Blossoms Are Popping Up Everywhere

Good morning.  Oh my, what a beautiful Spring day we are enjoying today.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 51F degrees.  Later today, the temps will be in the mid 70's.  I can definitely, absolutely handle that!!   (Did I mention that I love Spring time?)

Pogo and I got up a while ago and had our breakfast.  Well, I ate mine, and Pogo turned his little nose up at his.  Some days he just will not touch leftovers.  Picky baby!!  I got a phone call this morning from the fuel oil company.  The dispatcher was wanting to check on my address, so I repeated it to her again. 

When she read off the address where she had been planning to deliver my fuel to, I was amazed.  I never even heard of the street she named.  It's a good thing she called to check on it.  I guess she was probably snoozing when I had called in my request for a delivery.

Today I have a few photos to share of some flowers that are blooming in my little gardens.   Soon, there will be lots more tulips and daffodils.   The irises and lilies have been spreading out so I'm hoping to have lots of them this year too.

One of the plants that I ordered via the mail arrived a couple of days ago.  I have to find a good spot for it, and Joe says he will plant it for me this weekend.  I think it is a Mint Julep rose, but I'm not sure.  It did not come with any paperwork.  Oh well, the surprise will be fun.

Last evening DIL Janet came by after work.  She's been having a lot of work done on her house too.  Most of her electrical work is finished now and soon she'll be having a screened porch built on to the back of her house.  I guess this is the year for porches.  Woo Hoo!!

Well, I think I'll get dressed now and wash up the breakfast dishes.  After the fuel oil delivery comes, Pogo and I want to go out to do a couple errands.  I'll open the sky roof on my car, and we'll enjoy feeling the breeze  on our faces.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.

It's Time To Start Work In The Gardens

Good morning.  Gosh, I love this Spring weather.  The sun is shining, and the flag is dancing slowly in the breeze.  It's 50F degrees, and later we'll probably get up to around 60 degrees.  Pogo and I have had our breakfast and the birds and critters have all been fed.  It's a beautiful day.

After all the chaos with the new cable system yesterday, the rest of the day was wonderful.  Pogo and I went to Dee and Eddie's house and had a super time.  Pogo was thrilled to see Sassy (Dee's doggie) and was trying to make "no no's" with her.  Oh oh, time for Sassy to go outside and play until Pogo leaves.  Ah well, Pogo will get over it.

The rest of us had fun playing with baby Ali.  She is such a happy baby!  Dee was having a video call on her phone with Kevin's girlfriend, and Ali was super fascinated with the face on the phone.  She kept grabbing for the phone and plunking kisses all over it.

 

 

When Pogo and I were leaving to go home, Ali tried grabbing Pogo and smacking kisses all over him too.  I had to hold his paws so he would not accidently scratch her.  Pogo wasn't all that excited about being loved by the baby.

 

 

When I got home, I tried to remember how to tape a few episodes of my program.  Wow!  I actually managed to do it right!   However, I'm still not getting the hang of how to change channels, and there's quite a few buttons on the remote that I don't dare touch.  But I'm okay for now.  Of course, by the time I figure most of this out, there will be another new system.  Oy vey!

 

I must say though, that this new system is going to make a lot more people lazy.  You really don't have to press any buttons at all to change a channel or find a particular program.  Just hold down a button, tell the remote what you want, and let go of the button.  Voila!!  It does all the work for you.  I tried it out, but I still want to learn how do it the old fashioned way.

 

Daughter Audrey sent me a photo of all her little cucumber plants.  She and her granddaughter planted them, and now they are all starting to grow.  Gosh, I hope we can start working in our gardens this coming weekend.  Here's a photo of Audrey's seedlings.  I see lots of home made pickles coming in a few months.  Yum! Yum!

Pogo Has Made A New Friend

Good morning.  I thought we might be having rain today, but so far it is rather pretty outside.  The sun is shining, just not very brightly and it is 44F degrees.  Actually not bad for a Spring day.  It may still rain, but that's okay.

So far this morning has been quite hectic.  I had an early appointment with a technician from Comcast Cable Co to come in and install a new cable Xfinity box.  Unfortunately, they sent me a really rude and not too bright installer.  I finally had to call the cable company because the technician was yelling and saying that he was going to leave with my old box without showing me how to use this new system.

While on the phone, the service person asked to speak with the installer.  I handed him my phone and he immediately took it off speaker phone and walked outside so I could not hear.  Next he started yelling at me and threw my phone in the door onto my floor, and left with my old cable box.  And they call this service?????

My call did not disconnect, and the lady on the phone stayed on long enough to talk me through the basic steps that I needed to know about this new system.  No one at the company had told me that when the boxes were switched, all of my saved DVR recordings would be lost forever.

The person on the phone helped me to find my missing program episodes on "Demand", and stayed with me until we actually had one of them taping over to my DVD player.  Now this is what I call excellent service.  This took quite a while.  I told her how much I appreciated  everything she had done for and with me, and thanked her for her help.

Phew!!   I record all the episodes of Project Runway and its spin-offs onto DVD's and send them to my daughter Audrey.  They cannot get any cable service out in the cornfields (where she lives) and this is one of her favorite TV programs.  I have now successfully recorded the first two episodes of Project Runway All Stars on to a disc.  Yeah!!!  I will do more later.

This afternoon, Pogo and I are going to daughter Deanne's house.  Some of my great grandchildren will be there, including baby Ali, and I am looking forward to seeing the kids.  Every so often, Deanne offers to take the kids for an overnight visit.  This gives their mommy an evening to herself, and a chance for the rest of us to be with the kids for a while. 

Yesterday, SIL Eddie came by and finished the outside electrical work.  My grandson Kevin also came by and I gave him a crystal baseball and stand that was engraved with his initials.  I am very proud of Kevin.  Here's a photo of him in his team uniform.  Oh my, if my Michael were here, he would be thrilled beyond thrilled.

While they were here, dwarf Helen, who has been visiting at her sister's house, came home to get something, and brought her sister's rescued doggie with her.  Penny is a delightful doggie, and Pogo just loved her.  He immediately wanted to play, and after a while, Penny decided to play too.  This first photo is dwarf Helen bending down to pet Pogo.  The second photo shows Penny and Pogo getting to know each other.

It was difficult to get some good photos because these two did not stand still for more than a second or two.  At one point I tried to get a small video of them playing.  It's not the greatest, but I uploaded the video to Facebook.

All in all, these two doggies had a fabulous time playing with each other, and Penny has been invited back again to play some more.  I can't tell you how thrilled I was to watch Pogo having so much fun.

The sun is starting to shine a bit brighter, and it's time for me to get a few things done around here before Pogo and I head over to Deanne and Eddie's house.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Methinks Spring Has Done Sprung!!

Good morning.  Tis another gorgeous sunny and warm day.  I absolutely love it!!  It is already 66F degrees, a great day to be outside.  Maybe after I finish a few small chores, Pogo and I will go out and sit in the yard for a while.

Yesterday was a rather quiet day.  I had me a little nap in the afternoon, and then watched a few Law and Order re-runs.  Last evening, I worked on a turquoise afghan.  I like to have more than one project going so that I don't get bored.  When you make a lot of the same thing, it can get just a bit boring sometimes.

This year, Red Nose Day falls on May 26th.  All funds raised are used to help children living in poverty in this country and others around the world.  My grandson Stephen gave me this photo of himself and my great grandson Nicolas proudly showing off their red noses.  (Stephen's dad is my son Gary.  Nico's mom is Gary's daughter Shanna.)

Audrey and Mac's son, John, is in the Navy and stationed on a carrier so they aren't able to get everyone together all at the same time very often.  This past week they had a wonderful reunion, and  Audrey sent me this photo of their two kids, John and Andi. 

I think when my time on this earth is done, I will have left behind me quite a legacy.  It's amazing how just one person (well, with the help of another) can create such a large family. 

SIL Eddie is on his way here to finish off the outside electrical work.  I was hoping to get another estimate for the porch by now, but so far, I only have the one.  I guess I'll have to decide soon whether or not to hire the one fellow who gave me the estimate.  Once I've hired someone, I can be sitting out on the new porch in just a few weeks.

Spending An Afternoon In Never Land

April 17, 2016

Good morning. The sun is shining and it is 44F degrees.  In a few hours, it will be 60F degrees.  Woo Hoo!  I do believe that Ms. Spring is trying her best to get here. 

I don't know if SIL Eddie will be by today or tomorrow to finish up the electrical work.  It all depends on the kids' schedules.  If not today, then hopefully tomorrow.  There's a hill of dirt running across the grass where the ditch for the underground tubes are, and I want to have it leveled so that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.  First, I have to wait until Eddie's work is finished.

Yesterday was a beautiful day, and I went to see Jazzy perform in Peter Pan.  She played one of the Pirates and one of the Indians.  Our Jazzy is a trouper.  Yesterday before she left for the school, she dropped the curling iron onto her leg and got a nasty burn.  Eddie (the proud papa) dressed the burn as best he could, and Jazzy went to the school.  After all, the show must go on.

It was a delightful play, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  I took lots of photos and videos with my cell phone, and posted a few to Facebook.  Here are a few of the photos.  This first one is some of the Pirates.  Jazzy is the one with the black top and pink and red skirt.

After the show, Jazzy and her friend John (another Pirate) posed with me in the hallway.  I don't understand, but this photo makes me look as though I'm shrinking. 

As I was getting into my car to go home, I noticed a beautiful moon in the sky.  I love it when the moon is visible against a blue sky.

When I got home, it was close to supper time.  While I was thinking about what I might cook for Pogo and myself, Joe and Mike (dwarfs) invited us to share their supper with them.  Chicken, gravy, stuffing, green beans and mashed potatoes.  Yum Yum!!  (Pogo had two helpings of chicken!)

In the evening, I chatted a while with daughter Audrey, and then it was off to an early visit with the Sandman.  I must say, it was a beautiful day.

Spring Is Trying To Settle In Here

Good morning.  It's another beautiful sunny morning here in my little part of New England.  The temperature is 44F degrees, but will soon be in the mid 50's.  It's a lovely Spring day.

Yesterday, I had another contractor here to get an estimate for building my little porch.  He will get back to me by Sunday or Monday with the figures.  Today I will try to arrange for a third contractor to check out my project and give me an estimate.  Then I will have to make a decision on who to hire.

I need to call the tree company today to see when they are planning to come out and remove the dead limbs from a couple of my trees.  Buds are appearing on some of the trees, and I would like this tree work done before starting on the porch.

Yesterday's mail brought my cable bill, and it nearly floored me.  It was way higher than it should have been so I called the cable company.  They said that the higher amount was due to price increases.  I told them that unless they did something to lower my bill, I would be calling Verizon to see about switching to them.  They finally decided to make some changes on my bill and now it is back to affordable.  For now.

Today I have the last of my birdie photos from the last two snowfalls.   I may not like seeing the snow fall, but I sure do love all the beautiful birds that it brings to our feeders.

Today I think I'll run the vacuum around a bit before I start on any chores.  If I wait till later, I won't get it done.  I think I'll take Pogo for a walk around the yard too.  He will enjoy that.  I can't wait till we have the porch where he can run around and still be safe.

National Look Up At The Sky Day

Good morning.  Today is another beautiful sunny day with temps rising to about 50F degrees.  In a little while, I'll open the door so that Pogo can keep an eye on all that is happening outside.  Did you know that today is National Look Up At The Sky Day?  There is always something fascinating to see in the sky, so go outside and have a look.

Well, SIL Eddie called yesterday to say that he would not be by until Friday.  So I busied myself all day with going through boxes of things that have been packed and set aside for years.  Gosh, the stuff we save, and the things we find!  The good part is that I made two trips out to the recycle and trash bins.

Last evening, DIL Janet came by with a large bag of goodies.  Cupcakes, cookies and lemon Danish, oh my!!  We picked out something for dessert, and today I'll be giving most all the rest to the dwarfs.  They love all the goodies that Janet brings.

Today I have a couple images that I borrowed from the web.  One is a fun "Sleep, Eat & Play" center for your doggie (or kitty).  It has a place to hide all the toys and a wonderful loft for napping.

Next, for those of you who love chickens, I found this wonderful two story chicken coop.  It keeps your chickens safe from predators and gives them a shelter from bad weather.  Myself, I'd like to see the screened in area much larger.

Today, I think I'll make a couple more calls to get estimates for the deck/porch.  I liked the first contractor who came by, but I think it's best to have more than one estimate.  After that, I think I'll do a bit of shredding.  Hmmm, such an exciting day I've planned!

Pogo has a birthday coming up this month, and I'm scratching my head to figure out what to get him.  I already got the cake mix (with frosting) to make his birthday cake.   It's a peanut butter flavored cake.  I don't know if he will like it, but I thought I would at least try it.  If he doesn't like it, we'll send the whole thing over to Sassy (Dee and Eddie's little dog).
