Oh What A Beautiful Day!

October 7, 2019

Good morning.  What a lovely surprise we had with the overnight temps.  They stayed in the sixties all night long.  This morning's temp is 68F degrees, and later this afternoon it should climb to the mid seventies.  I can really dig this!  Of course, I know that by Wednesday, all our day temps will only get up into the low fifties.   So, today is to be enjoyed.  It's a gift.

I woke up early this morning, at 4 a.m.  So I got up and finished packing a bag for Good Will,  Every little bit helps.  Afterwards, I went back to sleep for a few more winks.  I thought Pogo might like to have something to eat while I was up, but he was busy snoring softly in dreamland.

Yesterday I promised to take a photo of the label that came with my new tiny rose plant.  The label was not very clear so I did the best I could.  If this plant grows and actually looks like this, it will be awesome.  Of course, with me as the gardener that's a big if.

My goldfish plant is not doing so good.  I don't know if it is me or if it doesn't do well indoors.  Most likely it's me.  My green thumb done died years ago.

I have quite a few blankets put away in large plastic zip up bags.  I think before I put them in the bag for Good Will, I'll call around to see if an animal shelter wants them.  All animals love to curl up in blankets.

Last evening, I went online to WalMart and placed an order to be picked up later this afternoon.  Joe said he would pick it up on his way home from work.  I really only needed water, but I added a few items to bring the order up to the minimum.  One of the things that I added was some doggie food for Pogo.  I found one that he will eat every now and then so I've decided  that it would be best to keep some of it on hand.

Did I mention that I have another tiny tomato trying to grow on what's left of my tomato plant?  Yup, there is one gorgeous tiny tomato, and a couple more yellow flowers.  It must be the cooler temps that is coaxing it to bloom and grow.  We'll see.  Anyway, here's a photo that I took.

I was keeping up with the junk mail as it came in the door, but when I got sick a while back, I just started tossing it all in a pile.  That pile is now quite large, so I think  that will be my project for today.  I'll go through it and sort it into two piles, recycle and shred.  It will be good to see it all gone.

Last evening I made a pan of meat sauce and then cooked some pasta.  Half the sauce went to the pasta and the other half is in the freezer.  I only cook half a pound of pasta at a time now.  Then I split that into two bowls.  One for supper and one for another meal.  I must say, it all came out quite tasty.

I only use diced tomatoes and tomato paste to make my sauce.  Once I mix it all into the cooked hamburg, if it is too thick I add some water.  Not too much.  Just enough so that it isn't too thick.  For seasoning I add onion powder and garlic powder and sometimes an Italian seasoning.  No salt, of course.  You can use any seasoning that you prefer.

While surfing the web the other night, I came across this tasty recipe for a Christmas punch.  Actually, I think it would taste really good anytime.  If you did not have to drive anywhere, you could even add a touch of your favorite alcoholic beverage.  Mmmm!

Now I'm going to drink my coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Those temperatures sound amazing! I'm glad you're having some good weather. I wish I could give you some hints about your goldfish plant but unfortunately I have no experience with those!

If you like onions and bell peppers you can mince them in a food processor and saute' them in your meat sauce. You can't see them there, but the taste is great. I always add those to my meat sauce. My son tell me he doesn't like onions but he doesn't realize he is eating onions. (lol) I always end up making too much and having to freeze mine also. The same with chicken spaghettis. I always over due it.

Your tomato is probably not finish growing. The cool weather is good for the growth. My peppers are still blooming but we are just getting a little cooler air today. They will start grwing better when all this heat leave. I will be glad when that happen. I hope you and Pogo have a great day.

The punch sounds so delicious! Thanks for sharing the picture of the card that came with your 3 in 1 rose bush. Best wishes with it and also, I hope the tomato will ripen. Yay for cooler temps. It is finally cooler here also. Such a delightful change. Many of the vets around here beg for old towels and blankets. Nice of you to check before donating. Especially with winter coming along. I keep a few cans of "emergency" dog and cat food on hand, and also water for us. Hope you and Pogo have a good evening.

Wishing you good luck with the miniature roses, Edna, I have tried growing them inside , but eventually they get mites and die. I do have luck with the green foliage plants, and coleus. Our tomatoes are long gone, due to the extreme heat this summer. I am thankful our temps. are beginning to change on the cooler side, this has been a very long and hot summer, with a drought too!.

That little Pogo reminds me of our little Jack, he loved to snuggle on a blanket. I certainly miss him.I hope you and Pogo are feeling better I need to get busy with cleaning closets and do some donating, our church has a clothes and food ministry.

The punch sounds delicious, Thank you for sharing the recipe, I would like to copy and save for a baby shower I will be helping with soon.

Thank you so much for visiting, and for your very kind, sweet thoughts, I was so blessed.
Blessings,
Sue
