Thank You God For All Our Gifts

August 24, 2012

It's quite nice outside this morning.  The sun is shining and it's in the 70's.  The weatherman  is promising temps in the mid 80's for later this morning.  We can handle this.  I'm at work, so this may not be a very long post.

Twenty years ago, someone very dear to me was diagnosed with cancer.  Over the past twenty years, she has battled and survived this dread disease three times.   Now it's back again.   I'm praying that she can beat it a fourth time.

This makes me stop to think of all the times I've whined and crabbed.  It makes me realize what a gift is to be able to whine and crab.   I wonder how many of us have ever given thanks for this gift.  I wonder how many of us even thinks of this as a gift.  So, next time you're in a crabby mood, lift your eyes and say thank you.

I stopped taking the cholesterol medicine the first time the doctor told me to take it because I was sick for two days after I took it.   This month, he told me to start taking it again.  I did, and was sick for two days.  Of course, I stopped it again.  Yesterday I gave it another try.  Within an hour, I was sick as a dog and back in bed.  So that's the end of that medicine.  I'll call the doctor Monday, and see if he wants to try something different.

Let me share a couple of bird photos that I took last week here at work.  This first one was taken through the living room window.  Both the sun and the glass have given the photo a lovely textured look.

This second photo was taken through the patio doors.  It's one of the many little sparrows that comes to the feeder.

Now I must  get busy here.  Mrs is beginning to stir and will be wanting her breakfast soon.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

56I won't take anything that makes me ill at all now. When I was little they always gave me polycillin, icky tasting pink gunk, when I got sick and it always made me sick to my stomach. My parents always figured I was making myself sick because I didn't like the taste of it and they’d make me take it again every day until the medicine was gone. I had the Polycillin prescribed to me a few times when I was little.

When I was sick when I was 12, the doctor prescribed ampicillin and I broke out all over my body. My hands were swollen to the point of looking like large baby’s hands. We found out I was allergic to penicillin! Tell little 5-year-old me I was making myself sick to be defiant, hmph… Anyway, I get sick as an adult; I don’t take it and tell the doc we have to try something else!

I love the birdies, but you know I always love the birds you post; they pose so well for you, Edna!

I need my afternoon coffee now. :)
Hugs, Nani

I love the texture of the bird through the window - I thought you'd added something to it.

Perhaps there's another med they could try for you. Sometimes a person reacts to one and not the other. I hope it works out okay.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend and your struggle with the cholesterol medicine.
Your birds shots are wonderful.
Hope you feel better soon!

What sad news to hear your friend has that terrible disease again. Let's pray that God will help her to beat it once again.

Your doctor has to find you another medicin, because there is no point in taken one that makes you ill everytime.

Have a great day with your little Pogo!

fantastic pics of the hummingbird ! Love them :) You might want to look into some alternative methods to reduce your cholesterol as well. I don't blame you for stopping the meds, I would have done the same.Often a change in diet can help a great deal as well. Here is a link that tells a little about it.

And here some herb links to lower cholesterol

You know me,lol... if I can do it the natural way I much prefer it to taking pills from the doctor. Not saying you don't need meds, but this should certainly help as well. Hugs Snowy
