Happy Halloween & "Miss Edie" Pt. 3

October 31, 2010
*
Happy Halloween, and Happy New Year. Yes, folks, this is also a time to celebrate the new year for lots of folks. As for me, I will be at work tonight. BUT, after the Mrs is sound asleep, Miss Tootsie and I will hop on our broom and have a quick ride around to look in on all our friends and family. If you look sometime around midnight, you just might be able to catch a glimpse of Miss Tootsie and me as we cross in front of the moon.
*
Yesterday, a gorgeous flower arrangement arrived. It was for me from the girls I work with. Oh wow, ladies, thank you so much. It is filled with fall flowers and a sprinkling of roses.

For next month, we have another great kit for you, which we will begin posting next Monday, November 8. Now it's time to think about what's for lunch today for Miss Tootsie and me. After that, it will be time to do the laundry. Gosh, I know, it seems like that's all I do - laundry. But I happen to enjoy doing it so that's okay. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.

Beware Posting Photos From Your Phone

October 30, 2010
*
Brrrr. It's quite chilly here this morning, although it should warm up to the mid 50's later today. We'll be getting socked with the colder weather this week coming. All week, only in the 40's for days, and 30's for nights.
*
Miss Audrey is already at the airport waiting for her flight to take her back home to Virginia. I know she has to go home, but I miss her already. Travel safely Audrey. This visit was so very short and busy. These past few weeks would have been so difficult to get through without the help and support of my fantastic family and friends.
*
I'm sitting here now watching the news, and one item really caught my attention. When you take photos with all your smart phones, and then post your photos on the web (facebook, twitter, etc.) you are giving the whole world a lot of personal information about yourself. Info such as your exact location, and a photo of your location. In order to counteract this, you have to go into your phone and turn OFF something called "geo tags on photos." Or you can go online to NECN.com to learn more.
*
Today, I have some bird photos to share. This first photo captures a power struggle over the rights to "first pick" from the dumpster. The second photo shows the loser calling for more backup, and the last photo is one of gulls that we had been feeding with bits of our lunch.
*

There was a lovely bright spot yesterday, when the mail was delivered. I received a lovely birthday card from my friend, Kyra. It came a few days early, but it really brightened my day. Thank you so much Kyra.
*

That's all for this morning, folks. I need to do a bit of laundry (lots of scatter rugs and doggie blankets to wash lately. Tootsie is trying so hard to adjust to all the changes that are happening, and sometimes it gets a bit much for her. But, no problem - we have lots of scatter rugs and doggie blankets on hand. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a magnificent day.

A Beautiful Day For A Final Ride

October 29, 2010
*
Good morning. The sun is beginning to peek through to our yard, but it is till quite cool today. These past few days, the weather has been absolutely divine. Yesterday, we all went to the National Cemetery in Bourne, and had a wonderful service for Moo.
*
There was a lot of fog and mist at the Cape, and going over the bridge we were enveloped in a blanket fog. You could barely see a thing. Then as we came closer to the cemetery, most of the fog lifted. Folks, the cemetery is just so gorgeous. Acres and acres of lawns and softly rolling hills. An absolutely beautiful place to rest for eternity. As always, the saddest moments are when the Taps are played quietly in the background. It's sort of like a final call home. Artie, we love you. Bless you, and may you rest in peace.
*
On the long ride home, I was noticing all the beautiful foliage and colors around us. One tree in particular caught my attention. I guess it is of the evergreen family, but I don't know which one it is exactly. It was the colorful green and gold pattern that caught my eye. I tried to get a couple of photos, but it wasn't easy to get a clear shot out the side window of the limousine. If you know the name of this tree, please do let me know.
*

The other photo I want to share is one that I took shortly after 10 pm on October 23rd. You can't notice so easily in this little photo, but when it is made to a bigger size, you can see that there is an aura around the whole opening in the clouds, and it looks the doorway to heaven. I will be having this one printed and framed.
*
I have been rather scatter brained and forgetful these past few weeks. In the midst of everything that has been happening, my friend Minky's finger was crushed, and she had to undergo surgery. Please join me in sending her wishes for a speedy recovery, and do stop by her blog for a visit. You'll be in for a really wonderful treat.
*
That's it for today, folks. Sunday, I will be bringing you the new Blogroll for the November Gothic Impressions Blog Train. This train will be filled with lots of gory, scary stuff for all your Halloween photos. Then again on Monday, Miss Su and I will be offering you the last parts of our "Miss Edie" kit.
*
Now I think Audrey and Miss Tootsie and I will have a bit of breakfast. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a magnificent day.

One Last Goodbye

October 27, 2010
*
It's rainy and gray here this morning, so let's hope the weatherman is right. He says that tomorrow will be an absolutely beautiful day. That is when we will all be traveling to the Veterans Cemetery at Bourne, MA for Moo's funeral service.
*
We've all been very busy here getting all the last minute things done. Clothes, flowers, photo boards, etc. The funeral director has given me permission to bring Miss Tootsie because she was an important part of my brother's life. I will bring her stroller so that she will not be accidentally stepped on.
*
There will be no blog post tomorrow, but I will be back again on Friday. Today, I will share the photo boards that I made up. Till Friday, Y'all have a marvelous day.
*
Hugs, Edna B.

Frumps And Frogs

October 25, 2010
*
It's gray and damp outside today. I think (I know) I'm coming down with a nasty cold. Too little sleep and eating on the run can do that. Today I will have to start taking in lots of vitamin C and orange juice.
*
Yesterday was a busy day, making arrangements and picking out outfits for me and my brother. Everything I tried on made me look like a short frump in the mirror. Gosh, I AM a short frump, but I'm still expecting to see some adorable sleek lady when I look in the mirror. Go figure! Is everybody else like that? I should know by now that a frog only looks like a prince to his princess.
*
I have been rambling lately, going from one subject to another before finishing with the first one. Hopefully, this will clear up in a few days. I have been remembering lots of things from the past. I remember how, when we were little kids, my brother would pick a fight with a bigger boy, and hide behind me, taunting the other boy with "Ha ha, go ahead and hit me. My big sister will beat you up." Then, just a few years later it was "Hurt my sister, Man, and you're dog meat!!" Don't you just love it?
*
Yesterday, Janet and I took a small break for some lunch at Wendy's. Afterward, we fed a bit of food to the seagulls and crows. When the food was gone, we noticed this one crow who had found himself quite a treasure and had taken it up to the power wires to sit and enjoy it. Except -- it takes a while to figure out how to hold on to the treasure, and be able to eat it too. Here are some of the photos I took.
*

Back to my schedule here, today I have to finish getting the information ready for the newspapers, and put together a picture board. Unless things change, the wake will be Wednesday night 5-8 pm, and Thursday morning we will go to Bourne (Veterans' Cemetery) and have a short service there. For those who did not know, my brother went into the Army when he was sixteen years old, and was sent to Korea for two years.
*
I need to give Tootsie her morning meds now, and get busy here. There is so much to do, and I have so many wonderful folks to thank for all the prayers and thoughts that are being sent. I want to thank all of you. It is so comforting to know that you care. Y'all have a wonderful day now.
*
Hugs, Edna B.

p.s. I almost forgot - today Su and I are posting Part 2 of "Miss Edie." Here is your link for my "Part 2", and don't forget to visit Su's blog for her "Part 2."

God Be With You, Artie

Saturday, October 23, 2010
*
Tonight, around 8:20 pm, my beloved brother's soul left us, surrounded by the brilliant glow of a magnificent full moon. I went outside and took enough photos for the both of us. The sky was filled with fast moving fluffy white clouds.
*
While waiting for the funeral director to arrive, we were remembering another long car many many years ago when my children were young. Artie showed up at our house to show off his splendid new car, and all the kids piled into it for a ride around the block. Artie's new car was a long black hearse. He so loved that car, and even put in a little stove and sleeping bag in the back so he could go camping with it. So I guess tonight it was fitting for him to leave here in a shiny new long black car.
*
I love you Artie. Rest peacefully. Edna

Saturday Update

October 23, 2010
*
This is an update from early this morning. Moo had a really bad morning. Dee Dee and Eddie came to help take care of him. After several calls to hospice, we finally were able to have a nurse come out. At the moment, he is finally comfortable and quiet. It's hard to believe that just a week and a half ago, my brother was busy driving around in his little white van, doing errands, and trying to visit once more with everyone important in his life. He even did a bit of food shopping.
*
I've taken time off from work. There is precious little time left to talk and touch, and just be with him. My family and I want you all to know that we really do appreciate your prayers and good wishes.
*
This is one of my last photos of Moo, taken in July while he was watching the crew at work in the yard.
*

Folks, life is precious, and every day is really a gift. Let someone close to you know that you love them. Hugs and kisses are fun and good for your soul.

Little Brother Throws Rock - Big Sister Ducks!

October 23, 2010
*
How's that for a front page headline? One summer day, back in the '40's, my brother and I were outdoors playing and for some reason we got into an argument. Our little "disagreement" got a bit heated and I turned and ran across the street to our yard. My little brother got angry and picked up a rock and threw it across the street at me.
*
Have you guessed yet? Yup, I ducked to avoid the rock, and the stone hit the glass window on the red fire box that was on the telephone pole directly in front of our house. Within minutes, it seemed as though our house was surrounded by the whole fire and police departments. Even the newspaper picked up the story and put it on the front page. Do I have to tell you about the licking we both got from our mother? We were very careful about throwing rocks after that.
*
I've been writing this post in bits during the night. My brother is having a rather bad night, and a couple of the guys got up from bed during the night to help me with him. The monitor isn't very useful to me because the volume can't be turned up enough to hear any breathing. So I guess I will try to get a different one sometime today. You cannot go to sleep if you cannot hear the sounds coming from the monitor.
*
For today's photo, I thought I would post one of Moo's favorites. He loved to watch the sun go down over the ocean, so these were his favorite photo subjects.
*

I've just given him some more medicine and he is quiet, so I think I will try to rest my eyes a bit. There is a lot that needs to be done today, plus I have to arrange to take some time off at work. I know Moo was in good hands all day yesterday while I was at work, but I was nervous most of the time from worry. It's best I stay at home for a bit, at least at night. So till tomorrow, or another update, Y'all have a wonderful day.

A Good Night For Moo

October 22, 2010
*
Good morning. The sun is shining and even though it is quite cool out at the moment, it's really quite nice. The trees are wearing a lot more autumn colors now that the weather is cooling. I am at work so this may be a short post.
*
Last night was a better night for Moo. His hospice social worker stopped by yesterday for a visit and to see if they could help more. I asked about a hospital bed for Moo, and it was ordered immediately. Talk about quick! We only had about 15 minutes last night to take Moo's bed out of his room and put it somewhere to make way for the new bed that was being delivered and set up. By 8 pm, Moo was all tucked in nice and comfy in his new bed.
*
I gave him his last batch of meds around 10:45, and he was able to sleep through most of the night without so much pain. Even Tootsie and I managed to get a bit of sleep. Dee Dee fixed my monitor so that the sound was working better. What a relief to see my brother a lot more comfortable. Right now, he is basically on comfort care, and so far everyone has been so very good about helping me to care for him.
*
This morning, my daughter in law, Janet, is with Moo and Tootsie. This afternoon, Eddie and Dee Dee will be there till I get home. All the dwarfs have been helping out wherever they can too. We have a great bunch of guys, and I am very thankful for that.
*
I have a couple of pretty photos of the foliage to share with you. This is how it is looking here in New England. Pretty! Pretty! Pretty!
*

The Mrs. will be waking soon, so I need to start preparing her breakfast. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

A Beautiful Boston Landmark

October 21, 2010
*
I haven't a clue what the weather is supposed to be today. It's been starting out rather cool and gray in the early mornings, and then during the day hours a bit of sun pokes through the clouds. Looking out my window, I can see that my car is all wet so it must have done a bit of sprinkling during the night. The warm weather is definitely over.
*
It's been a busy night here. Between keeping an eye on Moo, and keeping up with his pain meds, and in between trying to catch a wink or two. For some reason, the winks just wouldn't come. Maybe sometime today I can catch a nap. I have to work out some schedules here so that I can go to work sometimes.
*
I feel so bad for Moo. All his life, my brother has been a strong, very active and hard working person. This stage of the disease has come on so fast, and it hurts to see him struggling so hard just to sit up or turn over on his bed. It just doesn't seem fair. I know, I know. No one ever said life was a picnic.
*
Today we will meet the home health aide that will be coming in Monday through Friday for an hour or so. She will be helping Moo with bathing and dressing, and hopefully help him to eat a bit of lunch. We will have to wait and see how this works out. I think I would almost rather have someone sit with him through the night on at least one of the nights that I am supposed to work. I will have to talk to his nurse to see what can be done.
*
Today, I have a couple of cool photos to share. There were a lot of pigeons by the hospital and I tried to get a few photos. One pigeon in particular had such pretty coloring that it stood out from all the others. Have a look. Isn't this one a beauty?
*

I shot this next photo through the side car window over Eddie's arm. This is our famous National Grid tank. Snowy, when you are traveling on the bus from Boston to Braintree, you will see this beautiful landmark out the left side of the bus. It really is quite magnificent.
*
I think that's it for this morning. I need to check on Moo again, then I think I will try to catch a couple of winks. When Eddie gets here today, I will have him check the new monitor that I bought. I can't seem to get the sound to work very loud. I'm off now. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Happy Days, Moo Is Home

October 20, 2010
*
Good morning. It's rather gray and wet here this morning, but we can deal with that. It's a good day. Moo is home. He came home late yesterday afternoon. About an hour later, a hospice nurse arrived to get some intake information, and by 8pm his meds were delivered. After he had some juice and his meds, he drifted off to sleep. It was badly needed sleep, because he did not wake up till after 1:30 am.
*
This morning, he was awake for a bit and now he is back to dreamland. It will take him a while to get used to being able to sleep and not be woken up every little while. Today, I will buy a blender and a monitor. The blender will help to make foods that he can eat, and the monitor will make it easier for him to call me when he needs something.
*
This afternoon we will meet the regular hospice nurse that has been assigned to him. She will help to set up any services that Moo might be needing. Janet is coming over so that I can get out and do some errands. I also have to pick up meds for Tootsie and me.
*
Eddie just got here. The night before last, Tootsie and I had an unwelcome visitor in the pantry. When I came out in the morning, I found a good sized hole that something had chewed so that it could come inside and raid the pantry. Eddie blocked the hole temporarily, and today he will see what he can do to keep the little buggers out permanently. The hole was too big to be mice, so I'm not really sure what it was.
*
I have some nice photos to share of the foliage by the hospital where Moo has been the past week. This photo shows one of the beautiful trees that line the sidewalks by the hospital.
*
This next photo shows the front entrance to the part of the hospital where Moo was staying. This hospital consists of several large buildings.
*
And this last photo shows the tree to left of the entrance. I thought it was beautiful the way the tree relects in all the panes of glass.
*
Now it's time for me to give Moo another dose of meds, and then I have to get dressed. I have lots of errands to do today. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.
*

This Might Be A Homecoming Day!

October 19, 2010
*
It's a rather nice morning here in our little part of New England. It's a bit chilly, but the sun is peeking over the tree tops so it will warm up in a little while. (I think.) Wow, was I tired yesterday when I was finally able to sit for a few minutes on the sofa here at home. After a busy day, I got something to eat for supper and sat down - and woke up a few hours later. I guess I was just a speck tired.
*
Eddie and I went to the hospital to see Moo around lunchtime, and this time I took my camera with me. All these days of running in and out of Boston, and I never even thought to take any photos. I still have to weed through the several hundred shots that I took yesterday, but I pulled out a few to share with you this morning.
*
First, an update on Moo. I saw an improvement in him. He is able to talk a little bit clearer, and is able to use his good hand much more. Cranky??? My goodness, he deserves a "first place" ribbon for crankiness. BUT, I would be cranky too if it were me in that bed. On the other hand, we did manage to get a few smiles out of him, and he actually cracked a couple of jokes.
*
I just got a call from a hospice nurse about having a meeting with Moo and myself today. However, I cannot get into Boston today, so she is going to try to set the meeting up on the phone with all of us. That would be a big help. Had they told me about the meeting yesterday, I could have made arrangements to get to the hospital today. However, the hospital code is "say nothing to the patient or the family. Keep it all a surprise."
*
Okay, back to the photos. As we were sitting at the traffic light facing the hospital, we noticed the hospital helicopter starting to take off - probably to pick up another patient or maybe it had just dropped one off. I managed to get some nice photos of it. I think this is the one that brought my brother to the hospital.
*

As we were driving along yesterday, I also got a couple of shots of the side view mirror on the car. They came out pretty good, so I'll share one of those too. Three guesses who the photographer is.
*
I think that's all for this morning. I have to be ready for that phone call. There's a chance that Moo might be coming home today, and that would be really nice. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.
*

A New Collab Kit "Miss Edie"

October 18, 2010
*
Here I sit at 3:50 am, and the house is very quiet. I'm at work, and the Mrs. is sound asleep. Miss Tootsie is curled up and snoozing on her blanket beside my chair. Mrs. isn't crazy about me bringing her to work with me, but I have no sitter for her. So we sit at the table in the kitchen all night and play on the laptop or read a book till morning.

I did have a wonderful chat with my friend Su this past evening. (Sunday night) We are collaborating on some new kits for you. This week's new kit is called "Miss Edie" and is in six parts. Each week, for three weeks, Miss Su and I will each post a part on our blog. You will have to visit both blogs to get all six parts. It's a beautiful kit, so be sure to gather up all the parts.

Our Miss Edie kit is named for, and dedicated to, my sister in law, Edie. She is a cancer survivor and one beautiful lady. Her smile is fantastic and goes on forever. I took a photo of her the last time she came to visit, and we used the colors from that photo to make this kit. Each of us has a completely different style of design, but we do go well together. It's really a lovely kit, so enjoy.
*
"Miss Edie"

Here is your download link for my Part One of "Miss Edie."
*
*
For Su's Part One, you will have to visit her blog.
*
Next Monday, we will each post another part for you. Don't forget to stop back for them.
*
Later this morning, I am going to see if I can get in to see Moo. It's been a couple of days, and I really would like to speak with his doctors to see what the story is. He is speaking a bit easier, and is able to walk around a bit. It will be so nice to have him back home again soon.
*
Miss Tootsie is eating a little bit more, and seems to be a tad bit better. However, it's not good enough for the doctor. Tootsie needs to improve some more. I feel so bad for her. She is so little and can't talk to tell us what hurts and where.
*
Early this afternoon, Miss Audrey arrived safely back home in Virginia. And we miss her. Poor Tootsie has a problem dealing with separation issues. That's probably a big part of what is wrong with her. Her Moo left and hasn't come back yet, and now Audrey has gone back home. There is no way I could leave Tootsie at the hospital for a couple of days like her doctor wants. I don't think she could cope with that. I asked if I could set up a cot in her little room at the hospital, but the doctor said no. Oh well.
*
I've rambled on enough for one post. I think now I will work on a challenge or maybe do a jigsaw puzzle. Hmmmm. The puzzle sounds like a great idea. That's all for today. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

It's Time To Carve The Pumpkins

October 17, 2010
*
Good morning. It's 6:12 am, and it's pitch black outside. We got up at 4 am (Audrey and me) to have one last cup of coffee together before it was time to leave to catch the shuttle bus back to the airport. I still can't believe that two weeks has just flown by.

We pulled into the shuttle bus depot at 5:10 am, thinking that we still had about 20 minutes before her bus would leave. Boy, were we wrong!! The bus was already there, all boarded, and getting ready to leave. We just had time for a hug and a kiss goodbye. Have a safe trip home, Audrey. We are missing you already.

I called Moo several times yesterday, but did not really have a chance to chat with him. Twice, he was waiting for medication (seems it is always late), and twice he was sleeping. Hopefully today I will be able to chat with him for a bit before I have to leave for work. A couple of his friends will be going in to visit with him, so he will have some company today.

Tootsie is a little better this morning. She was able to eat a little of her food yesterday, and was a bit perkier. She's not 100% yet, but she appears to be on the mend. Gosh, I certainly hope so. If she doesn't start getting better really quick, the doctor want's to do an ultrasound and possibly a few more tests. However, I'm hoping that this won't be necessary.

This morning I have a nice pumpkin photo to share with you. Tis the season, and there are pumpkins everywhere you go. This one was taken at work last week.
*

Well, I'm going to crawl back into bed now and try to catch a bit of sleep. I have to go into work early this afternoon until mid morning tomorrow. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

I Don't Think Those Rehab Folks Are Crazy About Me!

October 16, 2010
*
It's a bit gray and windy here with very cool temperatures. I was so hoping for what we used to call "Indian Summer" weather to start about now, but it's not looking that way so far. The rose bush outside my window is dancing about in the breeze, and every now and then it gives a sharp jerk. That tells me that the wind is a bit choppy out there.
*
I just called Moo, but it's bit early for him so I'll call back in another hour or so. He cannot hold the phone yet so I have to call the nurses' station so that someone can go into his room and get the phone for him. I can do this.
*
I was in with him yesterday when all the "rehab" teams came in to visit him. Pain management, rehab program, dietary, etc. All was well except with the rehab folks. They tried to bamboozle him into agreeing to go to a rehab facility for a few weeks. Whatever he decides is okay with me, but I want him to know exactly where is he going and for what.
*
I've worked in many of these facilities, and they are just glorified nursing homes. They promise you four hours of physical therapy a day for six days a week, but I have never known it to happen. Gosh, I wonder why that rehab team was not so thrilled for me to be there!
*
We left the hospital (Eddie and me) and came straight home so that I could take Tootsie to the hospital. While I was visiting with Moo, Tootsie had attempted to eat a little bit for Audrey, but just could not hold it down. On top of that, the diarrhea set in and she was becoming dehydrated. Three hundred dollars later, she was feeling just a tad bit better. Thank God I have a job.
*
Right now Audrey is in the house cooking breakfast for everyone. Biscuits, sausage and gravy. It's a regular Southern breakfast where she lives. So pretty soon, the kitchen will be filled with good smells and hungry guys.
*
Today, I have another QP freebie for you. This one was such a lot of fun to work on, so I hope you can use it. Now it's time for me to get dressed and maybe have a bit of breakfast with everybody. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a great day.

Friday Morning Update

October 15, 2010
*
It's still a bit gray outside, but my brother seems to be doing a bit better. He is able to eat a meal now, even though it is liquid or puree. And his speech is much more legible. Hooray!!! That is such a huge improvement over just yesterday.

Last night around 9pm, he was moved out of Intensive Care to a medical floor. Hopefully, this could be good news. This morning I will see for myself when I go to the hospital to visit with him.

My little Tootsie is not doing so well. She won't eat, and drinks very little water. I may have to take her to the hospital today too, except that none of her doctors are there on Friday. Something tells me that today is not going to be one of my better days. You think?

It's time for Bonzo here to get dressed and ready to start the day. I'll leave you with a photo that I took yesterday of some colored foliage by a lake. Now I'm off. Till tomorrow, or my next update, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

The News Is Not So Great This Morning

October 14, 2010
*
Tis a gray morning here in our little part of New England. Moo went back into the hospital yesterday morning, and last evening was moved into an Intensive Care unit. I think this time he will need lots of prayers and a large dose of help from above.

My post will be short this morning, as I have lots of calls to make and I have my cell phone handy in case the doctors call me. I will post updates whenever I can.

Thanks so much for your patience and your prayers. My brother Artie loved to photograph the sunsets by the ocean, so I will leave you with one of his sunset photos. Till tomorrow, (or my next update), Y'all have a wonderful day.

An Early Start Today

October 13, 2010
*
Brrrrrrr! I'm up earlier than I want to be, and it's just too cold for me. Outside my window it is gray, but then it is still very early. I have an 8:30 appointment so that meant getting up much earlier than I wanted to. I would gladly give up my morning coffee to be able to just stay in bed and sleep as long as I want to. Oooooooh, what a delicious thought!!!

Yesterday, Audrey and I (I should say Audrey!) dragged down all of my dolls from the attic. So one of these days, I will be able to photograph all of them. Plus, we also went through lots of old photographs, and picked out several to scan later on today. We also found a huge bag of some very pretty lacy girlie things that I used to be able to fit into. Wow! Did I really fit into that?

All in all, it was a rather busy day. Moo treated us all to "take out" pizza for supper. Mmmmmm! His had pineapple on top of it. He got the word yesterday that he can have a regular diet now, so break out the goodies!!

I have a nice photo of one of our little woodpeckers, enjoying one of the birdie treats.
*

And next I have a photo that I took of Miss Tootsie last night after her bath. If she doesn't look too thrilled at having her photo taken, it's because she was having a "bad hair" night. It hadn't been brushed out, and she just couldn't do a thing with it!!! I think she's gorgeous even with the bad hairdo.
*

Now it's time for me to skeedaddle. I have to be leaving in about 20 minutes. Groan! Groan! Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Playing With Dolls Today

October 12, 2010
*
It's a little after 8 am, and it's still a bit gray and cool outside. I think we may have some rain coming today. Yesterday, though, was a wicked fantastic day!! Although I was working and did not get to enjoy a whole lot of it, I did get outside for a bit and it was just wonderful.

I'm watching the news headlines running across the bottom of the TV screen. It is saying that today people will be finally able to start lifting the miners out from the mine they have been trapped in for more than two months. I think that is absolutely amazing that these men are able to be rescued after all that time. What an awesome time for both the men and their families.
*
Today is a "stay in the house" day. Mayhaps Audrey and I can inventory all my dolls today. That would be nice because I would like to photograph the whole collection. Plus, most of them have been put away for so long, it will be nice to see them all again.
*
Lots of folks are decorating their homes and yards with pumpkins and scarecrows, and ghosties and black cats. Halloween is one of our favorite holidays for decorating. Some folks enjoy decorating for the change of seasons. It's all really quite nice. At work, even the mail boxes are decorated. Here is one of the photos that I took yesterday.
*

Today, I have another QP freebie for you. I hope you can find a use for it. Now it's time to get dressed and start my new day here, not to mention that I am anxious to dig out that doll collection. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

The Moon Over Dunkin Donuts

October 11, 2010
*
It's 5 am, and I'm sitting here catching up on blog reading and wondering why I'm not catching a few winks instead. It's been such a hectic month, and my mind is busy racing from thought to thought. This, of course, is why sleep doesn't come easily. Mrs. is sound asleep, and there is ten more hours till it is time to go home.

I have been able to work a bit on a couple of challenges and a couple of new kits. Sad to say, I have neglected my scrapping quite a bit. Life does have a way of changing plans and habits. I also have not been working on my new calendar. My bad! I was so hoping to have it finished up this month.

Moo is still not able to use his left hand, so hopefully he will be able to have physical therapy for that. Until we lose the use of something, we don't understand how difficult it is to do some of the simplest things. Life goes on though, and we just do our best.

Last night on my way to work, the moon was ever so pretty so I pulled over into a Dunkin Donuts parking lot to take some photos. Later, of course, I even made a few scrap backgrounds from them. I thought I would take more photos once I got to work, but by then the moon was not visible from where I was. Here is one of the prettier photos that I did manage to get.
*

There's not much more news for today, so I think I will make a cup of coffee and work on a challenge for a little while until the Mrs. wakes up. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.

New Diet Regime For Moo

October 10, 2010
*
Good morning. It's very cool, but quite nice outside this morning. Fall is really here. We've had to turn on the electric fireplace mornings and evenings. Gosh, it just seems so early to have to turn the heat on. This just means that Ole Man Winter is right around the corner!

Moo seems to be adjusting nicely. It's going to take a while though to get used to a new diet regime. No salt and no sugar does tend to make some serious changes in one's eating habits. I stopped using salt years ago, so the cooking part is not such a problem.

This morning when I came outside to start my car, there was a little bird across the yard sitting on a wooden post. He just sat there and watched me, so I tried to get a photo of him without scaring him away. Here's my best shot.
*
Audrey is only here for one more week, and I would like to find a little time to spend with her. It would be nice if we could carve out a little time to get out and shoot some pictures. Maybe we all could do this. Even Tootsie could come with us.
*
Well that's all for this morning. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Scotch Tape To The Rescue!

October 9, 2010
*
Go0d morning all. It's almost 10 am, and it's looking quite nice outside. Yesterday actually turned out rather nice too. The afternoon was so nice and warm and sunny. Oh boy, I really do love Autumn weather when it is like this.

Miss Audrey and I got to do some grocery shopping, and while we were at it, I picked up a memory foam mattress topper for the chair bed. However, by the time nighty nite time rolled around, we were too pooped to remember to put the topper on the bed. Oh well, the intentions were good.

Eddie came by yesterday with a new gadget for Miss Tootsie. It's a big oblong shaped box, only about 3/4 inch deep to put her pee pads in. This way they won't be slipping and sliding around on the tile floor and making it difficult for Miss Tootsie to do her potty stuff. Thanks Eddie. Miss Tootsie sends you a big lick!

Tonight it's back to work for Bonzo here, so I need to keep my appointment at the nail salon. I have been so busy lately that I completely neglected my nails, and they certainly do look it. I broke one of my nails and I had to put a bandaid on it. But the bandaids keep falling off because my hands are in water a lot. So now I sit here typing with scotch tape on that finger nail!!! Don't laugh! It works!!

For photos today, I have a couple that Audrey took of her cat, Miss Bobbi. These are for all you cat lovers out there. (Me included) Isn't Miss Bobbi gorgeous?
*

Now for an update on Moo. At the moment, he's enjoying a bowl of Raisin Bran cereal and his coffee, and is feeling a bit chipper. You have to know that this is good news, considering all that he has been through lately.
*
I think that's it for this morning. I have a nail appointment in an hour, and then there is more laundry to do. Oh goodie! Till tomorrow, Y'all have a magnificent day.

Br-r-r! I It's Cold And Damp

October 8, 2010
*
It is now 7:30 am, and it is gray and wet outside. That could change though in a few hours. I'm not keen on these shorter days with less daylight. Mostly, I guess, because they come with much cooler weather. It's time to have the furnace cleaned out and turn on the heat. Br-r-r!
*
I've been up since 4 am catching up on reading emails and blogs. My mind seems to be super busy, so it is difficult to fall asleep during the night. Although falling asleep on the sofa during the day is quite easy!

The visiting nurse was here yesterday to see Moo. And Audrey has organized all of his meds, so hopefully things will be looking up now. He has been enjoying having Audrey dote on him, and this has been keeping his spirits up.

Sad to say, I've been a bit too busy to get out and take new photos. I do have some though, of my little sparrows that sit outside my window. These two photos were taken last week. I think these little kids are just so precious.
*

I have managed to finish a few new Halloween QP's for you, and today I'll post the first one. That's about all the news for today so far. It's time to make another cup of coffee and get my shopping list ready. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

Welcome Home Moo

October 7, 2010
*
Good morning. The sun is peeking around the front of the house, even though it is still a bit on the cool side. Autumn is definitely here.

Moo is home now. He came home early last evening. I don't know the results of the latest tests yet, but he did sleep much better here in his own bed. Today, the visiting nurse will be by to go over meds and such with him.

I would like to remind everyone that the October GI Blog Train list is still up, and will be through at least the 15th. Just click on the link on the side bar under October, or scroll back a page.

There's not much else news today. I haven't really had much time to sit and design on the laptop, but I did work on a new freebie for you. I'll try to have that ready for tomorrow.

I do have a couple of different photos to share with you. On my way to work the other night, I tried to photo a plane on it's way into Boston. The sky was all different shades of gray and red, so I thought the photos might be interesting.
*

Could be some folks are coming home, or perhaps some folks are coming into Boston for a lovely vacation. Hmmmmm. Well, either way, I thought the sky was rather beautiful.
*
Well that's it for this morning. It's time to go see how Moo is doing. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.

Nursey, Nursey, Where Are You?

October 6, 2010
*
It's another cool, gray and a bit breezy morning here in our little part of New England. We all slept quite late this morning (Miss Audrey, Tootsie and me). The run, run, run is starting to catch up with me. The food shopping misses me too. I will have to get that caught up with today or give up coffee and dog food. Miss Tootsie will have to give up the doggie food, not me!!!
*
I just talked to Moo, and he's not a happy camper. The nurse is quite late, as usual, with his pain meds. For some reason, they seem to have a problem getting his meds out to him on time. It's probably time for me to make some noise to the Head of Nursing. And I can do this too!!!
*
He had a couple more tests yesterday and very late last night. Can you imagine being woke up around midnight to go for an MRI? I wonder why they can't schedule these tests during daytime hours? They are so lucky that I am not the patient. I can get a tad bit testy. Actually, when they annoy me, I can be downright miserable.
*
I will keep you posted when I hear the results of the newest tests. Meanwhile, I have some more of Audrey's photos. I believe she said that the zoo they last visited was in North Carolina. I'm not sure what the name is for this plant, but it sure is pretty.
*

As for this gorgeous little bird, I'm not sure of it's name either. So if you know, do let me know.
*
This next little fellow is easy. He's a seal of course. And he's not too sure yet if he wants his photo taken. Either way, he is certainly adorable.
*
Now it's time to get dressed here, and make a concerted effort to start this new day. My body says "No, No" but my brain says "Yes, Yes." Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
