June is Going Out With A Smile

June 30, 2012

It's 8:45 a.m. and it's simply gorgeous outside here.  Of course, it will be very steamy in another hour or two, but for now it is just wonderful.  My door is open, a little bird is chirping outside, and there is a nice breeze coming in the doorway.  What a great way to enjoy my cup of coffee.

I've been watching the shopping channel lately.  They are celebrating their 35th birthday, and some of the buys have been fabulous.  I've been very good though, and haven't bought anything.  Sometimes it's just fun to listen to the hosts and hostesses talk about the different products.

This morning, I have another photo of a hummingbird.  One of these days, when I am at work, I will go outside and wash a couple of the windows again.  Even so, some of the photos aren't too bad.

By the way, have you looked at the calendar?  Do you realize that today is the last day of June?  Tomorrow we will begin the seventh month, and I'm still not quite sure where the last few have gone.  I know I've said it before, but wowee, time is flying by.

Today, I have another freebie texture for you.  I made this from one of my rain photos.

And here is your download link:  Enjoy.

http://www.mediafire.com/?b2mf6v6va7tq96f

I've also applied it to a photo to show you how it can look.  In Photoshop, apply texture then use the "difference" blending mode.  Voila!  I've put a small insert of the original photo in the bottom right corner.

This morning I need to call the nail salon to see if they can fit me in today.  So with that thought in mind, I'm going now to get dressed and whip up a bit of breakfast for Tootsie and me.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

It's Going To Be A Long Day

June 29, 2012

Good morning.  I feel as though my day is more than half over, when it's really just getting started.  Because I had such a good nap yesterday, and fell asleep last night early for about an hour and a half, I was wide awake at 12:30 a.m.  There was no getting back to sleep, so Tootsie and I got up around 3:45 a.m. and had ourselves a plate full of scrambled eggs and bacon.

Yesterday, I meant to tell you about the package I got in the mail the day before.  I had ordered my Black Birds photo art printed on canvas and mounted, and it came in the mail.  Wow, was I ever excited.  It really came out quite good.

I have another bit of photo art to share this morning.  I made this from a photo of one of my roses, the ""Oh My" texture from Kim Klassen, and the plastic wrap filter and multiply blend from Photoshop.  It's named simply "The Rose", and  I'll be posting it on Kim's Texture Tuesday page.

I'm getting to really like photo art.  Once you get started on a picture, you never quite know where your mind will take you.  Very interesting.

Day 2 of our exercise program went pretty good yesterday.  Except for a few sore spots, we managed to get through the program.  Later today when I get home, I'll try doing the routine by myself.  I sent the videos home with Deanne so that she could work on it over the weekend.

That's about all the news for this morning.  It's time to help the Mrs get washed and dressed.  I have another freebie that I'll post for you tomorrow.  Till then, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Summer Temps Are Back

June 28, 2012

Good morning.  It's quite gorgeous outdoors today, and we are in for a week of summer weather.  Hot, sunny, muggy.  At the moment, it is 76F, and heading towards 86F.

It's also Day 2 of our exercises.  Yesterday, Deanne and I did our best to do justice to the "Beginner" part of the program.  I must say that we did do pretty good.  Actually, she did much better than I did.  If I managed to do two moves to every four moves on the video, I was doing good.

What I did get out of the exercise was a bit of energy.  For a while.  Today, I have some sore places on my body.  By this time next week, I just might decide that saggy butts are a sign of beauty and intelligence.

A friend, The Queen Jester, suggested that my rain photo would make a good texture, so last night I did just that.  I made you a texture freebie.

And here is your download link.  Enjoy.
http://www.mediafire.com/?9cl3c452s6599y9

I have a photo of another of my lilies to share this morning.  This one is quite interesting and colorful.  (and I forget the name of it.)

So now, we are just waiting to see if the orange, pink and blue Irises will bloom.  The fisher cat has eaten so many of the bulbs that we planted last year, so we don't know what's left until it blooms.  We did set up a heart trap to catch the creature, but so far we are not having any luck.  It looks as though our trap is just too small.

It's time for me to get dressed and ready for another round of exercises.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Week 1, Day 1.

June 27, 2012

The weather is a bit strange this morning.  The sun was shining so I went outside for a moment, only to find that it was raining.  Strange!  It's 6 a.m. and I'm still at work.  Another hour, and I'll be on my way home.

Yesterday, Deanne and I watched our new exercise discs, and tried out a few of the fancy new moves we will be learning.  It was exhausting to sit and watch all these gorgeous young teeny boppers wiggle and shake their bum bums (pronounced "boom booms").   We finally had to get up and join in on some of the routines.

Amazingly, not one of the girls on the video had a droopy bottom.  It would have been much nicer if the participants on the video were all roly polies with saggy bottoms.  Then at least, we would be able to see the transformation for ourselves.  We would also feel a lot better about looking so inadequate while doing the routines.

However, after all is said and done, today is officially our "Week 1, Day 1" to work on turning these bottoms into "Brazil Butts".  The program says it will take no more than six weeks, but I have to disagree there.  It took more than seventy years to perfect my droop, so it will take a lot more than six weeks to perky it up a bit.  But we shall work on it.

Did I mention that you are supposed to take 'before" and "after" photos?  Deanne and I have decided to forego the "before" photos.   There is also a booklet listing all the foods and meals that will work best with this exercise program.  If we stick to the planned meals, we shall starve.  So we've decided to keep our regular diets.

If we ever do get very good at learning this new program, I will consider taking a few photos.  But that will be a while yet.  Meanwhile, I do have a photo to share this morning.  I took this photo a few days ago.  There was a plane flying overhead, and it was just a small silver speck.  So surprise, surprise when I looked at the photo and saw that I could actually read the name of the airline.

That's all for my babbling this morning.  It's time to check on the Mrs again and make sure she's comfy.  Then I shall pack my bag and head on home to Tootsie.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Another Soggy Day Here

June 26, 2012

After a restless night with little sleep, I finally decided it was time to get up and make the most of the day.  Tonight is a work night, so with a little luck, maybe I can get a nap this afternoon.  The weather has settled into a cooler pattern for a while.  It is currently 64 degrees F, heading for 71.  The weatherman is calling for thunder storms today and tonight, and then again tomorrow.

I've been keeping my eye on the stormy weather in Florida.  I have family and friends there, and I'm praying that they all stay safe.  Tropical storm Debbie has caused so much flooding there, and left a lot of folks with no power.  The weather seems to be feast or famine.

Yesterday, we had thunder storms with a bit of lightning, and I tried to get photos of the lightning.  However, that was not so simple.  First, it was pouring rain and I did not want to get my camera wet, and second I could not see the lightning.  Hard to get a photo of what you can't see.

But I did get some photos of rain.  Yup!  Rain.  I  take pictures of whatever is at hand.  So I stood on my front porch and took photos of a tree through the rain coming down over the porch roof.  That looked like this.

I took more photos when we had a short break in the rain, and here you can see more of the tree.

I also have a pretty photo that might warm you up a bit after all this rain.  This is a Japanese Iris that I planted last year.  Sorry about the shadows, but the cherry tree has grown quite a lot and is providing a bit of shade for the Iris.   Isn't this gorgeous?  The photo was taken last week when it was so hot.

Aside from the weather, there's really not much news.  Last night, I did work a bit on some new freebies and our July collab kit.  Other than that, nothing exciting going on here.  So, on that note, I think I will go do a load of laundry.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Parts 5 & 6 "Monkey See, Monkey Do"

June 25, 2012

Good morning.  It's only 5:30, and I'm waiting for the weatherman to give me an idea of what to expect for today.  At the moment, it is quite nice outside.  66 F degrees, clear sky, puffy white clouds.  Nice.    Ahhh, he just spoke, and says we can expect thunderstorms today and tomorrow.  I guess that's why the sun is not shining yet.  Oh well.

Today I want to share a photo I took Saturday night.  It was taken through the window, after the sun went down.  So, I used a flash to see what sort of photo I could get.  I think it's quite interesting.

Once the flash went off, this little guy flew off to the top of the beauty bush.  I attempted to take a photo through the screen door and ended up with this rather interesting, foggyish silhouette.  When he saw me in the doorway, he started to fly off again.

Today, Su and I will be posting Parts 5 & 6 of our collab kit "Monkey See, Monkey Do".    It reminds me that soon the local fair will be opening soon.  I'm going to try my hand at photographing fireworks there.

Here are your download links:

When you have finished downloading, stop by Su's new blog and pick up her parts.  Don't forget to stop and say hello and thank you.  Here is Su's preview.

That's about all for this morning.  I'll be checking on the Mrs again shortly, and then packing up to go home.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Blue Dragon Fly

June 24, 2012

It's not quite 6 a.m. and looking like the start of another beautiful day.   The rains finally caught up with us yesterday afternoon and we got a good soaking.  Here, at work, they only got a lot of wind.  I noticed quite a few branches littering the roads and sidewalks as I was driving to work last night.

I was hoping to find some deer in the field across the street this morning, but so far none have shown up.  They used to be there every day, but now that so many people and their dogs go walking in the woods there, the deer don't come out so often.  I miss them.

A couple of days ago, I was finally able to get some photos of a dragonfly.   The Mrs and I were watching them play outside her bedroom window, so I went outside with my camera to see if I could get lucky.  Here is one little fellow.

After Mrs went to bed last night, I put this photo into Photoshop to play a bit and came up with this interesting blue photo art.  I used the "Painterly" texture from Bonnie at PDPA, and several blending modes in Photoshop.  I'll be posting this in Photo Art Friday at PDPA next later in the week for next weekend's photo art.

As I was working on this photo, I noticed a little white spot that did not belong, and was having the darndest time getting rid of it.  I just couldn't seem to find which layer the spot was on.  In the end, it occurred to me that the spot might be on my laptop screen.  DUH!  There it was!  One swipe and it was all gone.

One of the dwarfs has agreed to go out with me some night this upcoming week so that I can do some night photography.  Now I just have to decide where we will go.   I'm thinking that one of the places I would like to go is the ocean.   Maybe I'll get lucky and find a great sunset to photograph.

Well, that's about all my news for this morning.  It's time to be checking on the Mrs again before packing up to go home.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Looking For A Break In The Heat

June 23, 2012

Good morning.  It's a bit on the gray side here this morning,   Here's hoping that when the rain starts, we'll get more than the 57 drops that we got yesterday.  I understand that it was pouring just two towns over, but the downpour missed us.    No one is sleeping very well.  It's been so darn muggy and hot nights.   It's supposed to be a lot cooler today, around 79 or 80F, so that will be a bit of a blessing.

Yesterday morning at work, I took a photo through the window of the outdoor thermometer.  It wasn't even 8 o'clock yet.  Thank goodness the air conditioner was running.

Today will be a rather busy.  There is shopping to do, and I promised to take another of the dwarfs to the market.  In between, there is still laundry and of course a sink full of dishes.  I thought I might get out last night to do some night photography, but as soon as I was ready to go, the skies got darker and threatened to rain.  I changed my plans, and so did Mother Nature.

Next week, I definitely want to get out at least one night so that I can finish up these last two photo class assignments.  My problem with these lessons is that I don't particularly want to be out on the streets alone at night with a lot of expensive photo equipment.  Most of the dwarfs are in bed nights by 8:30.  I'll have to see if Janet has a free night where she could go with me.

There's really not much news this morning, so I'll get right to some photos of two of the roses that are blossoming in my garden.

Now it's time to get dressed and get the shopping done.  Here's hoping that everyone's weather is a bit more comfortable today.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

The Heat Wave Will Be Ending Soon

June 22, 2012

Good morning.  At the moment, it is quite lovely outside.  The temp is around 72F, but will soon be in the 90's again.  Later we are expecting some thunder showers.  Last night was certainly not a good night for sleeping.  Not only was it hot, but it was muggy.  I finally had to shut off the dehumidifier around 1 a.m. because I had already emptied out the water container twice.

This morning I am at work, and God willing, the Mrs will not give me a hard time later when I have to put the air conditioner on.  She's in her nineties, and doesn't seem to feel the heat like the rest of us do.   Thank goodness, the cooler temps will be coming back tomorrow.

Yesterday, I did a bit of searching on line about how to mount/frame a canvas print.  I wasn't really too successful, but I will keep looking.  At the very least, I will have to order the print already mounted on a backing of sorts.  I found a couple of places in one of my photo magazines that does this type of work.

The theme this week at Pixel Dust Photo Art is to make a regular photo look aged.  So, last night I played around a bit with a photo off Jazzy and Lilah.  It doesn't look too bad, and it was a lot of fun.
I used textures from Bonnie at PDPA (Painterly and Age It) along with some different blending modes in photoshop to accomplish this look.  Any one can join in the fun at PDPA, so click on their name and have a look at what some of the other folks have done.  Here is my photo.

Even the little critters were feeling the heat yesterday.  I looked out the kitchen window, and saw a little bunny run under my car for some cooling shade.  Of course, I grabbed my camera and tried to get a photo.  It was dark under the car so here are my best shots.

Now I must get busy here.  The Mrs will be waking soon, and I'm hoping to catch up a bit on my blog reading before she wakes.  So stay cool and drink lots of fluids.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Whew! Hot, Hot, Hot!

June 21, 2012

Good morning, and Whew!  It's a steamer!  Dee Dee and Eddie are coming by today, so I think I'll ask Eddie about putting in my air conditioner.  This dehumidifier is wonderful and does help to keep the temperature down, but the darn water container fills up too fast.  Once it is full, I have to shut the machine off and empty the container.  I would love to run it all night so that I can sleep, but the bucket would overflow and I would really have a mess to clean up.

It's only 10:30 and it's already 92 degrees, and heading towards 99 or 100 with a heat index of 105.  The good thing is that cooler temps are coming starting Saturday.  Unfortunately,  I have to work tomorrow, and the Mrs does not like us to put on the air conditioner.  I'm not looking forward to this.

The mail lady just brought me another package.  Yesterday, she brought Tootsie's meds, and today she brought a couple of large prints that I had ordered.  Oh my, they are soooo nice!  I had enlargements made of my "Blackbirds" and a photo of one of my rosebushes.  Today, I will get them framed.

I want to try having a print done on canvas, but first I have to learn how to attach it to a wall mounting.  This is a new topic for me, so I'll have to start researching it on Google.  I'm sure somewhere there is a tutorial for it.

This week it's my turn to post a new photography theme at Hummies World.  I've picked the color orange, and posted a photo of one of my lilies.  In this photo, I raised the lilies up and used a bit of bevel and shadow on them just to be different.

I also have a photo of a butterfly that I took a few days ago at work.  This year, the butterflies and dragonflies are really making me work for a photo.  They are very flitty and hardly ever landing.

The weather fellow (on TV) just announced that today every state in the country except for Alaska and North Dakota will reach 90 degrees.  Wow!  I wonder if this is a sneak peek at what the summer holds for us.

On this note, I am going to put in a load of laundry, and rustle up some lunch for Tootsie and me.  Till tomorrow, Y'all keep cool and have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GARY JR.

June 20, 2012

Good morning.  Today is going to be a steamer, hot, hot, hot.  It's also my son's birthday, so the hot weather is quite befitting.  The day he was born was also a wicked hot steamer.  Gary Jr, I hope your special day is filled with love and happiness.  Happy Birthday and I love you.

Today is also the first day of summer.  It's unbelievable how quickly it got here.  I guess we won't be having a veggie garden this year.  Planting time was not so good for planting, and now there really isn't much of a growing season ahead.  Maybe we'll still try to put in some tomatoes.  We'll see.

What else is happening today?  It's the last day of school in our area.  That means that Dee Dee and I can start working on our Brazil Butts.  Jasmine wants to join us, but I'm not sure why.  Her little butt is right where it belongs.  Mine is the one that has dropped low enough to almost kiss the back of my knees.  Now that's going to take a bit work!

There's not much news for today.  I do have a couple of hummingbird photos to share.  These were taken a few days ago at work.

I keep trying to get a decent photo of the male hummingbird, but he is such an elusive little bird.  His eyesight is super keen, and he seems to flit in, get a sip of food, and flit right out again in just a fraction of a second.  But I keep trying.

Now I'm off to make some brunch for Tootsie and me.  She's lying here beside me and watching SpongeBob SquarePants on TV.  She just loves the cartoons.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Lovely Morning Surprise

June 19, 2012

Good morning.  It's quite nice outside at the moment.  A bit cloudy with lots of sunshine mixed in.  Mother Nature is gearing up to dump some hot muggy stuff on us starting tomorrow to celebrate the beginning of summer.

Yesterday, my mind had so many ideas of things to do, but my body had other ideas.  It decided to make it another lazy day with a nap in the middle.  Tootsie didn't mind though.  She actually likes to take naps.  I think today, though, we will be wanting to get outside for a bit before the heat gets here.

Yesterday morning, just before I left work I had a lovely surprise.  I went outside to put my workbag into my car, and noticed a deer standing across the street,  It looked as if it were pondering whether or not it wanted to cross the street.

I got my camera and came back out to get some photos.  Once the deer noticed me taking pictures, it turned and ran back into the field.  It made me wonder if maybe if this was Gator, the deer that was raised next door.  Hmmmm.  Usually, the deer don't come out of the woods here by themselves.  They usually travel in small groups.

I've been missing seeing the deer in the field across the street.  There's been building going on, and what with all the people and vehicles (and dogs), the deer just don't come out so often anymore.  So this was quite a nice treat.

Nice it's time to start thinking about what to make for Tootsie and me for lunch.  After that, maybe we'll just hop into the car and go somewhere.  We'll see.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Fathers' Day

June 17,  2012

Good morning.  The sun is shining brightly, and it's a bit on the cool side.  It's 59 degrees, and working it's way up to the mid 60's.  It's also Fathers' Day.  So to all you guys out there, I wish you a super grand day.

Yesterday, I was  going to do a bit of food shopping, but somehow the lazies got to me.  Instead of running around, Tootsie and I had ourselves a very enjoyale lazy day.  Besides, Tootsie didn't want to stray too far from the potty room.  Hopefully, that problem is better now.

Later in the afternoon, Eddie came by with the boys for a visit.  Here's a photo of moi with my great grandson Niko, and my grandson Kevin (a.k.a. Koolaid).

After everyone went home, I played on my laptop for a while to create a QP for the Quick Page collection game at DigiScrapStation.  I've included both an 8x8 and a 12x12 size in the folder.   The kit I used was created by Lily Kay.

And here is your download link:

EXPIRED

I also have an interesting photo to share this morning.  The lighting isn't great, but I don't usually get to see the hummingbirds with their mouth open.   Actually, I didn't see this until I looked at the photos on my laptop.  When photographing nature, I keep my camera on continuous shoot.  It gets me some interesting shtos.

Now I want to get dressed, and make a quick run to the market.  I still have a bit of laundry to do this afternoon, then it's back to work tonight.  Tomorrow, I'll be back with two more parts of our collab kit,  "Monkey See, Monkey Do".  Till then, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

God, It's Me And We Need To Talk

June 15, 2012

Today I need to have a little chat with God.  So stop right here, and just scroll all the way to the bottom to the photos.

God, I need a few moments of your time to try to work my way through some troubling time.

I was raised in a world where you respected your elders and most everyone in general.  You did not have to like everybody, and you did not have to act like the people you didn't like were your best friends.  You just had to respect other people and their feelings and beliefs.

My world has also been one filled with tremendous loss.  Because of my mother's illness, we kids were brought up separated from the rest of the family.  Next came the loss of my parents.  My youngest child was given into a world of her own at four months when she contracted meningitis, never to know us again.  My eldest child was among the missing for nearly thirteen years before being reunited with us.  I have to say that this was the worst loss because of the unknown.  Is she alive?  Is she okay?  This has to be the biggest heartbreak for parents.  At least death has an ending.

Next came the deaths of my two best  friends.  In between all of this, life happens and continues to toss in lots of painful obstacles.  But I persevered.  After this I lost a daughter to a car crash, my hubby was next, and then my brother.  My little dog has been battling a nasty debilitating disease for nearly seven years, all with no complaining.

When Michael and I met and fell in love, it wasn't all peaches and cream.  The biggest problem was my soon to be mother in law.  This lady spent a good many years doing her best to make my life hell.  Not only did I come along after hubby and his ex-wife decide to divorce (this alone made me a tart), but the real biggie was that I was not Jewish.  Ma Ruth wanted a nice Jewish girl for her son, and that was that!  I'm protestant.

Through all of this, I was never rude to her.  I did not like her very much, but she was my Michael's mother.  I never tried to stop him from spending time with her or doing things for her.  I never ever made him feel that he had to choose between her or me.  This was his mom, and he had every right to love her and be with her.  I think this is probably part of the reason that as the years went by, Ma Ruth actually came to like me and accept me as her daughter in law.

When my son remarried, I thought his new wife was just lovely.  She was very pretty and soft spoken.  But she lied to me about a few things.  I let all of this go, and accepted her for who and what she was.  My girls and her did not get along for various reasons, and I spent many years trying to keep the peace so as not to alienate my daughter in law.  So many times, I bit my tongue and kept my feelings to myself.

I did not have to agree with her ways, but I did respect her and her wishes.  She was my son's chosen partner.  He should love her and their children first, but then still love and enjoy the rest of his family.  This, however, was not to be.  His wife has spent so much effort over the years alienating him from the rest of us.   I won't go into all the many details, but a lot of it has really hurt my heart.

Yesterday, I got a package in the mail.  This one was another heart breaker.  I sent my son a package of coffees because I know that they like ground coffee, and can't always get their favorite kind near where they live in Florida.  The coffee was returned to me along with a "like her or else" letter.  So I guess she's not going to let him even have a connection with me any more.

My son now only has one family member left that he's allowed to be friendly with.  I can only guess how long that will last.  I have never mentioned this lady or her children by name here (that I can remember), and I've never posted their photos here because she forbade me to.  I respected her wishes, and left them off  my blog.  A little over a year ago, Belinda and her children, Jeremy, Jessyca and Jordyn let me know in no uncertain terms that either I played nice nice to Belinda, or they would have nothing more to do with me.

So now, they seem to all have hurt feelings because I no longer send cards or presents.  No more phone calls just to see how they are doing.  Excuse me, but they DID say they wanted nothing to do with me.  So why do they still want cards or presents?  Why do they feel like I abandoned them?  Don't they realize that they chose to abandon me?

God, my heart is heavy and I'm really getting tired of all these mountains you keep leading me to.  Can't you make them just small hills?   At least for a while?  I know I shouldn't be whining, but this morning I'm a bit tired and feeling blue.  It will pass.

I am thankful God, for all the blessings you have bestowed upon me.  Today I will change from my flip flops to my sneakers, at least until I get to the other side of this hill.   And God, thank you for letting me get a lot of this off my chest.  Now I'm going to hug Tootsie and enjoy my day with her.

Love, Me.

Here are some turkey photos that I took around 5 a.m. this morning at work.  I think they are quite appropriate for today.  lol.

A Long Busy Day Today

June 14, 2012

Good morning.  It must have rained through the night because everything is wet this morning, but the sun is shining beautifully now.  The weatherman is promising us a gorgeous day.  Today, I'm at work, so here's hoping that the next couple of days are just as nice.  (I will be off then.)  This will be a long day.  I work till 3 pm, then go home to feed Tootsie and give her some meds, and then back to work by 7 pm till 7 am tomorrow.

Mrs has an appointment this morning to have her eye checked.  Last week, she had her second cataract removed.  So far, things are going nicely for her, and it's good that she can see well again.

I have a couple of photos that I took yesterday of the raindrops on the rosebush outside my door.  They really are fascinating, and they make such pretty photo art.

Here's another photo that I took a couple of weeks ago here at work.  This is a bald-faced hornet.  I had to look it up on Google to find it's proper name.  I just thought that it's coloring was quite interesting.  (Do some hornets have hairy faces?  Hmmmm.)

There's really not much news for this morning, so I'll take my leave here.  The Mrs will be waking soon anyway.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Yesterday Was Simply Awesome!

June 13, 2012

It's gray and wet outside this morning, but that's okay because I do not have to go out to do errands today.  It's a good day to catch up on some laundry.  Who knows, I might even squeeze in a little housework too.

Yesterday was such a fun day.  When we got to the new doggie beauty salon the fun started.  One of the groomers had her two Chinese Cresteds there with her.  I've never seen two Cresteds together, and really enjoyed this.  These are beautiful dogs, very royal looking.  Everyone in the shop really seemed to love animals.

While Tootsie was enjoying some pampering, Eddie and I poked around next door in a seed store.  Gosh, what a fun store!  We were chatting with the woman at the counter, and I just couldn't stop staring at her.  I was really getting excited here.  This couldn't be, yet maybe it could.  Standing before me was my favorite female singer, k.d.Lang.

I finally couldn't contain myself any longer and blurted out "Has anyone told you that you look exactly like k.d.Lang?"  The woman laughed and said "All the time!"  I've been stopped and asked for autographs many times.  I've even  had the owner of a restaurant send champagne to my table and come by to tell me how honored he is to have me at his restaurant.  Alas, I'm not she, my name is Melissa and I own this building and the businesses in it."

Well, blow me down!  We had a delightful time chatting with Melissa, and looking at all the wonderful products in her store.  When we left here, we went on up the road to Patriots Place.  This is the New Englalnd Patriots stadium and shopping center.  Wowee, what a gorgeous place.

We only had time to explore one of the stores, so we picked The Christmas Tree Shoppe.  Oh boy!  You walk in the door, and right off you know you're going to have to spend some time and bunches of money on all the fabulous goodies.  Did I?  Well of course.  I'm a girly girl, and love to shop.  While we were at the checkout, my phone rang.  Tootsie was ready to be picked up.  What perfect timing!

Enough of my chatter.  I have some photos to share that I took a few days ago at work.  While I was trying to get a decent shot of the hummingbirds, I noticed this little one hiding inside the rhododendron bush.  Click!  Wow, not a bad shot.

Next, I have one of the plants that grows in Mrs' front yard.  I forget the name of it, but it's quite interesting.

Last, I have a photo of "baby grapes".  Pretty soon, they will be big and round and juicy, and the birds will have a feast.

Now I need to get busy here.  I want to get the laundry started and think about what's for lunch.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I'm Putting My Cape And Tight Suit Away

June 12, 2012

Tis another gorgeous morning here, and I want to enjoy as much of the outdoors as I can because I hear that we have a few days of rain on its way.

In a little while, Tootsie and I will be on our way to her beauty salon appointment.  Her favorite groomer has moved to a new town, so Eddie will be going with us to make sure we don't have a problem finding the shop.

Gosh, I can't believe how un-gutsy this old gal has become.  I often wondered what happened to super heroes when they reached their golden (I use that term quite loosely) years.  Now I know.  They become very cautious old geezers and geezerettes. Where we once flew from tall building to tall building, we now walk slowly and carefully.

I think back to my younger years, and I'm amazed at the amount of energy that I had and all that I was able to accomplish.  Now, during the same twnety four hour days, I feel pretty good if I manage to take care of one little doggie, wash the dishes and the laundry, and play on the computer too.  Hmmm, I  guess that means that I'm not a geezerette quite yet.

Today, I have some photos to share that I took from our kitchen window a few days ago.  This is one of the female cardinals that frequents our "birdie diner".

Now it's time for me to get dressed and maybe rustle up a bit of breakfast for Tootsie and me before it's time to leave for her appointment.  I'm wishing this wonderful weather for all of you.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
