Not My Best Day

February 26, 2009

When I find who gave this rotten cold, "To the Moon, Pal!!" I have to go see my doctor this afternoon. Ever wonder why doctors make you get up out of a sick bed to go to his office, and infect everybody there, only to have him tell you that you 're not well? I already told him that on the phone!!!

I'm supposed to work tomorrow, but I don't think that's a good idea. My lady is in her 90's, and is already sick so she doesn't need my cold. My plans just aren't going well this week. I was supposed to have my nails done this afternoon, but I don't have the energy. Now I'll have to have them done Saturday whether I feel like it or not. Oh my, poor baby.

I did have nice news though. Lady Shannon has given me a lovely new award, and she's made me a beautiful blinkie. I will do the award tomorrow, and as soon as I can figure out how to pick that blinkie up intact, I will post it here on my blog. For some reason, the words don't come over with the graphic. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong, and I don't know just what, but then I never had a blinkie of my own.

Miss Tootsie is giving me fits. No matter what I feed her, she doesn't eat. This is not a good time for her to increase her pickiness. And for her information, this will not get her roast beef and roast chicken everyday instead. It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature or me.

My bright spot today was the two slideshows that Kyra sent to me. they were just wonderful. They are chock full of gorgeous photography. Nothing like beautiful photos to pick you up on a grey day.

It's time for me to get dressed to go see my doctor - God bless him, he looks like a teenager, and that's enough to make you depressed. No pictures today, just chat. I will try to do better tomorrow. Y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Bad Weather Coming

February 25, 2009

First let me give you the special credits for yesterday's QP -- they are Granny Art and Gimei. Just so you know, even when I don't post the credits here on the blog, they are most definitely included with the download. Sometimes they will be listed here on the blog (when I remember) and sometimes you will have to download to read the credits.

If you haven't noticed, there are only three more days to this month, and that means that two whole months have slipped right by quick as a wink. Pretty soon it will be Spring (one of my two favorite seasons - the other being Autumn).

As I sit here typing, I'm keeping an eye on the weather channel. It's not looking very good for my trip on Sunday. I'm supposed to be flying out Sunday, but Mr. Weatherman, bless his little heart, is saying that we have some nasty snow and rain coming in for Sunday. NOT GOOD.

This does not make me happy. The last plane that crashed had ice on it's wings. I will need my Angels with me Sunday.

New topic!! I don't know where it came from, but I have the dooziest of a cold. Can you imagine how bad it will be after sucking in all that nasty plane air? I think I had better call my doctor to see what he suggests. Some of the dwarfs and Moo are just getting over nasty colds.
Thanks guys!!

I had some very nice company all afternoon, my daughter in law was here, and we watched some re-runs of Top Chef. I spent the evening working on a layout for the letter "I" challenge at Magickal Scraps. Do you know hard it is to find the right words for these challenge? Well, I racked my brain, and finally settled on Ice Cream. Tootsie and I do like ice cream.

So before I leave you to go watch the finals for Top Chef, I will share my new layout with you.
Y'all have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

An Award And An Oscar!

February 24, 2009

My goodness, lots of warm fuzzies today. Not only do I have a new award to share, but I also have an Oscar! I will get to those in a few minutes. First I want to tell you about a freebie for today.

Losing a special pet can be devastating. Last night, I worked all evening on a QP layout. It was originally supposed to be for a challenge at GDS http://www.godigitalscrapping.com/. Then as I was working on it, it became something else -- A layout for Rainbow Bridge. It took me all evening to get it just right. So, Crooknees, this is for you and everyone else who has lost a very special pet friend. I hope you like it. (It's posted at bottom of this post.)

Now for my Nagrada Award from Kyra at http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/. This is just beautiful, Kyra, thank you so very much.

I will nominate for this award:

Don't forget the rules, acknowledge who gave it to you, nominate other deserving blogs and let them know by posting a note to their blogs.

From Snow Raven, I received the Blogger Ocar. This is for blogs in which the owner is generous by giving freebies, entertaining and interesting to read and overall -- a blog I would definitely come back to again and again. Wow! I am definitely feeling very honored. Thank you so much, Snowy. Now I need a glass of cold water - my head is swelling. lol.

I would have passed this on to Kyra, Granny and Deb, but they already have it, and they so well deserve it. So my nominees are:

You may pass this on to anyone else that you think is deserving, and let them know by leaving a message on their blog.

All of my nominees have wonderful blogs, so give yourselves a treat and visit them. Now I must go and pay some attention to Miss Tootsie. She has been waiting patiently for me to finish so that we can play ball. Enjoy your freebie, and y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Back In Design Mode

February 23, 2009

Woo Hoo!! I made it to another day without bemoaning my stupid new computer. ( I know, I know, that statement just blew it!) Any day that I can sit in front of it and actually accomplish something is a good day.

Last night at work, I had my trustee laptop with me (good ole Windows XP), and I managed to accomplish quite a bit. I will be choosing the color scheme and the theme for the July daily downloads for the forum at Magickal Scraps, so that's what I worked on. I made my color chart, and finished all my papers. After that, I made a batch of new papers and patterns for future kits.

My goal was to be a designer in the forum store by Spring, but I doubt that's going to happen. Too many life things got in my way. So now I'll shoot for Summer. Who knows, maybe I'll make it. Hopefully while on vacation, I will be able to spend a lot of quality time working on my pc.

This morning while I was checking my blog, I find that Miss Kyra has bestowed another beautiful award upon Moi. Oh I do feel loved!!! Thank you so much, my friend. I will post it and my nominees tomorrow. I need to think a bit.

Before I trundle on in to my room for a much needed nap, (I can hear Tootsie groaning now!), I want to share a delightful picture that my friend Mary Ann sent to me. It's a gorgeous Llama. Just check out those big beautiful eyes! At that, y'all have a fantastic day. I'm off for a little nap.

Hugs, Edna B.

Another Beautiful Award

February 22, 2009

Tootsie got me up at 3:15 this morning. My special littl girl wanted to play ball. Can you imagine? This is the third time she's done this lately. I made sure she made a potty stop first, then we played ball for a while. Next, I checked all my emails and the forum.

I ended up having to upload my previews for April DD's to the forum. Yup! You heard me right! We already have April half done. We have a truly amazing group at our forum at Magickal Scraps. I thoroughly enjoy working with this terrific group of ladies.

After I finished all this, I put in a brand new DVD that my daughter-in-law in Florida sent to me. It is a "Flick Back" from the year I was born - all sorts of news, sports, people and events from that year. That's the year that the movie "Gone With The Wind" first came out, we weren't in World War II yet, and the president of the United States was Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I'm old, huh?

Well, I had me a wonderful trip down memory lane over a nice hot cup of coffee. What a great way to start the day. Thank you, Belinda.

I also want to share another beautiful "Friends" award that I received a couple of days ago from Kyra @ http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/. This lovely lady manages to put a huge smile on my face just about every day. She's also one of the finest designers I know, and a great team member. Do visit her blog, and say "hello" from me.

The rules are simple: Post it on your blog, Refer to the person who gave it to you, Nominate 5-7 other persons, Let them know by posting a note on their blog.

My nominees are:

I'm off now to forage into the world of "PC versus Human" challenge. Notice no squawking so far today? I really am trying to be good. Y'all have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Catching Up A Bit

February 21, 2009

Another day, another battle lost with Vista. This is a boring game. I need to find a way to bring back some of my favorite programs. Maybe then I won't dislike this stupid pc so much.

At least today, I was able to finish zipping up and uploading my portion of the March Daily Downloads for the Magickal Scraps forum. I also finished my portion for the April DD's. Now I just have a few more challenges to finish up and my March challenge posting bonuses. Ye gads! I just might make it.

The sun is shining brightly today, although it's not very warming. We're in the middle of a cold streak. Nice weather to stay indoors and watch TV. Or do laundry and vacuuming. Well, my vacuum cleaner just broke, so that takes care of the vacuuming for a while. I can live with that.

Today, I tried to put a map on this blog, and froze everything up tight as can be. Then I had to figure out how to get the damn thing off and get my blog running again. But I am persistent. I will make another attempt.

I'm going to post you a freebie, ( the matching QP to yesterdays layout) then take 2 Advil and go back for more punishment from this pc. Y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Do You Know If There's A Back-Up Fairy?

February 20, 2009

After I left for work last night, Buster Brown (Wayne) showed up and spent 2 1/2 hours playing on my computer. What he fixed, I don't know. What I do know, is that none of my programs are installed yet. It seems that they either won't go in, or Vista and Trend Micro and HP just won't let them go in. Needless to say, I am extremely upset, and for just a nickel or so, I'd take an axe to this piece of crap that's supposed to be a fantastic computer.

I'm done venting for a while. I wish I could meet the back-up fairy. Then she could take my old pc back to where it was working fine, and I'd be a happy little camper. All my programs would be up and running, oh boy, oh boy.

Last night at work I worked on the ABC challenge for Magickal Scraps. This month the letters are "H" & "I." I haven't come up with a word yet for the letter I, but I will. My word for the letter H is "High." I get so high on life. Even Tootsie does. When she runs after her ball, she uses all the gusto she can muster up, and is tickled pink with herself when she picks the ball up. We don't need drugs or alcohol to get high. Everyday brings some new thing or challenge that keeps the adrenaline pumping.

Tonight, I have to find some stuff that was here on my pc last night, and today is playing hide and go seek. Don't you just love love it? Being outsmarted by some little plastic nerds hiding inside a big shiny black tower that's constantly covered in dust?

Did I tell you about my orthopedic check up the other day? I was telling my doctor about the wicked bad leg cramps and how do I make them tolerable. He told me to drink quinine water every night, and that would help some. So on my way home, I stopped at Walgreen's Pharmacy to buy some quinine water.

I looked all over the store, and finally asked an employee where it was. He looked at me like I had three heads. After a ten minute go-round, the guy said they didn't carry it. So now I went home and looked on the internet to see who carried it. I hate to tell you what the internet gave me. I plugged in quinine water and my zip code. It gave me all sorts of water bottles, water machines, and all kinds of other strange stuff - but no quinine water.

Next I called Shaw's Supermarket and asked for the manager in charge of water. It took five minutes of spelling quinine over and over to this nitwit, only to have him say that "Are you sure that's what it is? and, We don't carry that product."

While my brother was out doing an errand, he stopped at a local Stop & Shop Supermarket, and bought me four bottles. Success at last!! It's only been two days, so I don't know yet if it helps or not.

So now I'm going to see what kind of trouble I can get into with this pc. Y'all have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

New Awards To Share

February 19, 2009

Well, I'm still here. Vista hasn't scared me off yet. What a BIG BULLY!! I am absolutely amazed at the stuff Microsoft has changed for God knows what reasons! Probably the only things they didn't change were the things that didn't work very well anyway. For some reason, Mocrosoft isn't happy unless we are all battling day to day to find our way through and around our operating system. GET A LIFE MICROSOFT!!!

Enough already. Let me share some pleasant news with you. These past few days, while I've been floating in and out of reality, I did receive some very nice awards.

From Davonna at http://chroniclesofnani.blogspot.com/, I received two awards. The Scrapping Star Award, which I have already received and passed on to some other very deserving scrappers, and the Amazing Artist Award. Thank you Nani, this means a lot to me. Everybody, you really must visit her blog, and enjoy her fascinating stories and fantastic scraps.

And from Lady D at http://deliciousfx.blogspot.com/, I received the Look How Cool award. Thank you so much. You've really made my day. Y'all need to check out this wonderful blog. Here, you will find some really exquisite backgrounds for your blog. Plus she has a marvelous blog for PSPers.

The rules are fairy simple and similar. Acknowledge and link to the person who gave you the award, nominate 5-7 others (averaged out) and let them know by posting a note on their blogs.

My nominees are:
Kyra @ http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/
Snow Raven @ http://silversnowyraven.blogspot.com/
Granny @ http://grannyart.blogspot.com/
Deb @ http://thescrappincop.blogspot.com/
Lady Shannon @ http://ladyshannonmemoriesmadeeasy.blogspot.com/
Efie @ http://efies.blogspot.com/

That's it for today. Tonight's a work night and all day tomorrow. I'm filling in for someone else tonight. You have a great day now.

Hugs, Edna B.

Take 2 Advil And Think Positively

February 18, 2009

Well, I've made it through another day on the monster machine. We are learning how to tolerate each other. I tell it what I want to do, and it tells me know what it's going to let me do. So I'm not exactly winning - but I'm not losing!

Stay positive, things just have to get better. And I think they just might. I actually made some scrap stuff and finished a layout on this new pc. I'm not just trying to recoup some of my files, but I also have to learn Vista. I'm not nuts about it because it doesn't like most of my favorite programs, and won't run them. Also, I now have Photoshop PS CS4, and it's a whole new learning experience.

Why is it when companies upgrade a terrific product or program, they feel they have to rearrange everything, hide as many things as possible, and take away anything that's not broken. I spent an hour last night looking for the little tab that shows the history of the layout I'm working on. An hour!!!

I spent the better part of the evening fighting with CS4 trying to keep my item windows open long enough to work on them. This morning I clicked damn near every button to see what it would do - and voila!! my little individual windows came back. This is not a very nice thing to do to little old ladies like me. Or anybody else for that matter.

Before I turn in for the night, I'll share the layout I made for the chat last Friday night. Snow Raven supplied the frame and tag and a couple of PS styles, and the rest was up to us. Enjoy.
Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

There's Hope Yet For The New PC

February 16, 2009

It's a new day, and I'm still wearing a smile. It's so much easier than frowning. Wayne came by this morning, and fixed yesterday's problem, and will be back to do something else. He'll even install a couple of my programs. Who knows, I may even get to use this foolish new pc yet in the near future.

At least right now, it's letting me type this post. I'm also doing some stuff on my laptop, so I need to go check on it. Be right back...........

February 17, 2009

Well, not quite right back. It was a long day, and I wasn't too thrilled with that new PC, plus I was exhausted. So I went to bed early. Today is another day.

You know, no matter how crappy the day goes, I open my emails, and there are lots of smiles and hugs waiting there for me. I just love my emails. Plus I did play a lot with Tootsie, and get one or two good deeds done.

Vista and Micro Trend are still not getting along very well with HP. They're like a bunch of little brats trying to outdo each other. When one thing works, another quits. They've already decided that my jigsaw puzzle program that I love dearly just is not going to be allowed to play with the big kids on this new pc. So now if I want to do a jigsaw puzzle to relax, I will have to fire up this ole laptop. Gish!!

But I will still try to smile today. Tootsie and I have to do some errands. I need to get to the post office, then to town hall for a new license for Tootsie, then to Walmart to stock up on our favorite doggie foods. After that, we will attempt to master (or at least make friends with) the new big black monster that sits on our PC desk. It's easy to find. It's big and shiny black and covered with dust constantly. It's like a huge dust magnet. Turn it on and it cries out to all the dust "Quick! Jump on me! Hurry!!!"

That's it for today. No pictures yet. I can't even find any of my stuff on that PC. And every time it gets shut off, when you turn it back on - Vista has gone and moved everything back where it wants it. Must be me - that thing hates me.

We're having a cup of coffee and a greenie. (the greenie is for Tootsie). Have yourselves a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Blahs, Won't You Go Away

February 15, 2009

Well, I had my little snit rest, and by now I should be dancing all around my new PC, but that's not to be just yet. Vista, Micro Trend, and HP just don't get along with each other, and they are taking it out on my new PC. Not to mention that a lot of my programs just aren't going to work with Vista.

Thank goodness I have my trustee old laptop to fall back on. That said, I am just going to have to pretend that the sky isn't falling (Chicken Little said it was!), and do the best I can with my laptop.

What I did manage to do last night, was whip up a Valentine QP for you. It's different, and it's blue. Hope you like it. Friday night was chat night for our forum at Magickal Scraps, and did we ever have fun. The whole gang was there, and the chat lasted for more than two hours. It did me good to share all that laughter and comaraderie.

I'm offf now to see what else I can cook up tonight. I am so far behind on everything. Not to worry, I will get there. Remember the tortoise? Have a great night and enjoy your freebie.

Hugs, Edna B.

Taking A Couple Days Off

Not A Smart Day

February 11, 2009

Last night, Wayne came by and picked up my new computer, and hopefully I will have it back sometime Sunday or Monday. Mine is not his only job, darn it! I'll just have to be patient.

Today I tried working on a project, but it is just so frustrating and slow, that I'm not really accomplishing much. I may have to set up the laptop to finish some of my projects.

Yesterday I bought a small adding machine with a paper roller on it, because I need to actually see the numbers on the paper to make sure I'm not making errors while doing my bookkeeeping chores (check book, bank statements, etc.). I was all excited about using it to balance my check book, but there wasn't anything to hold the paper roll. I read the instructions several times, and checked the unit over and over, but no soap.

To make a long story short, I returned it today. The salesperson looked it over, flipped up a plastic thing (which I couldn't seem to budge), and pulled out the little paper roll hanger. DUH!
So, red faced and embarrassed, I gathered up all my stuff and left to go home. This is obviously not a smart day.

Tonight, Tootsie and I are going to retire early, get comfy and snuggle up in blankets to watch our favorite seasonal show, "Top Chef." It's getting near to the end of the competition, so I don't want to miss any of it. I'll tackle the computer again tomorrow. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

A New Award

February 10, 2009

My, what a busy day we've had today. Early morning chemo treatment for Tootsie, then Moi got to go out and spend a couple of hours giving the salesman all sorts of grief with a thousand questions before buying a new computer, then back for another chemo treatment and bloodwork to check on Tootsie's progress. So far, she is still in remission. Thank you, thank you.
And I got another award from both Kyra @http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com and
Granny @http://grannyart.blogspot.com. Be good to yourselves and pay these ladies a visit. They always have such wonderful things to share.

The rules are quite simple:
1 - Put the award on your blog/post.
2 - Nomimate 1o blogs that show great attitude or gratitude.
3 - Link to your nominees within your post.
4 - Let them know they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
5 - Share the love and link to this post with the person(s) from whom you received your award.
I am giving this award to:
There were others I would like to have given it to, but they have already received it.
Don't you just love this "Blogspot" setup? I had two whole paragraphs written about today, and they just went "poof!" Don't know what I touched accidently, but they've gone bye bye. It must be a sign that it wasn't very important anyway.
Now I must go and see about copying files, etc, that I don't want to lose in the shuffle from the old computer to the new computer. You know - small programs, favorites, links, new stuff, etc. So you have a great night.
Hugs, Edna B.

Learning New Things

February 9, 2009

Today is a very tired day. Last night was a work night, the sun went in, we had an early morning chemo appointment for Tootsie, and we can't have a nap because we have to go back for this afternoon's chemo. Tomorrow we have two more chemo appointments, and then we're done for another six weeks. At least tomorrow we won't be as tired.

Last night, I spent almost 4 hours downloading lost fonts, and trying to make scrapping elements using dingbat fonts. I finally ended up with two frames, one for Easter, and one with flowers. Today, I put them on a layout for the DesignTechnique challenge at Magickal Scraps. I will put the layout at the end of this post.

My computer is becoming very frustrating to work on. It's very slow, and it has a mind of it's own. Smack in the middle of a project, the whole screen goes away, and the only way out is to use the power button to shut down, then reboot. Not fun. So I guess I have to stop fitzeling, and go buy the new computer. I procrastinate, hoping that this old pc will get better, but that's just not happening.

Moo just came back from food shopping, so I need to go see if he needs any help. Have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Gots A Headache From Laughing

February 8, 2009

My oh my, I have a headache from laughing over the comments from yesterday's blog post. I even got comments over the phone. If you haven't read them yet, scroll down to yesterday, and check them out.

Mr. Rummage Kid, you're absolutely right. You got a damn good deal! As for me, it was a dollar well spent. I may joke about her vocation and hobbies, but I sure as billy be damn am proud of her and my other kids. Even my grandchildren make me smile. Today I got a call from one very lovely grandaughter, telling how my great grandson has two teeth and runs all over the house in his little walker. He's five months old. My youngest grandaughter called yesterday to say that both she and her brother made the honor roll. She got all A's and a B. My grandchildren down South are also on the honor roll. I guess that makes me one very proud Meema.

Today, I thought I would share a couple of layouts that I made for friends of mine. My friend Mary Ann sent me some lovely photos of llamas, and I just couldn't resist using a couple of them to make her a valentine. Her husband, Gene, loves old planes, so that's what I put on his. Enjoy, and have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Such A Beautiful Day Today

February 7, 2009

What a gorgeous day it was today. Almost like Spring, except there was still snow everywhere. Lots of icicles dripping, thank goodness. Maybe we can get lucky and get another day like this. I know, I know. Don't be greedy. Ah well, I can think it anyway.

Tonight I can't chat too long, because I'm supposed to be working. I got so busy earlier trying to work out my travel itinerary, and get things reserved and paid for, that I ran out of time to do my blog. At least that part is all settled.

I have no photo to share tonight, but I'll make up for it tomorrow. I was talking to daughter #1 a little while ago, and made the mistake of asking "So what have you been doing?" Her reply was "You don't want to know." That can only mean that she was stuffing or whatever some poor little dead creature. I swear I got her at a rummage sale - you know the ones where you pay $1 for a whole bag of stuff and you don't know what you're getting until you get home and empty out the bag! Good grief! She shoots em up, skins em out, cooks and serves them up, and stuffs the leftovers to look like they're still here with us. Yup, it must have been a rummage sale bag.

I think on that note, I better go check on my patient. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Break In The Weather

February 6, 2009

Whew! I never thought I'd get through today unscathed by the tax man. So surprise, surprise, I was okay. I had all the figures, just have to get breakdowns for a couple of them. And I already have those figures sitting on the table waiting to take back to my accountant.

Boy do I ever feel much better now. I can't tell you how much I don't like keeping records and papers and receipts for just this occasion. It's bad enough remembering to put all the bills in one envelope and all the receipts in another. But then to have to break them all down, tally them all up, Ugh! I'd rather do housework, and I hate housework.

Today was a bit warmer, and I guess tomorrow is supposed to be swimming weather. Hopefully, it will melt the wicked icicles that are stuck on my downspouts, from the roof all the way down to the ground.

Tootsie went to the beauty parlor this afternoon, and I went shopping to check out some computers while I was waiting. I went to Best Buy, and I met up with a little old lady, God bless her, who was trying to decide between a desk top and a lap top. She followed me around for at least a half an hour trying to pick my brains as to which one would be best for her.

The ones she was looking at were power demons. Big screens, big hard drives, etc. I asked her what she kind of computer she had at home, and she said none. I asked her what she would be doing on the computer, and she said just email and checking her investments on-line. So I told her that she could probably get a much cheaper one than she was looking at that wasn't quite so powerful. She gave me a funny look and said "Are you crazy? The one on sale has so much more than the cheaper one."

Right about then, the beauty salon called to say that Tootsie was almost ready for pickup, so I gently pried myself away and left. All the way back to Petco, I was giggling - that little darling was way up in her eighties if she was a day. Don't you just love it???

Time for me to play a bit more with Tootsie, then we will put on some comfy jammies and snuggle up in bed to watch some television. Before I leave, I will share a photo of the view from my window this morning. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hey, Rhoda - do you miss this??

Cheers For Ms. Iglesias

February 5, 2009

Boy oh boy, it was a bit nippy this morning when I went out. 2 degrees and windchill of 7 below 0. Of course, as the day went on, it warmed up quite a bit - all the way up to about 14 I think. Now the weatherman says we have 40 degree weather coming for the weekend. Sounds like New England weather, all right.

If it wasn't so cold, I might be tempted to go and get some great photos. The scenery in some places is exquisite. But I'm not so crazy about tromping around in the cold. Too bad Harry.

I was reading the obituaries today dated Feb 2, 2009, and came across a very interesting person. Ms. Rosario Iglesias, one of the world's fastest women of 90 years and more, died in Mexico City. She was 98. She was a news vendor who took up sports at the age of 80, and went on to hold five world records for her age group. In 2004, she carried the Olympic torch before tens of thousands on the featured leg of its passage through Mexico en route to Athens.

She won races in Japan, South Africa, Barbados, Britain, Australia, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United States. According to World Masters Athletics, Ms. Iglesias held world records in five categories; both the 85- and 90-and-over class at 400 and 800 meters, and the 90-and-over record at 200 meters (82.29 seconds). What an awesome lady!!!

I love reading about the wonderful things that some of our eldest elders are accomplishing. It gives one inspiration to keep going even when things look a bit bleak. When I grow up, I want to have this kind of ambition.

Before I take my leave to go play with Tootsie for a bit, I will share my contribution to the February Calendar challenge at Magickal Scraps forum. It was made with a photo I had taken at a local park a couple of years ago. Enjoy, and have a great night

Hugs, Edna B.

Back Up, Back Up

February 4, 2009

Well, today I feel much better. My whole computer is backed up on the new EHD (external hard drive), and will pick up any new stuff every night. Pretty soon, I will have a second backup in place. Then, if I can stick with that schedule, I should be okay.

Today, I need to finish up with my taxes because tomorrow I work and Friday is D-Day. Should say T-Day, but I'll be glad when it's over. At least by Friday, I'll have a list of what I missed or forgot, and then I can hunker down and find it all pronto. Hopefully, I alredy got it all.

Then my next thing to do is make my travel arrangements. It looks like I will be going the first week of March. I think I've decided not to take Tootsie with me. I'm thinking that the plane ride alone would not be too much fun for her. Add that to her picky potty habits, and she would be in stress before we got to Florida. If I decide to drive down sometime, she can go with me then. But this is not written in stone yet.

Last night I told you the story about Casseopeia and her daughter Andromeda, and today I will share the layout that I made for the Book of Shadows challenge. It's a two-pager, hope you like it. Now I'm going to take a break, and try to finish up my tax stuff. Have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

An Exciting Bit of Mythology

February 3, 2009

Br-r-r-r. More snow all day today. Probably into tomorrow. Please, does anybody want it? We have no place to put it anymore. I hope Spring lasts as long as Winter. Ever notice how lopsided the seasons are? Winter starts around the end of November/beginning of December and doesn't leave until April or May. We get a little bit of Spring, a bunch of hot, sticky weather, and then a little bit of Autumn. Then it's back to Winter again. I dunno, can't win for losing.

Tonight I will get my PC Cillin program renewed so that our computers are protected, and then Wayne will set up my new external drive that I just purchased. It's 1 TB, so it should be able to handle anything I put on my computer. (TB is for terebyte)

My day started with some wonderful fun and comments from my friend Kyra. She is a very good designer, and very quick. I really have to work to keep up with her, which is very good for me. Usually, she posts her layouts for the challenges as soon as the challenges are posted. This month, I managed to get one kit contribution done and posted first. Woopee!! And not a minute too soon, because she posted right after I did. And of course, her kit is absolutely gorgeous.

Stop by the Magickal Scraps forum and check out the challenges and see for yourself. While you're at it, stop by her blog http://smielkeltje.blogspot.com/ and pick up her latest kit. It's beautiful, and it's free.

Today, I finished up my layout for the template challenge. Snow Raven supplied the template, and the rest is mine. I tried using shades of one color, and a light shade of sepia for the photo.

The background paper is from my color challenge kit "Renessaince Faire" which I will probably give to you in a couple of months. Next, I must finish up my layout for the Book of Shadows challenge. We have to research and scrap a layout of a god or goddess from a different culture. At least along that vein.
Many years ago, my Michael bought me a unique Christmas present, a star named for me. So now Cassiopeia is Edna Barron. A couple years ago my son and his wife bought a star for my daughter Kerri who had recently passed on, and gave that to me for Christmas. So now Andromeda is Kerri Anne Thibault. Want to know what I find so special and coincidental? Andromeda was Cassiopeia's daughter. So all is well in the heavens and I feel good about this.
I'm back......I just had to call my son and tell him this exciting news. For some reason, I never put it all together before.
All of this was to explain that my layout will be about Casseopeia, wife of King Cepheus, and mother of Andromeda. When I was in junior high school, this was one of my favorite classes, studying astrology and mythology.
Now I must go check on Moo. He has been out shoveling all afternoon. Tonight we will treat ourselves to chinese take out for supper. M-m-m-m. Have a great evening.
Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Ground Day

February 2, 2009

Happy Ground Hog Day everybody! Did you all watch the little guy look for his shadow this morning? I was going to, but by the time I remembered, he had gone back into his hole. Oh well, so much for that.

I did a bit of clean up today on my computer, then backed up my C drive. That took care of using the computer for the next few hours, so Tootsie and I took a nap instead. Tomorrow, I have to finish up my tax stuff because it is due this week at the accountant's office. Oh joy, oh joy!

Tonight I need to play some more catch up with the challenges, etc. for the Magickal Scraps forum. Aren't you lucky? It means I can't stay and chat very long. I would like to share the preview for the posting bonus for the Inspiration challenge. All you have to do is participate in the challenge, and post a layout. Voila! That simple. Here is the picture I posted to give you inspiration for your layout. It's a lovely old fashioned valentine that I got from Dover Publishing.

Time to say good night, have lots of work to do. Have a great night. The bonus preview is below.
Hugs, Edna B.

February & A Kit For You

February 1, 2009

Wow, it's already the first day of February. Can you believe this? Before you know it we'll be basking in beautiful, funtastic Spring. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!

I have spent a good part of the day trying to recover files and things that I lost. It's a very long and tedious job. Actually, the day was spent on just one large file. As I went through it, I found that most of the folders were empty. So I made a list, and went to find them again. I guess I will just have to pick a file a day.

In between, I kept taking little breaks to go play ball with Tootsie. She gets annoyed waiting for me and sometimes does things to annoy me. Like pee on the carpet because I took so long getting in there to play. This is what she did this afternoon, so that took care of playing ball until tomorrow. Will she ever learn?

I often wonder what happened to this little dog during the first 6 months of her life. She was so timid when I got her, and she had some of the weirdest habits. Like - she won't go potty outdoors. No No! Absolutely not! She has her own little potty area in the panty with little blue chux to go on. If you don't change the chux right away as soon as it is soiled, she will finish up the job somewhere else. That will teach me!!

When she does something bad, she comes to tell me about it. (This one I couldn't ever figure out!) Before you can scold her, she already has her head hanging down with a soulful look on it. Geesh! She makes it tough for me to punish her. I usually just scold her and say "Bad Girl," but she already knows this. And of course, I've already told you about her aromatic habits. Phew! But through all this, she mine and I love her.

I have lots to do before I can shut off this computer for the day, so let me post your final Anniversary freebie. It's a kit that I call "Floral Scent." There are three parts that I broke up to make the downloading easier. I hope you like it. Enjoy and have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.
