A Photo of Zachary Draygon

September 30, 2008

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? I'll givre you the bad news - there's no freebie for you tonight. I really truly was working on a couple of them, when my little e-mail dog popped up on my screen with a letter in his mouth.

Can you guess what was in the envelopes? Pictures of Zachary Draygon, my newest great grandson, and Audrey and Mac's first grandchild. Talk about a cutie. I know, I know, we all say that about our babies. But he really is a cutie.

I made a layout for him with Snow Raven's new kit "Dragon Lair." Kind of fits the name, yes? So without further ado, here's Zack, and I'll be back tomorrow with goodies for you. Till then,

Hugs, Edna B.

A New Forum Opening!!

September 29, 2008

Have you looked at your calendar lately? There's only ONE MORE DAY left in the month of September. I don't know about you, but I can't find where the last nine months has gone to. It seems like every time I stop to catch my breath, another week or two slips by without my noticing.

I have some good news to share. On October 1, we have a brand new forum opening for all you innovative scrappers. Come visit all of us at Mackical Scraps http://www.magickalscraps.com/

You will find all sorts of wonderful kits and other goodies in the Shop. There's something for everyone's taste and style, so come join in the fun.

Today I made a new QP to show off one of my photos of the "Julia Swain" Riverboat on the Mississippi River in La Crosse, Wisconsin. I took so many terrific photos, I'll be scrapping this trip for quite a while.

Tomorrow I hope to have another freebie for you. I know it's been a while, but I've had to re-group a lot of my time in order to be more creative. Till then,

Hugs, Edna B.

My Tootsie's A Very Smart Dog

September 27, 2008

Last night I just crashed early. It rained all day, and got dark early, so I guess my body figured that an early night was what it needed. Funny how your body knows these things. Just like my Tootsie. Everynight, she knows exactly when to wake me up to go to the bathroom. She's really quite smart, that dog.

That, and hiding her chewie bones are probably her two best tricks. Sometimes she hides them so well, that she goes crazy trying to find them when Uncle Moo comes in. It's a game they play. Moo reaches for the chewie, and Tootsie snarls and growls trying to protect her goodie. It's quite comical to watch. As soon as Moo leaves, she abondons the chewie till next time. If Moo shows no interest in the chewie, Tootsie places it at his feet, and dares him to touch it. You gotta love her.

Today, I'll share a picture I took at the top of Grandad Bluff in Wisconsin. It's like looking out into the clouds with a tinker toy town way below. Awesome.

For your freebie today, I'm going to give you a QP that I made with Snow Raven's "Back To School" kit. Enjoy,
Hugs, Edna B.

Another New Great Grandbaby!

September 24, 2008

Today, I just did not want to get out of bed. I'm a real sissy when I have a cold. Snuggled under those warm covers felt like the right place to be. But Alas, Tootsie's medicine was running out today, and we had to go pick up some more.

Next came the phone call about the newest Great Grandbaby. This time the proud grandparents are Audrey and Mac. Zachary Draygon came into the world at 7 lbs, 13 oz. I will have to wait patiently for pictures to scrap and share.

Today I'll share another new layout I made with Snow Raven's kit "Totally Nature." This one features a two year old double breasted Cormorant. (I hope I got that right. We had to look this one up in the bird book.)

Then Tootsie and I are going to get ready to watch Project Runway. Meanwhile, Uncle Moo is sneaking out the door to get himself a Dairy Queen ice cream. NOT!!!!! Tootsie and I love Dairy Queen, so we had to sweet talk him into bringing one home for us. You know he grumbled all the way out the door. Just gotta love that guy!

Another Challenge Layout

September 23, 2008

I saw my doctor today, and I guess I'm gonna make it. He put me on some medicines which, hopefully, will do the trick.

Once I'm running on all my gears again, I have a lot of work to do. First there's my living room carpet that needs desperately to be replaced, then my new kits need to be finished. By then, it should be Christmas. Only joking, I hope.

Today I'll share another layout I made for the GDS technical challenge. "Selective Color." The kit I used is their March Collab kit, "Ready For Spring." Then Tootsie and I are off to get comfy in front of the TV. Till tomorrow,

Hugs, Edna B.

That's Me, Ms. Wuss!

September 22, 2008

I won't be long, I'm such a wuss when I have a bad cold. It makes the asthma more difficult to deal with. Tomorrow morning I have an appointment with my doctor, and hopefully, he'll give me some medicine to speed up the recovery time.

There is a new design team at Scraphead. Snow Raven and Morgana (Morrighans Designs). They have put some wonderful new kits in the Scraphead store, one of which is "The Wizard of Oz." Tonight, I'll share a new layout I just finished using the "Wizard of Oz" kit. Please visit Morgana's blog. http://morrighanwynter.blogspot.com/

"We're Off To See The Wizard"

I don't like to whine, but this cold is really doing me in. So I'll take my cheese, and Tootsie, and curl up in my nice warm bed and watch some TV.

A Favorite Challenge Of Mine

September 21, 2008

I'm back again, this time with a particularly nasty cold, thanks to the nasty germs on the plane. When I am sick with a cold, I am not a pretty sight. But then again, who is? This time around, I will have to put in a call to my doctor. Last time I caught one of these colds, it hung around for 5 or 6 weeks.
I have a new layout to share today that I made for the technique challenge at GDS. (see link at right) The kit used is "Mother's Love," which was the GDS May collab kit. Of course, I use one of my favorite photos.
The challenge was to do selective coloring, which just happens to be one of my favorite techniques. Later this week, I'll have to do another.
Tonight is another working night, so this post will have to be short. I have a lot to do before I get ready to leave, including spending some quality playtime with Tootsie.
Hugs, Edna B.

The Great Butterfly Photographer

September 20, 2008

I have so many wonderful stories to tell from my vacation, but I think the best is the butterfly story. While walking through a wildlife sanctuary, Mary Ann and I spotted this gorgeous Monarch butterfly sitting on the ground. We were very quiet while taking photos of it, all the time gradually getting closer and closer to it. We were able to get close enough to get some really nice shots. Duh!!!!!!!!! You guessed it !!!!!!!!! It was dead. Oh well, at least we had fun and got in some practice on how to sneak up on a butterfly.

Today, Snow Raven gave away Part Two of her "Dandelion Dreams" kit on her blog. If you'd like to get this kit, visit her blog: http://silversnowyraven.blogspot.com/ Here is a new layout I made with this kit, featuring a photo I took of a passing dandelion.

Your freebie today will be the matching QP. Enjoy,

The Wizard Was Great!!

September 19, 2008

Hi everyone, I'm back. First let me tell you about my homecoming. As soon as Tootsie saw me, her eyes lit up, and she licked my face from here to kingdom come. God, I love that little dog.

As for the weather during my vacation in Wisconsin, it was absolutely perfect. We were able to go out walking everyday, and take lots of photos. Honestly, I had such a wonderful time.

Mary Ann's friend, Judi, came over to teach us how to use our Wacom tablets. What a treat this was. Now I'll be able to practice using it in Photoshop.

Tonight I have Lady Shannon's permission to post a QP for you that I made with her "Southern" kit. You really should visit her blog and see all of her wonderful freebies. While you're there, leave her a thank you for this QP. http://ladyshannonmemoriesmadeeasy.blogspot.com/

Tootsie and I are turning in early tonight. It's been a busy day, trying catch up with everything. We did make a pretty big dent. Tomorrow's another day. Till then,

Hugs, Edna B.

I'm Off To See The Wizard (that means "vacation")

September 13, 2008

This will be a short post. I still have so many things to do and/or finish up before I go to bed. Tomorrow morning comes early. Have to be at the airport at 7:30 am. Bright eyed and bushy tailed. Don't know about that part, but I'll be there.

Of course, Hurricane Ike might something to say about that. A lot of flights in and out of Chicago have been cancelled or delayed, according to the news. that's where I change planes. Who'd a thunk it!!

I'll try to post if I can while I'm away, but can't promise. Tonight I have a QP for you that I made with Snow Raven's kit "Totally Nature." Hope you like it.

Another Hurricane - Ike

September 11, 2008

Wow, another great breathing day for us asmatics. Also a good day for working around the house and yard.

We've all been following hurricane "Ike" on the TV. Hopefully it will weaken a bit before landfall, and no one will get hurt. I'll say an extra prayer for all you folks. Be safe, be well.

I still have a bunch of things to do before I leave on Sunday morning. That's me, though, last minute Sally. Try as I might, I just don't change.

Today I finished up another layout using one of Snow Raven's new kits, "Totally Nature." I used another of my "bee" photos. This one was quite by accident. I was actually trying for a close up of the flower, and the bee just flew in.

Tomorrow's a work day, so Tootsie and I are calling it a day now. Have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Teeny Weeny Kit

September 10, 2008

Do you folks realize that in less than two weeks, it will be Autumn? I heard someone on the radio talking about the Fall and how it's their favorite season, and I thought "My goodness, why are they wishing away the summer so soon?" Little did I realize before I actually looked at the calendar.

Thanks Davonna, for the kind inspirational words. I think I need a shot of that funny lemonade my sister in law drinks. That might do the trick, seeing as how I already polished off my bottle of Samuel Adams beer. (I saved it from May to September, and let me tell you -- when I finally did drink it, it was deLICious!!)

I have been back designing a little bit lately. My problem, I think, was making the kits too big. It's hard to make a really big kit every week in between all my other projects. So I've started making my kits much smaller. This will help keep my creative juices flowing. (I hope)

Tonight, I have a teeny weeny "Polka" kit for you. I made it a few months back for a challenge, and never posted it. My favorite program "Project Runway" is coming on shortly, so Tootsie and I are off to get cozy with a snack and watch TV. Enjoy the teeny weeny kit.
Hugs, Edna B.

Missing - My Creative Mind

September 9, 2008

Tonight's the night we find out who made it to round two at GDS. Cross my fingers, but not expecting too much.

If you've noticed there haven't been any new kits lately, it's because my brain has gone on vacation and didn't invite me along. I've started a few, but the inspiration to finish any of them hasn't caught up with me yet. Be patient, it will.

One good thing today, I have a nice new kitchen floor. My son did a great job, and it's looking really good. When I get back from my vacation, I'll have to attack the living room with a vengeance. The carpeting needs to be replaced.

Today, I did finish at least one challenge. The "What will you do with this?" challenge at Scraphead. A strand of braided beads was supplies by Cassell (Scraphead), and we were to make a layout using the beads. Here are the beads supplied, and my layout.

That's it for today. Tootsie and I are going to get comfy, curl up in bed with a snack, and watch some "Law & Order" re-runs.
Hugs, Edna B.

My Lovely New Garden

September 8, 2008

Hope you're all enjoying the gorgeous "end of summer" weather we've been having lately. You know, I discovered just the other day, that I have a brand new garden growing right where there used to be a bird feeder. There's a beautiful sunflower about three feet tall, and all sorts of weeds? that sort of look like a corn garden. Lord knows what else is growing in there. Obviously, I can thank the bird seed for this lovely new garden.

Today my son, bless his heart, tackled my kitchen floor. He tore up the carpeting, threw it out, and then went with me to buy new tiles for the floor. Before he crashed, he laid more than half of the new floor. Meanwhile my sad little messy abode has gotten quite a bit more messy. Thank goodness, most of it will disappear when the new floor is finished.

It's been quite a busy day, and we're all pooped out. Tootsie and I are going to call it a day, and hop into bed to watch some TV. Before I leave, I'll share another nature photo with you. This one features one of our woodpeckers. Till tomorrow,

Hugs, Edna B.

This Is A Two-Cup Morning

September 7, 2008

Before I went to work last night, I typed up this morning's post and scheduled it to be posted at

8:50 am this morning. Obviously, Blogger can't read English too well, because at 9:25 am, I finally had to delete it because it was never posted, and there was no way for me to post it myself. Blogger should come with a visual manual for nitwits like me who cannot figure out how to use this place easily.

So now I'm retyping and grumbling because I thought I had found a good thing to use - "future posting" and "scheduling." No so!!! Enough grumbling. It's gorgeous outside at the moment. It rained all night, and the wind howled and blew tree branches and debris all over the roads.

Today I have to finish up my baby shopping, and then Grandpa and I are going to see Niko again. After that, I have to finish up whatever shopping, etc. that needs to be done before I go on vacation next weekend.

Have you visited "The Chronicles of Nani"? She has lovely freebie kit posted called "Daddy's Little Girl." I've made a QP with it, and if you want it and the kit, you can get them at: http://chroniclesofnani.blogspot.com/.

We're off now, to get the day rolling. Something tells me it's going to be a long one, and that this is going to be a Dunkin Donuts two-cup morning. Till tomorrow,
Hugs, Edna B.

New Photo & A Freebie QP

September 6, 2008

I have another great photo to share with you today. When your first grandchild is born, it is a very special and happy moment. I remember way back when -- Bob O Link was born and this made a profound effect on our lives. (Bob O Link, Papa's nickname for our first grand child, Bobby.) So naturally, today's photo is the proud Grandpa. I used the frame from Delicious Scraps, the ribbon from Scrap Doctor, and the flower from Josy Carson.

If this isn't placed very well, blame it on blogspot. they just don't want to put things where I put them. I may look around for another place to blog from if it keeps getting difficult here.

There's another blog I want to tell you about if you are into photography and Photoshop. Check out "Creative Photography by Mary Ann." It's brand new, and very informative. This lady does professional work and is willing to share her knowledge with the rest of us. http://creativephotographybymaryann.blogspot.com/

Next, Wowee!! I've been given the "I Love Your Blog" Award again. This time by Cindy from "My Little Corner Of The World." Thanks, Cindy, so much. These awards really do mean so much to me.
Check out her blog at: http://cindy-weeks.blogspot.com/

According to the rules, I must list the name and blog address of the person who give this to me, and pass it on to seven others, listing their blogs. I've already awarded this in the past to Noreen at Cajun Designz, Deb at The Maltese Scrapper, and Kyra at With a Russian-Dutch Heart. Today I would like to add five new names.

And now for today's freebie. It's a QP that I've made using Snow Raven's new kit "Passionata Red. This kit is also available i blue. Check out the store at Scrap Head to see Snow Raven's other great new kits.

Changes Coming

September 5, 2008

It's a new day (a beautiful one, I might add) and things are settling down. Today the proud Daddy and I will get to hold Nikolas - we hope. I need another four generation photo for my collection.

Yesterday in all the excitement, I forgot to post my Round One entry layout. I used Helen Ehrenhofer's kit "Mom's Garden."

Today, I think I will post all of the element packs. My kits are getting too big. I think I will have to re-think the new kits I'm working on. If I make them smaller, they will be easier to make and package up.

So without further ado, let the fun begin. I need to do some housework today. It's getting hard to find my way around the clutter. Yuck! Yuck!! Not my funnest stuff to do!! See you tomorrow,

Hugs, Edna B.

New Great Grand Baby

September 4, 2008

Wow, what a day!! First let me thank you for your kind words and prayers for my little Tootsie. She is just so precious to me. Today she did a few little things that she hasn't done since before she got so sick. Talk about warm fuzzies!!!

Okay, now for the big excitement of the day. My son is now a very proud grandpa for the first time. Oh my, and what a gorgeous baby indeed we have. Have a lookee here. He arrived around 5 pm this afternoon. I took this picture a few minutes after his arrival.

This makes FOUR Great grandbabies, and there's another due soon. Talk about being blessed. I want to be here posting on my blog when they all grow up. My daughter, Audrey is supposed to be giving me a big party for my 125th birthday. Lord, I just hope she's up to it then. She'll be 104 years old herself!! Maybe one of these great grandbabies can push our chairs for us.

Enough of the sillies. Tonight you get the last of the background papers for "Cactus Sunset."
Bet you never thought we'd get to the end, huh! Till tomorrow, enjoy.

Yeah Tootsie!!

September 3, 2008

Yeah-h-h-h!!! Today Tootsie finished up her "every four weeks" chemo regime. Now we start every FIVE weeks. I am so happy for my little dog, I can't really put it into words. We have to more goals -- every six weeks, and NO MORE. If she can stay in remission and make to the light at the end of the tunnel, we'll have to figure out a way to celebrate. Maybe a party, and invite a couple of friends. This is something worth getting excited about.

I did sign up for the Supreme Team Contest at GDS, and today started Round One. Last time I entered, I only made it to round two. Whether I make it or not is not the reason I enter, although it's always nice to win, but I just love the "trying" part. That's how we learn. And the more I learn, the better I can get.

Tomorrow night, I'll post my entry for round one. Next week, I'll let you know if I go on to round two or not. The kit we were given to use for the layout is gorgeous. It's called "Mom's Garden" by Helen Ehrenhofer at GDS.

Before I post tonight's freebie, I want to mention that you should visit Bonnie at The Maltese Scrapper http://bonniecarter.blogspot.com/. She has some beautiful QP's that would match "Cactus Sunset" beautifully. And they're free!!

My favorite program on TV is coming on now, (Project Runway) so Tootsie and I are going to snuggle up in bed and watch it.

Short & Sweet - Right To The Freebie

September 2, 2008

Tonight will be short. I overslept this morning and Tootsie and I almost didn't make it to her AM chemo appointment. But we rushed, and made it. Did a bit of emptying out the shed, and played a bit on my PC. Back for PM chemo, home to make dinner, and now I'm exhausted.

I'll bet I wore you out just by reading that paragraph, huh? Tonight I'm just going to post your freebie, and then go curl up in bed with Tootsie and watch some TV (if I don't fall asleep first!).

I'm Honored With A New Award

September 1, 2008

Happy Labor Day everybody. I worked, did you? Now I'm off for a few days, so maybe I can caught up on some of my scrapping.

When I got home today, I got another lovely surprise. Kyra at http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/ has given me a really lovely award. Thank you so much Kyra, this means a lot to me. I have made so many wonderful friends in the scrapping community, but some, like you, are extra special.

The rules are very simple. You post your award on your blog, and list the person who awarded it to you, and nominate four other blogs. That's it.

The first name on my list would have been Kyra, but she already has it. She is a terrific lady, and you really ought to visit her blog for some really awesome freebie kits. She is also a manificent storyteller.

My nominees:

I'm praying that all of my scrap friends are safe from the wrath of the storms that are brewing. Be safe, and be well.

Tootsie has been sitting here, just staring at me because she is wanting some overdue attention. So it's time for me to shut down the computer for the night. I'll post you another set of background papers for "Cactus Sunset."
