Happy Anniversary Deanne And Eddie

May 8, 2020

Good morning.  Well, today is our last nice day till the middle of next week.  Later today and tonight we have rain and snow coming, along with colder temps.  My lilacs looked pretty good yesterday, so I hope this doesn't hurt them.

This has been "Be kind to animals" week.  I would hope that folks would be kind to animals every week, and teach your children to treat animals kindly.

Yesterday was Deanne and Eddie's anniversary.  Wow, has it really been forty years?  I love you both and I wish you many more wonderful years together.  Happy Anniversary!

Deanne made this collage of her and Eddie throughout the years.  Here's a photo taken on St. Patrick's Day.  (last year)

Today I need to work on putting my next blog book together.  I have a 35% off coupon, but it expires Sunday.  I try not to waste these great coupons.  First, I have to take my new hanging plant outside and hang it up on the porch.  The nights are really quite cool so I bring it indoors.

It was so nice out yesterday that I took my camera and walked around the yard, taking photos of my plants.  Later today, I'll crop a few of them to share here on Sunday.  And because Sunday is Mothers' Day, I'm posting another "Mom's" coloring page from Dover.

It's time now to get started on this new day. So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Is It Spring Yet?

May 7. 2020

Good morning.  The sun is shining and temps are in the fifties today.  Starting Friday night, temps will drop, and we're expecting snow and night time temps in the thirties.  I hope this doesn't hurt my Lilacs.  I'll have to go outside today and take a photo of them.

Yesterday, I did do a couple of things around here, but you'd never know it today.  My housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired.  Here's something that I borrowed from the web that says it all.

Last evening, I finished the green neck warmer.  I forgot to mention that these are for next Winter, not now.  I did not make it outside to take photographs yesterday.  I got busy doing something, and
things went from there.  Basically, that's how most of my days go.  Schedules don't usually work out very well here.

Today I'll be going through a huge bag of junk mail.  Some days I just don't feel like disposing of it so I toss it into this bag.  However, I can't stand looking at it anymore so that will have to be my project for today.

Yesterday's mail brought me a package containing a new flower bulb.  Hopefully, this can be planted next week.  I'll see if my grandson can come over and plant it for me.  I'd like to be able to purchase some flowering shrubs by then too.  Hmmm, I wonder if the garden centers have sidewalk pick ups.

Today, I'd like to share something that I borrowed from the web.  We all have so much to be thankful for.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Don't Forget To Stay Safe

May 6, 2020

Good morning.  It's sunny today, but cooler.  This morning I watched a woodcraft show on TV. It showed how to make a table game that the whole family could play.  I don't do woodcraft, but I do enjoy knowing how things are made.

Last night, I tried to take photos of the crochet projects that I've been making, but the colors just don't come out the same with lamp lighting.  Later today, I'll take the projects out on the  porch and take photos in the daylight.

Meanwhile, I do have this photo of SIL Eddie trying on one of the projects to see if it fits.  It's a man's neck warmer that folds down.  However, it can also be pulled up to cover the mouth and nose if the temperatures drop to really mean cold.  I'm also making a matching hat for each neck warmer.

Today, after I get a few things done around the house, I'll work on the newest warmer set.  This one is a  pretty "Sprout" green.  After that, I'll maybe work on an pretty medium purple poncho.  Or maybe I'll  just pick another color for a neck warmer.  It depends on my mood at the time.

I thought I'd share something that Deanne had posted online.  There are a lot of things that are beginning to open up again and people need to remember to stay safe.

Thank goodness I'm typing first on notepad, then pasting to Blogger.  My page already disappeared once.  Now, for those who are here in Massachusetts, or planning to come here, REMEMBER -- Starting today, everyone over the age of two must wear a face covering when social distancing is not possible.

Now I'm off to gert started on this new day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Weeds Are Beautiful Too

May 5, 2020

Good morning.  Tis sunny today with temps in the fifties.  By the weekend, temps will be back in the  forties.  (thirties at night)  Brrr!

Yesterday was a quiet day.  I picked up the crochet project that I was working on and ripped out several rows.  Then I put them all back on, this time without the mistake.  Later, I finished the project, folded it and put it in a zippered plastic bag.  Now on to the next project.

After reading a friend's blog about the pesky Dock (weed) in his yard, I got out my I got out "The Lost Book Of Herbal Remedies" to do some research.  Dock (Curly/Yellow), Rumex crispus.  Curly Dock has a lemony flavor and its leaves can be cooked and eaten.

All parts of the plant can be used for medicinal purposes, but the roots have the strongest healing properties.  It is used to treat constipation and diarrhea, liver, gall bladder, detox and skin problems.  The broad-leaved dock, Rumex obstusifolius, is used in a similar manner.

I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as just a weed.  All weeds seem to have a special use.  Some are for healing, some for eating and some are just beautiful to look at.

I borrowed something from the web that could be helpful for folks who wear glasses and have to wear a mask.  I'm going to try this because my glasses tend to fog up when I wear a mask.

Now before I head off to find some fun mischief to get into, let me share something fun that I also borrowed from the web.  This is all about that wonderful doggy art that we find  around the house and on our windows, both in the house and in the car.  (or truck)

I'm off now.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

New May Blossoms

May 4, 2020

Good morning.  While yesterday was an awesome day, today will be nice but cooler.  All week the temps will stay cool with really chilly nights.  Hopefully after that, things will warm up again.

Starting Wednesday May 6, Massachusetts residents are required to wear face coverings when social distancing isn't possible.  A lot of folks are going to be complaining about their rights, but this is a small price to pay to save lives while opening the state up again.

One of my Christmas Cactus plants is starting to blossom.  This one is a light orchid color, and ever
so pretty.

It's really quiet around here with not much happening.  Today I have a sink full of dishes to wash.  I got lazy and just rinsed the dishes off and set them in the sink.  Today though, I really need to wash them.

Mother's Day is fast approaching so I thought I'd post a coloring page to honor Mom's everywhere. This one is from Dover Publications.

Last night I was working on a new project and had to stop because I found a mistake a few rows back.    So, today I'll rip out those rows and do them over.  This is the "not so fun" part of crocheting.
This is going to be a gift so it can't have mistakes on it.

I also placed a new yarn order for two other projects.  Time needs to slow down just a tad bit now so that I can get all these projects finished.

Now I'm going to get a fresh cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Trying A New Way To Post

May 3, 2020

Tis sunny and rather nice outside today.  Do you suppose Spring is really trying to bring us some warmer temps.  I surely hope so.

Yesterday afternoon, I woke up to a lovely surprise.   Deanne and Eddie came  by and hung a beautiful Begonia plant on my porch.  The colors are gorgeous.

Later, Deanne sent me a photo that she had just taken with her phone.  Wowsie!   What a beautiful photo!  When you zoom in on it, you can even see some details on the moon.

Today, I'm typing on notepad, and cutting and pasting the words over to this page.   I hope this works.  It does  take a bit longer to do, but if it works, then so be it.  Thank you Steve for the suggestion.

I wish I could figure out why my page keeps erasing, it's really driving me crazy.  Maybe when the computer repair shop re-opens, I can ask them to find out why this happens.

Remember the beautiful little rose plant that Deanne gave me for Valentine's Day?   Well, all the blossoms finally fell off, but now it is blossoming again.  What a beautiful rose!

Today I've been watching the oil painting classes, and the sewing classes on TV.  Sunday morning is for crafters.  They do quilting, sewing, knitting and crocheting.  It's really quite interesing.  I'll most
likely spend quite a bit of time today working on my crochet projects.  It will be December before we know it.

Yesterday, I never turned on my laptop, so now I have some blog reading to catch up on.  On that note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Happy May Day

May 1, 2020

Good morning.  So sorry not to post yesterday, but it turned out to be a not so good typing day.  I did type my post, six times.  Each time I would get so much done, and it would just disappear.  Poof!  I stayed calm and just re-typed.  Until the last time, then I just shut down the laptop and found something else to do.

Later, I tried to see what key it was that I was probably hitting that was erasing everything.  No luck.  I tried almost every key on the keyboard and nothing happened.  This morning I had an idea to check the settings.  Sometimes when the laptop updates itself, some things may change.  And yup, the update turned the touchpad back on.  So I shut it off again.

Today will be gray and wet with temps getting up into the low sixties later this afternoon.  Lots of states are beginning to open slowly starting today through Monday.  It was sad to see so many folks on the news protesting "stay at home, stay safe."  Some told reporters "My rights are being taken away from me."

What is wrong with these people?  Is a day at the beach with friends more important than keeping people alive?  Is a couple more dollars in their pocket more important than being alive tomorrow or next week?  I know we're all wanting things to get back to normal, but let's at least be reasonable about it.

Today I'm boxing up the red and black afghan to send off to Florida to my grandson, Trio.  Because his name has III after it, he was nicknamed Trio when he was born, and it stuck.  He is my son Gary's first born.
                                                                             Trio

He had asked for a red and black afghan .  (shown inside a plastic zippered bag)

I've been working on a men's neck warmer/cowl.  So far, I've finished two of them and I'm halfway through a matching hat for one of them.  These are looking really nice.  One is done with a green variegated called Hunter (sort of a green camo) and the other is done with a Light Periwinkle blue.

Now I think I'll do a bit of catching up with my blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
