Good morning. It's looking really beautiful outside my door this morning. The sun is shining and there's a lovely breeze which my flags are enjoying. I don't think I ever mentioned, but we have a flag hanging by each front door. Mine and the main house. It's a wonderful feeling to watch them sway and dance in the breeze. It's 73F degrees right now, and later temps will get up to the low 82's. Like I said, it's a really beautiful morning.
It's been a busy weekend so far. Yesterday, great granddaughter Alena celebrated her fourth birthday. Oh my, such a happy little girl!! She was on her best behavior all day, keeping a watchful eye on the stack of presents that she would get to open.
Folks, Alena is a truck and tractor sort of girl. And yup, she got lots and lots of trucks, and even a racing track with cars. She also got her own tool box (to help Grampy fix things around the house), some crafts and even a Barbie doll. Sad to say, Barbie will probably spend most of her time on a shelf or in the toy box.
Happy Birthday Alena. May all your dreams and wishes come true. Great Meema loves you. Here's a picture of Alena's beautiful birthday cake, a photo of her digging into a delicious chunk of the cake, and a photo of Alena opening her race track. (Audrey is Alena's Meema, so that makes me the "Great" one.)
On the home front here, we had a bit of excitement too. A little after ten o'clock yesterday morning, I received a phone call from the Police Department. My license to carry was there, and I could come in and pick it up. Wowzee!
It only took me fifteen minutes to get dressed, grab Pogo and drive to the Police Station. I even took a few of my target sheets with me to show to the Lieutenant. I'm quite proud of myself right about now. I'm not planning on running right out to buy a gun. Deanne and I want a lot more practice time at the shooting range first.
Speaking of the shooting range, we went there Friday afternoon, and my daughter Deanne was awesome! She got several bulls eyes!! I only got one, and one almost (on the line). We can't go to the range next Friday because Jazzy will be performing in a play, but we have an appointment for the following week.
Friday, I did not get to spend time with Aunt Lucy because she was going out to her club to play Bingo. She says she doesn't like Bingo, so she calls the numbers. I told her that I would try to come by for a visit early in the week.
A couple new charms that I had ordered came in the mail, so today I'm going to work on my bracelets for a while. After that, I think I'll spend some time on my laptop. I bought a few new scrap kits that I want to play around with.
Well, that's my news for this morning. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Birthday Alena!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Edna,
What a beautiful little girl and such a cute cake and presents! How delightful!!!!
And Edna, what wonderful news to have your licensee! Way To Go! It is so wonderful that your licensed to carry. So much scary stuff in the world happens and you never know when you need to defend yourself.
Last week my cousin Connie had a scary incident that was life threatening. She and her 2 sons bought a house and have done wonders in fixing it up. Her sons live with her in this house. Carlos is the oldest and he and his wife divorced when their daughter was a couple of years old. The house is just down the street from where her granddaughter Kennedy and her mom lives.
On Sunday Carlos walked his little girl home to make sure that she got there ok. Even tho she is 12 they don't want her walking by herself. He walked her home and was halfway back to his house when 3 or 4 men jumped him. They robbed him and stabbed him. We found out last night that he is out of danger now. I don't know if a weapon would have helped or not but perhaps it would have.
Oh Edna what a blessing to be able to display our flag at your doors. It is wonderful that they dance in the breeze and amazing that you can watch them.
I had some other things to tell you but Karyn is here. We are going to start packing. Much love...... tell Pogo his "Auntie Beth" is drinking some of the coffee he sent.. Yummy Pogo...... Love Beth and Cisco.
Happy (belated)nbirthday to your great granddaughter. Such a sweetie. and I love that she is a bit out of the ordinary girl, liking trucks and tractors and having a toolkit LOL. It never can hurt, when a girl learns a bit of DIY.
Pitty you couldn;t go to Aunt Lucy, but good idea to go early in the week.
Congratulations on the license! Porbably good idea to first practise a lot more(although it seems you are doing pretty good already) and then later think it over if you want to have a gun in the house.
Today it is a bit more loudy, perhaps later the sun will peep out a bit, but the temperatures are still not bad and will stay around 20C all week. (daytime)
May be I'll find the enerdy to work a bit in the garden, some pruning needs to be done and slowly we will have to prepare the garden for winter(cleaning out pots and such).
You have a wonderful day,
Hug
Kyra
