It's October Already!!

October 1, 2015

Good morning.  At the moment, it is not raining, and most of our large puddles have dried up.  It's 56F degrees with a little breeze.  The temperature is supposed to climb to 59F degrees today.  The Weather Channel forecasts temps in the 50's for the next few days, climbing to the low 60's by Monday.  Plus, they are forecasting rain through next Tuesday.

The new Charlie Brown Christmas stamps are out today at the Post Office.  Joe and I are supposed to be going food shopping when he gets home from work, so I'm going to be stopping by our Post Office to pick up some of these stamps before they are all gone.

I've been following Hurricane Joaquin, and it's not pretty.  It's already raining huge amounts of precipitation over the South Eastern states, and Joaquin is bringing even more heavy rain to this area along with heavy winds.  We're talking about a foot or more of rain in some parts of these states.  Not nice!!

Has everyone noticed how quickly the months are passing by?  Today is already the first of October.  It's time to make an appointment to have the furnace cleaned and to get the oil tank filled.  Do you suppose that Spring will get here as quickly too?  Here is the October page from my calendar.

Yesterday morning, the rain started coming down rather heavy and the wind picked up, so I called the doctor's office to see if they could reschedule my appointment to next week, and they did.  Thank you, thank you.  I really was not looking forward to going out in this weather.

Because I now had more time, I made the beef stew.  I put all the ingredients into my crock pot, and let it cook all day.  Oh my, I have to say that it was delicious!!  DIL Janet and I each had two bowls of it.  Yum Yum!

In the afternoon, I called my Aunt Lucy.  I haven't seen her in a long while, and it was nice chatting with her.  She is 88 years old, drives her own car, and still knits and crochets afghans every day and donates them to hospitals, nursing homes and veterans.  She's quite the lady, and a real inspiration for all of us.

While chatting with Aunt Lucy, she gave me instructions for a new crochet pattern, one that she likes best.  Last night, I tried it out, and it is rather pretty.  So there's one more project for me to work on.  When it is finished, I'll post a photo of it.

Today's freebie QP is bright and cheery.  I hope it brings a bit of sunshine your way.

And here is your download link:

Today, I'm going to tackle another pesky pile of "stuff" that needs to dwindled down to size.  I am super at building these "piles of stuff."  However, getting rid of them is something else.  It never ceases  to amaze me at how quickly these piles can grow, and how long it takes to go through them and get rid of stuff.

I think the hardest part is finding a new place to put each piece of the stuff so that I don't have to toss it out.  Now, my kids don't seem to share this problem with me.  If they were here, they would have no problem at all knocking the pile down to just one or two pieces of paper.

Two days ago, I sent out my "must return by---" entry to Publishers Clearing House.  Yesterday, I received my "final countdown to winner selection" envelope.  This one must be returned right away too.  I guess I'm a dreamer.  I keep hoping that one day they will show up at my door and surprise me with the million dollars or the $7000 a week prize.  Let's be honest, I know they aren't going to show up here, but it is nice to dream, isn't it?

Well, on that note, it's time for me to get started on that "stuff" pile.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

It's been rainy here as well and turning colder. We head into Asheville NC on Saturday and am in no hurry to go further east until this storm passes by.
The beef stew sounds great. I love food cooked slowly in a crock pot, it's probably my favorite way to cook....all the flavors blend together and things just fall apart. Oh my, now I'm hungry!

Yummy your stew sounds delicious. I made a pot of stew yesterday as well. It was time to clean out the fridge so when I grocery shop I will have a place to put it all. This stew was different than what I normally make. I usually use the usual ingredients but yesterday I added some zucchini squash, cabbage, pinto and black beans rinsed and a sweet potato an hour or so before it was done. The good news is that it was so good that the boys complained that there were no left overs, the bad news is that there were no left overs lol....

Another lovely quick page. I haven't been inspired today to do a page. I started a couple but scrapped them into the trash bin. Just wasn't turning out to be what I wanted. I will email you a page that I did of my son and little granddaughter.

I am heading off to bed since I cannot seem to keep my eyes open. It is fairly early here for me, but I have been fighting sleeping all day. Hugs to you and Pogo. Cisco is sleeping with Nathan tonight. He deserted me.... ahhh well I guess he needs a guys night out... Hugs, Beth and Cisco.

So you could make the beef stes. Lovely and ever tasted that good! I made a kind of stew too yesterday from dices of pork meat, and paprika's and mushrooms in it and onions. And it turned out well too. And better news even is that there is enough for us for today's dinner, yeah!
ou auntie sounds to be quite a character at 88! Gosh, still driving the car and crocheting and such. I hope I will be doing that when I am 88 (if I ever make it LOL). Well, I will not drive a car, cause i never did, but hope to be able to walk to a shop, and do some knitting or crocheting and have my wits together!
Would be nice.

Yes, piles of stuff, I know about it and yeah, sometimes difficult to get rid of, hahaha. But we need to be brave and throw some things away if we don;t really need that anymore!

Have a fun day and good shopping with Joe.
