I'm Retired!!

August 1, 2014

Good morning.  Well, I did it!  I'm retired.  I have mixed feelings about it, but I know it's time.  Only a couple of my friends at work know about it.  I've been phasing out my hours, and just giving some shifts to whichever person would take them.  One day this upcoming week, I will go in and tell the family that I'm done.  Although, by now they've probably figured it out for themselves.

Today is the beginning of a new month, so here is my calendar page for August.

Have you noticed that August has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays?   Supposedly, this only happens once every 823 years.  So, enjoy it, because according to the internet, we'll never see it again in our lifetime.

Today is also Photoshop Friday, and the Queen Jester has given us this image of an adorable little girl to play with.

So after much thought, I decided to go with my first impression of how this photo could be manipulated.  It would make a lovely flower garden.  Here's my finished image.  (Background is from Google.)

Yesterday afternoon I took Joe food shopping at Walmart.  I'm really glad that we have this Walmart, but oh do I miss shopping at Market Basket.  Their prices were better and they had a much better selection of groceries.

However, I do understand why the workers are protesting, and I agree with them.  It's sad to say, bit I think Market Basket is going to do themselves right out of business like some other markets have done.

Last night I put a few more rows on the navy blue afghan, and now there are only seventeen more rows to go.  I must admit that in between working on the afghan, I started and completed another crochet project.  One more giftee all finished.  I'm hoping to finish up the navy blue afghan by tomorrow night.  I can't wait to start something with my new yarns, but first I need to finish most of what is already started.  Ah, well.

Now it's time to mosey on out to the kitchen and rustle up some breakfast.  Pogo has been waiting patiently for that dish of doggie food that we both know he isn't going to eat.  I've tried everything I can think of to get this little guy to eat, and I'm running out of ideas.  So if anyone has any ideas  that might work, let me know and I'll give them a try.

On that note, I'll take my leave till Sunday.  Y'all have a fabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Good morning Miss Edna! Hooray for you to finally be able to retire and reduce your stress level (& Pogo's)and relax and enjoy yourself a little more. I hope you really enjoy it....I know I do, can't tell you where all the time goes, but I do so enjoy being at home and not HAVING to do anything if I don't want to....LOL! I love just being home with my "gang" and being totally lazy if I feel like it. ENJOY!
What a handsome young man your grandson is and the family photo is simply gorgeous. All your photos intrigue me. I took a few minutes and read all the posts I had missed, I've just not been on the computer much lately. BTW, thanks for stopping by and leaving such nice words for me.
About 3 weeks ago, we had some major drama going on in our courtyard and when it was all over, I heard baby kittens crying, yep, you guessed it, I have taken in those 2 babies (still haven't seen the mama in 3 weeks) and bottle fed them for a couple of days. A little gorgeous black (with a couple of white patches on the tummy) male I have named Sideways. He has a weakness in his backside that causes him to run sideways, but with the massaging I have been doing he is gaining strength. The other is a solid gray girl I have named Misty as she reminds me of a foggy, misty morning! She is so smart and is teaching her brother. My "girls" are tolerating them, but Oreo is trying to mother them now. I am searching for a home to place them in together and may have found one as my realtor has fallen for both of them. They have really been keeping me on my toes and active (as well as bringing me out of my funk mood)...ROFL. They are such good therapy!!
Well, off to get my grocery shopping done, will chat more with you later, you and Pogo have a FANTABULOUS weekend ahead and enjoy your new found peace!! Many hugs!!

Edna I just love what you did for the Photoshop challenge! Precious petals for sure.

You have every right in the world to rag about your family! Their portrait is beautiful and fun. And you're right, Kevin is a very attractive young man when he smiles. A little too young for either of my nieces, pity. ;) lol

I'm sorry you couldn't retire on your own timeline and your own terms, but I'm glad you did it now. Work's been giving you more stress than is reasonable.

While you're taking you blog day off, I'm going to try to have a post you can read on Sunday! It's been busy and I just haven't been home a lot! Not that I want to be cooped up like last winter though. So I move around when I can!

A great big "happy retirement" hug, Nani

Hello there!
After long silence I am more or less back in the air! It took a lon time for the guys to get my computer ready again, but okay, it seems to work fine now.
Now I will have to get all programs installed that I need, did already part of that and then will have to spent time for new stash for the designing. Oh well, there's a lot to find and it gives me chance to get it organized a bit from the start LOL!
Hoorray for you, conratulations on your retirement! It will bring you lots of relaxation, knowing you don;t have to go out for that anymore.
Gone with all that stress, which isn;t good for anybody!
Glad I can use my computer again, have to do still a lot of catching up on blogreading, but slowly does it. Hopefully my computer will have a long second life, so that i will not have to spent lots of money for a new one.
You enjoy that feeling of : not having to go to work" it is a great feeling. Take care of yourself and Pogo,
Hugs
