Gonna Be Slipping And Sliding For A While

Good morning.  It's really lovely outside today.  The sun keeps peeking out from behind the clouds, the temperature is fifty degrees headed for the low seventies, and there's a bit of a breeze.  Nice, nice, nice!

I have to tell you about a bargain I got a couple days ago.  Recently, I ordered a new batch of wee wee pads for Pogo.  Well, they arrived a couple days ago, along with another box that was quite heavy.  Yes, it was addressed to me, but I didn't remember ordering anything else from this company.  I opened the box to see if there was a shipping invoice inside, but there was not.

Yesterday, I called the company to find out if I was billed for the contents of this mystery box, or if they wanted it to be returned.  No, they did not charge me for it.  It was sent by mistake.  "So, why don't you just keep it and enjoy it."  That's what they said to me.  I said thank you, and you have a great day. 

So now I'm the proud owner of forty eight bottles of hand and body lotion!  How about that!!  I'll be slipping and sliding for quite a while to come.  Gonna lather up good every day.  Some other folks too.  I sent a few bottles home with DIL Janet last night.  We can slip around together. 

I went outside this morning to open the door on the greenhouse, and took a few photos while I was out there.  A few of the tulips have come and gone, and there's a few in bloom now.

Also coming into bloom are my lilacs.  This little bush has been trying so hard to grow these last few years.  Between being dug up and moved by the contractors building the porch, walked on and run over by the lawn tractor, and lots and lots of snow and ice, this little bush has persevered.  It's little, but it is beautiful!  Here are photos of the new buds and a few tiny blooms.  (so far!)

The mailman just came, and brought me two packages.  One of them is a Mother's Day gift from Audrey.  Oh dear, shall I open it?  Or should I wait until Sunday.  Such a decision!  I'll have to think about this for a bit.  It's not like it's Christmas.  I don't really have to wait for the actual day if I don't want to.  Oh dear, oh dear. 

When I get packages, I'm like a kid on Christmas morning.  It doesn't matter if it is something that I ordered myself.  It's just fun to get and open packages.  The other package that came today is a couple skeins of yarn from Herrschners to replace the two skeins that got damaged during shipping last week.  This is a great company!

Pogo and I had left over Chinese food for breakfast.  My little guy loves pork lo mien and pork fried rice.  I do too!  I had ordered this last night for our supper.  You know Pogo licked his plate clean!  I always order extra so that we can have more the next day. It's so easy to keep my little guy happy!

Now it's time for me to get busy and do a few things around here so that Pogo and I can sit out on the porch for a while.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

Good morning.  Oh, what a beautiful morning.  The sun is shining, there's a tiny breeze and the temperature is sixty two degrees, working its way to the upper seventies.  Yes, yes, yes!  As I look out my door, my flag is doing a slow happy dance against a background of green leaves and blue sky.  Does it get any better than this?

I've been busy all morning, but don't ask me what had me so busy.  I did make breakfast for Pogo and me.  Not that he ate his!  Pogo likes to know that he has the meal, but he'll only eat it when he's good and ready.  I always make his meal before I make mine.  This way I don't feel guilty when I eat my food.  If he's not ready to eat, I put his meal in the fridge until he asks for it.

Last night, daughter Audrey had some wonderful news.  Hubby Mac and she spent the day buying and putting up a large fenced enclosure for the new turkey that they ordered.  The turkey will be arriving later in the week.  Next, they will get the chicken coop and yard finished and order the chickens.  Hopefully, soon.  Audrey has been wanting chickens and a turkey for quite a while.

Audrey is quite the crafty person, so I thought she might like some patterns for sweaters for her birdy pets.  I went on Google to look up some patterns for turkey sweaters and found that they prefer turkey fleece wraps.  I got this information on an Audibon web site, where I found this photo of a turkey wearing a fleece wrap.

While I was looking for patterns, I came across these very interesting photos from a turkey farm in Connecticut.  Can you imagine watercolor turkeys? 

When you think you've seen everything, you find out that there's a whole lot you don't know and never saw.  I guess maybe that's why I love learning so much.  Not that all my learning helps me very much when I'm watching Jeopardy on TV.  That program has a way of humbling me right down to my toes!

School education doesn't always make a person super smart.  My brother did not get to finish high school and graduate.  At sixteen, he was a soldier in the U.S. Army in Korea.  But, my brother was wicked smart and could always answer most of the questions on Jeopardy.  I have a Master's Degree, and I have a tough time answering just a few of the questions on that program. 

The more education you get, the better off you are.  If you can't go to school, read.  Read, read, read.  You can get unlimited books for free to read from libraries and on the internet.  Starting when I was just two years old, my folks would pick up boxes full of books at rummage sales and bring them home for me.  I loved books, even when I couldn't read them yet.  But I did learn to read very early.

Tis Cherry Blossom Time (Here)

Good morning.  It's really pretty outside but tis cold.  The temperature is up to fifty degrees (it was only 48F degrees when I started this post), and hopefully will make it up to the low seventies later on this morning. 

I did not sleep more than a couple of winks last night because I was worried about the bug spraying that is scheduled for sometime today.  This is a new company that I've hired to come in every three weeks and spray for ticks, fleas and mosquitos.  I had so many questions about the product that they will be using.  My main concern is to make sure it will not hurt any of our birds and small critters. 

A little while ago, I finally called the company to ask about the spray and whether or not it will hurt the wildlife in my yard.  The nice lady reassured me that it would not hurt any of them.  I hope not.  This is nesting season for a lot of the birds, and I worry for them. 

I do have to try to get rid of the mosquitos and ticks and fleas though.  I'm allergic to insect bites and Pogo is super allergic to fleas.  He even takes two different flea medications from April through October.  The other months, he takes just one of the medications. 

I got a lovely surprise a few days ago,  The cherry blossom tree that I planted a few years ago is full of blossoms and is just beautiful!  It has really grown quite tall.  Here are a couple of photos that I just went out back and took.

Pogo and I will be indoors today until it warms up more, so I think I'll do a bit of laundry.  I'll do a load of Pogo's blankets.  I like to keep them fresh because he sleeps with his face buried in the blanket.  Then I'll do a load of my clothes and probably a load of towels, etc.  Well, at least that's the plan. 

Yesterday I spent some time on my laptop making more quick pages.  This is so relaxing and the time just gets away from me.  A few days ago, I bought a sketch pad and some pencils so that when it is warm enough to sit out on the porch for a while, I can try my hand at doodling.  When I was very young, I used to love to draw, mostly fashions and models though.

more kits.  I do believe the sale is over tomorrow though.

Got A Headache?

Good morning.  It's looking really pretty outside today.  It's a bit cooler, sixty degrees, but the sun is shining and there's a lovely breeze.  The end of my driveway is covered in little green leaf covers.  Tis the season!

Not much was happening yesterday, once I got my bearings about the day.  It's good to know that other folks have this problem every now and then too.  It has nothing to do with age.  It has happened to me in younger years too.  Ever go to sleep early, then wake and think it's already the next day?  You start rushing around to get dressed and ready to go wherever you were supposed to be the next morning, only to find that it's really only a few hours after you fell asleep.  Strange!

I've been reading a new book "150 Best All-Time Home Remedies" and thought I'd share a few of the ideas it has for getting rid of headaches.  Actually, this is a booklet that comes with the book "The New Healing Foods."

In ancient Greece, people pressed peppermint leaves against their temples to relieve headache pain.  You can save your leaves for tea, and just rub a 10%peppermint oil solution onto your forehead and temples instead, for the same effect.

You can soak a few thin potato slices in cold vinegar, tie a bandana around your head, and then tuck the potato slices into the bandana at your temples and forehead.  Leave it on for a few hours.  When you remove it, the potatoes will be hot and dry and your headache will be gone.

A drop or two of lavender essential oil massaged into your temples can help relieve a headache.  For sensitive skin, apply a thin layer of vegetable oil or lotion before using the essential oil.  Better yet, massage the lavender into the tender pad of muscle between your thumb and index finger - a pressure point for headaches.

Aren't you glad you stopped by today?  I have lots of these books.  I also have books full of strange information about all sorts of things.  If you enjoy learning like I do, then you would enjoy this type of books.  Even the useless, but entertaining, information is quite fun to learn about. 

Last night I finished the tissue dolly that I was working on and I took a photo to share.  This one has the Kitten and Rose Garden outfit.  The background is a paper from the Pink Paradox kit "Something About Spring."

The next dolly outfit will be light blue.  I started it last night.  I was hoping to do the patriotic outfit, but I couldn't find my white yarn.  Oh well, I can always use an excuse to buy more yarn.  hahaha.

If You See My Mind, Please Send It Home

Good morning (for another eight more minutes).  I'm skipping all over the place this morning.  Every time I think I can sit down at the computer, something else pops up that just can't wait.  I watered the plants, then took photos.  I paid some bills then waited for the mailman.  I needed for these bills to go out in today's mail.

I made up a short shopping list and Joe went to the market to pick these things up for me.  It was several cases of spring water, different cheeses and some roast beef.  My Pogo loves roast beef (me too) so that's what we'll have for lunch.  And maybe supper.  We'll see.  When Joe got back with the groceries, I had to divide the packages of cheese into two packets each.  One packet for the refrigerator and one packet to put in the freezer. 

Last night, I worked on the dolly dress.  I thought I'd finish it and be able to take a photo, but I still have to do the last ruffle and make the hat.  I had to rip out a few rows and re-do them, so finally I just set it aside. 

I am so surprised at the little blossoms on the pepper plant.  I don't see how this tiny plant can hold up a branch with a pepper on it.  This will be fun and interesting to watch.  The plants on the left are tomatoes, and the pepper plants are on the right.

I also took photos of my orange tulip before it is gone, and the little daffodils in the garden by the tool shed. 

This afternoon I think I'll work on my laptop, making some new quick pages.  My folder is quickly emptying out.  But that's good because working on these pages is very relaxing for me. 

I do have a new quick page for today.  This one is a fun one.  My little friend Zlata is enjoying the warm weather, sitting on the beach and contemplating whether or not to go swimming.

*****Resumed on Sunday, May 6.  It took me a few hours yesterday to figure out that it was only Saturday, not Sunday.  Gosh, I think my brain has gone on vacation and didn't tell me.  It does that every now and then.  Scary, huh?

Well, yesterday was rather uneventful.  I mostly just played on my laptop all afternoon, making new quick pages.  At one point, I looked up at the clock and saw that it was time to start making some supper for us.  After supper, I finished the last ruffle row on the dolly dress and put it aside.  I'll make the hat later today.  Those last two ruffle rows take quite a bit of time. 

This morning, I'm watching "Jewelry School" on  JTV.  (Jewelry TV)   They've been featuring a new tool for making the wire loops all the same size.  Gosh, I wish I'd had this tool back when I was making so much jewelry.  It would have made things so much easier.

This morning is gray and wet.  Temps have dropped about twenty degrees, but it is still nice out.  The trees at the end of my driveway are looking so beautiful, full of new Spring green leaves.  It looks like a good day to trim some of the shrubs in the yard.  I want to cut back the Wisteria because it is sending long twines over into my Red Japanese Maple tree. 

Right now, I think I'm going to have my coffee and eat my breakfast.  Pogo and I got up late this morning.  He's already had his turkey treat and is curled up next to me, sound asleep.  When the world is good for him, it's good for me.

A Wet Spring Day In New England

Good morning.  Today is warm and wet.  It looks like the sun is trying to peek out from behind the clouds.  We'll have to wait and see what the day brings.  Meanwhile the plants and lawns are loving the rain.

Yesterday, Pogo and were almost ready to leave for his appointment when the sky opened up and the rains came down.  I dropped him off at the beauty salon and went grocery shopping.  After a while, I went back to the salon to get Pogo and we went home.  Oh my, he is soooo handsome!  I'll take a photo to show off his new "do."

My new yarn order was missing one skein of yarn, and one skein looked like it was dragged on a really dirty floor.  The package had a postal tape on it that read "damaged."  I guess the package got torn and some yarn fell out.  They put the dirty skein in the bag, and I guess they did not see the other skein.  However, the yarn company (Herrshners) is sending me two new skeins of yarn. 

I finally decided on Kitten and Rose Garden yarns for the new dolly dress.  As soon as the outfit is finished, I'll take a photo.  Then, I think I'd like to make a patriotic dress.  Then maybe a purple outfit.  This is fun therapy for my hands.

My new Willie Nelson album came last week, and I love it!  Of course, my favorite song on it is "Something You Get Through."  I'll try posting the video from You Tube here.  Hopefully, it will be okay to do this. 

You know, I just finished this post and most all of it disappeared.  Now I'm starting over.  If there's one thing I don't like, it's to try to remember and re-type a post. 

I went outside for a moment to roll up the door on the greenhouse.  My little pepper plants already have little white flowers on them.  I'll take photos to share on Sunday.  Meanwhile, I have photos from our outing at the park last week.  The first photo shows one of the swans and some of the geese.  The second photo is my daughter Deanne holding her very tired grandson, Xander. 

Now I'm going to take my little laptop out to the porch and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Good morning.  Tis another lovely day here in my little part of New England.  Temps today are supposed to hit the low nineties.  There doesn't seem to be much of a breeze right now, but hopefully, it will pick up in a while.

I want to apologize for not posting yesterday's QP download link.  I did fix that post so if you want the quick page, you can scroll down to yesterday's post and download it.  Thanks for being patient with me.

Yesterday, Pogo and I spent a lot of time on the porch.  He kept busy keeping an eye on the little critters in the yard, and the folks walking by out front, while I was busy potting plants.  I'll have to take a few new photos.

Last night, I finished off the Cornmeal and Marakesh tissue dolly.  Gosh, these dollies just keep getting prettier and prettier. 

My yarn order came in the mail yesterday, so now I will have to decide on the colors for the next dolly.  Oh my, such a problem!  hahaha.  I'm leaning toward Kitten and Rose Garden.  But we'll see.

Later this afternoon, Pogo has an appointment at the beauty salon.  It's time to trim his nails and shorten his hair.  It's getting a bit too warm for a thick coat of hair.  Maybe while I'm waiting for him I can run over to the nearby supermarket and pick up a few things.  It depends on how I'm feeling then. 

Yesterday, I planted some begonia bulbs in a hanging pot but I think I planted them to far into the pot.  So, today I'll re-plant them with more dirt in the pot.  Then I can put some of my planting things away.  They are taking up too much room on the porch.  After that I can wash the table and use it to set my coffee (or water) on. 

I have an extra doggie bed that I will put out there for Pogo.  He does not like the little wooden bed from last year.  I guess we'll donate that one to a rescue shelter.  The groomer has a friend who runs a shelter.  I think I'll pack up some of Pogo's sweaters and shirts that he doesn't wear and donate them too. 

Now I think I'll do a bit blog reading before I head on outside.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
