Just 76 Days Till Spring!!

January 3, 2016

Good morning.  It's cold here, but the sun is shining.  My old bones are feeling the cold now.  It's time to start my countdown till Spring.  Folks, there's just 76 days till Spring!!

I've been watching some of the previews of the new line-up of TV shows, and I'm not very impressed.  It seems we (the audience) can only appreciate the value of downright stupidity, explicit sex and nudity or outright guts, gory and violence.  Even the game show channel has a new show that is designed to scare the heebie jeebies (or whatever) out of us.

Pretty soon, it will be super easy to make the decision to get rid of cable.  We pay a lot of money for our cable, yet the quality of programs seems to be constantly declining.  Even the language is becoming quite distasteful.  There is a lot of swearing and foul talk now allowed on the big screens in our living rooms.

So now I play my music a lot more often.  Mind you, it's not the new stuff you hear on the air waves.  Nope, I play the old stuff.  You don't need sheet music to understand what the words to the music are, and it's not advocating disrespect and violence.  Don't get me wrong, some of the new music is nice.  But I'll stick to the old stuff for now.

Okay, time to get off my bandbox.  Yesterday was a day for doing lots of laundry.  Scatter rugs and clothes.  Today I should probably wash a few of our blankets.  Then I think I'd best sit down and write out a few bills and birthday cards that need to go out in the morning mail.  I should probably start working on my tax stuff, but I think I'll let that wait until tomorrow.

For Christmas, I received a set of Jelly camera lenses that I've been playing around with.  They are really quite fun to use.  Thank you Nani.  I'll have to practice a bit using them, but here are a couple of my first photos taken with them.

So far, I've only used these lenses indoors at night.  I need to practice more with them during daylight.  And, I think I'll take them to Florida with me so that Audrey and I can play together.  We take a lot of photos while we are there, and these lenses will add to the fun.

I got a late start here this morning because I was busy checking out the scrap kits sales by a couple of my favorite designers, Tiny Turtle Designs and Bella Caribena.  You can find them both at Wilma4Ever.

Now I think I'll get started on those blankets.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

It's always fun to have new toys to play with and Florida would be the perfect time to share the joy with your daughter.

Well, your rant is well taken. The fact is that Americans are being dumbed down by our schools and our politicians to the point of needing to dumb down the quality of television shows just to get people to watch it. I mean honestly ... would you vote for Donald Trump? Well, someone is and I am guessing they are the same ones who watch the junk on TV. Every time my FH and I think we have found a "good" program it gets canceled ... that should tell you how many people who even understand quality are still around. I am totally disgusted with the state of affairs in our country ... and not sure there is anything anyone can do to stop the decline ... sad, so sad!

On a more pleasant note, I love your new lenses ... looks like a whole lot of fun to me. If you get the chance send me the names of makes of them so I can look into it. I need something that will make me laugh :)

The Holidays are over and now I am focusing on getting things in order for my Thailand trip. It is like 5 weeks away. My son did a lot of the scheduling and planning for us before he left (They are in Thailand enjoying the WARM weather already}. Can't wait. I bought a book on Birds and Wildlife of Thailand so I would know what I was looking at and what I need to avoid, if you get my gist (snakes, bugs etc.) We will have a Thai guide (Mint) so I expect we will know what to do or not do :) Well, it is dinner time and I need to get things started. Have a nice evening listening to music, Edna ... talk to you again soon :)

I like older music best from the 50s thru the 80s. my hubby used to play guitar in a rock band, but now only has christian music in his car. I guess as we get older we don't keep up with current music. I'd happily listen to Christmas carols year round too - they always relax me.

I love music too! Someday's these shows, ugh! I have taped some of the Diagnosis Murder episodes. Love that Dick Van Dyke. He is ageless at 90! I watch lots of Hallmark movies too and anything clean and wholesome and it is hard to come by anymore. Nick is helping me with these hourly text words to try to win some cash, $1000 to be exact! Ah...it can happen I won once several years ago when the guy said I was the winner I nearly fell outta my shoes! HeeHee! I keep current with music because of the kids and I like lots of new sounds but there is a lot of trash out there too just like social media! Wow! Zero censors. Have a great week and stay healthy!

I'm glad to see you're enjoying the lenses. They looked like so much fun!

I've been in a position where I've been watching a lotMore tv the past couple weeks. I totally agree that the new shows seem just plain dumb. I got to see Gone With The Wind a few nights ago, but I've been watching a lot of old shows.
