Rescued Doggies (And Kitties) Are The Best!!

September 4, 2015

Good morning.  Gosh, I tried so hard to sleep late this morning, but Mr. Pogo was insisting that I leave my comfy covers and make him some breakfast.  Goodness, he can be such a demanding young man!    This is amazing when you consider how quiet he was when I first got him.  It was weeks before we even knew he could bark!

Speaking of doggies, I have a photo of daughter Audrey with her two rescued doggies, Moon and BJ.  Aren't they just the sweetest doggies?   BJ has grown a bit since this photo was taken, and is now  twice the size of Moon.

I've come across another interesting crochet pattern.  This one doesn't look very difficult, and is rather pretty.  It's called a "Simply Soft Afternoon Wrap."   I think I might like to try this pattern.  After all my holiday projects are finished, of course.

A week ago, I had ordered a skein of the yarn that I need to finish the Claret afghan.  (The one I keep calling "Merlot")   That package came a couple days ago, so now I can get this project finished up soon.

Actually, I'm in pretty good shape with my holiday projects and shopping this year.  My two big projects left to be done are my Christmas cards and next year's calendar.  Then of course, there is the wrapping and packing up my "mail away" boxes.  I got a call from my friend Santa, and he's looking for ideas on what to bring for the dwarfs this year.  Hmmm, I have to think on this for a while.

Included in the wildlife critters that live in our yard, is a fat rat.  Sad to say, this is one of God's creatures that I do not wish to share my space with.   The fellow who came to treat our lawns and trees (for mosquitos and ticks)  referred me to a local company who can get rid of this unwanted guest and all the ants that keep trying to come inside the house.  I called, and set up an appointment for them to come out next Tuesday.

That's about it for today's news.   Before I leave, I have another picture puzzle for you.  This one has several animals hidden in it.  I'm not sure how many, so good luck.

Now I'm going to see what looks tasty for our lunch.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

I think I'd have to agree with you ...a rat would be bit scary to come across, plus I'd be worried about it coming into the house for winter warmth.

Interesting picture puzzle, I'm sure there were many more than the ones I could find.

Edna,
What an interesting puzzle. My eyes couldn't hold out but boy oh boy I did find at least 10,or I think that I did anyway.
I just love the new wrap. If I send you the yarn would you mind making that for me. It looks perfect for what I would love to do while sitting outside or just cuddled reading and watching a movie. Just let me know and if you can't then that's ok too.
I enjoyed our talk this morning. I am feeling a bit tired. I know that it is my medicine still that is taking it's toll on me but at this point I am really glad for the rest. I have the usual chores to take care of but I will get to them eventually.

I am rather ticked off at Nathan at the moment.
I asked him to feed and water Cisco for me. He didn't do it so I went in to discover that Cisco had only a tiny bit of food. I poured it into the bowl and he had switched the food bowl with the water bowl and since I didn't have my glasses on, Cisco's food went into the water dish. I fussed at Nathan and he got all ticked off and said if I would pay attention it would not have happened.. Oh gosh really? I replied.. If you had done as I asked then this would not have happened at all.

Sometimes I feel that I am the only one that takes care of the necessities around here. If I leave it to the boys then they just don't get done. Jonathan works 12 hour days so I don't ask him to do so much around here, but part of Nathan's (rent) is to help take care of Cisco when he is home.

I am going to have lunch and lay down and read for a little while. Perhaps I will feel more of energy soon to take care of the kitchen and a few things. I really need to do my laundry and work on my blog although I really have nothing to talk about at the present time.

Jonathan did send me a message and said for me to find something fun for him and I to do tomorrow. Just the two of us. I think that I can handle that... Talk to you soon. Cisco, and Beth. Give Master Pogo love from us!!!

Beth, Let me try making it first. I haven't looked at the stitches in the pattern yet. There are some stitches that I just don't do because I don't have the patience. This pattern doesn't seem to look all that difficult so I'll let you know as soon as I've tried it out.

I hope your day out with Jonathan is super! Pogo sends licks to Cisco, and Lady too. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

Oooh! I see a cat, fish and a couple monkeys...plus a giant human face and a couple of creepy people in cloaks so far. That's a hint for other readers, not spoiling it because I didn't mention where they are. I'm just excited because I can see a few things. Your puzzles usually make my eyes feel very humble! ;)

Of course you know I totally agree with you about how great rescues are! Our truck stop kitten (Kaline) and Shelter Cat (Carla) were rescues and Marco was a kitten born in a garage to a stray mom who was adopted with one of Marco's sisters by our friend after he and his other sibling were adopted out. My dad's big dog, Sasha, was rescued. She'd survived a Michigan winter alone in the woods before she was brought to the shelter they adopted her from and she is such a sweet girl! Rescues are so loving and loyal to the people who save them, it's like they know it could have been s much worse for them if not for their humans.

I like the afternoon wrap pattern. I made a few longer wool wraps like that as gifts a number of years ago. My sister-in-law was in love with the one I'd made for myself and when she opened the one I made her for Christmas she was in tears. (It was the Christmas after the girls were born, so "it" was really not about my brother and her anymore; that made the gift even more personal. Hand-made gifts are so special like that. (reminds me of my reaction the day I opened the box with the afghan you me for me!)

My dad used to shudder when the opossums came to eat with the racoon familiy we fed on our patio. He called those "big white rats." I could deal with a rat in our yard as long as NOT inside the house! But then again, I'm not out in the yard much and don't have a doggie who goes out there to protect!

Have a great holiday weekend!

Hugs, Nani

I wouldn't like a rat either. My aunt had mice, but didn't have the heart to kill them, so she got those no kill traps and set them free, unfortunately within 24 hours they were back. I had an ant problem for a few days, it usually happens once a summer, because it's so hot, they come looking for water. once the weather stops being extremly hot they usually don't come in anymore. thank goodness. My Kobi, didn't bark either at first, not till she felt comfortable, now she talks ahem..barks up a storm - LOL!

Sorry I missed some posts, I just didn;t get much time at the computer, but don't ask me why!! Okay, had an appointment with my volunteer coach, also went to the hairdresser to have a good cut. Did some things here in the house, also gave myself a few hours in town, just looking around here and there.
And suddenly a couple of days are just gone.
hope to do a little bit at the computer this weekend, but there also are some interesting things at tv to follow, and hen an afternoon is gone before you know it. Also still working on a few knitting projects, and also next week I must look at internet to see if I can find some volunteerwork to do. Oh enough asked for, but if possible I would like to do something that suites me.
wsell, I am may be invited to a meeting to set up a language course(a very simple one), for women that are not native dutch, already know some of the Dutch language but could do with some extra lessons, to be able to be more self supporting. Would be nice to do,a lthough I have no teacher liscence or real experience. Still, I could may be help in setting up the material for the lessons and later start(perhaps with somebody at my side)giving some practise.
we'll see how this all developes. If not, I will have to find something else.
Oh my, rats aren;t nice to have around. Specially not in the house. And I neither like to have a lot of ants walking around in my house LOL.
Hopefully the controller can do a good job for you!
Have a lovely weekend,(with some descent sleep at night)
Hugs
