Happy Labor Day

September 7, 2015

Good morning on this beautiful Labor Day.  In the United States, Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday in September.  It honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country.

Canada's Labour Day is also celebrated on the first Monday of September.  More than eighty other countries celebrate International Workers' Day on May 1 as their holiday dedicated to labor.   (all info from Wikipedia}

There are all kinds of survivors in this world, but some are just so unique.  Last year, I had a pot of purple petunias on the steps by my door.  Somehow, one tiny seed dropped to the ground, and found a tiny space to hibernate in through the Winter and Spring.  Once Summer got here, this tiny seed began to grow through the dried leaves on the ground.  It went unnoticed until a couple of weeks ago when it produced a gorgeous fuschia colored blossom.

When Joe was weeding and cleaning some of the yard, he decided to make a flower pot to go around this beautiful little plant to keep it safe.  It's sort of like a gift from nature.

Today, all of the dwarfs and Pogo and I are just going to enjoy a quiet, restful day.  Pogo has already had his turkey treat from Joe, and his breakfast, so he is a very happy little camper.  Shortly, I will do some more work on one of my crochet projects.  I think I can finish it today.  Yeah!!  It's a yellow shawl, and it's quite pretty.

Last night, I spent a little time on the internet researching different sewing machines so that I will be able to pick out just the right one for me when the time is right.  DIL Janet will be buying one too.  I think we will both be wanting one that is computerized and very smart.  Smart enough to do most of the hard work for us.  Ahh, we are such dreamers!!

Well that's about all the news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

There are so many inspirational things in nature! That fuchsia petunia is a great example of “grow where you're planted,” and it did that well!

Have a wonderful Labor Day!

What a wonderful Survivor Edna! Just beautiful and isn't it truly amazing how God gifts us with these little bits of hope and beauty?

A very quiet day for us today as well. I know a lot of people are planning trips to the lake, to get in as much fun and swimming as possible. Some will be bbq'ing, and some like us will just putter around at home today and have a great day. I am going to pamper myself with a bubble bath and a good book and perhaps even a small glass of wine.

Have a wonderful day.... Cisco sends his greetings.

Trust you are enjoying the holiday. Nothing exciting in my world. Going to play bingo with other seniors in a few minutes. Take care.

Choosing a sewing machine is always so much fun. I'm hoping mine lasts forever, because I don't want to learn a new one.

It is amazing what lovely gifts nature has for us!
h, I am such a happy person today. Received a blue envelop from the tax office with the all important letter in it that I receive some money back, finally! They are really late this year, short in workers, because there was a cut down in manpower, to bring down costs.
It took 4 months to let me know I get some money back. But okay, now in a few days it will be on my bankaccount. Not that I am suddenly millionaire, but it is good to know we have a small and humble reserve.
Will go for some food shopping today and I saw the supermarket had an offer for mussels, so I think I will take home a bowl with the 2 kilo's in it.
It's an easy but tasty meal, will have some french bread with it, some garlic butter, perhaps 2 sauces for the mussles, may be some salad and voila, a meal has been born again LOL.

Hope your Labour day was a pleasant and quiet one.
Have a lovely day,
Hug
