Even The Turkeys Had Dinner

November 29, 2019

Good morning.  I hope everyone had a joyous Thanksgiving Day.  Pogo and I had a wonderful day, even though our dinner plans changed considerably.  None of the restaurants that are usually open on this Holiday were open.  Hmmm, what to do now.

We were really looking forward to that tasty Chinese food, but it was not to be.  So I cooked up a pot of pasta and meat sauce and we all sat down to a very tasty dinner.  Folks, it's not the food that makes it a joyous time, it's who you share it with.

After dinner, Pogo and I had a nap, what else is new?   I must have thousands of photos of my little guy sleeping, but I just can't help myself.  He looks so darned cute!

After our nap, I got out the pink afghan and added quite a few more rows to it.  I'm close to three quarters done with it.  Woo Hoo!  I'll have to take a photo of it soon.  It's really quite pretty.  I'm thinking that I'll send this one to our dear friend Ulf in Sweden.

Today, I want to work on my Christmas card.  I'd really like to order my calendars and cards to be printed by tomorrow so that I can get them in the mail before Christmas.  Wish me luck.

Yesterday, my turkeys were back, looking for their Thanksgiving dinner.  So I filled a bowl with feed and Dwarf Mike took the food out  to them.  He no sooner put the food on the ground, they all came running to get it.  It may sound strange, but it's a good feeling to know that the turkeys all had something for dinner.

There was a huge packet of sale flyers in yesterday's paper, so I guess I'll be looking through them today just in case there is something in there that I need.  (or want)  I think I'm pretty much done with my Christmas shopping though.  Later today, I'll check through things just to make sure.

This week I received a new book that I had ordered.  I used to work a lot with herbs, and I thought it would be fun to try it again.  There are some wonderful recipes in this book.

Now I have to go check to see if Joe is up yet so that Pogo can go out in the house and have his turkey treat.  I can't really get started on anything until I know that Pogo is all set.  I'm off now, so till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY

November 28, 2019

Good morning.  Today is Thanksgiving day here in the States.  The sun is shining and the temperature is a balmy 42 F degrees.  According to my phone app, we should be getting rain soon for the rest of the day.  But right now it is lovely outside my door.

This post will be short.  Most all of you will be getting together with family and friends to share a meal and give thanks for all that you have.  Pogo and I are going to sit down to dinner with a couple of the dwarfs (tennants) who will be home today.  Pogo is excited because we're ordering one of his favorite foods for dinner.  Chinese Pork Lo Mein and Pork Fried Rice.

This afternoon, I think I'll get out the pink afghan and put a few more rows on it.  It's finally more than half done.  Tomorrow I have to get serious about getting my Christmas card done.  I need to order it so that I have time to mail it.

Before I go, let me leave you with this thought.  (borrowed from the web)

Till tomorrow, Happy Thanksgiving.  Y'all have a Blessed day.

Hugs, Edna B.

So Many Wonderful Bargains To Shop For

November 27, 2019

Good morning.  It's only 5:30 a.m. and I've been up for about an hour.  My little Pogo was hungry so Mama got up and got him his breakfast.  Now that his tummy is full, he's back under the blanket, softly snoring.  What a delightful sound!

I'm watching HSN (shopping) on TV.  Today starts their free shipping and six payments on everything.  Right now, they are featuring electronics.  So far, I'm not buying, but I do enjoy watching and learning about the different products.

Wouldn't it be nice if they had a 10" laptop to offer?  Now that might tempt me to buy.  Maybe.  It would all depend on what the laptop could do, how much memory it has, etc. etc.  Right now, they are featuring their daily special, a Pac Man Arcade game.  Remember the fun we all had with Pac Man?  This arcade looks like a lot of fun.  (nope, I'm not buying it.)

Today I want to share some art done by my friend Mary Ann.  This is a Vintage Mining Shed.  She took the photo on one of her trips to either Arizona or Nevada.  I'm not sure which.  Then she applied her artistic touch to it, and voila!  This is just beautiful.

I absolutely love the colors.  This digital art exudes a sense of peace and calmness.  Mary Ann, thank you so much for letting me share this.

***** A short break to make a fresh cup of coffee and eat my breakfast.  Thank you for being patient with me.

Well, the electronics portion of the shopping program is over so it's time to switch to Law and Order.  This is one of my favorite shows, so I'm enjoying all the re-runs.  These will be on till about eleven o'clock.  Then I'll probably switch to BUZZR, all older game shows.  My favorites are Match Game and Concentration.  But I like them all.

Yesterday, Joe took my package to the Post Office for me.  Then Deanne came by before work and packed up all my solar thingies for the winter.  I just have to pick up some heavy duty plastic so that we can cover the front screens on the porch.  Then I'll be all set for the winter.

I want to thank Steve Reed for finding information for me on the Mullein versus Evening Primrose.  Now I'm not sure just what plant it is that I have growing in my garden.  It's probably Mullein because it gets really tall.  When I can, I'll go out and see if there are any seed pods on one of the plants.  If there is, I'll take one apart to see what the seeds look like.  Then I can look them up on Google.  In any case, it doesn't matter because the plant is beautiful and the birds love it.

Before I take my leave, let me share this image that I borrowed from the web.  All animals are precious, even when they have special needs or when they are old.  They all deserve a loving home.  So if you are thinking about adopting, please consider the "Less Adoptable Pet."  They need love too.

Now I'm off to do a few things before sitting down to some blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Gobble, Gobble, Gobble.  In turkey talk that means have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Look Alike Plants? Or Relatives?

November 26, 2019

Good morning.  Today is supposed to be a beautiful day, warm and sunny.  I've been up for a couple hours, breakfast done, trash and recycles taken out to bins, and I'm ready to start a new day.  Joe is off work this week so Pogo has been getting his turkey treat really early in the morning.  Between 6 and 7 a.m.

I don't know how Pogo figured out that Joe is home every day, but he's out at my pantry door right around 6 o'clock in the morning just waiting to bark at anything or anyone who might move about in the house.  I think he maybe can smell the coffee that Joe is brewing.  Either way, if I'm not already up, then that does the trick.

With my respiratory problems, I'm always on the lookout for anything that might help.  I came across an article about Mullein Tea and ordered some.  So far, I have no thoughts on whether or not it helps.  Maybe I haven't been drinking it long enough.

Mullein is really quite beautiful.  It looks a lot like the plants in my yard that I call Evening Primrose.  Now I'm going to have to do some research to find out what my plant really is.  My plant grows quite tall and the leaves and flowers are quite similar.  If anyone has any information on these two plants, please let me know.

I only did a little bit of wrapping yesterday.  I guess I just wasn't in the right mood to do much of it.  Sometime between now and tomorrow, I'd like to get out to buy a birthday card.  I need to have it in the mail by tomorrow in order for it to get to its destination in time.  That means that I have to get a package in the mail too.  My goodness, I'm getting way behind all of a sudden.

Here's a picture that I borrowed from the web.  I don't know who the author is but I thought it was too cute not to be shared.  I've never seen a baby otter.  My goodness, this Mom and baby are so beautiful!

Now I'm off to get that package wrapped and labelled so that I can get it to the Post Office.  While I'm out I'll pick up the birthday card.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

My Magic Blanket

November 25, 2019

Good morning.  At the moment it is gray and cold outside.  However, my phone app says that the temp will rise to close to 50 F degrees with lots of sunshine.  Oh gosh, I hope so.  We'll see though, my phone app tends to be wrong sometimes.

Well, yesterday turned out to be a rest and nap day instead of "do a project" day.  But that's okay.  I guess when the body gets old, it just naps when it needs to no matter what you might have planned.  Of course, that meant that from about 3 a.m. this morning I was up.  Bright eyed and bushy tailed.  At least the shopping channel had lots of good things to show.

I think there's magic sleepy dust in that big orange blanket that I have because as soon as I bring it out, Pogo and I crawl under and fall asleep.  Here's my little guy early this morning.

Today though, I really do want to get more wrapping done.  The other day, I picked up some cute things for my daughter Laura Jean, so I can get her box packed and ready for mailing.  Friday's mail brought a package with two more gift items I've been waiting for.  Now there are two more folks' gifts I can wrap and tag.  Little by little, I'm getting there.

I would still like to try painting the Nativity family rocks.  So I might just give it a try once all my Christmas stuff is finished.   And I want to work on the new red and black afghan too.  I guess I'll be busy right up till it's time to get ready for my vacation.

While browsing the web, I came across this picture.  I think it is just beautiful.  I do my best to try to make life a little better for as many animals as I can.  If we all did this, wow!

I have a string of lights that I want to put up on my porch after Thanksgiving.  It will be the first time that I put up any lighted decorations outside here.  Years ago, I always decorated, but then I got lax.

How quickly this year has flown by.  I can't believe that Thanksgiving is just three days away.  After that, there's only a few more weeks left to the year.  Hmmm, I wonder if the cold weather can speed right by just as quickly?  I know, dream on girl!

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Tis A Rainy Day In New England

November 24, 2019

Good morning.  Today is wet and gray.  Raining with temps getting up into the upper forties for most of the day.  The rain is supposed to let up around nine o'clock tonight.  Well, we do need the rain, so it's not all bad.  Tomorrow and the next day are supposed to be sunny and warmer.

Deanne came by on Friday and we got to do a few errands including a bit of grocery shopping.  I only meant to pick up a few items, but well, I got into it and bought quite a bit more than I had planned.  But that's okay because I won't have to go shopping again so soon.

I've been getting lots of wonderful ideas about the different photo editing programs from everyone, so thank you.  As soon as I decide what I'll get for a small travel laptop, I'll be able to decide on the photo software.  I've been checking out all the small laptops (10 ")  on the web, and soon I'll have to make a couple phone calls because I have a few questions that were not answered in the different ads.

I really can't wait much longer to decide on this smaller laptop because soon it will be time to go to Florida and I take the little laptop with me.  Yup, it is time to start my countdown till vacation time.  Pogo and I love our (timeshare) condo in Florida, and the weather is always nice when we are there.

Friday, when Deanne and I got back from shopping, the side of my yard was full of turkeys.  What a delightful surprise!  I call them my turkeys.  When the weather turns cold, my turkeys come back most every day looking for food.  If Joe is home, he takes food out to them.  They run over by the cars or behind trees until he puts the food down, and then they come running to eat it all up.  It really is a fun sight to see.  Deanne took these photos.

I haven't seen my turkeys today.  Maybe because of the rain?  I wonder where they go when it is raining.  Do they have food today?  Do any of them sleep in my trees?  I don't know the answer to this because I've never seen any of them in my trees.  Gosh, so many questions.

A friend of mine posted this next photo on the web and I borrowed it.  I do not know who took the photo, but it is simply gorgeous.  This is a famous landmark from here.  I actually remember way back when it was first painted.  This is Dorchester Bay at sunset.  Wow, simply beautiful!

I've been taking it fairly easy lately but today I want to do a bit more wrapping.  I still have two more boxes to get ready for mailing.  I need to check out some auto insurance prices this week too because I'm getting tired of paying so much money every year.  There are no marks on my sixty four and a half year driving record so I should not have to be paying so much money for the insurance.

I've already done a bit of research on how much insurance I need to carry on my car, and although a lot of it is confusing, I think I understand enough of it to make some changes in my coverage.  At least I hope I do.

Yesterday I never even opened my laptop so today I have a lot of blog reading to to get caught up on.  So, on that note, I'll take my leave.  First I want to make a fresh cup of something hot to drink, maybe hot chocolate.  Then it's off to do my blog reading.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Checking Alternative Photo Editing Programs

November 22, 2019

Good morning.  Tis gray and windy with temps of 46 F degrees.  Today is supposed to get up into the mid fifties before cooling off again and starting to rain.  Tomorrow we should see the sun again, with cooler temps of course.

Yesterday did not pan out to be an outing to do errands.  Life has a way of changing plans.  So Pogo and I used the day to relax and just take it easy.  Today is another day.  I got busy and forgot to call my friend Mary Ann yesterday morning.  I'll have to text her to see when is another good time to help me with Photoshop Cloud.

I'm tempted to buy the latest Photoshop Elements and just get rid of the Cloud program when my year subscription expires.   I mainly use the program to make cards, calendars and quick pages, and to crop and lighten my photos.  I really don't need all the bells and whistles that the Photoshop Cloud offers.

I just took a break to look up Photoshop Elements on Amazon.  The customer questions and answers leave me a bit confused.  If any of you use this program could let me know how it is for you?  I have never used it, but I figured it would not be too hard to learn because I've had Photoshop for years.

Today I have two "Find The Differences" puzzles from Dover Publications.  These are great for keeping one's mind sharp.  Enjoy.

Not too long ago, I found an ad in one of my catalogues for a package of three pairs of women's socks.  They were lightweight and had no elastic in the top to leave marks on your skin.  They had my size and a much bigger size.  Knowing that socks usually tend to shrink down a bit when they are washed, I ordered the larger size.

The socks arrived and are sooooo comfy!  But they are definitely too big.  So I washed and dried them and  tried them on again.  Well dang it all, they did not shrink down even one tiny bit.  They are still too big!  I will have to re-order them in the correct size.  Go figure!

I'm off now to get a bottle of cold water and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Getting A Lot Done

November 21, 2019

Good morning.  Tis seven o'clock and I've been up for a while.  I washed a few dishes, made a cup of coffee and whatever other mischief I could find to get into.  Today is supposed to be sunny with temps in the mid forties.  Woo Hoo!

Deanne is coming by today to take me to the Post Office so that I can mail a couple boxes.  They don't have the new calendars in them so I'll have to mail those separately when they are printed.  I just want to make that my boxes get out of here in plenty of time for Christmas delivery.

Last night, I pulled out a lot of the little gifty things and wrapped and tagged all of them.  I'm just waiting for a few things that I ordered to get here, and I'll be all done with my Christmas shopping.  I gave a few things out during the year.  It was fun and now I'm enjoying wrapping the rest of the gifts.

I bought a new Christmas tree for out in the main house, and Joe will put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving.  I'll probably buy some new lights and decorations to put on it.  I may even hang a string of lights up on my little porch.   I seem to have a lot more spirit in me this year.  This is good.

Audrey's hubby, Mac, recently returned from a hunting trip.  Nope, he didn't get a deer, but he did have a lot of fun bonding with good friends and nature.  And now he's happy being back home.  This is a photo of Mac and Audrey celebrating his home coming.

Poking around on the web, I came across this wonderful idea for covering any outdoor electrical plugs.  I would go one step further and put tape over the cut outs after the cover is on the container.  This would ensure that no water got into it.

Now I'm off to find some more mischief to get into.  And, I think I'll order the red and black yarn for the next afghan.  Once all the wrapping is done, I may even pick up a few supplies and try some of that rock painting that I've put on hold.  Hmmm, so many fun things to do!

So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Respecting Each Other's Opinions

 November 20, 2019

Good morning.  I've already typed most of this post twice, and both times it just disappeared.  Poof!  Gone!  If this keeps up, I won't be using this laptop anymore for typing my blog posts.  I just don't have the patience for this nonsense.

I don't know why it is happening and I don't know if I'm hitting a magic Poof key when I'm typing.  I've checked the keyboard and I can't figure any of this out.  Windows 7 was such a good program and it was not broken, so why did it have to be replaced?

The same goes for Photoshop.  My last version of the program was working fine, then all of a sudden the whole program was re-vamped and changed so much that most of it does not even resemble the older version.  Sighhhhh!

I want to address a "commenting" problem that a friend of mine has encountered recently, and now she has decided not to leave comments anymore.  She left a comment on someone's blog in answer to a comment that someone else had left.  The other person came back with a verbal attack that really was not called for.  This other person had views that she felt needed to be shoved down other people's throats as the only acceptable views.

This is entirely not called for.  So, please don't do it here.  If anyone feels it is necessary to attack another commenter on my blog, then I shall block them from commenting permanently.  (So far, no one has done this here on my blog, and I appreciate that.)  It is okay to disagree with other folks opinions.  It is not okay to verbally attack other folks because their opinions are different from ours.

On a lighter note, did anyone notice how bright the moon was all last week?  Deanne sent me a photo that she had taken one night.  The moon was so bright that it lit up the whole street.

Then, Saturday night when we got home from the Cabaret, I noticed the big bright moon over my house so I took a photo (using my phone).  It lit up my whole yard.

Today I'm going to do a bit more wrapping.  It feels good to be ahead of myself for a change.  I also need to make a grocery order for pick up either tomorrow or the next day.  And, I have to decide what I'm going to do about Thanksgiving dinner.  Believe it or not, Thanksgiving is next week.  Wow, we are getting awfully close to the end of this year.  Time is flying by so quickly.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading before getting started on my wrapping.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Slowly Getting Things Wrapped And Tagged

November 19, 2019

Good morning.  It's not quite six o'clock and it is still dark outside.  The temperature is 39 F degrees, and we might just make it into the low forties later today.  It's also raining.  Lightly.  This is supposed to clear up by noon.

I've been up for a while, keeping busy doing lots of little nothings.  I sorted the items in a package that came yesterday.  All but one item is a gift that needs to be wrapped and tagged.  I think I'll get that done after I finish this post.

I did work on my new Christmas card the other day, but I ran into a few snags with Photoshop Cloud.  It's totally different than the older version, and I don't know my way around it good enough to make the things that I need to make.  I may have to call my friend Mary Ann to help me or I might not have a new Christmas card this  year.

Danielle Steele is one of my favorite authors, but I haven't read any of her new books in the last few years.  So, I read her book "Legacy" this past weekend.  As usual, it was very enjoyable.  If you like researching family histories, you'll love this book.

I'm beginning to run low on novels now.  Pretty soon, I'll have to make a trip to the library and take out a few books to read.  I have a lot of self help books, but they can't take the place of a good novel.

Last night I picked up my crocheting and put a couple more rows on the pink afghan.  If I do this every other day or so, this afghan will eventually get finished.  I'm wanting to start the red and black afghan, but first I need to finish this pink one.

I had the orange blanket rolled up into a large ball and set on the end of the sofa.  When I looked around for Pogo, I'm sure you can guess where I found him.  Yup, curled up beneath the blanket.

My little Pogo is happiest when he is curled up beneath warm fuzzy blankets.  I wonder why it is that doggies love to crawl under these fuzzy blankets and go to sleep.   I know it's warm beneath these blankets, but how to the doggies breathe?  My little Pogo sticks his nose into the blanket and goes to sleep that way.

Well, it's time to make a hot cup of coffee and get started wrapping these gifts.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Winter Blues

November 18, 2019

Good morning.  Tis wet and gray here today.  The temperature is 37 F degrees and probably won't get much higher today.  The rain isn't supposed to stop until shortly before noon tomorrow.  According to my phone app, which of course isn't usually the most accurate.  So we shall see.

Yesterday turned out to be quite the lazy day for Pogo and me.  We napped and watched TV.  Today though, it's back to "a project a day" for me.  It doesn't matter what the project is as long as I do one.  I'm trying to keep myself active and busy as much as I possibly can.  At least during the cold weather where I don't get out so often.

I keep trying to get back to my crocheting, but for some reason it just isn't as much fun at the moment.  I don't really understand this.  Maybe it's because these last afghans are taking so long to finish?  I don't usually like projects that take forever to finish.  Of course, if I worked on them more often, they wouldn't take so long to finish.

Maybe this is just the winter/cold weather blues.  It seems to happen every year right about now.  Do any of you ever have this problem?  I just looked this up on Google and it seems to be a common ailment this time of year.

It's known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).  I copied a lot of printed material on this subject, but it's too long to print here.  If anyone is interested, send me a request by email and I'll send it to you.  (email:  dezuray@comcast.net)

A lot of it can be helped with vitamins C and D, and keeping busy with different projects.  Today I'll check my vitamin stash to see what, if anything, I'm missing.  Then I'll place an order on Amazon.

Today I have a Dover coloring page for you.  Coloring is very soothing and relaxing and could possible help with the winter doldrums.

Now I'm going to refresh my cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading before I pick a project for today.  Before I go, let me share this picture that I borrowed from the web.  This topic is near and dear to my heart.  Even if you can't adopt or foster a doggie, maybe you could visit a shelter once in a while just to visit and play with the doggies there?

So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Wonderful Night Out

November 17, 2019

Good morning.  Tis a gray day so far, but the temperature is rising a speck.  It was 27 F degrees just a little while ago, and now it is up to 32 F degrees, with hopes of seeing forty degrees by noon time.  Joe started closing up my porch yesterday, but I still have to go out there and cover everything up and put all the little solar thingies away.

Last evening,  I went to watch the Disney Magic performance at the Paris Cabaret with my daughter Deanne and my great granddaughter Lilah.  We had a wonderful time.  This was not a dinner show, but desserts and beverages were served.  I had the Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream.  Oh my, delicious!  Both girls had chocolate desserts.

Here are some photos from last night.  Top left, Granddaughter and Great Granddaughter, Jasmine and Lilah.  Top right, Deanne and Lilah.  Bottom left, Lilah and me, Bottom right, Program.

Jazzy sang "I'm Almost There" from The Princess and The Frog."

Jazzy and Nicholas Foster sang "A Whole New World" from Aladdin.  As of Friday evening, they had not had a chance to practice together.  Then yesterday, Jazzy worked all day at her job and then went straight to the Cabaret.  Nick lives in Maine and drove in yesterday to do the show.  I have to say, they sounded wonderful.

The whole show was just wonderful.  I thought I had seen most all of the Disney movies, but I discovered that there are a few I have not seen.  So, I'll have to see about renting a few of them.

I probably won't make it to the December show, "Malt Shop Memories" but that's okay because I am going to the New Year's Eve Show and they will perform the Malt Shop Memories again that night.  So I won't really be missing out on anything.

Today I think I'll just relax and maybe do a bit of crocheting.  And I think I'll call my cousin Ellen to see how she is doing.  She's been in the hospital and is now in a rehab working on getting well enough to go home.  Hopefully that will be soon.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Do You Read Your Doggie Bedtime Stories?

November 15, 2019

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 37 F degrees.  My weather app says we should see temps in the high forties this afternoon.  That would be nice.  It would be even nicer if tomorrow was going to be a speck warmer too because I'm going out tomorrow evening.  Alas, it won't be so.

Tomorrow evening, I'm going to the Paris Cabaret with my daughter Deanne and my great granddaughter Lilah.  We're going to see Jazzy and the other Starliners perform the Disney Magic Show.

Today I really should do some laundry.  Every day I say I'm going to do it, but so far I've been able to talk myself out of doing it.  However, the laundry basket is almost to the overflowing point.  That settles it!  I'll be right back......

One load in the washer, and two more loads to go ---towels and doggie blankets.  In between loads of laundry, I'll finish working on my new calendar.  It's almost ready to be sent to the printer.  After that, I'll work on my Christmas card.  I would like to have both of these items finished and back from the printer before the end of this month.

Last night I had planned to watch some Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts.  However, I fell asleep early instead.  I'm thinking that I might pick another book from my bookshelf to read tonight.  As I look at the bookshelf nearest to me, I realize what an eclectic look it has.  There are novels from my favorite authors, books about birds, Tarot, gardening, science, dreams, household hints and tips, holidays, software programs, herbs, genealogy, Bedtime Stories for Dogs, Cookbook for Children, probate, New England Folklore, and a Bible.  And that's just one of my bookshelves.

In "Bedtime Stories For Dogs" there are stories and nursery rhymes.  The stories include:  The Three Little Pugs, Hans and Greta, Jackie and the Beanpole, Goldilocks and the The Three Cats, Red - Riding to the Dog Show, Snow White and the Seven Chihuahuas, CinderDane, and Princess and Peabody.

The nursery rhymes include:  Peter Peter, Little Miss Muffin, Jack and Jill, Humpty Dumpty, Three Small Dogs, Hickory Dickory Dog, and Angel Dogs.  Would you like a sample of one of the rhymes?

Hickory Dickory Dog, The mutt scratched in the fog.  The fog rolled out, He rubbed his snout. Hickory Dickory Dog.

I think I should take my leave now and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Learning To Get Along With My Laptop

November 14, 2019

Good morning.  It's gray, and only 16 F degrees outside.  We may get up to the low thirties later today.  Goodness, whatever happened to Autumn?

Well, yesterday was not much of a productive day for me.  But I figure that's okay.  I worked my whole life, so it's okay to have lots of lazy days now.  Company could not make it last night, so I popped a movie into my laptop.  Torch Song Trilogy is another of my favorite old movies.

I just might get to like this new laptop.  Especially now that I know it can play my DVD's.  Not that I have very many of them.  I don't.  My TV plays them too, but then I have to remember how to switch what to what and back again.  This used to be easy for me, but now my brain does not want to remember all this tecky stuff.

Tonight I might watch another DVD.  This one features the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts, and Bob Hope and Johnny Carson are being roasted.  It will be fun to watch all the old time celebrities.  Well, they are not "old time" to me, but most of today's young folks wouldn't even know any of them.

Last night I stepped on the scale to see how my weight is doing, and got quite a surprise.  It said that I have lost about seventy five pounds.  What??  There must be a mistake here.  I know I've lost a couple pounds because my jeans are getting too loose.  But there's no way I lost seventy five pounds.

I just went to re-check this, and guess what?  The batteries in the scale are dead.  Well, there's the problem.  Once I put new batteries in it, I'm sure my weight will go up.  I'll take care of this later when I've finished posting here.  I want to relish my new skinniness for a little while.

My Pogo is still asleep, all curled up beneath the warm orange blanket.  We both love this blanket.  It is so soft and warm.  I guess now, though, I'll have to put a couple of my other blankets in the Good Will bag.  I really did not need another blanket.  But, how can one pass up a beautiful fluffy, warm , orange one?  Did I mention that it is orange?  The Fates knew that I could not walk by this big splash  of beautiful color without picking it up and putting it in my basket.

Now it's time for me to do a bit of blog reading.  Before I go, let me leave you with this image that I borrowed from the web.  There's lots of folks complaining about the wildlife coming into their yards looking for food.  Just remember that this land was their home before man took it over to build more houses.

So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Our First Snow Of The Year

November 13, 2019

Good morning.  Tis a wee nit nippy this morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 18 F degrees.  Today's high is supposed to be around 31 F degrees. Guess who isn't going outside today.

Well, yesterday we had our first snowfall.  I'm just not ready for this stuff.  At least most of it disappeared quickly.  Here's a photo of the snow on some of the leaves on the ground in my driveway.   I have to say that it does look pretty against the various colors of the leaves.

And what did I do to while away the day?  I wrapped presents.  Two of my mailer boxes are now
finished and waiting to be taped up and labeled.  When I got tired of wrapping, I paid a few bills.  I just have to put the bills outside by the mail box to be picked up by the mail man.

After supper last night, I picked up the pink afghan and crocheted a few rows on it.  I'm trying to get it finished so that I can start on another one.  My grandson Trio is wanting one in his favorite colors, Red and Black.  While Audrey was here, we catalogued all my yarn.  I checked this list to see if I had any of these colors.  I do have the Red, but not the Black.  I'll be ordering some today.

While Audrey was here, she took this photo of one of our creative squirrels helping himself to some birdseed.  Even if they are pesky, they are fun to watch.

I just noticed that we never took my air conditioner out of the window.  I'll have to see if Joe can help me do this when he puts the screen covers on the porch.  It will help to keep the heat in and the cold out.

Today I'm going to make a pot of meat sauce and spaghetti.  DIL Janet may be coming by this evening, and I won't have to take time away from our visit to cook.  If I were smart, I'd cook enough meals for the next few days and put them in the freezer.  But I don't have enough energy to do this.  I do have the energy to cook one meal.  So be it.

Well, that's my news for today.  Before I go, let me post a chuckle to start your day.  This was borrowed from the web.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Brrr! Winter Temps Are Moving In

November 12, 2019

Good morning.  Tis gray outside and the temperature is 44 F degrees.  I just looked outside, and there is a layer of  wetness on my car's windshield.  According to my phone, temps should rise to 53 F degrees in just a few more minutes.  Then by noon, it should be raining with the temperature beginning to drop again.

By 3 p.m. temps should be down to 37 F degrees, and it should be snowing.  The snow should stop by 5 p.m., with temps still dropping.  By 3 a.m. temps should bottom out around 22 F degrees and stay there till around 10 a.m. tomorrow morning when it should get back up to 25 F degrees.  Winter doesn't begin until December 21 this year.   I wonder why Mother Nature doesn't know this.

Well, yesterday I did not stick to my plans.  (what else is new?)  Instead I was busy checking out a few things on my laptop.  I discovered that my CD drive also plays DVD's.  So I popped in a movie to see if it would play.  To my delight, it played.

Yankee Doodle Dandy is my all time favorite movie.  The dancing and singing is wonderful, and the songs are so joyous and uplifting.  I've probably watched this movie at least twenty times over the years, and every time I see it, it is still as wonderful as the first time I saw it.  Pogo wasn't into watching the movie again, so he took a nap .  (Something tells me that he likes this new blanket as much as I do.)

A package just arrived.  Oh goodie!  It's my new supply of Emergen-C Gummies for Immune Support, and Emergen-C Elderberry Gummies for Immune Support +.  I do what I can to stay healthy throughout the Winter so that I'm not sick when it is time to go to Florida.  Most of the time it works.

Pretty soon, we'll have to close up my little porch.  Joe said he would see about getting the screen covers up soon.  Once they go on, it helps to keep a lot of the cold from seeping into my part of the house.  I'll have to get some new plastic sheeting for the front of the porch.

Once the porch is closed up, I'll have to start my countdown till Spring.  In a way, it's sad.  As a little kid, I loved the Winter.  I had so much fun outside in the snow.  But as an old lady, I no longer enjoy the Winter's cold temps and wicked weather.

I guess a lot of folks' moods change when the cold temps move in.  One blog friend calls it "Seasonal Attitude Disorder."  I looked this up on Google and I found a site that explains it quite well.  It's actually called Seasonal Affective Disorder.  Just click on this if you want to check it out  It's really a good article.

Before I go, let me post another of Dover's beautiful coloring pages.  These are great stress relievers.  Enjoy it.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Today We Honor Our Veterans

November 11, 2019

Good morning.  Today is Veterans Day, a day to honor all those who have served.  My family tree is chock full of Veterans and covers every branch of the service.  Because of all our brave Veterans, we are able to enjoy our freedom.  God Bless each and every one of them.

Yesterday was rather quiet for Pogo and me.  I spent several hours going through lots of old photos.  My goodness, so many memories.  I still have lots more photos to go through.  There's one photo in particular that I'm looking for.  Hopefully I'll find it.

Tis gray outside right now with temps of 39F degrees.  My phone app says we may even hit 50F degrees later this afternoon.  And, you're not going to believe this, but my phone app says that tomorrow's high temp will be 59F degrees with SNOW.  Now I ask you, how is this possible?

For those of you who have bought a new laptop with Windows 10, and those of you are going to buy one, here's a tip if you are like me and want to use a mouse instead of the touch pad.  Fold a paper napkin and tape it over the touch pad.  It's easy to replace when it starts to get ratty.  I did this, and so far it seems to be working just fine for me.

On TV, they are showing the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.  It is 70 feet tall and is set up, ready to be decorated.  I think it's a shame to cut down this beautiful tree, and the number of lights that go on it is a shameful waste of energy.

I think a much smaller tree, maybe only twenty feet tall, and a sprinkling of lights on it would be quite beautiful and sufficient.  Why do they have to be so wasteful?  Not just them either.  Anyone who does this falls into this category of being wasteful.

The weather reports are forecasting wicked cold temps for us really soon.  This makes it difficult for me to go out because the freezing cold makes it hard for me to breathe.  Something tells me this is going to be a long cold Winter.

Today I'd like to start wrapping a few things.  All boxes needing to go in the mail should be ready to go out in about three weeks.  Yup, Christmas is right around the corner.  I keep telling myself that "today is the day to start wrapping" so I may as well do it today.  I know I'll feel better after I get it done.

Before I leave to do a bit of blog reading, let me share another cute kitty cat image that I borrowed from the web.  I hope it gives you a chuckle.

Now I'm off.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

It's Been A Wonderful Week

November 10, 2019

Good morning.  Tis an overcast day and the temp is up to...oh my gosh!  We're up to 42F degrees already!  Woo Hoo!   According to my phone app, we should even see 50F degrees for about an hour this afternoon.

Well, it's been an interesting weekend.  Friday, well I'm not sure what kept me busy all day, but something did.  Yesterday, Deanne, Eddie and Kevin took me out to a late lunch (or early supper).  Jasmine had to work so she could not join us.  The food was delicious and I had a great time.  It's been a fun and exciting Birthday week, and I've enjoyed it all so very much, thank you.

Speaking of Jasmine, there was a beautiful post about her on FaceBook this weekend.  I tried to copy it, but it would not copy.  I took screen shots so that I could share it here with you.  We are all so very proud of our Jazzy.

I guess my cropping of the screen shots isn't the greatest.  Hang in there though, I'm learning my way around Photoshop and Windows 10.  I'll get there one of these days.

On the way home from the restaurant yesterday, we stopped by Ocean State Job Lot.  They were running a special.  If you bought a winter jacket for $40 and paid for it, then gave it back to them, the jacket would be donated to a veteran and you would received a $40 gift card.  We each bought a jacket.  This was a win win.

While we were there, I found the most beautiful orange reversible mink/sherpa blanket.  You know I just had to have it.  It wasn't really mink, but it sure feels nice.  Pogo and I slept with it last night, and oh my, it felt so warm and comfy!

After we left the store, Eddie pulled the car over to the side of the road so that I could get a photo of the moon.  The sun was shining behind me, and in front of me there was a beautiful moon.  It was quite a distance away and I only had my phone with me, so this is the best shot I could get.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  I enjoy my visits to each of your blogs.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Touch Pad Woes

November 8, 2019

My goodness, I'm super late today.  I've just spent a couple hours trying to disable the touch pad on my laptop.  I use a mouse.  Up to now, I've been able to just go into the settings and disable it.  This morning my Windows updated again, and guess what?   I can't go in and disable the touch pad anymore.

I checked on Google how to do this, but nothing they offer can be used on my laptop.  I've tried everything.  Finally, I taped a paper napkin over the touch pad, and I hope this helps me.  That touch  pad can cause lots of problems when you are typing if you accidentally touch it.  (when you are using a mouse)

Well, I spent quite a bit of time yesterday morning on the phone with my friend MaryAnn.  She was teaching me how to get around in the Photoshop Cloud program.  Wowsie!  There is so much to learn about this newer version of Photoshop.  And learn I did!  Oh, believe me, there's much more to learn, but she showed me enough that I should be able to get around pretty good in this program.  If I have any questions, I'll just write them down, and then I'll call MaryAnn again.

This weekend, I'll try to make a new quick page.  Hopefully, my brain retained enough of what I learned and I'll be successful.  I really need to get back to using the creative side of my brain.

Today is sunny, but rather cool.  The temperature is 33F degrees, and that's about the high for today.  Tomorrow should get up to forty degrees, then maybe a couple days that make it to the fifties.  After that, it's back to freezing temps.  Well, that's what my phone app says.

I slept late this morning, so I don't know if any snowflakes fell in my area.  If they did, they did not leave any traces in my yard.  No, I'm not complaining, just noticing.  I remember one Thanksgiving, when I was very young, trudging through the snow to get to my aunt's house.  We took a bus most of the way, then  walked the rest of the way.  I don't remember the dinner, just the snow.

Here's an image that I borrowed from the web to share here.  I love the smell of oranges.  The cinnamon makes it smell like Fall.  As to Epstein, I have no idea what he has to do with this.

I also borrowed this next picture from the web.  I just couldn't resist it.  It's amazing how much easier it is to park a broom than to park a car.  I have two brooms parked on my porch and they hardly take up any room at all.

Deanne just sent me a text saying that they are going to take me out to a late lunch/early supper tomorrow.  Is this called a "lunper" or is it "suppunch?"  Hmmm, I'll have to look this one up on Google.  Either way, it will be a nice treat.

Before I take my leave, let me share one more image that I borrowed from the web.  I'm sure this pertains to most of us.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Old Man Winter Is Sneaking In

November 7. 2019

Good morning.  My phone app says that the sun is shining but I don't see it yet.  It also says that we will have temps today in the mid fifties.  Tomorrow, though, the twenties and thirties will be here to stay for two or three days.  Plus, some snow!  Yikes!  I'm not ready for Winter temps and weather.  Somehow, I don't think Old Man Winter cares what I think.

Well, there's not much to say about yesterday.  I did not do much of anything.  My breathing was not so good so I spent most of the day just being lazy.  I did, however, read a book.  And wow, what a book!  I could not put it down till I had read the whole thing.  It's titled "Across The Years" and was written by Tracie Peterson.

The mailman just came and brought a few packages.  Now there's three more gifts to wrap.  I'm getting there.   He also brought more junk mail for me to go through.  I guess that's one constant that never goes away.  I suppose the good part is that I'll always get mail from somewhere.  (Did I just say that?  I think my mind went on vacation and forgot to take me with it.)

A while ago, a friend posted this next image on their blog and I borrowed it to share here.  As we get older, there seem to be a lot more rainy days.  Playing in the puddles can turn a rainy day into a fun day.  Try it sometime.

I slept really late this morning and now I am way behind in doing the things that I wanted to do today.  Therefore I think I'll take my leave here and get started on this new day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

This Laptop Is Quite Frustrating!

November  6, 2019

Good morning.  You're not going to believe this, but I just finished typing my post and it all disappeared.  Poof!  Just like that.  I just can't re-type it all again, so this will be a short post.  I'm sorry about that but I just can't make myself get chatty all over again.

This new laptop is just too sensitive!  I'll be typing along and all of a sudden a menu shows up on my post and the machine starts typing on a different line, right in the middle of another sentence.  This keyboard has numbers and other stuff way over on the right side.  I don't like this, but it's the way the laptop was made.

There is a delete button (an extra one)  at the bottom right corner of these numbers.  I think my hand may have brushed up against this button.  I wish I could figure out a way to disable this part of the keyboard.  I don't use it, and it is definitely giving me a lot of grief.

One of the photos that I had posted was this one showing some of the leaves that the wind has blown up onto my porch.  I find all the shapes and colors very interesting.

The other photo that I had posted was one that I borrowed from the web.  I don't know who the doggie is or who the owner is, but this could be my little Pogo as a puppy.  It looks just like him!  I wonder if the puppy is related to my Pogo.  What do you think?

Now I'm going to make a fresh cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Pumpkins For Our Wildlife

November 5, 2019

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 46F degrees.  We may get up into the mid fifties later today.  It must have rained during the night because there is a puddle at the end of the driveway.

Well, yesterday was a lovely, laid back day for Pogo and me.   Although to see him laid out and snoring after supper, one would think that I had kept him busy all day.  I just had to take another photo of him.

On Halloween evening, once all the little kiddies had done their trick or treating, it was time for the big kiddos to have some fun.  I just had to share this photo of Deanne and Eddie in their party costumes.  Scary!

It makes me remember all the awesome costumes that Michael and I used to see every year when we would go to the Halloween Gala at a local club.  Ahh, memories!

I meant to buy a few small pumpkins this year, but I never did get to do it.  I had wanted to carve them a bit and then place them among the trees over in the side of my yard.  They are really good for the critters who live there.  Maybe I can still get some.  I'll have a look when I go to the market this week.

Here's another great way to use your pumpkins after Halloween goes by.  I borrowed this from the web.

Did you know that animals and birds love these pumpkins?  I didn't know it, and now that I do know it, I want to put some pumpkins out each year.  I wonder if turkeys like them.  Our turkey friends have returned now that the weather is cooling way down.  They were out in the yard a couple of times while Audrey was here and she got to take some nice photos.

While Audrey was here, we set some things aside for me to go through later at my leisure.  So today I will pick one or two of those things and do just that.  And while I'm doing that, I think I'll listen to some of my music on my new boom box.  Sounds like a great plan!

That's my news for today.  Now I'm off to read some blogs.  This is one morning habit that I really enjoy.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
