We're Making Progress

July 12, 2016

Good morning.  It's early, so it's still pretty cool outside.  The sun hasn't even woke up yet.  Ah, but in a few hours, the temps will be in the mid 80's.  So, I'm enjoying the morning coolness while it's here.  Ah, as I speak, the sun is just now peeking over the treetops.

In a little while, the work crew will be here again.  Yesterday, they did accomplish quite a bit.  Most all the roof shingles are on, and a lot of the screening is on.  The door to the screened in area is also installed, and a cement step was poured.  There's still plenty to keep them busy, but I'm hoping that they finish it today.  If not, one more day won't hurt me.

Here's a photo of the crew working, and a shot of the screen door.  The door has a pet screen on the bottom half so that pets can't scratch it and tear the screen.  Rather thoughtful.

While I was checking some of the potted plants, I noticed that the yellow lilies are spreading.  Instead of the one or two that I thought we had, there are a couple of big clumps.  Woo Hoo!  This is good!  They are such a happy color.

I think today will be a rather quiet lazy day for Pogo and me.  Aside from washing a few dishes and maybe running the vacuum a bit, we don't have any plans for today.  Watching the crew work keeps us pretty busy.  Speaking of the work crew, they have just arrived.  I need to get out there, because I have a couple questions for them.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hi Edna,
I am home and all is okay other than a few issues. The ulcer is healing but not as fast as hoped for so another 6 weeks of this medication. I am still really groggy. Oh and the drink wasn't that bad at all. It wasn't tasteless however and I did question my dr. about it. He said usually the pharmacy uses what is on hand. Mine was a mix between a cherry and strawberry. Mixed with a little sprite it was fine. Much better than I expected.

Look at that porch coming together! I think that it is a great idea about the bottom of the screen. It was also thoughtful. And the lilies are just gorgeous and really cheerful. Jonathan and I talked about what we would like to do with the patio. Since it looks like we are going to be here another year he and I decided to do a fall theme to the patio. Some pumpkins, gourds and mums with some hanging baskets. He was really interested in helping me plan it. Maybe there is some hope for my boy after all lol.

It was rather chilly this morning with a crisp breeze blowing. The humidity is low so that counts for a lot. I wore a long sleeved shirt this morning because it is usually chilly in the offices and was glad that I did because I had 3 blankets. I was freezing my hind end off! I wish the temps would stay nice and cool but the sun is already out and heating up.

I am ready for some sleep so I will catch up with you later on. So glad that your porch is coming together! Love Beth and Cisco

Hello you two! Been great reading about your escapades, seeing your flowers and the progress of your porch, that I am sure you are really going to enjoy! So happy for both of you! Been rather occupied lately with the ambush in Dallas (30 miles east of me) and doing some cleanup on my PC as my arthritic thumb will allow! Thanks for the OP too, love it! Wishing you a terrific day and will chat later, just wanted to say HI! Am heading out to pick up a few things then back to this AC, it is too humid for my likes, but that is July in TX...LOL! Hugs, Mat

That porch is looking great! You'll get so much enjoyment out of this during the remainder of the summer and then into the fall.

Oh the screened in porch is so sweet. I can not wait to see it all finished. I am not blogging as much as I want to. I just need some motivation. But I have been sitting down and writing my cards and letters for the Sheltering Group. If you ever have anyone needing some encouragement send me a private message and I will gladly add them to our list. Just name and mailing address and if they are ill, had a loss, need encouragement, etc. I am stunned at the number of hurting people. I have a friend in Oklahoma who is an EMT . I recently sent her a little encouragement card and some tea packets. It made her day. I have had several friends tell me that including my lifelong oldest friend Karen in Idaho! She said my letter and card was so touching. Sure made me smile. Considering the state of our world and especially our country I try to stay away from all the freaky weird and hateful thoughts and opinions at social media. My goodness, who cares who you vote for! Just do it privately. Someone said people should just be nice and explain why they dislike a candidate instead of the hateful bashing. It
is always the ones who feel their opinion is the only one that matters. Oh my!
I am getting too old for nonsense and I also am trying to free myself of too much stuff around me. It is hard because I am a big collector.
We have had the hottest weather, whewwwwwww.....but I was parked next to a vehicle yesterday that was a business vehicle stating "Snow removal". LOL! Not ready for all the white stuff either. Hee Hee Hee Hee!
Staying indoors a lot and sorting through old papers. My goodness do we have scattered papers stacked in boxes. Want to call a company who will pick them up and shred them so need to get that organized before winter comes back.
Sad world we live in and I worry about my hubby as he works on the 26th floor of a building downtown. I pray a lot!
Australia is having their winter and it is funny there is a terrific blogger who lives there and she posts lots of photos. Ah...one extreme and then another hot and cold. I would like a little in between. There is a bit of a breeze tonight. Feels nice. My hubby works until 9 tonight, filling in for a co worker who needed the day off and she works 3-10:30. He works 8 to 4:30 so will stay until 9. The overtime is good but he can not do too much of that stuff anymore. It is hard working so many hours as we get older. But he volunteers when he can. We have so much yard work and trying to humanely get these darn rabbits out of our lives. They eat all the good blooms from the flowers. Sigh!
Have a good week, always a good evening when I stop over to say hello. You and Pogo take care. xo

The guys are doing a great job with that porch!
Those lillies are cheerful of color! The only think I don;t like about lilies as well as irisses and gladiolus is that they bloom rather short and then you have a bunch of unorhanized leaves in the border LOL.
But after the flowers are gone, you can leave the leaves for some time, and as soon as they start to turn a bit brown you can cut them back.
Had kyself a rather lazy day yesterday, so today I should do a few things.
Also have to make a few appointments, one for my dental and a phonecall to the plumber.
Hope they aren;t on holiday yet.
Have a lovely day,
Hug
Kyra
