Things Are Looking Up Again

July 14, 2016

Good morning.  Today will be another warm one, but it is looking to be a bit cloudy.  At least at the moment.  This is good though, because Pogo and I have to take the car to the dealership for a regular check up and a new safety sticker.

On our way home, we have to stop at the hardware store for a tube of clear sealer.  Then we will come straight back home.  (Well, maybe we'll stop at McDonald's to pick up a burger for Pogo's lunch)  Last evening, SIL Eddie's friend Cliff came by to get rid of the hornet nest that is on the new porch.  He did a great job, and when he got the whole thing removed, he filled in the space where it was with wood.

Today, Cliff is coming by to do a couple more things around here for me.  While he is busy doing that, I will start setting things back on the porch ... chairs, table, potty patch, Pogo's little bed, etc.  Then I will take some new photos.  As soon as I get around to picking up the white paint, Joe will paint the wall of the house.  (That's the part of the house outside wall that is inside the porch.)

Last evening, while DIL Janet was here, I got a package from Amazon.  It was the movie that I had ordered (Torch Song Trilogy) and the bottle of "itch" shampoo that I had ordered for Pogo.  We watched the movie while we ate our supper.  It was good to see it again.

Around 3 a.m., Pogo started itching again, so off we went to the bathroom, and I gave him a nice bath with the new shampoo.  Plus, I gave him some Benedryl.  After that, he was able to sleep for a nice block of hours.  When we get home later today, I'll give him another bath with the new shampoo.  I have absolutely no idea what he is allergic to.

I found this cute image on the web and thought I'd like to share it with you.  Ever have one of those days when nothing seems to go right?   This is sort of how I felt once the porch was finished, and then we found the hornet nest.  Ah, but all is much better now.

I realized yesterday that I had not posted a new quick page for you, so I have one today.  Enjoy.

That's about all the news for this morning.  Some days it's pretty quiet around here.  But that is good.  Pogo and I are too old for constant excitement.  Would you believe, on his next birthday, Pogo and I will both be 77.  Where has all the time gone?

Ah well, now it's time for me to get dressed and ready to leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

You are not old until you reach 87. That is what I will be very soon. I am thankful for everyone of them.

Hi Edna,
So glad that the guys were able to get down that hornets nest and no one hurt in the process. Sounds like your about to have some enjoyable days ahead sitting on that porch looking out! I love it.

Thank you for the QP. I am going to try and use it for my grandkids. That is the plan. It is very pretty. I entered a couple of challenges over at one of my favorite hangouts, Daisy Trail. What a fantastic group of ladies and gentlemen that we have there. They have quiet a few challenges but I only entered into 2 of them. I might go back and do the one they have for this adorable bunny rabbit. We'll see. Right now I kind of have my hands full. I finished my last page for one of the girls with the mask. I can't put it out until July 20th when it hits the stores.

I am so tired today. Lack of sleep last night but I have my butter beans cooking and will make the cornbread later. If they want anything else they can find it in the fridge. Oh darn... I meant to put my ham in the beans and forgot and put bacon in. I guess that I can do both but probably will just leave them as they are.

Well I have some phone work that I need to do. Schedule my ride transportation so I guess that I will close for now. Hugs to you and Pogo and enjoy the new porch. We are supposed to have some rain. I will take it and enjoy it.. Love Beth and Cisco.

We live in a small city so houses are fairly close together. We hardly ever go on the east side of the house even though we are great friends with our neighbors.
Last year Jim had to tell us about the football sized hornets nest in the eavestrough/gutter of our house! My husband had to spray it a few times before the darn things pretty much died out or disappeared. Then he managed to take a big swat at the thing and it collapsed it a dry dusty heap.

Hornets seem to like it around here. They even tried to make a nest under our mailbox.

I really enjoy your writing, Miss Edna!

Thank you for sharing your days
