Rockin' With Dad

Good morning.  Tis another cold, sunny day here in New England.  Ah, but the morning is pretty nice.  Deanne and Eddie and I went to see the Holiday show last evening at the Paris Cabaret and it was such a fun show.  I did try to take as many videos as I could. 

For some reason, my phone is very sensitive and if I touch something the wrong way it stops videoing.  But I did manage to get some really nice videos.  I'll share one of them today, and I'll post some of them between now and Christmas. 

I did start uploading some of the videos to Facebook this morning.  However, my phone's battery ran out of juice.  I'll upload more of them as soon as I can.  Every now and then, a song needs a bit of audience participation so I really must share this video.  Every girl's best dancing partner is her Dad.  Enjoy!

 

Gosh, if you only knew what I go through trying to remember how to upload a video to this blog.  I swear, I really think my brains have gone on vacation without me!  I'll post more as soon as I can figure out how I'm supposed to do it.  I guess I'll just have to write my own "Dummie's How To Do It" paper so I won't keep forgetting.

Today I'm hoping to get a few boxes ready for mailing, and then I need to spend some time learning how to transfer videos from one media to another.  I remember when technology like this used to be so easy for me to do.  I guess when you get older the remembering part of the brain slows down somewhat.  (I say that to make myself feel better!)

Here Ducky Ducky!

Good afternoon.   Tis sunny and cold again today, but Pogo and I braved the cold this morning and went out to take Jazzy to the college.  After that, we headed for the kitty shelter.   Oh my, what a treat we were in for.  When we got there, we found the whole back yard filled with hundreds of ducks. 

Oh my, they were all so beautiful.  It seems that this wonderful lady, Lillian, and her hubby feed all the ducks from the nearby pond all during the cold weather.  How awesome is that!  I took a couple videos of the ducks,   Here is one of the videos showing all the ducks.  They've all come for their lunch.

The new CD that I bought came yesterday.  Here's the song that I bought it for.   It's called "My Wife."  I hope you enjoy it.  This is from Youtube.



Yesterday, Deanne came by after work and did a whole batch of wrapping for me.  Wowsie!   There's still a lot to go, but she made a huge dent in it.   Today I think I'll try to get all the wrapped items into mailing boxes.  Maybe I can even mail a few of them out by the first of the week.  Woo Hoo!

The burner guy came by yesterday and fixed the problem with the furnace.  However, he also discovered a new problem.  Oh no!  It's a BIGGIE.  It seems that somewhere in the house there is a pipe, or pipes, leaking down through the floors and into the basement.  So right away he started checking rooms to find the leaks.  He found it right away. 

Sadly, the nozzle on the radiator in the room that dwarf Helen has recently vacated had been broken off.  It had to have happened the night she moved out because there was no leak before that.  Because the room was closed, we did not spot the leak.  The floor was flooded with water, both large rugs were soaked, and the water was running to the (closed) fireplace and down into the basement. 

The burner guy fixed the leak, and later Joe cleaned up the mess when he got home from work.  Unfortunately, I also learned that I will have to be replacing a lot of the plumbing in the basement.  Aye yi, yi!   So now I'm waiting for the owner of the company to call me for an appointment to come over and give me an estimate.  Then I can try to figure out how to afford it.  Yup, when it rains, it pours!

Now it's time to make some lunch for Pogo and me.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Making New Friends

Good morning.  Tis sunny and cold here in New England.  What can I say?  I love the sunny part, but not the cold part.  The good part is that Spring is coming again in 104 more days.  In between now and then, we'll be busy with Christmas, the New Year and Valentine's Day.  Plus a two week vacation in sunny, warm Florida for Pogo and me.  We can do this!

Well, Pogo and I had plans to visit a kitty shelter this morning after dropping Jazzy off at the college.  However, the furnace has decided to act up, so I had to cancel our plans to stay home and wait for the burner guy to come out and take care of the furnace. 

Yesterday I responded to a request on Facebook for some old blankets and other supplies for a kitty shelter (Lilly's Kitty Shelter) that is just a few towns over from me.  While I was grocery shopping at WalMart, I picked up a big bag of kitty food, a large jar of kitty treats and some fleece blankets for the kitties to snuggle up in.  Today, I will dig out some of my older blankets and put them in the car with everything else. 

Tomorrow Pogo and I will take a ride out to meet the lady who runs the shelter.  We can hardly wait.  I spoke with the woman on the phone this morning, and it seems that the shelter had been ruined by the rain storms that we had earlier in the year, plus all the humidity and wetness made a lot of mold.  Everything had to be torn down and rebuilt.  It's not finished.  They are still in the process of rebuilding, and another shelter has been helping to take care of a lot of their cats. 

During our conversation, I learned that the woman and her hubby give to the same Indian schools that I donate to.  How about that for a coincidence?  I do believe I was meant to meet these folks.  Now I have a new charity to add to my list. The kitty shelter.  I love animals so this is awesome!

These next two photos were taken while visiting downtown.  I love all the colors and the trees.

And this last photo is the fountain outside the apartment building where Mac is staying.  It's titled "Fountain in Verny Park, Yokosuka, Japan."  Wowsie!  This is beautiful.  Mac, thanks for sharing all these beautiful photos. 

Daughter Deanne is coming by after work this afternoon to help me with some of my wrapping.  God Bless her, I really can use the help.  I don't know why I have such a problem with the wrapping.  The shopping and the making things was awesome fun. 

Oh boy, the mail carrier just came and brought me a small package.  It's the music CD that I ordered a few days ago.  It's called "My Wife, My Life" and is sung by Charlie Chase.  I just read the inside of the jacket and oh my, it's beautiful.  I'll try to take photos of it so that I can share it here tomorrow. 

Now I think I'll do some blog reading and then scrounge up some lunch for me and Pogo.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Am Early Start Today

Good morning.  It's only 6:23 a.m. and I've been up since five o'clock.  I was snoozing away, toasty and comfy, and my little Pogo was scratching away at me to wake me up.  I tried my best to ignore him, but he would not stop.  My brain finally kicked into "awake" mode and I put the light on. 

Thank goodness.  My poor little guy had been woke up with a rumbling tummy, and tried his best to run to his pee pads.  Alas, he only made it about two feet from his little sofa.  Yup, on the rug!  So he was trying to wake me up so that I could clean it up before it was too late. 

Fifteen minutes later, all was cleaned up.  I gave him a big hug for waking me up and then we played for a while.  Of course, now I'm wide awake.  Actually, I've been able to clean up a lot of my old emails.  I've also downloaded some photos from my phone to crop and share. 

My SIL Mac (Audrey's hubby) has been in Japan working on a ship.  He'll be there till the end of next March.  Here are some photos he has sent home of him at work and a nice photo of the ship, the USS JOHN S. Mc CAIN.

Mac is quite good at photography, and took this beautiful photo of Mt. Fuji.  Wow, this is beautiful!

Yesterday I decided to wait until today to do my grocery shopping.  So, on the way home later this morning from taking Jazzy to her classes, I'm going to stop at WalMart to do some shopping and pick up my meds.  I keep missing the mail carrier, so today I'll also swing by the Post Office to mail out my bills. 

Once the groceries are put away, I'll have to think about what to make for tonight's supper.  DIL Janet will be coming by after work.  I'm sort of leaning toward Stouffers Baked Macaroni and Cheese.  This is one of our favorites.  Well, that's settled.  Now I just have to think of something for dessert.   Maybe I'll get some ideas while I'm at the market.

106 More Days Till Spring 2019

Good morning.  Tis looking really nice outside, but the temperature is only thirty three degrees F.  It should warm up two more degrees before long.  Brrr, feels like Winter.  Tonight's temps will drop to twenty degrees.  I'm glad my porch covers are on because it helps to keep it warmer in here. 

Gosh, I'm sitting here trying to think of what I did yesterday, but nothing special is coming to mind.  Ever have days like that?  I seem to have a lot of them now.  I had wanted to go to WalMart and pick up my meds and do some grocery shopping but my meds weren't ready for pick up.  So, hopefully I can do this later today. 

Cliff was going to be coming by this morning, but now he'll be by tomorrow morning instead.  No problem.  Right now I'm laughing.  Pogo is sitting near me on the sofa, trying to figure out how to get my hands off the laptop and over to patting his little head.  If I ignore him, he'll put his little face down into his blanket and pretend to go to sleep.  I guess this is supposed to put a guilt trip on me.  You know what?  It works!

My friend Beth has a program in her cell phone that lets her make digital art from photos.  Here are three of the ones she recently sent to me. 

Beth, these are beautiful.  Thank you, I love them.  I'm going to have to look into this program to see how it works.  It looks like it's a lot of fun.

I'm not doing very well with my wrapping.  There are a million reasons I can come up with to let it wait another day.  The procrastinator in me is taking over.  Unfortunately, there is a mailing deadline if I want packages to get places on time.  I really must find me some energy.  (and an attitude change)

I guess it's time to start counting down the days till Spring.  I just Googled the question "how many days till Spring 2019?"  You won't believe the answers I got.  One site says 87 more days, another says 107, still another says 92 and yet another says 105.  I don't have time to read all of them right now but how can this be?  I just counted the days on my calendar and it comes out to 106 more days till Spring 2019

Ah well, I think I'd best get busy here and try to get a few things done before I leave to pick up Jazzy.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Bloggie Is Playing Games Again!

Good afternoon.  I don't know what happened, but I had a good portion of this post typed and then Bloggie erased the whole thing.  What's that about?? 

I'll try to condense:  This morning, sunny with temps in fifties.  Noon, cloudy with a breeze and temps cooling down a bit.  The rest of the week will be thirties during the day and twenties during the night. 

Here's the December page from my calendar.  I just love this picture of my little Pogo.  I had it done on canvas and it is hanging on my wall.  Next month I'll start posting pages from the new calendar. 

After dropping Jazzy off at the college this morning, Pogo and I went to the bank.  While sitting at a red light downtown, I took this photo of the beautiful clouds against the gorgeous blue sky. 

Deanne just called to say that she can pick up Jazzy so I guess I can change into my lounging jammies.  Just before the phone rang, the UPS fellow delivered two boxes to my porch.  Oh my goodness, there's so much happening all at once.  It must be getting close to Christmas Day.

Actually, there's only twenty three more days till Christmas Day.  Wowsie!  How quickly the time has flown by.  It seems like just yesterday we still had a couple of months to get ready for the holidays. 

Cliff came by this morning to clean out some of my gutters.  He also put the heavy plastic over the front of my porch.  He'll be back maybe tomorrow with some lighter plastic for the part of my porch right outside my door.  I think come Spring time I'd like to have new screen covers made of clear plastic for the front section of my porch.  I can't really see much of my yard once this heavy duty stuff gets put up. 

When I picked Jazzy up this morning, she gave me a new mug from the Paris Cabaret.  I love mugs, and this one is special because she is a Starliner at the Cabaret.   There's even peppermint candies inside the mug.  Thank you Jazzy.  I love it.

This morning I tried to put the cover back on Pogo's car seat, but the hooks that hold the chair in place were not to be seen so I could not do it.  Pogo had to ride in the front seat.  He doesn't mind, but I worry that it's not safe for him to be on the front seat in case of an accident. 

So far, I've been very lucky.  I've been driving for sixty four years and I have a clean driving record.  No marks on it at all.  I take that back.  Once, back in the early eighties, I got a speeding ticket for going five miles over the limit.  All the cars were flying by me but the cop stopped me.  I asked him why he stopped me and not one of the cars that were really flying and he said "Because I could."  Hmmm, lesson learned.  (always watch the speed limit signs) (and keep an eye out for a police car that might be hiding near by!)

Okay, enough of my babble.  I have lots to do today so I'd best get going.  First, I want to read a few blogs then it's off to find some mischief.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUDREY

Good morning.  Today temps are up a bit but it has been raining for hours.  There are big puddles everywhere.  Not complaining though, all our reservoirs and ponds are super happy right now. 

Yesterday was my daughter Audrey's birthday.  Early in the morning, she and her best friend headed out for a morning of making stained glass.  They travel a couple hours to get there but it is definitely worth it.  Last night, she had a lot of girl friends over for a sleep over fun party.  Awesome!  Audrey, I wish you many more years of beautiful birthdays.  Happy Birthday sweetie, I love you.

Well, yesterday was busy.  Pogo and I started out by going to the Post Office to mail out a Christmas box.  Then we went to the UPS store to mail another box.  On the way home, we picked up some lunch at McDonalds.  We got lunch for Joe too because he was at home raking up tons of leaves.

Just as we got home, Pogo had a bit of a potty problem in his car seat.  Oh oh!  I set him on the ground and Joe watched him until I could take my things into the house and remove my jacket.  Then I picked up my little guy and put him in the bathroom sink for a nice warm bath.  Meanwhile, Joe got the blanket from inside the car seat and the car seat cover and set them on the washer for me. 

After the bath, it was time to have our lunch.  I'm so glad I picked it up because now I was too pooped out (pardon the pun) to make a lunch.  After lunch, it was time to start the laundry.  Three loads in all.  I saved the last load for today. 

While I was busy doing laundry, Joe put up the Christmas tree and decorated it.  It's beginning to look a bit like Christmas around here now.  I was going to do a bit more wrapping and packing but I decided to let it go until today. 

Right now, my little Pogo is lying next to me, snoring away.  I have to say that it sounds just as pretty as a Christmas Carol.  I really have to remember to call his groomer this week.  My little guy is looking like the Lion King again.  I may only have his hair trimmed a bit.  I don't want him to catch a cold.

I've been watching QVC this morning, and they have a great buy on the Amazon Echo, 2nd generation.  You get two of them for the price of one.  Plus you get a few extras.  They've been demonstrating all the ways you can use the Echo.  Hmm, I'll have to think about this one.

I have a couple more fun tee shirt sayings to share today.  I don't buy the shirts but I love seeing all the different funny sayings. 

QVC is now showing the Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote.  You can either buy one or two for a very good price.  I did order two of these a few months ago, and I gave one of them to my daughter Deanne.  But now I want an extra one so that I can take it with me when I go to Florida.  I don't really want to be taking the one that's already hooked to my TV. 

When I get the computer room cleaned out and set up, I can use this second one on the TV in there.  Meanwhile, I can watch a lot of wonderful programs while I'm on vacation.  Even though cable is set up at the Florida condo, there are only a few channels to choose from.
