Oh Boy! No New Snow This Morning!

January 9, 2010

This morning is sunny and cold. Sometime during the night, the snow stopped falling. Thank goodness it was just a light snow or we'd be snowbound. Yesterday, the snow stopped for a while and all the little birds and squirrels were scurrying to get food before the snow started up again. So I did manage to get a batch of photos. Now I just have to get them into Photoshop and crop them.

My cold is at that yucky stage. You know, when you try to blow your nose and your eyes fill up with water? First you can't breath, and then you can't see. Gosh! Just a barrel of fun! Florida is starting to look awful good to me right about now!

Yesterday was a long day for me. After work, I had to do some neglected, but important, errands. You know, like pick up meds, buy dog food, put money in bank. I also picked up a couple of expensive magazines as a treat for myself. Some of my photography and Photoshop magazines are published in the UK and are very expensive. I'll have to check to see if the pages are edged in gold! My one subscription from there has gone from $85 a year to well over $100 to renew it. Gosh, and I was considering subscribing to a couple of others! I don't think so, Edna!

As I sit here typing, I am looking over at another photo opportunity that I quite overlooked. My daughter in law, Janet, finds these delightful musical toys every year at Christmas time. This year's is -- well, that's for another post. I'll take some photos of it today to share another time.

Here are some of yesterday's photos. And naturally, they are all of the little birds out in the backyard feeding, and in the trees and bushes nearby.

You can see in this last photo, that the snow has started up again. I have to say that it does make a beautiful background for photos.

Well, now I'm in need of a glass of juice (need lots of vitamin C now), and Tootsie is wanting a bit of attention too. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a grand day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KYRA

January 8, 2010

Morning everybody. I'm at work this morning and only have a few minutes to post here while Mrs. is still sleeping. My cold is taking it's time leaving, so I haven't been spending much time on the computer.

First thing on the agenda, let's all wish my good friend, Kyra, a very Happy Birthday. Kyra, I hope your day is beautiful, and filled with sunshine and happiness.

I'm hearing that we have more snow coming sometime today. Gosh, I just can't wait for it!!! If I could, I'd box it all up and send it to Snowy. She really does love the snow. But then she's only 42. I liked it much better when I was 42 too.
*
I am watching the birds feeding outside the window here. There is a forsythia bush in the back yard, and there must be twenty little birds in it. You know, I never tire of watching these birds. I just left for a minute to get my camera and set it up on the counter near the window. You never know when a photo opportunity will pop up.
*
I do have a couple of photos to share this morning. The first one is Tootsie, sitting on the end of the bed waiting for her night time snack. She is surrounded by her fuzzy blankets and lots of stuffed animals. Even when her hair is messy, she is just beautiful.
*

This next photo is just a cutie. Moo loves to play with the toy slot machines that are filled with plush toys at Walmart. And he's good at it too!! He got me the little pink dog in the middle at Christmas, and the pink dog on the right from a couple of nights ago. The little pink poodle on the left belongs to Tootsie. They look so cute sitting together on the back of the sofa. Don't you think so? Do we girls ever outgrow this fondness for stuffed toys?
*

Well, it's time for me to get to work here. Y'all stay warm and well, and have a great day.

January 7, 2009

Today's post will be very short. My cold is getting to me, and I am going to lay low for a bit. I did manage to get a couple of photos yesterday, but they can wait till another day. If I can manage to get out and pick up our prescriptions, I will. If not, that will just get tacked on to tomorrow's list of what has to be done.

It's just a little cold, so not to worry. Till tomorrow, stay warm, and stay well. Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Only 74 Days Till Spring

January 6, 2009

Br-r-r-r! It's just bit nippy this morning. I hear the heat coming up from the furnace, but where does it all go? I won't say that it's a bit cool in my house, but when you make a cup of coffee, you have to gobble it up right away or it is cold. Nothing tastes as good as cold "hot" coffee. YUK!

I just had to go put my "snuggler" on. Boy, that sure helps! I hate to wish away any time, but I sure could use some Springtime right about now. I am not a snow bunny and I don't do skiing. So after the prettiness of the first snows, I have had all I need of the white stuff. Now I need warm, sunny, and flowers. Dream on Edna.

This morning folks, I do not have a photo. Until the weather changes, there is not much outside my door to photograph. I will get some this afternoon when I go out to the store. This is where the hard part of my project comes in. When it is cold out, I just don't want to go out unless I absolutely have to. So the photos can be hard to come by at times.

I did however, work on a couple of challenges. And I turned one of them into a freebie QP for you. The brush challenge was of a Valentine's theme, so that will be your freebie today. The other challenge was the "My Favorites" challenge and this month it is about books.
*
My favorite author is Rosamunde Pilcher. And I think my two most favorite books are her "September" and "Shell Seekers." All of her books are hard to put down until you are finished reading them. Another wonderful author is her son, Robin Pilcher. So here is my layout for the Favorites challenge.

How about an update on Howie? His antics have been getting more and more difficult to handle, especially during the night when it is quiet and everyone is asleep. So now his doctor has given him something to help him to relax and sleep through the night, and it seems to be helping quite a lot. Maybe now poor Moo can get some good winks during the night.
*
How about we talk a bit about food. Some foods, I just love! Pasta is right up there at the top of the list! But like so many others, sometimes I tend to overdo it. I know I could stand to lose a few pounds, but I just can't live on rabbit food and raw carrots.
*
Now there is someone who is very good at putting together healthy, satisfying meals, and still keep within your dietary limits. You should have a look at The Chronicles of Nani. Her meals are delicious and low cal, and you can visit her @ http://chroniclesofnani.blogspot.com/. If you need a little inspiration to help you stick to your diet, this is the place to go.
*
The heating oil man is here now so I have to leave to pay him. Enjoy your freebie, and Y'all have a great day now.

Hugs, Edna B.

Even Gray Days Can Be Beautiful

January 5, 2010

Oh boy, I looked outside this morning, and guess what? There was still no new snow, and you could actually see patches of the ground showing through, as you can in today's photo #1. Glory be!!

Never thought a photo of the ground could look so good!!!!

This new project of taking photos every day is not going to be such an easy thing to do. I will try, but I may have to reword it to say "almost every day." Some days there is just not much around to take a photo of. Some people don't like to have their pictures taken, and you can only enjoy looking at just so much snow. But I will try.
*
I'm a bit late today, but I have other things on my PC that needed tending and they take a bit of time. So that is what I did this morning, as well as put in a load of laundry..............
*
I just had to take a short break to get my clothes out of the dryer so that Moo can finish his laundry. So many things keep getting in the way of my playing on this PC. LOL. Next thing you, the dishes in the kitchen sink are going to want to be washed too! Ah well, I shall wash them and pick up a bit here, then it's playtime for Bonzo here.
*
Today's picture #2 is my little Tootsie. She is attempting to see what the sounds are outside our door. She cannot see them, but there are little birds out there feeding and chirping.
*
The mail has just come, and it brought some straggler Christmas cards. What a lovely thing to bring me on such a gray day. They were from two of my grandchildren and one great grandchild. And there was a picture included for me which I shall have to scrap and share here. See? Another beautiful day for me.
*
Now I shall get busy and see about doing some of the new challenges for this month. I am psyching myself up to finish as much as I can before it is time for me to go on vacation to sunny
Florida. Only seven and a half more weeks to blissful warm weather and sunshine. Ah-h-h-h! Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

We're Having A White-Out!

January 3, 2010

Oh boy!!! The white stuff is still falling, and even though the plow came through last night, it looks like we got another six inches or so. And no, it has not stopped yet. Almost all the dwarfs went outside with Moo this morning to shovel it all up. You know, it's nice to see them all get together to help each other. That's just another thing I am thankful for. We have a pretty nice group here.

I am on day three of my "Photo A Day" project. So far, they all look pretty much the same. Snow, snow and more snow. Somehow I think tomorrow's photos will be looking much the same too. Here are a few that I took this morning.

This is the view from outside my door.
Here are a couple of photos showing Moo and some of the dwarfs shoveling up the snow. You can see that the snow is still falling.
Now they are all back in the house having a nice hot cup of coffee. Our house sounds good this morning. Lots of chatter and laughter. Even Howie seems to be behaving fairly well. (Shhh, I hope he didn't hear me say that!) Soon they will all be reading their favorite parts of the Sunday newspaper that I just took out to them.
*
Today's paper had an article about town meetings, and how they are fading away into the sunset. Our town held it's last town meeting this past December 16 with a ceremonial session, with people in full costume depicting our first town meeting 216 years ago.
*
Sad to say, but progress seems to come at a costly price. We have to give up so much in order to move forward. Must be me, I don't really understand it all. Here is a copy of the photo that was in the paper showing the reenactment meeting last month.
*
I stopped by Snowy's blog this morning, only to find her getting ready to rip someone's hair out. Either that, or maybe turn someone into a rather homely frog, warts and all. Way to go girl!!!!
*
And guess what else? Tomorrow is her birthday. So don't forget to stop by and wish her a Happy Birthday! Just click on her link here, and it will take you right over to her place. http://silversnowyraven.blogspot.com/.
*
Tonight is a working night. Ugh!! I just want to curl up in my bed where it is warm until this cold and stuffy nose is gone. Ah well, there's no rest for the weary. Tonight, I shall see about working on a freebie for you. Till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a marvelous day.

Oh Goodie! More Snow!

January 2, 2010

Guess what the weatherman brought us through the night and this morning? Oh Boy!! You'll never guess!! Yup - MORE SNOW!! We just can't get away from that stuff. Moo is outdoors with a few of the dwarfs shoveling most of it up. We just don't have many more places to put the stuff!

I'm watching the weather channel on TV, and they are saying that this snow will still be falling right through today, tomorrow and Monday. Then they are forecasting more snow for Friday. Hey Rhoda!! Aren't you glad you don't live up here anymore??? Do you miss all this shoveling?? Alas, my friend Rhoda is lazing about in the warm sunshine in Florida, and missing all this beautiful??? white stuff.

I have started a new folder on my computer for my "Daily Photos" for this new year, and now have two days worth of photos. This is going to be a fun resolution to keep. Although I may not feel that way when I am tucked into my bed with a nasty cold or flu.

Moo, Howie and I went for our H1N1 flu shots yesterday. However, I could not have one because my nose was sniffly, and the nurse said that the shot would make me really sick. So if my nose is nice and clear next week, I can go back and try again. Lucky for Moo and Howie, they got their shots.

Before I get into showing photos, I want to congratulate Moo. He's up to, I think, about 55 days of not smoking. Just put the ciggs in a drawer and walked away. CONGRATULATIONS, MOO!!

Now for the 2010 photos. Yesterday, there were a lot of little birds in the backyard at work. Here are just a few of them.

And here is one for today. This is what it looked like outside my door when I got up this morning.
*
Now I think it is time for me to get dressed and maybe do a bit of housework (UGH! UGH!) Then I can play on my computer. Y'all have a fantastic day now.
