August 14, 2013
Good morning. It's quite lovely outside today, sunny and cool (mid 70's). This is perfect weather for year round. It's also good for my energy level. I've actually managed to get a few little things done.
It's too early to say, but I think that the new medicine may be helping. My blood pressure is reading lower and my pulse is higher. The pulse was really quite low. The good part is that I feel a bit better too. There's hope for this old coot yet.
Yesterday I saw my orthopedic doctor for a regular check up. This was a good appointment. Now I am all set with him until Winter.
Have you seen the advertisements for the new Nokia Lumina 1020 smart phone? How is it that a cell phone camera can have 40 megapixels and a DSLR has around 18 to 21 mp's? I could be tempted to buy this cell phone, but the cheapest service you can get with it is $100 a month. This is absurd!! I would only be making phone calls or taking photos with the phone. So for this much money, I'll just keep carrying my DSLR with me for free.
Last night I went through some of my files to set aside some freebies, which I will try to start posting later this week. I also want to make some new ones, just to keep the creative side of my brain working.
This morning, Pogo and I will be going out to get a couple of errands done. Maybe on our way back we can stop by the park for a while. This will be nice because we haven't been there in a while. Speaking of the park, here's a pretty photo I took of one of the plants growing along the edge of the pond.
I also have a photo of one of the beautiful butterflies that have been attracted to the bushes in my garden.
Now it's time to get dressed and get outdoors to enjoy some of this fabulous weather. So till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Edna B.

An Unexpected Cleaning Binge
August 13, 2013
Well good morning, even if it is getting close to noon time. I enjoyed a really nice long sleep in this morning. And it felt soooooo good.
I need to start cleaning out my laptop and all my scrapbook design files. So I'm going to start posting some of the older freebies that are being retired, along with a lot of new stuff that I've been saving. My laptop now takes so long to start up that I can make a cup of coffee while I'm waiting for it to get going. I think that means that the hard drive is getting full.
Folks, your not going to believe this. It is now two hours later (since I started typing this post) and I'm finally getting back to it. Pogo started barking and running from door to door, so I got up to check this out. There was no one and nothing outside and he settled down.
Then I noticed a magazine on my book shelf and for some reason picked it up. This led to checking everything else on that one shelf. It seemed to be a catchall for lots of things. Now, two hours later, I have a neater shelf, a big stack of "shred-ables" and a large pile of magazines and catalogues for the recycle bin.
I also found one of the software disks that I was looking for to share with one of the dwarfs, and the installation disk for a printer that I had given to my daughter in law. So, all in all it was a good break in time.
How about some "buggy" photos today. These first two are moths (or tiny butterflies) from the garden, and the last is a very busy bee covered with lots of pollen from the white butterfly bush.

Yesterday I went for my doctor appointment, and he has started me on a new blood pressure medicine. I will go back next week to see if it is helping. Today I will go see the orthopedic doctor for my regular follow up visit. I like to get all these appointments taken care of around the same time, then I'm done for a while.
Now it's time to rustle up some lunch for my little guy. He's had such a busy day running from one end of the house to the other making sure that all is well. So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Country Signs
August 12, 2013,
Good morning. It's quite cloudy and cool outside at the moment, but it is still early, only 6:20 a.m. I'll be packing up my things and going home soon. Gosh, about an hour ago, it sounded like one hundred airplanes passing by overhead. I went outside to look, but could not see anything through all the clouds. I did get a few nice photos of the clouds.
These clouds are moving quickly, so hopefully it will turn out to be another gorgeous day here in New England. But, if it rains, well so be it. The grass and the gardens will be happy.
Later today I will do a couple of errands while I am out. I really must get to the post office and mail a very late birthday gift. Gosh, I am so bad lately.
Today is also Mandarin Orange Monday, and I have a tasty photo to share of my tomato plant. I am getting a beautiful bumper crop this year from just one plant. My tomatoes are the "grape" tomatoes, while Joe's plant is the big round tomatoes. Aren't these beautiful?
I've been wanting to try a bit of street photography, but I guess a lot of it has to do with what the photographers' eye sees. Plus the geography also plays a part. These are a couple of interesting signs that caught my eye yesterday, and I turned my car around and went back to photograph them.
I don't have much news for this morning, and it is time to be checking on the Mrs again. In about twenty five minutes, I will be on my way home to Pogo. So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Edna B.

It's A Beautiful Morning
August 11, 2013
Good morning. It's just beautiful outside today. The sun is shining, and at the moment the temperature is simply devine, mid 70's with a nice little breeze. It's a perfect day for being outside with a camera, but alas, I will be indoors doing a laundry and then getting a nap.
I will take a walk around the yard for a bit while the laundry is washing though. Maybe Joe will mow the grass today. It's getting tall and Pogo is beginning to get lost in it.
Today I'm feeling a speck better than yesterday, but that's to be expected. Whenever you go to the doctor or the dentist, the part that was hurting is magically all better. It makes it difficult to say where the hurt is. As soon as you leave their office and go home your ache returns. Go figure.
This weeks photo challenge in the Photography Plus forum this week is things that can move, so I chose these two photos to share. The first one is the rain hitting the shed roof this past Friday, and the second one shows some surprise movement in the morning fog.
How about a photo of a golden finch. This one is enjoying a snack at the Mrs' bird feeder.
And here's a fun photo. It's not a great photo, but I thought it was sort of cute. I did sharpen it up so that you could make out what the little fellow was doing. I think he's looking for a place to hide some of his food. Or maybe just a place to take a nap?
Enough of my chatter. It's time to gather up the laundry and get it started. Then Pogo and I shall take a little stroll around the yard. So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Sea Salt vs Regular Salt
Good afternoon. Needless to say, I slept in very late this morning. I'm owing Pogo big time because he should be outside playing and running around instead of having so much quiet time. Hopefully we'll be able to find out soon what my problem is. I managed to move my doctor appointment up to this Monday afternoon.
Today I'm just going to post a few photos, but first I want to thank Donna for her helpful tip about sea salt. I don't use salt in my cooking or on my food, and thought I would use sea salt in its place. It's a good thing that I only used it a few times because it has the same properties as regular salt. I checked it out on Google. Surprise, surprise. Thanks, Donna.
This first photo comes from my daughter's facebook page. What can I say? The photo says it all. Our fur babies love us with their whole heart.
Now I'm going to ask Joe to take Pogo outside for a little while, and then I will snuggle in to my lounge chair. I'm saving my energy for work tonight. I would call out but we really don't have enough people to fill in for us right now. So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

These next photos we taken at our local park. I call the first one "Getting all my ducks (I know, they are geese.) in a row." The second shot is just an interesting shot of the geese flying, and the last one is a few of the cute ducks that I couldn't resist photographing.

Just A Short Post
August 9. 2013
Good morning. Tis a bit gray and quite comfy outside at the moment, but I'm sure that will change in a few hours. I'm at work so this will be a short post. Mrs is already awake and enjoying her breakfast.
Here's a couple of photos that I took of a happy duck bathing in the pond at our park. It's such a joy to watch the ducks and geese as they splash and play and enjoy themselves.
I will have to finish up here and tend to the Mrs, but first let me share with you the gorgeous scrap page that Kyra made for me of that wonderful photo of my SIL Edie. Kyra, thank you, thank you! I just love it!
Much as I hate to rush and run, I really must go. Mrs is wanting to get bathed and dressed. So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fabulous day.

It's Good To See The Rain Today
August 8, 2013
Good morning. Yeahhhhhh! It's raining. Do I sound like a nut for being happy to see the rain? Well, one of my knees has been so painful lately, and now that the rain has come it has washed away most of the pain. Mind you, I don't need days of flood waters, just enough rain to make some puddles and get everything wet.
After daughter in law left last night, I took my tablet and Pogo and crawled into bed. I watched a bit of TV, read a few more chapters in the book that I am currently reading, and then fell asleep. Most of the night was "wake" and "doze", "wake" and "doze".
I finally got up around 6 a.m. and made some green peppers and scrambled eggs for myself and Pogo. Mmm, mmm. Very tasty indeed. I've been watching the Jewelry Television Channel while enjoying my breakfast. This morning they are featuring Bella Luce (Man made diamonds). Some of it is so pretty, while some of it is so busy that it is quite unattractive.
A few weeks ago, I treated myself to one of these rings. I may not like busy, but I do like big. Not huge, just big. Well, here, you can see for yourself.
I remember the days when the only gems that I could afford were so tiny that you needed a magnifying glass to see them. Then one day I decided that I deserved the nice big jewels. However, some of them were very pricey, so I took up jewelry making. This way I could afford to have my nice big gemstones. I don't do it so much anymore, but it was a lot of fun.
I have another beautiful scrapbook page from Kyra. This one features the photo of Pogo next to the big white lily. Thank you so much, Kyra. I feel so special, and spoiled. (But I just love it!)
I also have another photo to share with you. This one is of someone who is so very special to me. She's like a sister to me and I love her dearly. Who is this? Why, my sister in law, Edie, of course. Isn't she just beautiful? When Edie smiles, the whole room lights up. If you're reading this Edie, I love you girlie!
Okay, enough of my babble. I'm beginning to wilt so I think I'll go back to bed for a while. I have to say that the one good perk of being an "Oldie" means that I can go to bed anytime I want to. Well, most of the time. So on that note, I'll be off. Till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.
