Good morning. Today we say farewell to this beautiful month of August. Hopefully, the super weather will stick around for another few weeks. After all, it is still Summer. Well, I'm a bit late in posting this morning but that's because I added a new page to my blog.
I've had a request for the afghan pattern that I've been using. It's an easy pattern and it looks beautiful. So, if you look in the right side column near the top of the page, you'll find a link for the page "Patterns." Any other requests, let me know and I'll try to publish other pattern requests on this new page.
Please note that I added the yarn requirements for both the double strand and the single strand, along with the different brand yarns. I also added the pattern (color) arrangements that I've used. Have fun.
Yesterday the new box of yarn arrived, and of course I just had to play with some of it. Here's a photo of one of the yarns called "Cactus" and one of the dolly dresses made with it. I just love this one.
This is another dolly dress that I'm working on. This one is "Flamingo." Another gorgeous color!
Of course, the dresses aren't finished yet. I still have to put the embellishments on them. I had to order a few more dollies though. When they arrived, I'll put the dresses on the dolls and then finish the embellishments. After that, I'll take new photos. These little dollies are soooo cute!
Last night, DIL Janet was here and she brought some delicious dessert goodies with her. The little cupcakes are so yummy! Plus there was carrot cake and strawberry shortcake cake. We both ate the strawberry shortcake cake first. Ooooooooh!!!!! So yummy! I saved my carrot cake for later, and this morning I had one of scrumptious little cupcakes for breakfast. (We only do this once in a while, maybe once every four to six weeks)
Pogo surprised us by eating his doggie food and asking for more. Wow! Will wonders never cease! He also had a plate of doggie food for breakfast this morning. God bless his little heart!! Pretty soon, I'll have to start thinking about what Santa can bring for Pogo this year. He has so much, that it's hard to think up something new.
Maybe this year, instead of getting presents, I'll let Pogo go shopping and buy presents for a lot of doggies (and kitties) at a local shelter. I'll have to make a few calls to see how many toys Pogo will have to buy.
Today I have a new quick page for you. This one might be fun for some of your photos taken by the seashore. Enjoy.

I also have an image that I borrowed from the web to share with you. I just thought this was such a fun image, and so very much like the "Maxine" attitude.
Well, now it's time for a fresh cup of coffee while I think about what sort of mischief Pogo and I can get into today. So till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Belated Birthday, Kevin
August 30, 2017
Good morning. Sorry for not being here yesterday, but I had a morning appointment with my orthopedic doctor and did a couple errands on the way home. By the time I was able to sit down and type it was already mid afternoon and my arm was aching.
My right shoulder has been rather painful for the past few weeks, and I needed to find out why. According to my doctor, along with arthritis, I have Bursitis, tendonitis and impingement syndrome in my shoulder. Impingement syndrome occurs when the rotator cuff tendons rub against the roof of the shoulder joint. Well goodie goodie for me!
It seems that all the repetitive use (crocheting, etc) has not been kind to my shoulder. I ended up getting a cortisone shot in my shoulder. OUCH!! I am such a baby when it comes to needles! If the pain doesn't go away, I have another appointment in three weeks. I need to take more breaks while I'm crocheting, and do more arm exercises every so often during the day.
Well, my bad! It was Kevin's birthday a couple days ago, and it slipped right by me. I am getting so bad at remembering birthdays and anniversaries. Kevin, I hope your special day was awesome. Happy Birthday sweetie. I love you. Here's a birthday layout that Deanne made for Kevin.
Monday afternoon, around 2:30, Pogo went to sit in front of the door to watch for Joe to come home from work. Joe usually comes in sometime between 3:10 and 3:30.
Well, Joe didn't come home. Instead, he texted me to say that he would be quite late. But Pogo did not understand this when I explained it to him. So three hours later, he is still sitting by the door, waiting for Joe.
It was getting late, so I cooked Pogo a hamburger so that he wouldn't be so hungry. Eventually, close to 8 p.m., Joe finally got home. And of course, Pogo ran right out into the house to bark at Joe and get his turkey treat.
That night, I finished the afghan. My goodness, it is really quite pretty.
Yesterday, while I was out, the box of new yarn came. The carrier did not leave it though, so I called the Post Office and requested a re-delivery for today. It arrived a little while ago. Last night, though, I started a new little dolly dress. This one with the Flamingo yarn. Goodness, such a pretty color!
Now that the yarn is here, I hope to be able to finish up my list of projects in the next couple of months. I'll need to run out today for a bit because I forgot to put the bills out in the mail this morning. Joe is home and he may go out later, so maybe he can drop these off at the post office for me.
I want to thank everyone for the responses about the pets and other animals being saved in Texas. It hurts me to see these animals scared and suffering. I feel much better knowing that a lot of folks and agencies are collecting all the animals and getting them to safety.
Well, now that I've chewed your ear a bit, I think I'll make a fresh cup of coffee and Pogo and I will sit out on the porch for a while. So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

The News Of The Storm Is Not Good
August 28, 2017
Good morning. Well, it is for us. But not so good for millions of folks in Texas. I've been following news of the storm and the news is not good. As of bedtime last night, there had been five deaths because of the storm. The water keeps climbing higher, and the rain doesn't look like it's going to stop for some time.
So far, I have not seen or heard of any pets or wildlife being saved and I am heart sick over this . I'm hoping that everyone who evacuated remembered to take their animals with them. I'm hoping that all livestock has been moved to higher ground before the neighborhoods became flooded.
There's not much other news for today. Pogo and I will go out to do a couple errands when I'm finished typing this post. Other than that, I've made no other plans for today. I have about fifteen more rows to put on the afghan and it will be done, so maybe I'll work on that later today. At some point, I'll have to go pick up a few groceries as we're running out of a few things.
The nights are pretty cool now, only in the fifties. The days are getting shorter too. The sun comes up later in the morning and sets a lot earlier in the evening. So I guess that means that Autumn is right around the corner.
Deanne sent me a photo a few days ago of a "stick bug" that she spotted in her yard. Phasmatodea are an order of insects, whose members are variously known as stick insects in Europe and Australasia; and stick bugs, walking sticks or bug sticks in the United States and Canada. They are also known as Phasmids, ghost insects or leaf insects. They can also be kept as pets, and you can look this information up on Google.
I also have a photo that Joe sent to me while he was at the park. He knows that I love all the water birds there. Here's a cute photo of a pair of ducks resting by a rock.
I also dug a photo out from my archives of a yellow finch enjoying a patch of black-eyed susans. I haven't seen any of these yellow finches around here for a couple of years now. Hmmm, not sure why.
Now I think I'll take my leave and get dressed. I really do need to do a couple of errands. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

The Show Was Awesome!!
August 27, 2017
Good morning. Ah, tis a lovely morning, and I'm in a great mood. According to my latest check on the weather, we have a whole week of temps in the 70's coming our way. Awesome!
I've been keeping an eye on the Weather Channel to see what's happening in Texas with this horrible hurricane. I do hope all my friends and everyone else in Texas stays safe. I'll keep you in my prayers and hope that this storm winds down really soon.
You know, I've been spouting off about the need for water pipelines for years now. If we had built them and put them in place, we wouldn't be having all this flooding now. I'm surprised that no one in the legislature has thought of this idea.
Well, last night, I went to the dinner theatre with Deanne and Eddie and some of their friends. Wowsie, what a great time I had! I had a great seat and could see everything. The food was pretty good, and the entertainment was awesome! I'm thinking that I'd like to go back and watch this show one more time before it's over.
I took a few videos, some of which I've posted on Facebook. Do have a look and enjoy. (my name on Facebook is Franny Loud) Our Jazzy was just awesome! The whole crew was awesome! Here are a few photos from last night. At the beginning of the show, Eddie got called up to the stage to help this young lady with her song. He loved it!!
In the middle photo, Jazzy is on the right, wearing the black cowgirl hat, and of course that's our Jazzy in the last photo. Gosh, I am so glad I was able to go last night. What can I say? Good food, great people and superb entertainment!
During the day, I worked on my afghan for a while. It's coming right along and getting really pretty. It's about two thirds done now. Here's what it looks like now.
Before I go, I have another quick page for you. This one might be good for some of your summer fun photos. Enjoy.

Tomorrow Is National Dog Day
August 25 2017
Good morning. I borrowed this fun image from the web and just had to share it here!
Good morning. I borrowed this fun image from the web and just had to share it here!
And that means that tomorrow night, I get to go out with Deanne and Eddie and a bunch of their friends. We're going to a dinner theatre where Jazzy will be waiting on tables and singing and dancing. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some photos to share with you.
I went looking in my photo archives to see what the weather was like at the end of August a few years ago. Five years ago, we had quite a bit of rain. So much that the whole parking area, including the wooded lot, was beginning to look like a pond. We haven't had very many days like this since then.
Today I have no special plans, but I should probably do some grocery shopping. I should also do some laundry. Yesterday, I washed the sofa cover (for out in the main house), and Dwarf Helen helped me put it back on the sofa after it was dry.
Pogo and I sat out on the porch for a few hours enjoying the gorgeous weather. While we were out there, the mail was delivered. In it, was an envelope containing the colored rhinestones that I had ordered. Some of these will be used to trim the dolly dresses.
I did remember to call my orthopedic doctor to see if I could change the date of my (December) appointment. I was lucky and they re-scheduled me for next Tuesday morning. My right shoulder has been quite painful lately and I need to find out what is wrong. Most likely it has to do with my spinal problems or the arthritis, but I'll let the doctor figure it out.
One of my late hubby's favorite things was a little back-scratcher made of bamboo. Over the last few years, it has become one of my favorite things too. Seems like my back is always getting itchy and I need to use this handy little gadget quite often. Here's a photo of it, resting on one of Pogo's fuzzy blankets.
I haven't heard from one of my blog friends lately, and I'm getting quite concerned. Angelica, if you are reading this, please drop me a line either in a comment or by email (pogosma@gmail.com) and let me know if you are alright.
I won't be here tomorrow but I wanted you to know that August 26 is National Dog Day. If you have a dog (or a kitty cat), give them some extra hugs and kisses.
Now I think it's time to sit out on the porch for a while. Pogo has been waiting patiently by the door for me to finish typing. So, on that happy note, I'll take my leave. Till Sunday, Y'all have an awesome weekend.
Hugs, Edna B.

Oh, What A Gorgeous Day!
August 24, 2017
Good morning, and a lovely morning it is! It's sunny, with a tiny little breeze, and temps should reach right around eighty. Then for the next five days, daytime temps should stay in the seventies. It's sort of like Autumn is trying to slip in quietly, but Summer isn't ready to let go just yet. We still have a few more weeks of Summer.
Well, no packages arrived yesterday. Bummer! I was hoping for at least a package of embellishments for the dolly dresses. But nope! I did get an email saying that my box of new yarn will be arriving by next Tuesday. Oh gosh, how am I going to last that long without the yarn for my new projects? I'm working on the afghan, but I really want to finish up my other projects first. Ah well, put on your big girl panties Edna, and get over it. You'll live!
I'm so spoiled by Amazon with their two day delivery that I get antsy waiting for other companies to ship me my orders. Wouldn't it be nice if all the companies were like Amazon when it comes to shipping?
DIL Janet was here last evening for supper. I made a big pot of macaroni and meat sauce. Yum! Yum! Afterwards, we chatted, watched TV and worked on our crocheting. The queen size bed spread she is making is almost done now. Gosh, it really is beautiful.
This week, while watching the The Jewelry School, a new tool was introduced that intrigued me so I ordered one. It's called a "looper" tool. It makes the loops on the head pins, etc. for you so that they are all the same size. Wow, such a time saver, especially for these pudgy little fingers of mine. Now I can't wait for it to get here. There's another one that makes a different size loop, so I'll probably order that one too. Here's what the looper tool looks like.
One of my new catalogues has a great section on novelty tee shirts. I love reading all of them. Here's a couple that I thought might give you a giggle. I guess a lot of us can relate to both of these shirt sayings.
A couple nights ago, I ordered take out Chinese food for supper. You know, my Pogo loves Pork Fried Rice and Pork Lo Mein. I fill his plate and cut it all up small and he licks his plate clean. Imagine, my picky little guy loving Chinese food! Who'd have thunk it??? He even had leftovers for breakfast the next morning!
Today I have another quick page for you. I love dogs, and dogs evolve from wolves. This one was fun to work on. I used the kit "Wolf Adventure" by Pink Paradox. This lady has some awesome scrap kits. There is a link to her store on her blog.

Now I think I'll make a fresh cup of coffee and take my crocheting out on the porch for a while. I have a plant that needs re-potting so I may do that too while I'm out there. So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Yup, I'm A Yarn Junkie!!!
August 23, 2017
Good morning. From the looks of things outside, we may have gotten a few wet sprinkles during the wee hours of the night. I hope so, all the plants are wanting a drink of water. Right now, the sun is shining and today's temps will be really warm.
Well, yesterday was not a busy day for me. I crocheted a bit and watched some TV. Pogo and I did not go out again. I keep saying "today is the day" but then plans change. It all depends on how I feel after breakfast.
In the afternoon, Deanne's kitty cat passed over to the Rainbow Bridge. Tinkerbell was seventeen years old and had a really good, pampered life. She was a part of the family, and is really missed. R.I.P. sweet Tinkerbell.
Well, as promised, I have photos of Pogo trying on all his new Jammies. He didn't mind trying them on as long as he did not have to look at the camera. (He can be so stubborn at times!) Now when the cold winter nights get here, my little guy will be nice and warm as he sleeps. The third Jammy down isn't pink like it looks, it is all pastel colors with paw prints.
Another package arrived yesterday. This one held gifts to be put away for the Holidays and a sign that I bought to put up on my property. (inside the yard, of course). I am a very politically incorrect person, and I'm proud of it.
I had ordered some embellishments for the dolly dresses, and I'm hoping they come soon. When they get here, I'll finish up all the dolly dresses that I've made so far. Then I'll take a photo of them before I pack them away. When I go shopping, I'll pick up enough air fresheners to put with each dolly.
Now I can't wait for the box of new yarn to get here. I am so wanting to try out those new yarn colors. I already have a few new projects lined up for some of that yarn. I guess I'm a sort of yarn nerd. Give me a hunk of yarn and a crochet hook and I'm a happy little camper.
Well, that's my news for this morning. It's time for a fresh cup of coffee and some playtime with Pogo. I think we'll go sit on the porch for a while and enjoy the nice weather before it gets too hot. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Quite an Eventful Day
August 22, 2017
Good morning. Tis a bit cloudy at the moment, but I'm sure the sun will be out soon and the temps will climb up into the high eighties. Right now, though, it is just super outside. Gosh, I can't believe how quickly this month is flying by. It would be so nice if it would just last a little bit longer because it is such a beautiful month.
Well, it's been busy around here. Yesterday, we were all hoping for a glimpse of the solar eclipse. Of course, you know that without special glasses or camera lenses, you couldn't look into the sun or take photographs of it. Dwarf Helen found a great way for us to watch this phenomenon. She put out a basin with water in it. We could then see the sun's reflection in the water, and we could photograph it. Well, at least we tried.
Note the little crescent moon just below the left side of the tub. This little crescent moon was in all of my photos. Even in the videos that I took. Here's another photo that I took of the sun's reflection in the water. It did not really get dark here, nor was I able to see much of the eclipse. But, it was still pretty awesome.
Then of course, last evening our neighbors across the street provided us with some not so great entertainment again. They always park trucks or construction equipment on the street, thereby causing frequent automobile accidents. Last night they had a dump truck and a large wood chipper parked on the street, and around 8:30 pm there was a really nasty accident.
Passersby dragged a woman from the car because there was a lot of smoke coming from the car. The woman was unconscious. I think there were two children in the car too, but someone whisked them away to a nearby neighbor's house to safety. Needless to say, there were police, firemen and trucks, and tow trucks gathered around in just a short time. Hopefully, all of the car's passengers will be okay.
You would think that after all the accidents caused by the vehicles parked on the street at this house, that the town officials or the police could do something about it. No one else parks on the street at night. It is a state road, so it isn't supposed to be allowed, but these folks seem to make their own rules.
I spent a little time yesterday afternoon and evening working on the new afghan. I wanted to get the third color started on it before I had to put it down. Isn't this pretty? Again, the colors are Honeysuckle, Salmon and Peachy (in that order).
If you do any knitting or crocheting, you might want to try the yarn from this particular company. It is Hersschners. The yarn feels so nice to work with, and I love the little feature that you can see on the right side of the photo. It is a "easy start" tag. I've made a close-up so that you can see it better. This is such a time saver!
Pogo's new jammies arrived yesterday, but we'll save those photos for tomorrow's post. We did not make it out to do our errands yesterday, and I'm not sure we'll be able to do it today. It all depends on how I feel later this morning. Right now I'm fine, but I still have a few things to do before I can think about going out.
Well, that's my news for today. It's time to take my nebulizer meds. (I'm using my portable nebulizer) So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

It Helps If You Can See What You Are Trying To Use!
August 21, 2017
Good morning. It's just gorgeous outside, even though it will be getting much warmer in a couple hours. When I finish posting here, I'll take my nebulizer meds out to the porch with me. My nebulizer machine died a couple days ago, so I've dug out my portable machine to use for now.
Well yesterday I finished the little red doll dress, and last evening I decided to sew the hook and eye sets on all the dresses. When I was at the craft store, I was buying a spool of every color thread to match each of the dresses. This seemed to be a bit much so I asked the saleswoman if I should buy the invisible thread instead. This way I could use it for all the dresses. The woman assured me that this would be best. So I bought the invisible thread and happily made my way home.
Folks, if you have even just a teeny tiny brain in your head DO NOT try using invisible thread instead of the regular colored threads. It took me about fifteen or twenty minutes just to figure out how to find the end of the thread on the spool. The needles were in a new fangled circular thingy, and after a while I finally figured out how to get a needle out to use. (By now, I'm already getting frazzled!)
The fun began when I tried to thread the needle (even with a needle threader). I had to keep holding the whole thing up to the light to make sure there was actually thread on the needle. Once the needle was finally threaded, it was time to put a knot at the end of the thread. Oh yeah, how does one put a knot on thread that is invisible? I tried. I really did try. After a while I had to get a bit creative to figure out a way to get that invisible thread knotted. Yeaaaah! Success!
Next I got out a tiny eye and hook set and attempted to sew it on to the little red dress. It's bad enough that the thread is invisible, but my fat little fingers are just not nimble enough any more to be working with these tiny pieces. I managed to get the eye part sewed on, but by now I've decided not to use this thread, or the hook and eye sets. This is pure torture, and I'm almost sorry that I made the dresses to begin with.
It took a while, but I finally managed to clip the "eye part" from the dress without cutting any of the yarn. I've decided that if I have to, I'll sew the dresses onto the dolls. Gosh, why didn't I think of this before? DUH !!
Yesterday, I also ordered another batch of new yarn. There were some new scrumptious colors shown in the catalogue that I just could not resist. Beach Day, Rose Garden, Paradise Sunset and Cactus, just to name a few. I'm going to use some of them to make more dolly dresses. Problem is, the yarn won't be here for at least a week.
My hands need to be busy, so I picked up a skein of the new Honeysuckle yarn and started a new afghan. Here's a photo of the beginning of the new afghan. Below that is a photo of the little red dress while I was working on it.
I think later today, I'll try to figure out how to close the back of the doll dresses. This should keep me busy for a while. I'll have to order some more dolly parts, because I have just enough of them for the dresses that I've already made.
This sort of reminds me of when my kids were small. I used to crochet whole wardrobes for my girls' dolls. Oh yeah, I even sewed the hook and eye sets on the clothes that needed them. My fingers used to be tiny and thin and cute, and oh so nimble! Ahhhh, the good old days!
Well, I've chewed your ear off by now, so I think I'll take my leave. I have to watch for the mail truck because I have a bill that needs to be mailed. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Pogo Is Getting Just Too Pickly!
August 20, 2017
Good morning. Pogo and I went outside just for a few moments and oh my, is it ever lovely right now. In a few hours, it will be much warmer, but these morning temps are awesome.
Things are really quiet around here. Friday, Deanne and I went to the shooting range, but instead of shooting practice, we asked the instructor to give us a lesson in handling and using our guns. We felt that we needed more hands on practice with holding, loading, etc. So we spent our time learning about our guns. It was time well spent. We came away feeling more comfortable about handling the guns.
Yesterday, was nap day. For some reason, I was just plain tired. I'm getting enough sleep, but some days I just can't seem to get out of my own way. So I napped in the afternoon, and crocheted a bit in the evening. I finished the "cornmeal" dolly dress and started a red one. These little dresses are cute and fun to work on.
Joe sent me a photo that he took at the park yesterday. He's getting very good at photographing the swans. I love the cloud reflections in the water.
Here's a photo of some of the ducks at the pond that I took a while ago. Pogo and I will have to start spending more time at the park photographing these beautiful birds.
As I sit here typing, I'm looking out my door at my flag dancing happily about in the breeze. What a beautiful sight for these old eyes. I think when I finish this post, I'll take my coffee and my crocheting out to the porch for a while until it gets too warm.
Today I have another quick page for you. This is a fun page for all of you who love owls. Have fun with it.

Pogo is on a hunger strike again. He has turned his nose up at everything I've tried to feed to him. All I have left now is doggie food. I tried giving him some yesterday but he wouldn't have anything to do with it. I even tried giving him a bowl of beef stew. He wouldn't even look at it. I guess he just isn't hungry enough yet.
Well, I guess it's time to sit out on the porch for a while. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

A New Med Regime - Sort Of
August 18, 2017
Good morning. Well, today is a bit gray with a nice breeze and temps in the seventies. Perhaps we'll have us some rain sometime today. That would be nice, especially for the grass and the plants. It's also a great day to go to the shooting range and practice for a while.
And that's what Deanne and I are going to do in a couple hours. Gosh, it's been so long since we've been there. I bought us some new targets to make it more fun and easier to get back in the groove. We also want to see about arranging for a class on how to clean the guns. This past Christmas, Pogo bought Deanne and me each a carry bag for our guns and ammo. It also includes a set of cleaning tools. How neat is that? Today I'll finally get to use my new bag.
Yesterday, I had my annual physical, and a nice chat with my doctor about my meds. Goodness, between the breathing meds and the nebulizer meds, they are so confusing. I took some notes, and today I'll make up a new med list to go by. It seems if I take meds "A", I don't have to take meds "B". If I take meds "C" then I don't have to take meds "D".
Some of the meds are for when I am at home, and some are for when I am not a t home. Don't you just love it??? I'll try this new regime for a while to see how I feel. If it's not working after a while, then I'll call my doctor and see what needs changing.
I got home just in time for Pogo to see Joe and have his turkey treat. After that, Pogo and I went shopping at JoAnn's Fabric shop. Mostly, I was just looking for some different trims for my little doll dresses. They were having a rather nice sale, so I picked up a few different things to try out. On the way home, we stopped at Wendy's and got some take out for our supper. A nice way to end a busy day.
Later today, I'll take some photos of the little doll dresses to share. Meanwhile, I dug into my archives for a few photos of one of my favorite birds. Pigeons might be considered pesky, but I find them quite beautiful and personable.
Did you notice that the white pigeon has feathers on it's legs and feet? I'll have to do a bit of research to find out why this one is different than the other birds. Still, I think it is quite beautiful.
Well, I've finished my nebulizer meds, and I think I'll have another cup of coffee before it's time to get ready to leave. So, till Sunday, Y'all have an awesome weekend.
Hugs, Edna B.

How Safe Are Our Medicines?
August 17, 2018
Good morning. My goodness, how gorgeous it is outside my door. According to the forecast, it will stay like this all day. Woo Hoo! This is good because I have to go out. My doctor appointment for tomorrow has been re-scheduled to early this afternoon.
In a way this is good because I really do need to discuss my meds with the doctor. On the information sheet for one of my nebulizer meds it says "People with asthma, who take long-acting beta-adrenergic agonist (LABA) medicines, such as BROVANA, have an increased risk of death from asthma problems." Another sentence says "It is not known if BROVANA is safe and effective in people with asthma." Hmmm, considering that the medicine does not seem to help an awful lot, I wonder if I should be taking it at all?
I also need to discuss whether or not my new (from the Oxygen company) portable concentrator is FAA approved. I can't find it listed anywhere on the list of FAA approved machines. I called the oxygen company and they said that there is a manufacturer label on the machine that says that it is FAA approved. Well, that does help. (I hope) I also asked the company if they carried the newer, much lighter machine and they said no because it was too new.
This past Christmas I received a Maxine calendar, and I've been meaning to post the monthly pictures from it. Alas, I haven't gotten around to doing that yet, so today I'll start with the August image. I love Maxine. She somehow always says it like it is!
In an earlier post I had mention that Deanne's cat "Tinkerbell" hasn't been doing so well lately. They've been watching her carefully, but Tinkerbell isn't ready to leave yet. Here's a photo that Deanne sent to me of Sassy and Tinkerbell napping together on the sofa. They look so peaceful, don't they?
Last night I decided to try making one of the air freshener doll dresses. The dress is almost finished now. I just have to put the closures on it and some trim. It's a mint green color and my goodness, it is really cute. When I'm done with it, I'll take a photo to share.
My little guy wasn't in the mood yesterday to eat his chicken and rice. He even turned down some of my pizza last night. This morning, however, he was rather hungry and ate half of the doggie food that I gave him for breakfast. I just wish I could figure out what foods he would eat.
Today I have another quick page for you. I hope you like fantasy.

To Breathe Or Not To Breathe
August 16, 2017
Good morning. Tis another gorgeous morning here in my little part of the world. I've always said that for great weather, summer vacations in New England should be taken in August. The days are warm, the nights are cool and there's usually a lovely breeze all day long.
Well, yesterday I did go out to pick up my meds and groceries. Did I look for a lemon merengue pie? Of course I did! Not only did I find my pie, but the lady working in that department had just discounted the price on it from $4.89 to $1.35. Woo Hoo!! As soon as I got home and put everything away, I cut me a slice of that pie and ....oh my, was that ever delicious!!
Picking up meds was not so much fun. I had only re-filled my two nubulizer meds. The price of these meds is staggering. The cash price for one of the meds was almost $500 and the other one was $1150. And these prices are only for a thirty day supply. Even with insurance, once you have reached your cap (and it is not very high) you end up paying most of the cost. The nebulizer medicine that I used to take only cost $10. I'm going to have a chat with my doctor to see about what can be done to change some of my meds to less expensive ones.
A little while later, a box containing my new yarn was delivered. Oh my, the yarn is soooo pretty. Now I can't wait to work with it. I did take out the skein of red yarn because I've been itching to make up one of the little red baby hats. Remember, these will be going to a nursery in a local hospital for next February.
Well, the first little hat was such fun that I made a second one. I'm not sure how many I'll make, but I'm sure that between now and February I can put together a nice little bundle of these hats. I will give them to Deanne and let her take them to the hospital. This project was her idea.
Once I finished the second little hat, I was itching to grab a hank of the other new yarn and start a new afghan. But, I was really good and did not touch it. The doll dresses need to be finished first. I did pick up the little hook and eye sets and some thread yesterday so maybe that's what I'll do today. I also want to get the little air freshener doll dresses made before I start a big project. Of course, I don't always do what I should, so we'll see.
As promised, I took photos of my new blog book to share here. This shows both covers. As usual, the back cover is reserved for a new photo of my handsome little guy.

The other day I got another new catalogue in the mail. (what else is new?) Whether I buy anything or not, I enjoy looking through these catalogues. I did find a new and unusual product that could prove to be handy for every young woman. Have a look and see what you think.
In today's society, personal safety is so very important. For anyone interested in this or any other fun item, the name of the catalogue is "The Lighter Side." You can get a catalogue by calling 1-800-232-0963 or by visiting their web site www.LighterSide.com.
Well, I've finished my coffee and my nebulizer meds so I think it's time I started doing a few things around the house. Pogo is sitting by the door and wanting to go out on the porch for a while so maybe I'll pour me another cup of coffee and sit out on the porch with my little guy before starting any chores.
On that note, I'll take my leave. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have an awesome day.
Hugs, Edna B.
