Good morning. What an eye opener!! Please disregard the post and address for sending cards to recovering American soldiers. I checked with Snopes (I really should have done this first I guess), and Walter Reed Hospital DOES NOT ACCEPT cards for our soldiers. I did not know this but they closed in 2011 to merge with another medical facility.
According to Snopes, I guess you will have to contact your local Red Cross centers to find out how to send holiday cards to any of our military. All cards must be signed (name only), and will be distributed without the envelopes. If interested, check out Snopes.com for more information. I'm sorry for the misinformation. It sounded like a good idea to me. (I even addressed several envelopes with cards myself)
I remember back when I was nineteen, participating in a program where we could write letters to service men and women. I actually got to meet the wonderful young man (and his family) that I was corresponding with. Sad to say, times have changed, and for safety reasons the government frowns on this now. Progress?
On to a cheerier note, I went to watch Jazzy perform as the Ghost of Christmas Present yesterday. What a treat!! We are so very proud of our Jazzy. Actually, we are quite proud of all the members of our local drama group. They all did a fabulous job in A Christmas Carol.
I did my best to take photos and videos, but there was a rather large and squirmy guy seated to my right, and he kept bumping into my right arm. The way he was seated in his seat had me quite scrunched in my seat. Yeesh!! Some folks just aren't very polite.
But I did get some super photos, and a few good videos. I've posted two of the videos on my FB page for those of you who would like to see them. (for those of you interested, my FB name is Franny Loud) Here are a few photos from the play.
The Ghost of Christmas Past visits Ebeneezer Scrooge.

Next, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Jazzy) visits Ebeneezer.
I had to include this shot because I think it is so interesting and fun. Friends of ours were taking a "selfie" of themselves and Jazzy, while I was off to the side taking a photo of them.
This next photo is my favorite. Gosh, it shows just how blessed I really am. This is what happens when a mom has two sons and a daughter. She ends up with three beautiful daughters!! Dee Dee, you too are very blessed. From left to right, Amber (Bobby's sweetie, Janicee (Kevin's sweetie), Jazzy and Mom (my daughter Deanne). I'm still patting my shoulder with pride!
Last, but not least, here's a photo of the proud Papa too. This is my SIL Eddie. If his chest puffs up any more, it will burst!! (actually, I could say that about all of us!!)

Good Morning! A quick visit before me losing Cowboys play (but still gotta watch and root for them) and before Jeff Gordon makes his final laps for NASCAR....hoping he goes out on top as the winner of the cup if not the race! So enjoy your daily e-mails and love all the photos of the afghans and neck warmers...the gorgeous ones too of your Jazzy and family! We dropped from middle 70's to 31 this morning so I spent lots of time yesterday with the plants and making sure my fur babies were all taken care of. Today will be couch potato day and I think I will make a pot of my potato soup and a pan of cornbread. Have a fantastic week ahead and hug Pogo an extra time for me, he looks so sweet in Kyra's page! oh Jazzy looks so beautiful! I can see why everyone is beaming with pride. not only gorgeous but so talented too! I wish I was closer and could go see the play.
I know just a few years ago you could send cards to servicemen/women. I think it's sad that now it's unsafe. well the world has surely changed, and unfortunately I don't think it's going to change anytime soon.
It is very, very sad that the world has changed so much that it is almost impossible to do some good and bring some happiness to a life by sending a card.

Fantastic, that yu had such a good time and all surrounded by family.

Looks today we will have a nice day, almost no wind which is wonderful, lots of sun, okay, temperature is about 5C, not too much, but we can overcome that.

While this is not for active military I thought you might like to know that the Volunteer Services at my local Veterans Administration Hospital is always looking for cards. The are hand delivered without envelopes and they request a message on sentiment inside and a first name signature. I worked on these all summer and this week delivered 300 handmade cards. I usually send between 50 and 100 for each holiday. This was really too much but I will continue to make cards for them both holiday and generic. Check with your local facility to see if they are doing the same.
