Good morning. I've been up since 4 a.m. So much for sleeping through the whole night. haha. But I've made good use of my time by checking emails, and making breakfast for Pogo and me. I even put the last few rows on the baby blanket. I'll take a photo later to share.
Today I have super news. Our baby Ali was able to go home yesterday, and her mom sent us this photo. This is Lilah, Ali and Jack. I have lots to be thankful for.
Yesterday afternoon, I took Joe grocery shopping so he could buy his turkey and other supplies for today's dinner. Oh my, what a sticker shock he got!!! Not only were all the turkeys priced way up from last Friday's price, but they only had frozen turkeys left.
What does a person do when the bird has to be thawed out in time to be cooked this morning? He decided to put the turkey back and buy a turkey breast instead. I read the label and there are still (parts of) legs and wings in the package. I don't know how, but no big deal. However, it was frozen solid.
When we got home, Joe immediately put the frozen chunk of turkey into a huge pan of water to thaw it out. A couple hours later he took it out of the water and put it in the refrigerator. I asked why it wasn't still in the water and Joe said that it was all thawed out. HUH???? Peanut butter and jelly is starting to sound really good!
I have a funny story and photo to share with you. Yesterday, before I left for the market, I put some of Pogo's big fuzzy blankets on the floor (just in case of accidents). When I get home, I pick them up, fold them and put them away.
Yesterday, when I got home from the store, I was in a hurry to take a potty break, so I folded the blankets up and set them on Pogo's little bed. When I came back into the room, I found my little guy perched on top of the pile of blankets, with no intention of getting down anytime soon. I guess he was just claiming ownership so that I wouldn't put the blankets away somewhere. haha. He is such a wonderful little character! (so yes, I left his blankets there for now)
As you know, most retail stores (not all) have decided to stay closed either all day or at least most of the day so that employees could spend Thanksgiving with their families. However, they don't tell you that their employees still have to work whole shifts today to get the store's merchandise ready for the big sale. My daughter Audrey is working (for Walmart) this morning from 4:30 a.m. till 1 p.m. So much for letting the employees enjoy the day at home with their families. What's wrong with this picture?
Why can't we bring back the blue laws where all stores were closed on Sundays and Holidays? At least close for the Holidays! Families are so very important, but it's hard to celebrate together when the parents are required to work on the holidays. It's hard to go to church together when your parents are working on Sundays. Just food for thought.
I want to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving Day. Even if it is not a holiday where you live, Y'all have a super day anyway!!
Hugs, Edna B.
p.s. Stacey, can you please email me so that I can email you back? Thanks, Edna B.

I'm so happy to see that baby Ali is home where she belongs - truly a thanks giving event.
Pogo on top of all his blankets reminded me of "Princess and the Pea", he looks very regal perched atop his kingdom.
Hope your turkey works out for you, we'll be visiting a restaurant later today for our feast. With these horrible colds we've had neither one of us has a huge appetite, but it's tradition...and therefore we will eat turkey.
Hi Edna, Happy Thanksgiving! Hope your turkey dinner turned out okay. Our turkey wasn't too bad, we got our on Monday, a 16 pounder for about 20.00 not too bad, we fed 6 people and still have tons of leftovers to eat for the next week. I will email you today, if I can find your email. if not I will PM you via facebook. I'm plum wore out though. I needed a part for my carpet shampooer, so my mom helped me order it, but we paid an extra 5.00 to have it come in by last Monday, but when I checked on Monday the delivery date was changed to Wednesday. they refunded our full shipping, but UPS delivered it at 800pm on Wednesday, so I was shampooing my carpets till almost 11pm last night, than had to get up early this morning to get the turkey in, so it was a long, but fun day. Little Pogo, looks just so cute perched on those blankets. He just loves, them so! I don't think I've seen a little guy who loved blankets as much as he does.
Hi Edna,
found your email, and sent you a note.
Oh, what a wonderful news about Ali.!!! And such a sweet photo.
Now crossing everything that i can cross(fingers, toes, anything LOL), that all will go well with the little one.
Gosh, poor Joe, having such great plans for Thanksgiving and no turkey to be found. Well, no whole one. Hope he still could make something with the turkey breasts.?
Our pets surely do know how to pamper themselves, hey?
Pogo is about the same as our Brodski in some ways. A news blanket on the vouch and who is on it? Yes, Brodski. Then I cover up e.g. the elbow rest of a chair(because Brodski suddenly likes to sit there) and what happens? He just doesn;t sit there anymore, till the time I take the little cover away, hahaha.!
What a pity you couldn;t have a whole night sleep again.
Perhaps you can sleep longer again this night.
It is a shame that everywhere there is that 24 hours economy, forcing people to work on strange days and hours, and breaking up that way family life, specially on Sundays and holidays.
Of course in some professions it cannot be done otherwise(like nursing, hospital, police, firebrigade etc.) but supermarkets, all kind of shops, such things? May be one day that will change again?
Time now to do some posting on my blog.
Have a lovely day.
Hug
Kyra
You do indeed have much to be thankful for ... how many great grandchildren do you have now? And one can't forget your dwarfs ... Joe cooks Thanksgiving dinner? Is there anything he doesn't do? Why isn't this handy man married, he would make some lucky girl a great husband.
Wonderful that Ali is home with her family ... the kids are gorgeous. Your family all seem to take after you. How was your Thanksgiving dinner ... did Pogo get any turkey? We had turkey and chicken because Mint had never had turkey and she didn't know if she would like it ... well, she did, so we have extra leftovers to spare me from having to cook for about a week, I am guessing. I am certainly thankful for that :) This was Mint's first Thanksgiving and an interesting experience for her. They don't make gravy or dressing in Thailand so she just ate little bits ... it is all very fattening and they don't eat fattening in Thailand. She did well though and I am sure will go back to her low calorie, spicy eating habits by today. The kids went shopping for the early Black Friday deals last night ... many Christmas presents done already. I would really like to get those deals, but could never tolerate the crowds, ugh!
It rained here all day yesterday so Izzi didn't get our her usual amount, but she was happy to stay in and wait to lick the bowls and pans as they were emptied and then put on the floor for her. That way she gets a taste of everything, but in such small quantities that it won't blow her up like a balloon. She did have a happy, lazy day.
Mint finally got her green card and when she did she changed her name to Priebe. She had left her maiden name on everything because all of her original paperwork used her maiden name so she didn't want to through a wrench in the works by trying to change her name on all of it. So now she is an official legal resident of USA and and official Priebe. In three years she will apply for citizenship. The kids are going back to Thailand at the end of December to spend time with her family ... then I will go in February for their Thai wedding. I have to say I am quite excited and my flights have been booked all ready so now all I have to do is lose another 15 pounds ( I say after gorging myself on all that good food yesterday). I will have to do some serious dieting because the pounds don't come off so easily anymore. And, it is hard to do much walking in the cold weather. This is the time of year that I usually gain weight. Wish me luck, Edna, I am going to need it.
It is quiet around here this morning so I have time to get caught up on my blogging which seems to get harder and harder. I think once I am finished teaching the Raptor Handling class at the Raptor Center I may be able to get back to normal. Being gone all day on Monday throws my whole week off. And, last week I spent most of the day Tuesday taking Mint for a follow up appointment on her leg surgery. She is doing really well and her leg is straight, just the way it should be. She has some scaring on her leg, but that will fade over time and the best part is she will be able to run again ... she is very happy and thank goodness for Ryan's good insurance :) Well, better get going. I need to do some creating for my Friday and Saturday posts. You have a nice relaxing day and try to catch up on some of the sleep that you seem not to be getting :) ... Be well, Edna and hugs to Pogo from Izzi ...

Ali sure is a precious little baby and look how lucky she is going home with those beautiful siblings. I am always sad when I see little babies that have to stay in the hospital. But then it is good that they are getting excellent care. I was chuckling about your turkey story and Joe and the frozen bird and the frozen parts. Laugh out loud. We have been known to give a turkey a cool bath too! Lol! Noelle made the turkey this year it was about 20 pounds and we barely had a couple handfuls left for snacking later. We cooked up a Smithfield ham and it was quite delicious I'm going to use some of it to make ham salad. It is something my mother always did after all of the major holidays. It is so simple some hard-boiled eggs your ham pieces and some dill relish and just add a little mayo or miracle whip and you have some nice ham salad for spreading on crackers or making a sandwich. My husband has this ninja blender with all these extra attachments including a fancy food processor but we still love our old Black & Decker food processor and it really sliced up the scalloped potatoes perfectly .I made two homemade pumpkin pies but Rebekah made to homemade pumpkin pies from total scratch she bought the sugar pumpkins cook them cut them mash them make them ,she has to be a show off laugh out loud The dogs have all finally settle down taking a rest and now of course Rose wants to be a pain in my behind and try to lay on me and scratch at me and be a very naughty kitten. The other cat is resting comfortably with the dogs he could care less about getting into any mischief . He is snuggled in his blanket lol lol well you have a great evening and stay safe and stay warm. It is 14° here Brrrrrrr I am so cold
