Memorial Day 2015

May 25, 2015

Good morning.  I've been up for a couple of hours now, trying to get my feet settled under me.  I feel okay, but the thought of drinking my cup of coffee is not feeling so good.  So, no coffee this morning.  I'll just stick with the spring water.

Today is Memorial Day, and hopefully there will be lots of parades everywhere.  Also, I'm hoping that lots of people will be outside at these parades, watching and enjoying them.  It's sad to say, but as the "new" immigration population goes up, interest in our flag and the parades goes down.  We are being asked to fly different flags, and hold parades for different country celebrations instead of our own.  We are being asked not to sing the national anthem at sporting events.  Gosh, it seems we've lost so much of what we are all so proud of.  It makes me wonder why so many folks keep coming here to live.  Why not stay where they are if they don't like our ways?   (I take my observations from the communities around me, and by reading the newspaper and watching TV)

I don't want to be sounding like I don't like immigrants.  I like most anyone who can live with and respect others.   You are welcome to share in the bounties of my country.  But you must respect our laws, our right to our religions, our customs and holidays, our belief in God and our flag.  I don't think this is asking too much of anyone.  Anyone moving to my country must be moving here because what they are leaving behind is not so good.  So why are they trying to so hard to change my country to be like the one they left behind?

Also, I think if someone is planning on living in this wonderful country of ours, they should learn to speak, read and write English, and become a citizen.  Show that they are proud to be here.  This is no less than what one of us would have to do in order to live in another country.  (learn their language and become a citizen)

Today we pay our respects to all those men and women who paid the highest price for our freedom.  As I look through my "family" book, it appears that most all of the men in my family served in the military to ensure that I (and you) would be free to live and love in this beautiful country.  The book has records going all the way to the 1600's.  Is it any wonder that I love my flag so?  Isn't this just the most beautiful sight?

I think I should take my leave here before I go off on a tangent.  My family is very patriotic.  (You probably couldn't tell, huh?)  I'm wishing everyone a beautiful Memorial Day.

So, till  tomorrow, Y'all be safe, enjoy the parades, and wave your flags!  Have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Today is such a special day. Several years ago one of my friends sister was laid to rest in the Veteran Cemetery and the service was performed on Memorial Day. Every year I remember my friend and her sister as well as so many other men and women who yes did indeed pay the ultimate price for what so many take for granted. It is a bittersweet day. Hugs, Beth

You're just being truthful. I had a Hispanic lady to tell me I need to learn how to speak Spanish and I will get more business in the Insurance business. I told her no, you all should learn how to speak English because I grew up in Louisiana and never learned how to speak French. Why should I learned a different language other than English in America? I told her you all are the one losing out on a lot of benefits because we have been making life worthwhile this long without you.
I blame greed for more money when business are using other languages just to make money. If they didn't do that, they would have to learn how to speak English. It's so bad when human aren't understanding each other. God didn't mean for it to be like that either. Let's blame our Federal law makers for not making other languages a federal offense in America. They can sit there and take all our money and do nothing. This will be something they could consider. (lol) Have a very blessed Memorial day. Continue taking care of yourself. I needed that rant also. (lol)

Didn't read through all your post from the last two or 3 weeks, but I will get to that.
Sorry you also still are nt feeling 100%nafter the bug/virus you caught. Seems the cugh is getting less, hopefully it will disappear cokmpletely. But.... keep in touch with your doctor if it lasts too long and you still feel very tired and such. Perhaps he can give you another medicin, or like mine, some extra proteine drinking food. But first you must get rid of the annoying cough, that is sooooo tiring, I know all about it.
So take care dear, just bomb your doctor with telephone calls, and if you think it would be good, you go to him( I was too late and you know what happened!).
And if he cannot solve it, perhaps he should send yu to a specialist in hospital!
Hopefully this all will not be necessary and from now on you will feel a bit better every day.
Big hug
Kyra
