Farewell To June
June 30, 2014
Good morning. It's on and off cloudy today with the sun poking it's rays in and out just enough to tease us. The weather man says it will be very hot and sunny by late morning, with no rain in sight until the end of the week. Actually, it is supposed to be sunny and hot all week.
Last night was a pretty good night at work. By 9:30 p.m. the Mrs was all tucked into bed, and I could settle in to do a bit of crocheting. Wrong!! I had forgotten to put my crocket hook into my purse. So much for that.
Instead, I did a couple of jig saw puzzles on my laptop and watched some TV. I also dug out a pretty photo of the Mrs' Quince bush to post for Mandarin Monday. The blooms have all gone by now, but this is how it looked just a few weeks ago.
My little guy finally ate some food for me yesterday. He even ate a little of his dog food too, and this morning he ate almost half of his breakfast (also dog food). Today I think I'll give the salon a call to see if we can make an appointment for a hair cut this week. My little fellow is looking rather like a tiny lion.
Aside from paying a couple of bills, today will be a quiet day. On Mondays I usually try to grab a nap to catch up on lost sleep from the weekend. Maybe this afternoon, Pogo and I will go out and take a walk around the neighborhood for a little exercise. Well, at least that is the plan.
That's it for this morning. I need to get these bills out to the mailbox before the mail lady comes around. So, till next month (tomorrow is July already!), Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

It's Never Too Late To Learn
June 29, 2014
Good morning. It's 5:35 a.m. and the sun is beginning to change the color of the sky from a light grayish blue to one with streaks of light yellow. Yup, it's going to be another warm, sunny day here in my little part of the world.
Last night I brought my DSLR to work with me in case I got a chance for a nice nature shot. Alas, there is just too much texture on the outside of the windows here, and none of my shots were very good.
I'm going to be changing the setting on my camera for a while to take photos in RAW and JPEG. My friend Mary Ann is going to teach me how to process the RAW files. It's something I should have tried to learn a while ago. But as the old saying goes "It's never to late to learn."
For photos this morning, I dug into my archives and brought up three pictures from this day two years ago. The first photo was taken in the Mrs' garden. The peach Rose and Japanese Iris are from my garden. This year the Black Eyed Susans are no longer blooming, but my roses and the iris are getting ready to burst into bloom.
.....I'm back. The Mrs was calling and in need of a bit of help. Now she is back in bed for a few more winks before her day starts. I'm looking out the window, and the field across the street is flooded with sunshine. The mist has burned off and all the grass has a golden glow. Yup, another lovely day.
I've been working on the turquoise afghan, and now it is more than half done. This one is being mailed away and therefore needs to be finished before the others that I've started. As long as the other three are finished before the end of August, I will have plenty of time to work on new things.
I am so tempted to have a closer look at Tamron's newest lens. You know me, I'm a greedy little soul when it comes to new toys. I will have to talk DIL into going into Boston to one of the bigger camera stores with me to have a look at the lens close up and personal. I also want to try it out with my camera to see if I can handle it. If I like the lens, I'll talk it over with Pogo. He always tells me to "go for it!".
Well, there's not much more news for today. So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

An Absolutely Perfect Day
June 27, 2014
Good morning. It's a beautiful morning here in New England. The sun is shining, there's a cool breeze and the temperature will only get up to the high 70's F today. Simply perfect!
Yesterday we did get a few wet sprinkles. Some areas around here got a few minutes of downpour, but we got sprinkles. Actually, I never even saw them happen. I saw the rain drops on my car when I went out to go food shopping. However, the night temps did go down, and it was a great sleeping night.
I must confess, I never even picked up my crocheting last night. Pogo and I watched a little TV, and succumbed to the cool temps and fell fast asleep.
At the supermarket yesterday, I bought a package of sandwich steaks, the kind that are sort of shredded. I figure I'll cook up some of this later today and see if I can temp my little guy into eating it. I think I'll cook some with onions and green peppers for me. Mmmm, maybe we'll have this for lunch. The thought of it is making me hungry.
There's an ad on TV saying that the annual Fair opens today. Maybe Pogo and I will go there one night when the fireworks are being displayed. Hopefully I can get some photos. We'll see. I'll have to look up the daily program for the Fair to see when they will be having fireworks.
I've dug into my photo archives to find some fun photos to share today. This first one was taken at the park. When the cormorant poked it's head up out of the water, this large goose was quite startled.
Next, I found a fun little dragonfly. He had found something tasty for his lunch, and was trying to tell me to bug off so he could eat in peace.
Here I have a butterfly with some very interesting colors. I never realized that the color on the outside of the wings is quite different than the color on the inside of the wings. The butterfly's wings were orange and black (or dark brown) on the outside, and Pink with gray and white and black on the inside.
Pogo and I have no special plans for today. We are just enjoying the fabulous temps. The birds are chirping outside my living room window, and all in all it's a super day.
Now it's time to rustle up some breakfast. Pogo has been lying here next to me, patiently waiting for his food. Hmmm, I wonder if he'll eat any of it. It's dog food!!! Sometimes I wonder what goes through his mind when I feed him dog food. Maybe I don't really want to know.
Well, that's my news for this morning. So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Looking For A Little Rain
June 26, 2014
Good morning. Today is starting off rather nice. Some sun mixed with clouds, a slight breeze, and the hot temps aren't due for a few more hours. I was hoping to wake up to some rain this morning, but so far the rain has evaded us. The weather man keeps saying that the rain is coming, so maybe later?
It was really warm here yesterday, and it's just going to keep getting warmer right into the weekend. Some of the heat feels good, but the rest just makes the air uncomfortable and not so good for breathing. It's time to get the A/C in the window.
Remember that treadmill that I bought? Well, I've found a good home for it. DIL says she'll take it home with her and give it a good workout. Meanwhile I'll look for one that is easier to use, or maybe an exercise bike. I'll have do some research to see which one will be best for me.
Last week, I realized I hadn't picked out a color for an afghan for my daughter Laura Jean. So I went to the store and bought some turquoise yarn that I thought would work up quite pretty. I took a photo to show how pretty it is. Laura Jean has light blonde hair and blue eyes, so this will look ever so pretty on her bed.
I also have a couple photos to share of visitors to our feeder area. We always sprinkle lots of birdseed on the ground for the ground feeders, chipmunks and squirrels. This way, everyone is happy.
There's really not much news here today. This afternoon, I'll take Joe food shopping, and maybe do a bit of vacuuming. That will be my exercise for the day. Exciting? Not really, but for now it will have to do. The good thing is that my car has air conditioning and so does the super market.
Well, that's it for now. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Beutiful New Layouts To Share
June 25, 2014
Good morning. Gosh, it seems like just a few days ago I was mentioning that it was almost June. However, while I've been busy doing not much of anything, June has almost spent all it's time here. In less than a week, it will be July. Is it just me? Or is everybody feeling how quickly the warm months fly by?
Notice that I said "warm months". The cold months seem to linger on for the longest time. Or maybe it is just psychological. If you like the warm months best, maybe that is why they seem to fly by quickest. I don't know, but I think it would be nicer if there were more warm months in a year .
Yesterday Pogo and I had a very busy day, and by evening it was so easy to fall asleep. Last evening, I got all comfy in my lounge chair to do a bit of crocheting, and before long I was asleep. Even Pogo had a good long sleep.
Today we will have a lazy day. Later DIL Janet will come by after work and we will have supper together. Hmmm, what shall I make? I think figuring that out will be my biggest project for today.
I have a couple of wonderful new scrapbook layouts to share that my friend Kyra made for me. Kyra, these are gorgeous. I showed them to Deanne and she just loves them too.
The top layout was made using Kyra's kit "Steampunk", a freebie on her blog on February 2014. The second layout was made with her kit "Summer Explosion" a freebie from this month. Do visit her blog and check out all these beautiful scrapbook kits.
I'm thinking that soon I will use my photo book coupon and have all these gorgeous layouts printed in a book. Or maybe two! It's also getting close to time for a new Blog book. Actually, I haven't done one for the last four months of 2014, so I will have to have that one printed too. I guess I'll be busy here for a while getting caught up.
Well, that's my news for today. It's time to do a couple things around the house, maybe some laundry. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a spectacular day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Congratulations Jazzy
June 24, 2014
Good afternoon. This morning was a happy event at Jazzy's school. It was a "moving on" ceremony for the eighth graders at Jazzy's school. In September, they'll all be headed for high school. Congratulations to Jazzy and all the kids who worked hard to get to this day.
Here's a photo of Jazzy that proud Momma, Deanne, took with her cell phone.
I also have another photo taken a couple of weeks ago of Jazzy and one her teammates holding the trophy that their softball team earned for their school. They played the whole season undefeated. Super playing, girls.
Brother Kevin made it on to the All Star baseball team. Pogo and I are looking forward to going to one of his games this week.
Well, that's all the news for today. My little Pogo is waiting patiently for me to make him some lunch. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Mandarin Orange Monday
June 23, 2014
Good morning. I looked out the window a little before 5 a.m. this morning, and noticed how one side of the field across the street was filled with mist, but not the other side. Mist and fog move quickly, so I got my little camera and went outside to get some photos.
A few minutes later, while I was looking at the photos, I looked out the window and saw that the mist was moving across to the other side of the field. So, out I went again to take more photos. It's interesting to watch how the mist moves and covers the land.
While I was outside, I took a few shots of the moon too. It was just a sliver, but oh so pretty against the light blue sky.
Today is Mandarin Orange Monday, and I thought I would join in again. I used one of my robin photos and changed the background with textures and a gradient. It's sort of like he is sitting by the end of the rainbow looking over his domain. Lucky bird.

It hasn't been a bad night here at work, as the Mrs has been behaving fairly well. Still, I will be happy to see seven o'clock come around and I can head on home. I miss my little Pogo when I am away from home.
Last night I worked a bit more on the navy afghan, and now it is about one third done. I don't put very many rows on here at work because I get a lot of interruptions, but every row gets me closer to the finish. As for the suggestion to sell these on Etsy, I think that would take the fun out of making them. I don't have to make the ones I'm making. But they are for people I love, so it is fun and relaxing. But who knows? Making some day when I have so many piled up with no one to give them to. lol.
I've been thinking about how I want my afghan to be when I start making it. I'm thinking that I'll make it more blanket sized. Hmmm, rather ambitious. I'm not ready to do this yet, so there's still plenty of time to change my mind.
Lately I've been thinking I might like to make a few pieces of jewelry for a couple of folks on my holiday list. So, over the weekend, I gathered up some of my tools and maybe tomorrow I'll see what I can make. This will be a nice change of pace.
I'm looking out the window now, and the mist is all gone. The field across the street is now flooded with sunlight. I guess we're in for another beautiful day here in my little part of the world. On that note, it's time for me to put my things away and go check on the Mrs again. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

It's Summer Time Already
June 22, 2014
Good morning. What a gorgeous weekend we are having here in New England. Tis sunny with a slight breeze, and the temps are just right. What a great way to start the new season. Yup, it's already summer, and in another week we'll be celebrating the Fourth of July. Wow, this year is just slipping away.
Some of the garden plants are starting to perk up and blossom. The rhodies have bloomed and gone by, but the roses are putting on a splendid color show. Here's a photo of Joe tending to the garden, and a couple photos of the blooms.
This week I'll take photos of the veggies. They are starting to get little flowers now, so pretty soon we'll be seeing little peppers, cukes, squash and tomatoes. Nothing beats picking dinner from the garden!
Well, last night was a work night, and the Mrs did behave most of the evening. Hopefully that's a good sign and she'll behave tonight too. After she went to bed last night, I was able to work on the navy blue afghan for a while. I am working on three different afghans at the moment, so whichever one is the smallest is the one I take with me to work.
If I can finish all three afghans before August, I'll be quite happy. That will give me plenty of time to work on some new projects. I also want to make myself an orange afghan. I love Pogo's little afghan, but I need one just a little bigger for me.
I just took a short break to go outside and spread around a bowl full of peanuts and sunflower seeds for all the birdies and little critters. I wasn't quite back inside when they all came out to gather up all the new goodies.
I took a few photos from the kitchen window and picked out one to share. It's not quite clear, but it shows a couple of sparrows eyeing each other as they get ready to dine at the feeder. They are so darn cute!!
I'll go through the other photos and pick out some to share tomorrow. I'll get a few shots of the pink rose tree too. It is getting quite full and has lots of blossoms. Unfortunately, it looks like I definitely killed my beautiful yellow rose tree by cutting it back too severe and at the wrong time of year. I'll leave it in hopes that maybe next year it might come back. We'll see.
Well now it's time to do a couple of things around here before it's naptime for this adorable little old lady. I want to play with Pogo for a while too. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Birthday to Bobby and Gary Jr.
June 20, 2014
Good morning. The sun is shining and it's looking like another gorgeous day here in New England. It's been a week for happy events in our family. Our first grandchild Bobby, had a birthday (# 34, I think), and my son Gary Jr's birthday is today. Happy Birthday guys, I love you.
Proud Mom and Dad took Bobby out to dinner for his birthday, along with his two younger siblings Jasmine and Kevin. Here's a couple of family photos. The first is Dad (Eddie) with Kevin, Bobby and Jasmine. The second photo is the proud Mom and Dad (Dee Dee and Eddie) with the Birthday Boy, Bobby. Bobby is my oldest grandchild and Kevin and Jasmine are my youngest grandchildren.
The other happy event was Jasmine's graduation from middle school. In September she will be a Freshman in high school, while her brother Kevin will be a Senior at the same school. Here are a couple of photos of Jasmine in her first semi-formal.
The first photo is Jazzy (on the right) with her friend Aisha, friends since 5th grade. The second photo is Jazzy with her friend Cole, friends since kindergarten. Congratulations kids. You all look so beautiful. I wish you much happiness and success in life.
Does it sound like I'm bragging? You betcha I am!! Who'd have thought way back when we were young ourselves that we would be leaving behind such a huge beautiful family? These photos only show part of it. This next photo is me and my kids' father taken way way back in the beginning. Gosh, I was only five years older than Jazzy in this photo. Seems like such a long time ago.
Okay, enough bragging and reminiscing for today. There is laundry waiting to be washed. I may even try to evict a few more dust bunnies today. Later today, I may even treat Pogo and myself to a steak for supper. Yum!
On that note, I shall take my leave and get busy here. So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.
Hugs, Edna B.

On that note, I shall take my leave and get busy here. So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

A Nice Surprse In My Mail Box
June 19, 2014
Good morning. Sorry about not posting yesterday, but I had no phone or internet again until around 3 p.m.. This is the second time in a week that this has happened. Needless to say, I called the cable company to let them know how upset I was. After about a thirty minute go-round with someone who could barely speak English, I finally told him to have a repair man to my house before the afternoon was over.
Mid afternoon, the cable repair man showed up and told me right away what my problem was even before he came into the house. He said that my modem was at the end of it's life, and that the company should have notified me about it before it started causing problems. He took out the bad modem and put in a new one. Voila! After about thirty more minutes, my phone and internet were working again. Yeahhhhh!
I have something nice to share with you. Yesterday I received a beautiful scrap page in my email from Nani, featuring her new afghan. Folks, doesn't she have a most beautiful smile? Thanks, Nani. It really brightened up my whole day.
The last couple of days have been sunny and hot, hot, hot. Today, however, is gorgeous! It's cloudy, almost 80 F degrees, and there's a nice cool breeze. Perfect! Well, at least for this old lady. I think it's supposed to be like this for the next few days. Sighhhhhhhh. It feels so gooooood!
The other day I took some photos (through the kitchen window) of baby sparrows sitting way up on a tree branch waiting for their Mom to bring them food. It's such fun to watch all the different baby birds.
DIL Janet came by yesterday after work, and we enjoyed a really nice visit. After supper, we took up our crocheting. The afghan she is making for me is just gorgeous! I had already finished the raspberry afghan, so I started a second red, white and blue one. Now I have three different ones started to work on. They should keep me busy for a few weeks.
Today I'll probably do a load of laundry and maybe chase some dust bunnies around. Later this afternoon, I'll take Joe food shopping. Right now, Pogo and I are going to watch Thomas And His Friends (on TV). So, on that note I'll take my leave. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a splendid day.

A Pattern For You To Try
June 17, 2014
Good morning. It's not quite summer yet, but the temperatures are moving in here. All this week, the temps will be in the low to mid eighties F. Lots of sunshine with a little rain mixed in here and there is what the weather man is calling for.
Yesterday's weather was quite nice but I spent most of the time resting and catching up on some sleep. I did not even make it out to go shopping. Ah well, maybe today. I did work on the raspberry afghan a bit. I thought I would finish it, but alas I did not. Today, however, it will get finished because there are only five rows left to do on it.
I thought I would post the pattern for this afghan in case anyone wants to try making one. If you do, please send a photo. I'd love to see it.
RIPPLE AFGHAN
Medium weight yarn (worsted) #4
3,470 yards total.
I buy 6 super saver Red Heart (364 yds ea.) and 6 multi color Red Heart super saver (244 yds ea,)
I use a K crochet hook, and work with double strands throughout.
Chain 160 loosely. I tie a little piece of scrap yarn near the beginning of Row 1 to mark the RIGHT side.
Row 1: (right side) SC in second CH from hook, and in next 9 CH's. 3 SC in next CH, SC in the next 10 CH's. **skip next two CH's, SC in next 10 CH's, 3 SC in next CH, SC in next 10 CH's; Repeat from ** across. (161 sts)
Row 2: CH 1, turn. WORKING IN BACK LOOPS ONLY, pull up a loop in first 2 SC, YO and draw through all 3 loops on hook (counts as one SC), SC in next 9 SC, 3 SC in next SC, **SC in next 10 SC, skip next 2 SC, SC in next 10 SC, 3 SC in next SC. Repeat from ** across to last 11 sts. SC in next 9 SC, pull up a loop in last two SC, YO and draw through all 3 loops on hook (counts as one SC).
Repeat Row 2 till desired length. I've been doing 106 rows (10 rows of solid color, and 6 rows of multi color, ending with 10 rows of solid color).
There's not much news for today. In a little while, Pogo and I are going to head out to do some errands and enjoy some sunshine. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Mary Mary, Quite Contrary, How Does Your Garden Grow?
June 16, 2014
Tis Monday morning, and I'm at work. The temperature is around 62 F degrees, and will be up to about 74F degrees later today. Another two and a half hours, and I can head on home. Woo Hoo! I love Monday mornings!
After yesterday morning's workout, I was finally able to curl up in my lounge chair and get a few winks. After an episode like yesterday's, my little guy waits for me to settle down, either at the computer or in my lounge chair. Then he comes over and snuggles against my leg and looks up at me with that "Do you still love me?" look. Oh boy, I'm done for! Of course I have to pick him up and cuddle.
Later today, I'm hoping to do a bit of shopping. I need to pick up a few more clothing items for daughter Laura Jean, and then I want to stop by The Dollar Store. They always have some very good buys. Dwarf Helen picked up a bathroom cleaner there for only $1 that works so much better than the more expensive brand item that I've been using. They also have these wonderful plastic water bottles, and they too are only $1 each. Can't beat a great price!
Today I thought I'd post a few photos from my garden. The first two photos are gorgeous irises, and the last photo is one of the pink peonies.
Some plants aren't doing as well this year, but I blame that on the wicked weather we've had all year. Hopefully, they will all be doing much better next year. Even the roses aren't doing as well as they have in the past. I'm thinking that maybe this week, Joe can give the gardens a healthy dose of vitamins and plant food.
Gosh, the Mrs has been so good all last evening and throughout the night, but now she is getting quite cranky. I feel so bad for the person coming on when I leave. It makes for a very long day when the Mrs goes on a rampage. (Now that's a word you don't hear very often any more!)
I think today I'll finish off the raspberry afghan, then I'll take a photo of it. That will make seven afghans finished. Plus Pogo's small one. When I finish up all the Christmas (they were going to be for birthdays but I changed my mind.) afghans, I have another pattern that I want to try. I think I'll start making some squares with the left over yarns too, and later make a large spread with them.
Because it's Mandarin Orange Monday, I thought I'd like to see what my iris would like if it were a beautiful orange color. Oh my, this is gorgeous. I planted an orange iris bulb a couple of years ago, but to date, it has never appeared. Hmmm, perhaps it was one of the bulbs that the critters ate?

Happy Fathers' Day
June 15, 2014
Good morning, and Happy Fathers' Day to all the fathers everywhere. Pogo certainly started his Fathers' Day by giving himself a thorough clean-out. God bless him, he had the squirts all over the living room carpet, scatter rugs, everywhere!!! I know, that's more information than you needed to know.
This was not how I planned to start my day. I will most likely have to have the carpet cleaned again later when the warm weather is here to stay. I cannot kneel, so crawling around the floor is not exactly fun for me.
No, I did not yell at him or hit him. I never do. I wagged my finger at him and told him he is very naughty. When he came out of hiding, I put him in the bathroom sink and give him a bath. Then I took him out to the main house and left him with Joe so that I could proceed to crawl around my floor with a spray bottle of cleaner and a roll of paper towels.
During all this time, my coffee and breakfast was sitting on the counter getting cold. Oh happy day!! Well, I ate it cold. Scrambled eggs, fried potatoes and sausage always tastes good when it is cold. Right? It does if you have a Pogo. After breakfast, it was time to wash two loads of scatter rugs.
On to a more fun topic, last night's moon was awesome. After the Mrs was tucked into bed, I went outside to take a few photos of the moon. These were taken with my Canon SX50.
I also have a photo of one of my new flowers. It's a spider lily and it's just gorgeous. Now I wish we had planted more of them.
Maybe later this afternoon I'll take a few photos of the white rhodies that are in bloom in my garden, as well as the white peonies. We'll see. It depends on how much energy I have left after I finish the scatter rug laundry.
Well, that's about it for this morning. Hopefully your day will go much better than the way mine started out. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Pogo Says "Why Eat Chicken When You Can Have Steak?"
June 13, 2014
Good morning. Today it's quite gray and wet here in New England. We are having rain showers on and off all day. I'm thinking that today will be another lazy day. Yesterday I only did a bit of laundry and gathered more papers to shred. In the afternoon, I took Joe food shopping.
At the market, I picked up a roasted chicken in hopes of enticing Pogo to eat all of his supper. Would you believe? He turned up his nose at it. Some days there is no pleasing this little guy.
Last night I thought I would do a bit of crocheting, but I fell asleep. Hmmm, all that food shopping must have worn me out. lol! Unfortunately, that meant that I woke up around 3:45 a.m.
For some reason, both Pogo and I had the "wicked hungries" so I went looking in the refrigerator to see what we could eat. There were two strip steaks that I had thawed out, so I figured why not. Just before 4:30 a.m., Pogo and I sat down to a very tasty steak breakfast. Mmmm, Mmmm. Pogo licked his plate clean! After that, it was back to bed time for a few more winks.
I got a lovely surprise in my email this morning. There was a wonderful scrap layout featuring one of the doggie pictures that I had posted earlier. Thank you so much Carolyn. I love surprises. The background on this layout is just fabulous.
I have another photo to share with you. This one was taken by daughter Audrey with her cell phone when she was on her way to work a couple mornings ago. The rising sun was so big and beautiful against the coral and pink sky. What a super shot, Audrey!
Today I was hoping to take some photos in my garden, but I may wait till this weekend when the sun is shining, The prolonged cold season and extra rainfall has not been good for most of my plants. Especially the rose bushes. My rhodies, however, are looking fabulous.
Well, that's about it for this morning. Now I'll go see what sort of mischief I can get into today. Till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

A Wonderful New Law!
June 12, 2014
Good morning. Well, yesterday was certainly a busy day. As I look around me, I'm not sure what exactly it was that I accomplished, but I was busy. At least my shred box is filling up. Today I will go through a lot more of the paper "things" that I have stashed away over time, and hopefully my shred box will be overflowing when I finish.
I did spend some time on-line searching for a manual for my little camera, but alas, there is no such book yet. I will keep watching, and as soon as one is available I will get a copy. Meanwhile I guess I will have to put in the disc and pull up the PDF file. I can print out the sections on Macro and motion.
Yesterday's newspaper had a very interesting article titled "Making sure Fido is safe in a storm." A new Massachusetts law will require all communities to incorporate pets into emergency evacuation and shelter plans for when severe storms and disasters strike.
Many of our communities already accommodate our pets at makeshift shelters during these crisis times. This new law will help to ensure the safety of people with pets in disasters, as many pet owners will not evacuate unless they can bring their pets. I am one of those people, and I say "Yeah! It's about time!"
I have a photo from the web to share that reminds me so of Pogo. Whenever a spot of sunshine comes in through the window he will curl up on the floor and soak up the sunshine. Just like all these adorable doggies.
I'm watching the Weather Channel, and they are showing photos of a "wall cloud". Wow! I saw one of these years ago while I was in Florida, but I never knew what it was. I will say that it was really scary. I was driving my car, and when I looked out the side window all I could see was a black cloud that came all the way down to the ground.
Here's a photo I downloaded from Google to show you what this wall cloud looks like. It actually comes all the way down to the ground.
Well, that's my news for this morning. So far, the weather is looking quite cloudy outside my window. I think I'll leave it out there. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

Info About The Canon PowerShot SX50 HS
June 11, 2014
Good afternoon. Sorry for my late post but I have not had any internet or house phone all day until just now. I did call the cable company this morning, but they were just going to send out a service man some time in the near future. I said "don't bother, I'll pay someone I trust to check out my equipment."
Then I called Wayne. Now I have to call him back because the service has been mysteriously turned back on. Hmmmmm, makes me wonder just what the problem may have been.
I had a request for more information about the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS, so here is a bit of data about this camera.

Dimensions: 4.82" W x 3.44" H
Weight: 19.4 oz.
Focal Length (35mm equivalent) 24-1200mm
Optical Zoom 50x
Digital Zoom 4.0x
Built-in flash, Optical Image Stabilizer
12.8 Megapixels
Approximate price: $400 - $430 (usually on sale for around $400)
The only thing I'm not happy about is that the user manual is a PDF file on a disc. I prefer to have a paper manual that I can hold in my hand while I try to learn the functions on the camera. It's not convenient to always have to pop a disc into my laptop to try to look up something. Other than that, this is a fabulous little camera.
That's about it for today. I'm on a clean-up binge and it's best if I don't stop for long. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

The SX50 Has An Awesome Zoom Lens
June 10, 2014
Good morning. It's 6:10 a.m. and it is cloudy and damp. But it is warm. Today is supposed to be cloudy and near 80 F degrees with scattered rain showers. It was nice last night that I was able to leave the window open a bit all night.
I have the neatest photos to share this morning. Yesterday morning when I was putting my things in my car (to go home), I noticed a speck of movement on the barn roof. To my surprise, there was a robin sitting up there. So I grabbed my camera and took some photos with the lens zoomed out.
Wow, what great shots! Then I took a couple shots of the scene so that you could see how far away the barn and the robin were. Even though I haven't learned how to use all the functions on this Canon Power Shot SX50 HS, it definitely can take nice photos.
This first photo shows the distance to the barn. (The gray and red building way behind the beauty bush.) I have put a circle around where the robin is perched, with an arrow pointing to the robin.
Next are two shots of the robin. I am so impressed at how good the zoom is on this little camera.
Today I'm going to see if Amazon has a book on how to use this camera. If they do, I'm going to order one. I want to learn more about how to take macro and motion shots with this camera.
Yesterday I finished the brown afghan, wrapped it up and put it away with the others. Then I got the navy blue afghan started. First, I was curious how the colors would look together. Second, I like to have more than one started so that I if I start to get bored, I put one down and pick up another. Here's a photo of how the navy blue afghan is looking.
Sunday, I picked up a bottle of the new "Amish Secret" furniture polish (as seen on TV), and today I'm going to try it out. The ad says that this polish makes it harder for the dust bunnies to accumulate. I hope so because I'm not thrilled with chasing after them all the time.
Today is also a good day to do some more shredding. I don't like to toss things out before removing any personal information that might be on them. Although I often wonder if this really helps. I mean, when you mail something your return address is on it. Do you suppose the recipient of the piece of mail is also shredding things with your information on them? Hmmm, food for thought.
Well, that's it for this morning. Now I'm going to see if I can tempt little Mr. Pogo to eat his breakfast. So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Super Weather As A New Week Begins
June 9, 2014
Good morning. It's a bit cloudy , but it's early yet. The sky is turning a pretty blue, and the weather channel says we should have a rather nice day with a possibility of a few rain showers later in the day. It should be like this most of the week. I can handle this! The birds are chirping and singing outside the window here, and it is better than music.
Last night, the Mrs was behaving rather well, and then once she was tucked into her bed, her wicked side came out of hiding. On and off all through the night, she would call me into her room for no reason other than to argue and talk sharp. At one point she asked me for a cup of milk. When I took the milk in to her, she laughed at me and said "What is wrong with you? That's not for me, it's for the cat." There is no cat, so I put the glass of milk in the refrigerator.
Finally around 2 a.m. she dropped off to sleep. Thank goodness! By now, I was too tired to crochet, so I played solitaire on my laptop. Thank goodness there was something interesting to watch on the cooking channel. I got to watch a couple of programs that I had missed.
Seven a.m. is my favorite part of the week. I get in my little blue car and head on home to my little dog. My work week is done till next weekend.
The Mrs' peonies are all getting ready to burst into bloom but I will miss them because they will have gone by before I get back here. Her beauty bush, however, is chock full of blossoms and is just beautiful.
I have a fabulous little image from the web, and I just have to share it with you. It's message is definitely super!! See if you don't agree. If this really works, I should be thin again before the summer is over. You think?
Mrs is starting to talk in her sleep again so I need to go check on her. I'll leave you with one more adorable image from the web. This Aunty Acid is sooooooo smart!!
That's all for this morning, Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
Hugs, Edna B.

A Freebie For You
June 8, 2014
Good morning. I'm at work, but will soon be heading home. It's been a pretty good night. The Mrs is behaving rather well. Last night after she was asleep, I got to work for a while on a new lavender afghan. Here's a peek at how pretty this one is.
This morning is looking to be another fabulous day, warm and sunny. Yesterday Joe put in the screens to the storm doors. Now we can let some of this warm fresh air into the house.
Hopefully, today SIL Eddie and Joe will be able to do some remodeling work on one of the bathrooms in the house. We need to put in a new tub surround and possible a new vanity. Add to this, some new paint for the ceiling and walls, and it will be looking rather spiffy again.
Now that the warm weather is getting here, it will be nice to spend more time out in the yard. That is, after we load up on mosquito spray and citronella candles. I have yet to figure out why we need to have mosquitos, ticks and fleas. The ants are out in force again too. I was told that by sprinkling coffee grounds all around the house foundation, that the ants would not cross it to enter my house. I've already bought two large cans of coffee grounds, and I think it's time to sprinkle it around the house.
It's almost time for me to pack up my things to head on home. I promised you a freebie, so today I have a packet of backgrounds made from one of my images. The link will only be up until the end of the month. Enjoy.
