Gosh, If Mother Could See Me Now!!

September 3, 2015

Good morning.  It's super nice outside at the moment.  Unfortunately, by the time Pogo and I get to our appointment at the car dealership later this morning it will be hot and sticky.  Ah, but the good news is that it is supposed to start a cool down this evening and tomorrow should be in the 70's.  It's only for one day, but I'll take it!

I've been sitting here trying to think of what it was that kept me so busy all day yesterday.  Aside from doing one load of laundry, I'm stumped!  But I was busy, honest!  Well, I did spend some time on my laptop, and about an hour reading the new catalogues that came in the mail.  Hmmm.

Gosh, if my mother could see me now, she'd roll over in her grave.  As kids, my brother and I were not allowed to just sit around doing nothing very often.  We had chores to do besides keeping our room spotless.  Plus we had to wash our own laundry in the sink with a scrub board, hang it out to dry, iron it and put it away.  And believe me, everything got ironed.  Hankies, undies, pillow cases and sheets, everything!  When we were finished, we made a mad dash to the park to be with our friends.

I found a wicked fun photo on Facebook that I just had to share here.  It's a "riding lawnmower" that is for sale.  Jeff Foxworthy had something to do with this, and I wouldn't be surprised if this were his own "riding" lawnmower.  Anyhow, I had me a wonderful giggle over this.  It's just too funny!

Last night I watched the shopping channel, QVC, for a while and purchased a "Leaf Blower, Mulcher, Vacuum."   It comes with two bags, safety glasses and a wall hanger unit for storing it.

We've already been having some leaves falling from the trees.  My property is surrounded by trees, so you can imagine the amount of leaves that we have to rake up and bag every year.   Just filling one of these mulch bags is equal to filling sixteen trash bags with leaves.  And, the mulch can be used in the gardens.   Another plus is that is will vacuum up and mulch pine needles too!

A couple days ago, Pogo got a really nice surprise in our email.  His friend Cisco, who lives in Texas, sent him a wonderful scrap layout wishing him a beautiful day.  Cisco, Pogo says "thank you so much" and sends you a woof and a big lick.  He hopes your day is fabulous too.

I can't chat too long this morning because we'll leaving for our appointment in a little while.  It's just a routine maintenance check up for the car to make sure it is ready for the upcoming winter.   Before I go, I want to thank Stacey for her success story regarding yesterday's post.  It's always good to hear of someone who had the will power and the strength to find their way back from a life on drugs.

Now I'm off to wash the dishes and get dressed.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

It took a while to learn to do nothing and not be overwhelmed by guilt....but I think I've finally mastered it.

Oh Edna, I'm sorry to hear that your brain didn't want to let go of August and kept you up to start the month!

I'm getting a slow start on September because yesterday was a Cleveland day for me. I met with a new specialist to work on the spasticity in my legs who increased one of the drugs and assigned some therapy and my neurologist is helping to get the stopped ball rolling again on my chair upgrade. It was a good day for me, notsomuch for David; the MS center depresses him because he looks at other patients with their spouses that are in worse shape than me and thinks "that's our future." Of course you can't look at someone else as a crystal ball, especially not with MS, but he's been down a lot lately and I'm trying to get me a Nani-sitter so I can send him on a solo vacation.

On a much brighter note, is the leaf-bower cordless? I'd love to get a battery powered leaf blower. Even if it's heavy, I could put it on my lap and use it in my chair. I'd love that because I can blow the leaves out of my flower beds too.

I hope everything is good and your car is ready for another winter. (bleh!) I hope you and Pogo don't melt in the process!

Hugs, Nani

What a cute little card Pogo received. I'd love one of those mulchers, especially if they do pine needles. we're still around 100, but this weekend will be nice at about 92, till we unfortunately go back up to around 99 again the rest of the week. I so want cooler weather. I'm so glad we didn't have to iron everything when I was young. I hate ironing! I rather scrub the toilet - LOL!

Leaf blower, mulcher, vacuum ... wow, I hope it works as well as it sounds. I am guessing Joe will be giving it a trial run when it gets to you. I would like to know more about it (guess I could look it up on the internet). If it really works, I may have to look into it because, like you, I am surrounded with trees ... sadly most of my trees are Oaks and they don't shed until it is well into winter and sometimes has snowed, so we end up raking in the spring ... raking wet leaves, ugh!.

About Narcan ... it is a wonderfully effective product. I have seen it used in the ER and the results are immediate so I am all for using it. But, I also think we need to put more effort into treating people with drug additions and also get rid of the "war on drugs" that has filled our prisons with non violent affenders. You talk about a waste of tax payer money ... that is it. Our country has more prisoners In our jails then Europe, China and Russia put together. We are so far off track on so many issues in this country ... it is truly disappointing. So enough rant ...my heart goes out to your friend Nani ... MS is a difficult disease. I keep hearing that the treatments are improving, I am not seeing a big change in how it progresses, though. I wish her well ... So I am off to do some errands. Izzi is have allergy issues. I tried to get her in today for a oatmeal bath, but they were full, so she has to wait until Tuesday. Poor baby has had a hard summer. Hopefully when we get some cooler fall weather, she will do better. Be well, my friend and hugs to Pogo ...
