They're Coming With That Big Fat Check!

January 8, 2019

Good morning.  I've been up a while but I had a few things to do.  First I had to call Blog2Print about the new blog book that I tried making yesterday.  I got the book assembled, but then either Google or the web page or goodness knows what happened and I could not get access to my book.  I  tried contacting the company but there was a problem there too and I had to leave a message.

This morning I called and one of their staff tried to find the problem.  Somewhere, somehow, something went wrong and now I have to set up a new account.  Of course, this means that I will not have access to any of my past books.  Whatever file they were on at the company had gotten corrupt.

The good news is that whenever I buy my new blog books, I also buy the PDF copy.  I do have all of these copies on file.  This new book will make book #26.  That's all eleven years of blogging.  This new year begins my twelfth year.

Does the word "twelfth" look funny?  I just looked it up to find out why it has an "f" in it.  According to Dictionary.com, the "f" takes the place of the "ve."  Every now and then a word will look a bit weird to me, so I look it up.

Are you ready for another photo of my little guy Pogo?  Here he is napping on the sofa in front of his new tent bed while I'm busy on my laptop.  Sorry about the colors, but the lamp light tends to change the colors a bit.

I meant to share this item with everyone before Christmas, just in case you have friends who are hard to buy for.  It's something everyone can use and it doesn't take up much room in the pantry.  It would come in quite handy during emergencies.

I'm not sure who thinks these things up, but they sure do have a clever mind!  It does make a person wonder though just how many people would actually go looking to buy this.

Today's temp is 32F degrees and it is overcast.  No sun, just dreary and breezy.  However, Spring is only seventy two more days away!  Plus, in less than two months, Pogo and I will be relaxing in sunny Florida for two weeks.  We'll get back just in time to welcome Spring to our area.

Are you getting annoyed at the Publishers Clearing House spokesman on TV telling us that we can win tons and tons of money real soon?  Normally this would not annoy me, but they've been telling me this very same thing for years now.  Hardly a day goes by without something from them coming in the mail saying "Just one more order, please.  You are so close to winning it all!"

Speak of the devil, the mail just came and yup!  There's another envelope from Publishers Clearing House telling me to watch for another envelope that should arrive by tomorrow.  It says they really want to bring me that big fat check.  Okay, and while they're at it I might be interesting in buying a swamp.

I have one more photo to share with you.  This one was posted on Facebook by a friend.  I just love nature and animals.  This deer family is really beautiful.  I would love to have been there to see these gorgeous animals.

Now it's time for me to get busy around here.  There are dishes in the sink just crying out for me to wash them.  So I guess that's where I'll start.  I was going to make some fudge brownies the other day but I didn't, so that will be on today's agenda too.  Maybe.  We'll see.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Brrr! It's Fuzzy Sock Weather

January 7, 2019

Good afternoon.  My goodness, I'm late getting started today.  Sleep wasn't coming to me during the night.  I would put on the light and read for a while, and then try to sleep again.  Nope, no sleep.  However, by the time daylight was breaking, my body finally drifted off to sleep.

Today is sunny and cold.  Only 25F degrees.  Tis a great day to work on my new blog book.  My coupon runs out tomorrow so I need to get hustling.  38% off is a great coupon, and I'm not one to pass up a great coupon especially when I'm planning on buying the product anyway.

Yesterday I did not go out to shop because daughter Deanne called to say that she was going shopping and would pick up some things for me.  So I stayed in and started to read my new book. "The Other Side Of The Bay."  This book was written by Sean Dietrich.  It's a mystery that takes place in the Panhandle, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the book.  If you want it, you can find it on Amazon.

Sean has written several books, so now I'm looking to buy another one.  This time I think I'll get "Lyla."  I may just get this one in Kindle form.  I do prefer an actual paper book, but I don't really have lots of room to be collecting more books.

One of the catalogues that I get has the cutest tee shirts.  The next time this catalog comes in the mail, I'll take a photo of it  to share in case anyone wants to subscribe to it.  Here is one shirt that I think is just adorable!

This picture reminds me of myself.  This is why I don't get things done in the time frame that I set.  Can you tell I love the squirrels?  Yes, they are really pesky, but they are so darn cute to watch.

Today's mail brought more catalogues and the memory wire that I purchased from JTV a few days ago.  Later today I'll try to gather some ideas on how to use this memory wire.  First, I want to tend to my blog book.

My feet are beginning to feel a bit like popsicles.  There is only a crawl space beneath the floors in my part of the house, so when the temps go way down like this, the cold seems to come right up through the floors.  I guess I'll put on my long fuzzy socks and turn my little heater on for a while.

One of the catalogues that came in today's mail is the "Burgess Spring 2019 Garden Catalog."  I don't know why I love looking at these catalogues.  I can't get out and do the garden work anymore.  I'm thinking that I might hire someone this year just to tend the gardens for me.

Well, I think I'd best sign off now and get started on a few things around here.  The first being my blog book.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Happy Birthday Jazzy

January 6, 2019

Good morning.  Today is looking really pretty.  The sun is shining, temps are working their way up to the low forties, the rain has stopped and their is no wind.  Just a real beautiful Winter day.   My car is covered with frost but I can run it for a few minutes and all the frost will be melted.

Yesterday was Jazzy's birthday.  Would you believe?  She's nineteen years old already!  Happy Birthday Jasmine.  I hope your special day was simply awesome.  I love you.

Hopefully, today I'll be able to go out and do a bit of grocery shopping.  These past couple of days have been very lazy for me.  I've had absolutely no energy.  Maybe it's just the January blues.  I called my cousin this morning, and she's been down in the dumps lately too.  Although, she's in a nursing facility and that's probably why she is having the blues.

Winter time means that we have to stay indoors most of the time.  This leads to depression and the blues.  So it is understandable that so many of us start our countdown to Spring once the new year begins.  Just seventy four more days my friends, just seventy four more days.  Plus, every day is now getting just a bit longer.  Pretty soon it will be Springtime!

How many of you watched the video on Facebook of the woman reading "The Wonky Donkey."  I went online looking to buy this book and guess where I found it?  Yup, Amazon had it, and the price was quite reasonable.  It was to be a gift to a friend of mine.  I have to say, it really made her Christmas a fun day.

A few days ago, I picked up a few new scrap kits and had fun making new quick pages.  Today's quick page has just a touch of an "old fashioned" look to it.  I hope you can use it.

Expired

This afternoon I will begin to expire the quick page links from September to December.  Then I can go online and make my new blog book.   If I can dig up some extra energy, I might even bake some fudge brownies.  Hmmm, we'll see.

Now I'm going to get dressed and hopefully push my self out the door to do a bit of grocery shopping.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

The Golden Years' Charm

January 4, 2019

Good morning.  Tis a pretty, sunny winter day here in New England.  Temps are in the mid thirties (37F) and heading for the mid forties.  If I can muster up the energy, I'll go out today to do a few errands.  If not, well, we'll see.

I got up early this morning, around 5 a.m. and paid a few bills.  I made myself a cup of coffee, but never got to drink it.  Instead, I fell back to sleep for a few hours.  I'm up now, but I'm tired.  That extra sleep took all my energy with it.

It's amazing how my mind and my body just don't ever seem to be on the same track anymore.  I used to be busy all the time.  Nowadays, I can sit and think about all the things I'd like do, and while I'm thinking my body gets tired out.  Thinking seems to use up a lot of energy.  Really?  How can this be?  I guess it's all just a part of the "golden years" charm.

Pogo got a post card in the mail from his doctor, telling him that it's time to make his check up appointment.  We need to make sure his shots are up to date and then we can get his new "okay to travel" letter for the plane ride to Florida.  So, I guess we'll call this afternoon to make his appointment.

I don't know if I need a new letter from my doctor about having my portable oxygen with me on the plane.  I'll have to call to see how often I have to do this .  I still have my letter from last year.  You would think that one letter would suffice, but in today's world, one never knows.

Here's another really neat tee shirt that I found in one of my catalogues.  This one's message is oh so true.  You're never alone when you have a pet.

I found a cute joke on the web to share with you.  Hope this one gives you a few giggles.

Now I need to start working on my new blog book.  My coupon is only good for a few more days.  On that happy note, I'll take my leave.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Just Fifty Nine Days Till Florida!

January 3, 2019

Good morning.  Temps are up a bit today.  Tis 37F degrees, working towards the low forties.  It's gray and wet at the moment, but it looks as though the sun is trying to shine down on us.  And, my heat is back on!  Woo Hoo!

It turned out to be a whole day job.  The workers showed up at 7:45 a.m. and did not leave until well after 5 p.m.  There were four men working, one being the electrician.  By 5 p.m. we also had hot water again.  You just don't know how much you need the hot water until it is gone.

Last night I did make a big pot of spaghetti and meat sauce, but DIL Janet was not here to help me eat it.  I had texted her earlier to let her know that we had no heat and that I did not know what time it would be back on.  We figured it would be best for her to come next week.  The last thing either of us needs right now is to catch a cold.

I got really chilled, but last night I got out the Alka Seltzer and made myself a drink of that.  I had a little heater, plus my electric blanket to help Pogo and me with the cold during the day.  I'm trying to stay healthy because in fifty nine days, Pogo and I will be in Florida.  Woo Hoo!

This year I need new tops to wear and probably some new Bermuda shorts. So, I'm hoping to do a bit of shopping while we're in Florida.  Even if it means sending my new clothes home in a box, that's okay.  I don't take my big suitcase with me anymore.  It's too heavy for me, so I'm learning to pack lighter and mail whatever doesn't fit in the suitcase.

I washed one of Pogo's little portable houses so that I can pack it in my suitcase.  He  loves to have little places to take naps in.  The little house and a couple small blankets will make my little guy one very happy little kid.

This week I want to do some serious airline ticket shopping.  I'll feel better knowing that our tickets are secured and paid for.  Next month, I'll reserve the rental car.  This year I'm really looking forward to going to Florida.  I just have to decide on whether to take Pogo's stroller or my walker.

If I take the walker, I'll be needing to buy a new folding basket to put on it for Pogo to ride in.  He has a basket now, but it does not fold up.  I'm concerned that if I take my walker with this basket on it, the basket will get bent or broken when it is put into cargo on the plane.  Ah, such a problem to think about!!

Do you love chickens?  I found these two adorable chicken items on the web and wanted to share them here.  This first one is a beautiful chicken wreath for your front door.  The second item is a chicken mug to inject a bit of humor into your morning coffee.

We have a house cat, and a lot of my friends and family have cats.  This next image is to remind us that there are a lot of kitty cats out there in shelters that are looking for their forever homes.  So please remember, don't shop, ADOPT.

Now I'm going to get a fresh cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading before starting in on my household chores.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

New Furnace Today

January 2, 2019

Good morning.  Today is sunny and cold, just 27F degrees working its way up to a high of 31F degrees.  I had a very early wake up call this morning.  It was the furnace guy calling to say that his men were on their way to my house to take out my furnace and install a new one.

Of course, there is more work being done too.  The hot water heater needs to be re-wired, and the emergency switch needs to be moved to a new location and then rewired.  Oh happy day, oh happy day!  This also means that there will be no heat in the house today until after all the work has been done.

Isn't it amazing how things work out?  This couldn't possibly have happened on a really warm day in July, could it?  A day with soothing warm breezes and all the windows opened?  No, of course not!  That would be no fun at all!

Today I have some photos to share that Mac, my SIL, has been taking while he is in Japan.  These are taken on his visit to Yokohama China Town.  Keep sending these photos Mac, they are beautiful.

Today I think I'll do a load or two of laundry.  Towels and a load of blankets.  I didn't get to do it all the other day.  Then I  think I'll make a meat sauce and cook up a pan of pasta.  Janet might be coming by tonight after work.  If the heat isn't back on though, I might just call and tell her to wait till next week.

I did get to play on my laptop for a while yesterday, so now I have a few new quick pages in my folder.  Here's the first one for this new year.  Enjoy.

Starting tomorrow, the temps are supposed to go up a bit.  I certainly hope so because I have to go out to do some errands.  And of course, it's time once again to start on those dratted taxes.  Hopefully, it won't be such a nasty job this year.

Several months ago, I bought a new adding machine.  Not a digital one.  It's one that uses paper rolls to keep track of your numbers.  I'm old fashioned.  It's easier for me to see any mistakes that I might make when my numbers are printed on the paper roll.  Now I don't have to add up all my columns of numbers with a pencil and paper.

I need to start making my new blog book because I have a super coupon, and it's only good for a few more days.  So if you haven't downloaded all the quick pages that you wanted, this would be a good time to do it.  I will be expiring them through the end of December in the next day or two.

I'm off now.  It's time to put a load of towels in the washing machine.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

January 1, 2019

Good morning, and Happy New Year to you.  Well, did any of you get to watch the fireworks displays last night?  I meant to.  I got all settled to.  I fell asleep.  Even Pogo fell asleep early.  We both woke up around 3 a.m.  Unfortunately, all the beautiful fireworks displays were over.

I made the best of the situation though, and made breakfast.  Pogo didn't want any.  Instead, he went back to sleep.  He looks pretty sharp too, wearing his new Patriots hoodie sweatshirt.  It's a little big on him, but once it is washed and dried, it will probably shrink down a bit.

Today I'm watching a Law & Order SVU marathon on TV.  I can do this while I'm going through all the junk mail, magazines and catalogues that I have set aside for today's project.  I should try to work on taking care of this mail stuff the day it comes.  I guess I can make that a resolution for this year.

I also have to make another resolution.  To work on exercising my left arm.  Because the handle for my lounge chair is on the right side of the chair, my right arm is the only arm to get lots of exercise.  So, now I have a fat left arm and a thinner right arm.  Not a pretty sight!  I do have the rubber exercise bands, so I guess I'll have to hook one of them up to something and start giving my left arm a daily workout.

I have a photo to share today.  This tree is simply fascinating.  I pass by it whenever I take Jazzy to the college and when I pick her up to go home.  One day I decided to pull over to the side of the street and try to get a photo of it.

And here' a close up of its amazing tree trunk.  Nature is simply awesome!

If I get a chance, I'll go back there one of these days with my Canon camera and try to get better photos.  Actually, I can't wait for a nice day when I can go out looking for things to photograph.  I really do miss doing that.

Well, that's it for today.  Before I go, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year.  I hope this new year is going to be a great year for all of us.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
