Sky Show

June 7, 2010
*
It's looks like it's going to be a lovely day. This morning is quite sunny and not too warm yet. This will be a short post because I am still at work. The Mrs. is still asleep, so I thought I would come in say hello. Besides, I have photos to share today.

Yesterday, it rained a little bit. Different places got different amounts of the wet stuff. In the late afternoon when I left for work, there were still a few drops of wet falling here and there, and the sun was trying desperately to peek out from behind some very dark clouds.

Have you ever really looked at the sky? I mean REALLY looked at it? There is a lot of beauty to be seen there. Clouds move really fast, and depending on which direction you are looking, the artwork keeps changing.

During the thirty minutes it took me to drive to work, the sky went from all shades and sizes of gray and black clouds, to patches of blue sky with sunlight. By 8p.m. the sky was mostly blue with soft white and light gray clouds. Then darkness. Quite an interesting show. Here are just a few of the photos I took to show you what I mean.

Aren't these just the neatest photos? Just so you don't worry, I didn't take any of these photos while my car was in motion. I actually pulled over to the side of the road and got out to shoot a few of these, and others were taken while I sat a red light. There were lots more photos, but there is only so much room here.
*
So now I will leave you and get started on my work here. Mrs. will soon be awake and wanting her breakfast. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

A CU Blog Train For You

June 6, 2010
*
Do you believe that in just a couple of weeks Summer will officially be here? I just can't get over how fast time is speeding by me. We've been having mostly summer weather here, but thank goodness today will be a bit cooler. Maybe even a bit wet.

Last night, just before the sun went down, everything outside had a weird pink glow to it. So I went outside and took some photos of the sky. Have a look here. In just a few minutes after I took the photo, it was quite dark outside.

The other day, when I returned from doing some errands, our little resident chipmunk "Chippy" was running around the yard gathering up seeds. I stayed in the car for a little while just shooting photos through the window so that I wouldn't scare him off. He is just the cutest little thing. Moo is rather attached to this little fellow. When Moo calls him, Chippy usually comes out to visit. So I made a couple of layouts with some of the photos that Chippy posed for. (At least he sat still and pretended to be posing. LOL.)
If you're looking for some new CU freebies, you might want to visit at Maitri's blog. She has joined a blog train, "Tequila Sunrise," and it is mostly all CU items. http://maitriscraps.blogspot.com. Whatever you download, don't forget to stop and say thank you.
*
I know this is a rather short post, but I am a bit tired this morning. So, after I have my coffee, I think a short nap will be in order. Maybe even a long one. That sounds good to me. So until tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

Will It Be Panties? Or Lipstick?

June 5, 2010
*
Ah, good morning everybody. We might be in for a bit of rain today. It's a bit gray outside and everything is wet. I got a most wonderful e-mail this morning that did my heart good. My friend said "Take a deep breath, let it all go, and go out and buy yourself some panties." Boy! Did that put a big smile on my face or what!!

It seems that this was advice I had given her some time ago in another situation. Instead of panties, she bought lipstick. And it worked! So, panties it is!!!!! Thanks, my friend!!

We have a new and fun challenge at the Magickal Scraps forum. Kyra came up with this one, and it really is fun. It also makes your imagination work overtime. This month we have to design a book cover for a romance novel. We could either re-design a published book, or make one up. I found a wonderful picture on the web, and worked up a story line and cover to match it. Here's my book cover.

Next, I want to work on the color challenge. The colors this month are bright and sunny. And of course, you get the resulting kit as a freebie. It's a win-win challenge.
*
Right now, I'm doing my laundry. Tonight starts my work week right through Monday afternoon. Hopefully, it will mean a whole new batch of photos too. The countryside offers a wonderful array of flora and fauna not found so readily in the cities and larger towns.
*
This next set of photos was taken at work, very early in the morning. This adorable little finch was sitting on a tree branch just waiting for his turn at the feeder.
*
A quick update on Howie. He's still at the hospital in the Alzheimer's unit, and doing just fine. He's quite a character, and manages to drive the nurses and aides crazy with his antics. Howie moves very quickly, and it's not an easy task to keep up with him.
*
Now I think I will sit back and enjoy my second cup of coffee, and just relax a bit. Maybe read the paper and browse through the sale flyers. Got to find a great sale on some pretty undies. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

I'm Angry and Hurt, But I Will Get Over It

June 3, 2010
*
Good morning everyone. It's still a bit gray outside, but then it's still a bit early, only a little after 8 am. I was going to write this post last night, but I thought better of it. I was so angry and hurt that I thought I had better sleep on my thoughts, and maybe I wouldn't be so angry come morning. It was the right thing to do.

You know, you can go through your whole life trying to please people, but there are some folks that you will never be able to please. You could shoot yourself, and they wouldn't even notice that you were gone. Some folks just aren't happy unless they are making everyone else around them miserable. The really sad part of this is that sometimes these people don't even realize how depressing they really are.

When I first started my blog, one of my daughters in law informed me that under no circumstances was I ever to put her or any of her children's pictures on my blog. Not in a scrap layout, not in any way. I was not to mention them, they did not exist as far as my blog went.

To date, I have respected her wishes. Until yesterday, when I posted wishes to my granddaughter (her oldest daughter). But note, I did not post any photo. Actually, I don't have any photos to post. I asked the kids for recent photos of them and they assured me they would send some. (they all live out of state) But mother stepped in and informed them that if they sent me photos I would most likely put them on my blog. So there will be no photos.

Now here's the part that really makes me angry. For the last year or two, these very same children have been allowed to have Facebook pages where they paste their photos for the whole world to see, right down to every last pervert. Mom thinks this is preferable to having the same photos put into a nicely scrapped layout and posted here.

So tell me, how many of you folks out there that actually do drop by to read my little blog are really perverts and child molesters? I can't think of one good reason why any pervert would want to read my blog. They have so much to look forward to on Facebook that they don't ever have to go blog-hopping to get their jollies.

Okay! Now that I have got all of that off my chest, I think I might even feel a bit better. I get tired of having to hold all of my feelings back just so certain folks don't get their feelings hurt.

Last night, I worked on, and finished, my layout for Week 5 at Journal Camp. This is the final week, and I must say that I have really enjoyed myself. I learned a lot about journaling and why it's important to scrapping and saving memories. Nani, if you ever decide to run another one, count me in!! Here's my layout. (Kiki's Place was the name of my ceramic store.)

And for being patient and letting me rant and rave and get a lot off my chest, I have a lovely freebie QP for you. This is one of my favorites. I hope you like it. Now I shall get started on this new day. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Happy Birthday Jessyca

June 3, 2010,
*
There is a light breeze this morning, but it's looking simply beautiful outside my window. I haven't been out there yet, as Miss Tootsie and I slept rather late this morning. Boy, did that ever feel good!!

Sometime today, I would like to get out and do a bit of shopping. I need to pick up some more stuff to get rid of ants. Those ants are everywhere, and I don't like bugs. (except for ladybugs) I've managed to find a couple of them in my house, and that has to stop. I watched a commercial on television that says their product is supposed to keep these pesky critters from coming into the house, so today I want to get some of it.

And of course, there are birthdays and such that I have to shop for. These past few years, I have managed to be late with just about everybody's birthday and anniversary. Mr B and I were a team. He would do the remembering, and I would do the shopping. So now my rememberer isn't quite as sharp, but eventually I do get there.

Today is my granddaughter Jessyca's birthday. She is seventeen, very beautiful, and extremely talented. Happy Birthday Jessyca. May all your hopes and dreams come true.

Yesterday morning when Tootsie and I got home, there were a couple of woodpeckers on one of the feeders. I took a few photos through the car window. Here's a photo of one of them busy having a feast on a birdie snack.
*

After a minute or so, he finally spotted me through the car window, and flew away, but I managed to capture this neat photo.

Now I really must get going here. Janet is on her way over to go shopping with me, and I think maybe I should put on some regular clothing. Shopkeepers here are not so keen on the shoppers coming in wearing nighties and pj's.
*
Moo brought me home a new tee shirt and a wonderful fleece jacket, but today it is too warm to wear the jacket. Maybe the tee shirt? We'll see. On the front of it, it says "Bite Me!" lol.
*
So that's it for this morning. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a really great day.

What's For Supper?

June 2, 2010
*
Miss Tootsie and I got back from her morning chemo appointment a little while ago, and I have been catching up on my emails and daily blog hops. As soon as I got here, I was able to get a couple of new photos of the little woodpecker at one of the feeders.

Shortly, we will be going out again, this time to the nail salon to have my nails done. I have a bandaid on one of my nails because I chipped it yesterday while I was trying to open a jar. I'm learning that it is not fun to type with bandaids on your fingers. lol.

I have a couple of photos to share today. The first one is another gorgeous Iris from the garden where I work. This one is in shades of purple.

This next photo shows a squirrel resting in the shade under the Butterfly Bushes. I think he has spotted me, and is getting ready to run.
I think when we get back from my appointment, I will start working on my week 5 JC layout. I seem to always be the last one to get mine posted. After that, I really should make friends with the vacuum cleaner. The dust bunnies are getting so big they are starting to roll about the place. (Just kidding!) Got to tidy up a bit. Daughter in law is coming for a visit and dinner. Hmmm, wonder what we'll have for supper? Maybe ham? Maybe subs?

It's time now to get ready to leave. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Feast Your Eyes On This Butterfly

June 1, 2010
*
Holy Moley!! It's already June!! That has got to be the fasted five months on record. If I'm not careful, Christmas will be here while I'm figuring out which summer plants to put in the garden!

Tootsie and I just got back from her morning chemo, so now the day is ours till 4:20 this afternoon when we go back for treatment #2. I hate to wish away days, but after tomorrow afternoon, we'll be good to go for another four weeks.

Have you noticed yet the new slideshow? We have another awesome kit for the month of June, so do visit the forum and start collecting all the pieces. This month's kit is titled "My Summer Garden" and Snowy was responsible for the theme and colors. I know you're going to like it.

Yesterday at work, I was able to get another batch of nice photos. Luck was with me, and the birds and the squirrels and chipmunks were willing to let me have a few nice shots. Also, there was a lovely blue butterfly just a sitting and waiting for me and my little ole camera. And what a beauty this one was!! Blue coloring on the backside of it's wings, and grayish-brown on the underside of the wings. Have a look here.

Is this a beauty? Or is this a beauty? Some days, I just get lucky. I even got a photo of Daddy Cardinal feeding his youngster. Either that or he was kissing Mommy Cardinal. I'll save that photo for tomorrow and you can decide for yourself.
*
Today we got our Week Five ( and final) assignment for Journal Camp. For this one, we have to scrap a layout of a memory or event that we feel is important for us to remember. However, the catch this week is that we cannot use any photos. Just background, journaling and embellishments. I will have to give some thought to this one. It shouldn't be difficult because there are a million memories I don't want to forget. It's just hard to delve into them and figure out which one to scrap.
*
I was going to give you a new freebie tomorrow, but you have been so good listening to me babble here that I have decided to give you the freebie today. This one is special. I was thinking of some of my friends and family members who are battling to survive each day. I hope you like this one.
*
Now I think I will enjoy a cup of coffee, and maybe put in a load of laundry or maybe call and chat with a friend. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
