February & A Kit For You

Wow, it's already the first day of February. Can you believe this? Before you know it we'll be basking in beautiful, funtastic Spring. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!

I have spent a good part of the day trying to recover files and things that I lost. It's a very long and tedious job. Actually, the day was spent on just one large file. As I went through it, I found that most of the folders were empty. So I made a list, and went to find them again. I guess I will just have to pick a file a day.

In between, I kept taking little breaks to go play ball with Tootsie. She gets annoyed waiting for me and sometimes does things to annoy me. Like pee on the carpet because I took so long getting in there to play. This is what she did this afternoon, so that took care of playing ball until tomorrow. Will she ever learn?

I often wonder what happened to this little dog during the first 6 months of her life. She was so timid when I got her, and she had some of the weirdest habits. Like - she won't go potty outdoors. No No! Absolutely not! She has her own little potty area in the panty with little blue chux to go on. If you don't change the chux right away as soon as it is soiled, she will finish up the job somewhere else. That will teach me!!

When she does something bad, she comes to tell me about it. (This one I couldn't ever figure out!) Before you can scold her, she already has her head hanging down with a soulful look on it. Geesh! She makes it tough for me to punish her. I usually just scold her and say "Bad Girl," but she already knows this. And of course, I've already told you about her aromatic habits. Phew! But through all this, she mine and I love her.

I Remember Mama

Hey, have a look at the date!! Only seven more weeks till Spring!! Pretty soon we'll be digging and planting in the yard, and soaking up all that wonderful warmth. Oh-h-h! I can hardly wait!

Well, I spent today fitzeling around on my computer. Did a couple of puzzles, and finished up your Anniversary freebie QP and new kit. And I must say, I like the kit. It's called "Floral Scent."

This morning, I had a lovely chat with Kyra. Isn't this Messenger thingy really cool? I can sit in my jammies, with a cup of coffee, and chat with people all over the world. I don't do chatrooms, and google chatclubs, facebook or myspace. I'm very picky about who I spend my time with. But here in the scrap world, I've made some nice friends that I enjoy chatting with now and then.

Tonight, I made meat sauce and spaghetti for supper. It's quick and easy, and we like it. Alas, I do wear a bit of it while I'm eating. For some reason, it always manages to slurp onto my chin and my nose, and in the process of wiping it away I manage to get it on my cheeks. Ah, but it's such a beautiful shade of orangey red. I can hear my mother now - "you're not being raised as a pig, so stop eating like one!"

I remember more of her words. "Because I said so! That's why!" Boy oh boy, do you remember hearing those words when you were a kid? I used them on my kids too. However, it only worked while they were still smaller than me. Today they just go, "sure, Mom." and chuckle away behind my back. And then of course, comes the next set of my mother's favorite words - "You can't fool me! I know what you're thinking!" She's gone now, or I'd be wearing her size 6 shoe right up my hiney. God love Moms, huh?

Time for me to take some supper out to Moo. He's not feeling very well tonight. Seems he has more bad days than good days now. It's the nature of the beast. Lord, this is one beast we'd like to annihilate.

Gosh, I was having so much fun working up a kit for the Feb Color Challenge at Magickal Scraps, that I lost track of time. I did finish the kit, though. No sneak peeks till February. I still have about 15 more challenges to do for the new month.

95, And Riding High

Well, where do I start? My computer came home last night. And yes, I had to return that lovely wireless keyboard that I had on loan from Wayne. Need to put that on my shopping list, right next to the new wireless mouse.

My computer is definitely sick. While I'm waiting for it to open or close a folder I can almost do a load of wash. Needless to say, this isn't making it fun to design anything. Also, the lost folders and items are devastating to say the least. I will by busy for the next few years just trying to match pieces of kits and folders to the original folder and then trying to find out where I got it.

They say the Lord doesn't hand out more than you can handle, but I don't think He's taken a good look at me lately. I lost my superwoman powers years ago, and now I'm just a rather slow mortal. It's sort of like I used to be the "Hare" and now I'm the Tortoise."

I read a beautiful article in last night's newspaper about a lady who lives nearby. She used to be a teacher at a local Academy, then she was head of their library complex. She did a fantastic job there, and then she retired. Since retiring, she works there as a volunteer archivist in the library. She goes to work three days a week. And guess what?? She's ONLY 95 YEARS old.

God bless her. I only hope that I will be as motivated and able to get around like that when I am 95 years old. I just love to read stories like this one, don't you?

Today was tax preparation day for lil ole me. My daughter in law came over to help me. This is not my funnest thing to do. Thank you, thank you Janet!! I have a few more columns to total up, then I can put it all on the work sheet. After that, I turn it all over to my accountant.

Crystal and Snow Raven from our forum at Magickal Scraps, have both challenged me to a photo challenge. I will have to check it out, and let you know more about it tomorrow. Hm-m-m-m, I wonder what those two are up to.

It's Snowing Again - Whoop de Do!!

Another day, another bunch of snow. For goodness sakes, where are we going to put it? So far, I've heard two weather forecasts, one says 5-10 inches coming, one says 2-5 inches coming. Don't they all go to the same sort of weather forecasting schools? How is it that they all read the weather map differently?

Either way, there isn't much room left out in my yard to put anymore snow, unless we park the vehicles in the street. And of course, that is a big no-no. The town hands out fines for parking on the street when it is snowing - gee whiz! we might get in the way of a big snow plow that's trying to dump all it's snow in our driveway.

Well, today just might be the BIG day!! Computer might be coming home today. We're not having a party until it's actually here, though. Gee, I never knew you could miss a computer so much. Imagine if I didn't have the laptop to fall back on.

Working Through A Blue Funk

Yesterday I was in a rather blue mood. So it was best for me to just go to bed early, and maybe sleep would change my outlook on the world. This has not been the easiest month to get through. All the difficulties have not been just mine - family members in accidents, household needs, yukky cold weather, it's tax time, and of course, an extremely needy and dying computer.

In just five more days, it will be February. Do you suppose that will be a much friendlier month? Oh gosh, I certainly hope so. It's difficult getting back into the designer mode. I sit here at my laptop and accomplish very little, if anything. It's just not the same as my computer.

Wayne called and said that I might be getting my computer back tomorrow. However, it is time to break down and get a new one. I have just been putting it off, and putting it off. By nature, I'm a regular procrastinator. If something can wait till another day, then that's what we'll do.

Time to get off the proverbial pot, and start doing!! Maybe I've just been feeling sorry for myself. Even I know that it's not good to do that. I have so much to be thankful for. So tonight, I'm making an effort to push myself back to being productive and creative.

It's Time To Make The Donuts

January 25, 2009

This week, we will re-start the Anniversary freebies. It's time for me to get back to work. Last night, I installed PSP on my new little webbook. This way, in between everything else, I can try to learn a new program. I watched a few learning videos on it last night, and it looks as though I can handle it.

I would also like to get caught up with the chat project this week. Then I will feel comfortable about working on the February challenges. I still have to make my reward kits for February. They are on the list of "items not found." Hopefully by the middle of the week, I will know exactly where I stand on recovery items.

It's also time to make decisions about when I am going to Florida and whether I can go for one week or two. Gosh I can almost feel that warm sun shining down on me. M-m-m-m! Considering that it's only about 7 or 8 degrees outside here, anything over 30 will probably feel like a heatwave.

You can't tell, but I left for a few hours and took a nap. I've also put in a load of laundry, and now I'm going to play with Tootsie for a while. I have a few hours before it's time to leave for work, so I will also work on Anniversary for a while.
