My Batteries Need Charging

April 30, 2019

Good morning.  Tis cloudy today, and there are some puddles.  The rain drops on my car tell me that it has been raining on and off.  According to the weather app on my phone, we will have rain for at least the next five days.  Where is all this rain coming from?

Yesterday, Pogo and I went shopping and bought a lot of new pots to plant in.  By the time we got home though, my energy was gone.  I did not get to do any actual planting.  Maybe I can put in a few today.

Sad to say, I'm not the Energizer Bunny.  I get bits of energy and they don't last for long.  Thank goodness this not start till these past few years.  I led a very busy life so this "slow down" is a new norm for me.  I bought a box of Wheaties the last time I shopped for groceries.  I've eaten almost the whole box of them, but so far they haven't done much to improve my lack of energy.  I guess I just need new batteries.

Several years ago, we planted a scrawny little blossoming cherry tree in the yard.  Every years, it grows a bit taller and produces more flowers.  This year it's loaded with pink blossoms.  I took some photos through the kitchen window.  Once these blossoms pop open, this tree is going to be agorgeous sight to behold.

It's amazing just how much pleasure one little tree can give us.  The folks in D.C. are so lucky.  They have lots of these stunningly beautiful trees.  Trees do so much for us.  They help to keep the environment healthy and they provide homes for us and all wildlife.  Take care of the ones you have.

On one of my other shopping trips, I bought a really cute little plant.  It was covered with tiny orange flowers.  I don't know what it is, so if you recognize it please let me know.

Isn't this a pretty plant?  I don't even know if it is an annual or a perennial.  I'm just imagining how simply gorgeous this will be if it grows into a huge plant.  Wowsie!  I could plant a whole lot of them.  Oh my!  Be still my heart!

Yesterday, I did call the Library to request a one on one appointment to get help with my new laptop.  The earliest appointment I could get is next Tuesday at four p.m.  I'll take it.  Windows 10 appears to have a whole system of pass words and to me it is confusing.  I already have my own passwords and I don't really want any more of them to remember.

I suppose once I finally learn how to navigate this new system, things will be easier.  It's really sad that it has to be so difficult.  I'm also surprised at the lack of places to learn how to use it.  I  think I'll call the college again to find out if there are any summer classes that address this subject.

Now I think I'll have a look at the new plants waiting to be planted and see what I can do about it this afternoon.  Wish me luck.  Maybe my batteries won't run out before I can get a couple plants in pots.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Tis A Good Day For Shopping

April 29, 2019

Good morning.  It's not even six a.m. and the sun is already shining.  It has been for a while.  I can't tell you how much I love these long days!  When I finish this post and do a bit of blog reading, Pogo and I are going to go shopping.

Today is going to be a nice day and I have some plants that need to be planted so they don't die.  For now, they will have to go in pots.  So that's what Pogo and I will be shopping for.  Pots.  Hopefully, my energy will last long enough to put some plants in the pots after we get home.  We have more rain coming tomorrow so I need to do as much as I can today.

Yesterday I mentioned about the crocheted wire jewelry and how I thought it was just too messy for my liking.  I got some photos from Google to show examples.   This first picture was tiny so I had to enlarge it.  This is an example of what the crocheted wire jewelry looked like on the show yesterday.  It's just too messy for my taste.

Then I found some other pieces that weren't so bad.  From a distance they look rather nice.  Up close, they are just too messy for my liking.  I cropped a close up of the chain to show what I mean.

In all fairness, some of this type of jewelry can be quite attractive.  Here's another necklace that I found on the web, and a close up.  It's still not my style, but it is rather pretty.

I guess it all depends on personal taste and style.  I like my necklaces a bit simpler.  When I was young, I liked rings with tiny gemstones.  To me, they were petite like me.  (Yup, I used to be a lot smaller than I am today.)   Actually, I think I liked them because that was all I could afford at the time.  Once I got to forty and fifty years, I was beginning to appreciate the rings with large gemstones.

My favorite color is orange.  This ring has a large lab grown padparadscha sapphire, with orange sapphires on the sides.  This definitely would not be as pretty if all the gemstones were petite.  To me, that is.  (Don't be looking at the wrinkles.  You'll have them too soon enough.)

I have to take a short break here to make a cup of coffee.  Be right back......Ahhh, now that hits the spot!  Coffee definitely helps to start the day off right.

Here are a few helpful hints that I found in my junk mail.  Soda kills weeds.  Cinnamon banishes ants naturally.  Roses grow crazy over banana peels.  Supercharge your houseplants with aspirin.  Banish mice with a bit of black pepper. And finally, Grow perfect tomatoes with old newspaper.  I'm not sure how this one works, so I'll have to look it up on Google.

These tips were teasers to get one to buy a book, so they don't tell the whole story.  However, I do think the rest of the information could be found on Google.  I'm going to be looking up the bit about the banana peels for the roses, and the black pepper to get rid of mice.  If I find what I'm looking for, I'll share the info here.

Now I think I'll enjoy my coffee and do a bit of blog reading before Pogo and I get ready to do a bit of shopping.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

It's National Blueberry Pie Day

April 28, 2019

Good morning.  Have you noticed how early the day breaks now?  And how late the sun sets?  I love these longer days.  We're having a bit of a break from the rain.  Yesterday, the sun came out and it was lovely.  Today and tomorrow will be sunny as well, and then back to the rain.  It's almost May so it would be nice if the rain would go away for a while and let the warm temps back in.

Yesterday was rather quiet for me.  I spent some time going through lots of magazines, catalogues and junk mail.  I got to put a lot of it out to the recycle bin and the rest for shredding.  After that, I did a couple puzzles on my old laptop.  Not a very exciting day, but another day to be thankful for.

I'm watching TV and it says that today is National Blueberry Pie day.  Sad to say, I don't have any Blueberry pie to celebrate with.  So maybe I'll make a peach or orange pie.  Mmm, now that sounds wicked tasty!

I did go out on the porch yesterday to take photos of some Blue Jays that were looking for lunch.  These birds might be pesky, but I think they are beautiful.  Today I think I'll take out a bowl of peanuts for them.  They love peanuts.

I was hoping to have the porch opened up by now, but all the rain has not made that possible.  I'm going to have to plant some of my plants in pots because it's too wet most days to plant anything in the ground.  Maybe tomorrow Pogo and I can go shopping for some big plant pots.  That would be a fun outing for Pogo.

Last evening, I finally dug out a second skein of yarn for my yellow afghan.  These are huge skeins, (14 oz.) and I got thirty rows from the first skein.  I'm thinking it will take four skeins to finish this afghan.  By the time it's done, it will probably be the size of a blanket.

Right now I'm watching the Jewel School on JTV.  Shortly they are going to show us how to use some crochet in making jewelry.  ???  I've never seen this so it should be interesting.  Some of the beads they've been showing are simply beautiful.

Well, the necklaces that they've crocheted with wire are rather messy looking to me.  First they crochet three (or more) single bead/wire strands, then they braid them all together.  The host is so excited about showing them.  She says they are gorgeous.  I still say they are really messy looking and I would not want to wear them.  I'll have to try to get some photos of this wire crochet jewelry so you can see for yourself.

Well, time is flying and I have dishes waiting in the sink that need washing.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

The New Laptop Just Plucked My Last Nerve!

April 26, 2019

Good morning.  I'm surprised I'm actually here.  This morning I tried to open my Blogger account on my new laptop and I couldn't get in.  It would not let me put in the correct email address and kept telling me to open a new Blogger account.  I spent an hour trying to figure this out.  I even went in to settings and tried changing a few of them.  This did not work, and I hoped it did not screw up my chances of having access to my blog on my old laptop.  (which is what I'm using now)

Yesterday, this old laptop started doing crazy things and I had to shut it off.  Today I'm trying to restrain myself from killing my new laptop.  I just don't like it!  Even the keyboard on the new laptop is not friendly to me.  It has all sorts of numbers and stuff on the right side, so my keyboard letters are all moved over more to the left.  My hands don't like this.

Am I cranky?  You betcha I am!

I'm at the point where I'd like to pack the new laptop back up in the box it came in and send it back.  It is definitely not being user friendly to me.  I know I should have more patience with it, but that's hard to do because I just don't like the machine.  Actually, it's not the machine that I don't like, it's the Windows 10 system.

My old laptop continues to do strange things, like saving things in places that i don't know about.  I finally had to save photos on my desktop so that I could share them here.  Sometimes when I bring up a folder, everything is in it.  I can close the folder, then open it again and some things aren't there anymore.  I'm thinking that maybe I need to open a Sam Adams or two.  It won't solve my problems but it will give me a nice nap.

I mentioned yesterday that I bought two new yarns.  Here are the photos that I took.  The first one is called "Teal" and the second one is called "Burgundy."  I have both of these colors in another brand, and they are totally different looking.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day.  Warm and sunny with a bit of a breeze.  Today we are back to gray and rainy.  It's supposed to rain through Sunday, with the sun coming out on Monday.  Then it's back to rain again.  I had shut the heat off in the house, but I had to put it back on last evening because it was getting quite cool again.

We were hoping to open up the porch this weekend, but I guess that's not to be.  My poor flowers are trying to bloom, but as soon as they open the rain knocks them down.    Here's a photo of my first two tulips to bloom.

I will have to call the library and make an appointment for one on one help with the new laptop and its demon system Windows 10.  Maybe that person can help me get access to my blog.  If not, my last ditch effort will probably be to fly to Virginia to see if daughter Audrey can do it.  After that, it needs to go.

On a happier note, DIL Janet brought me a big Easter basket last evening.  In it was the cutest bunny!  He sings and dances.  I'll try to take a video of it to share here.  Along with a bunch of Reese's candy eggs and a big Reese's chocolate bunny, there was a huge pan of homemade cookies.  I always share the cookies.  Everyone loves them.

Now I think I'm going to refresh my cup of coffee and enjoy one or two of those yummy cookies.   So till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

PC Problems- Short Post

April 25, 2019

Good afternoon.  I'm getting a late start today but it couldn't be helped.  Yesterday I was waiting for the mail to get here before going shopping.  Alas, the mail didn't come until after twelve noon.  That put a crimp in my day so I did not go.

This morning, I had my breakfast and a cup of coffee, then got dressed and went out to do my errands.  When I got home and put everything away, it was time to make lunch for Pogo and me.  It's such a lovely day that I've shut off the heat to the house and opened the bottom window on the storm door so that we can get some fresh air.  The next few days are supposed to be in the fifties and rainy so I'll be putting the heat back on tomorrow.

While I was at WalMart, I found two new shades of yarn that I could not resist.  I got two skeins of each which should be enough to make something.

Folks, I've developed some strange problem with my laptop, so I have to cut this post short.  I'll be back tomorrow.

It Feels Good Being Me Today

April 24, 2019

Good morning. Well,  Tis looking a bit gray outside but the forecast says it will be sunny and warm soon  It's still a bit early, only 7:13 a.m.  I want to acknowledge some really nice comments that some of you left on yesterday's post.  Thank you so much.  You've really put a big smile on my heart.

I'm in the process of making up my shopping list.  I would just phone in an order to WalMart to be picked up this afternoon, but for some reason the food pickers don't bother to look at expiration dates on things.  The last pickup order I got had a half gallon of milk in it that expired in two days.  Sorry, this is not my way of shopping.

It's kind of sad because this could have been a good thing for me.  There are lots of days that I am just not up to driving to the market.  But if I'm going to be paying for the food, I want fresh food.  I don't want bruised tomatoes, spotted and bruised bananas, etc.  I'm picky.  So until the store hires better food pickers, I'll just go shop myself.

Actually, I'm quite thankful that I'm able to go shop by myself.  Except for this COPD and Asthma, I'm fairly healthy.  I'm thankful that my hands work so that I can enjoy doing crafts and crocheting.  I'm blessed with a wonderful caring family and a lot of really nice blogger friends.  And let's not forget awesome little Pogo who stole my heart the minute I laid eyes on him.

My goodness, what got me going this morning?   I swear, there's nothing in my coffee!  Hmmm, it must have been that bowl of spaghetti and meat sauce that I had this morning for breakfast.  Yup, spaghetti!  It's one of the perks of being old, I guess.  We are allowed to eat our meals out of order.

I want to share this cute little cartoon that I borrowed from the web.  Easter has gone by, but this is too cute not to share.

I also have a couple of pictures (borrowed from the web) to share that will put a smile on your heart.  Animals are just so beautiful.

I'm hoping that we'll be having some really nice Spring weather once all these rainy days are behind us.  I'd really like to have the screen covers taken off the porch so that Pogo and I can spend some time out there.  Plants that I have ordered are all coming in the mail now and it would nice if they could be planted outdoors now.

Enough of my babble, I'm off to do a bit of blog reading before it's time to go shopping.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Keeping Busy

April 23, 2019

Good morning.  Tis a wee bit early, only 2:24 a.m.  I fell asleep early watching a program on TV.  Once I woke up, I wasn't tired enough to go back to sleep.  So instead, I've been playing on my (old) laptop.  I made a new quick page and cropped some photos to share.

It rained most all day yesterday.  At times it was pretty heavy.  Although some towns got heavier rain than we did.  I kept pretty busy all day doing God only knows what.  Yup, I have days where I'm really busy doing things that I can't recall.  I guess they just weren't all that important.

For all you folks with pets, I think I've found a new item that could be really good.  I saw it on TV yesterday and took a photo of the TV screen.  You comb your pet's fur/hair with this thing, and it kills all fleas on contact immediately.  If you call to order it, they will double the offer for an extra fee.  If it works the way they say it does, this could be really great.

Remember the berry pie that I made for myself?  Well, it's all gone now.  Last night I took a photo of it before cutting it into three slices.  One for me and one each for dwarfs Joe and Mike.  I used mixed berry Jello and raspberry yogurt for this pie and my oh my it was delicious!

It's supposed to rain all day today with temps in the mid to upper fifties.  But, then we should have a couple days of sunshine and temps in the sixties.  I'm thinking that Pogo and I will just have to get out while the sun is shining and do a couple errands and maybe shop a bit.

I put a couple more rows on my yellow afghan.  I think I'm up to twenty six rows now, only a hundred more to go.  I've been procrastinating using the new laptop but I think today I'll have to give it a try.  I'd like to be able to upload some quick pages so that I can post them.

While we were in Florida this year, I had planned to get my hair cut again.  However, we never made it to a hair salon.  I took this selfie photo while we were there and decided that maybe I'll wait a bit longer before having my hair cut again.  I don't take very good photos by holding the phone away from me, so I use a mirror.

My eyes are starting to get tired again now.  I think I'll take my leave and try to catch a few more winks.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Half Sun, Half Rain Today

April 22, 2019

Good morning.  Tis damp and gray at the moment, but the forecast calls for sun and temps in the sixties shortly.  This will, however, turn to rain with temps in the fifties by mid afternoon.  Temps are beginning to stay nearer to the fifties and sixties lately so I guess it's time to start planting a few things in pots.

Yesterday was a nice lazy day for Pogo and me.  Deanne brought us over a delicious ham dinner, actually enough for two dinners.  Yup, I'm going to enjoy it again today.  I did not play with my new laptop, nor did I cook the big pot of pasta and meat sauce.  I was just lazy most all day.

I did crochet a while on the yellow afghan that I started a while ago.  I don't work on it steadily, so it's going to take a while to finish it.  That's okay though, because this one is for me.  I do want to make another shawl just as soon as I can decide on a color.  I have a lot of yarn to choose from so it shouldn't take too long to decide on which color I want.

This morning I'm watching HSN on TV.  They are featuring a really nice Packard Bell Air Book (10" tablet).  It looks really nice, and the price is nice too.  I have a nice tablet, but it doesn't have a keyboard, so I can't really use it for a lot of things.  I mostly use it to read my e-books.  Soon I will be needing to replace my little laptop,  so maybe something like this PB tablet might be ideal.  I have more homework to do on this subject.

I'm funny that way.  When it's time for me to buy an expensive item, (anything over $50) I do a lot of research on the item.  I learn as much as I can about the product, its pros and its cons and what you get with the different price ranges.  This way I can purchase intelligently.  However, this does not teach me how to use the product.  That comes after the purchase.

Some times I find the neatest things on the web.  Here's one idea that I think can really be a big help when you need to do some shopping and hubby doesn't want to tag along.  Just drop him off at a hubby day care center, and he'll be a happy little camper.  (photo borrowed from web)

I just switched the channel over to Shop LC TV, and oh my what a big mistake!  They are showing one of the prettiest London Blue Topaz Rings set in sterling silver.  And the price!  Oh wow, such bargains!  Well, I had to change the channel again because I'm trying to be very good and not buy anything.  Yup, I put on a crime story.  These are very interesting and there's nothing for me to buy!

Before I go, let me share something else that I borrowed from the web.  This is something to really think about.  Every thing you say or do (or don't say or do) leaves its mark on someone.  It doesn't cost anything to be kind  to someone.  But it can be worth a whole lot to the person you were kind to.  Think about it.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Easter

April 21, 2019

Good morning, and Happy Easter to you.  Well, I have to say that Mother Nature has been rather kind to us.  We were expecting heavy downpours of rain yesterday, and rain today and for the next few days.  Some places got the rain, but we got only light rain on and off throughout the day.  Today is looking like more of the same.

Here's a photo of yesterday's sky.  Cloudy with light drizzle now and then.  Not bad at all.

Yesterday, Deanne and Eddie took the grandkids to a friend's house for an Easter Egg hunt.  They had a wonderful time.  Joe (one of the dwarfs) spent the day at his sister's home enjoying his great nieces hunting for Easter Eggs.  The weather did not dampen anyone's Easter activities.  Thank you very much.

I had some photos of past Easters to share with you, but I lost them when I downloaded those infected kits last month.  I lost a lot of stuff, and I'm still trying to find things.  So, instead, I'll share some photos I took of the new leaves that are now adorning our trees.

Temps were in the sixties yesterday, so Pogo and I went out on the porch every once in a while just toenjoy the warm temps.  Gosh, Pogo looks like a little mouse in this photo.  hahaha.  It was even too warm for his little sweater, so we took it off.

I didn't really do a lot of anything yesterday.  It was just a lazy day for us.  I did make a couple of pies.  One is lemon, and that one is for Deanne and her family.  The other pie is mixed berries, and this one is for me.  Of course, I'll share with some of the dwarfs.

Today Pogo and I will share a delicious ham dinner that Deanne will be bringing to us later today.  Yum, yum!  Later, I'll make up a pot of meat sauce and pasta for supper.  This year, I did not make up Easter baskets or decorated eggs for the dwarfs.  I've been doing this for so many years, but no one ever says thank you.

I've been watching HSN on TV.  They are featuring electronic items.  Right now, they are showing the Go Vision glasses.  You put them on and take videos of whatever you are looking at.  I bought a pair of them a couple of months ago, but I haven't had a chance to use them yet.  Right now, they are charging.  I think I'll give them a try this afternoon.

I going to try to install my jigsaw puzzle game in my new laptop this afternoon.  Wish me luck.  I hope it goes in without any problems.  I relax every day by doing one or two puzzles around dinner time.  After that, I think I'm going to try to bring an image up in the new Photoshop.  If that works, I may even be able to start making new quick pages.  Again, wish me luck.

Now I think I'll sign off and do a bit of blog reading.  Then I have some dishes needing to be washed.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a Blessed and Happy Easter!

Hugs, Edna B.

I Hope The Easter Bunny Has A Row Boat

April 19, 2019

Good morning.  Tis gray and cloudy with temps in the sixties.  Today begins our mini-monsoon seson.  For a while the forecast called for four days of rain, but now it is showing six days of rain. Maybe that's why I couldn't see the moon during the night.  I got a fuzzy glimpse of it through the trees, but then it slid behind all the cloud cover.

It's also quite windy today.  My wind chimes have been singing all morning.  It's really a pleasant sound.  There are three different ones hanging outside.  At times, they sound a bit like a chorus.  Hmm, maybe I should hang a couple more of them up.

DIL Janet was here last evening, and we ordered spinach pizzas for supper.  Oh my, they are soooo tasty.  The afghan that Janet is working on is coming along nicely.  As soon as she gets a few more rows on it, I'll take a photo to share.

The folks at Lincare never showed up yesterday.  They did call me around noon time to say that they would be out to take care of the oxygen concentrator.  They must have forgot.  I called them at 5:45 last evening and they finally said they would be here between 8 and 9 P.M.  They showed at almost ten o'clock.  All the guy did was to take the machine that was here out, and plug in another machine.  This new machine is big, noisy and super heavy.  But it works.

I think my mind went on vacation without me.  Today I will be doing the laundry that I meant to do yesterday.  I did put the laundry into the washer, but never turned the washer on.  For the life of me, I can't think of what I may have been doing that was so distracting.  Ah well, it doesn't matter.  The clothes will get washed today.  Do you ever have days like that?

Today I have photos of the plants that are just now blossoming in my yard.  First, here's my first daffodil and hyacinth.

Next, there are a couple of tulip buds that should be opening in a few days.

Then there's my little lilac bush.  It's covered with tiny little buds that will be opening soon.

There are lots of new shoots on all the rose bushes too.  Maybe once we get past this rainy season, lots of things will be starting to bloom.  Gosh, I hope so.  Hopefully, this warmer weather will be here to stay so that I can have the screen covers taken off the porch soon.

I was up around 4:30 this morning, trying to get a photo of the moon, and I just stayed up.  So, I think I'd best get that laundry going before I'm ready for a nap.  I'm thinking maybe I'll make a couple of pies this morning.  One for me, and I'll take one over to Deanne for her family.

On that happy note, I'm off.  So, till Sunday, I wish you all a Happy Easter.  Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

I'm In The Middle Of A Murphy's Law Thing

April 18, 2019

Good morning.  Gosh, I didn't realize how late it was.  It's almost noontime.  I had a hard time falling asleep during the night, and therefore slept quite late this morning.  Since I got up, I've been busy trying to get the oxygen company (Lincare) to call me back with a time they will be out with a new oxygen concentrator.

The one they gave me recently has developed some problems, and I haven't been able to use it since early last evening.  These folks are not in any hurry to call me back, so I may end up calling my insurance company to make sure they are not billed for all the days the concentrator isn't working.

It's starting to feel like a Murphy's Law week.  Yesterday afternoon, after Pogo had his turkey treat, I got ready to go grocery shopping.  After getting all settled in my car, I touched the starter and NOTHING.  A dead battery!  But how?  I checked the trunk lid but it was shut tight.  That's usually the cause of this problem.

Joe came out and tried to jump start my engine, but it just wasn't working.  After about fifteen minutes of trying, we gave up.  I called Driver Elite (it's similar to AAA) and they said they would be out within the hour.  And they were.  As soon as their cables were attached to my battery, the engine turned over.  Woo Hoo!  I let the car run for forty minutes before shutting if off and starting it again

The problem seems to have come from a button on the lower dash that accidently got touched and it turned something on.  I'm not sure what this thing is so I'll have to get out my owner's manual and look it up.

Eventually I got to go shopping, and by the time I got home and put everything away, it was after eight o'clock.  I will mention one thing here.  As I was getting ready to leave my driveway, I noticed two or three turkeys over by the bird feeder enjoying some bird seed.  I guess these turkeys will be with us for a while.

The best part of the day was when  Deanne came by for a visit and brought me a lovely bouquet of flowers and some new solar flowers and flamingos to put in my garden.  Here is a photo of the bouquet, and I'll take some photos of the solar flowers as soon as I get a chance.

Have you ever seen such a pretty hydrangea?  It looks like a large ball of pastel candies.  And I just love the yellow tulips.  I think yellow flowers are so happy looking.  Yellow flowers make me think of my brother.  His favorite song was "Eighteen Yellow Roses."  For his memorial service, I got a blanket of white carnations and eighteen yellow roses for his casket.

Another bright spot yesterday was when my other new Photoshop book and Quick Reference pamphlet arrived.  Now I'm looking forward to sitting down with my new laptop and trying out the new Photoshop program.

I took a walk out in my yard yesterday, and noticed a couple of blossoms.  I took photos and I'll share them tomorrow.  Right now, I have to call Lincare to find out why they have not called me back yet.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Tis A Beautiful Spring Day

April 17, 2019

Good morning.  Tis sunny and the temperature is 48F degrees.  In a few hours, temps will be in the low sixties.  A simply lovely day!  I have a few things to do today, then Deanne will be coming by for a visit.  Later, after Pogo has his turkey treat, I think I'll make a quick run to the market and pick up a few things.  We have a few days of rain coming up next.

I did not tackle the new laptop yesterday or last night.  Instead I got rid of another bag of junk mail, catalogues and magazines.  I also spent a bit of time looking through my new book :How Do I Do That In Photoshop" by Scott Kelby.  Each page answers just one thing.  You look up the thing you are trying to do, and it will give you the page number where you can find the answer.  Very interesting!

While I was going through a batch of magazines, I found a couple of items that I thought might share with you.  The first is a recipe for am easy Smoked Sausage Skillet dish.  I make one similar to this and it is delicious.

I also found a page with some rather interesting facts on it.  Be sure to click on the picture so that it gets bigger and you can read it better.

Last evening, I did a couple of puzzles on my (old) laptop while I watched the kids baking championship on TV.  I fell asleep rather early, so I woke up in the wee hours of the night.  This wasn't so bad though because I managed to pick up a couple of gift items from the TLC program on TV.  Sometimes they have some awesome deals during the night.

I'm hoping my puzzle program works on my new laptop, so I looked it up online and read the customer reviews.  Someone had asked if it would work on Windows 10, and the answer was yes.  So I have high hopes that I'll be able to do my jig saw puzzles on the new machine.  I plan to spend some time with the new laptop after I finish going through a couple more bags of magazines, etc.

Can you get the Game Show Network on your TV?  Their newest game show is called "Common Knowledge."  It's sort of a trivia game and I find it quite interesting.  Another new game show that I like is called "America Says."  It's so refreshing to be able to watch a clean, fun adult show.

I used to enjoy watching "Family Feud" which calls itself a family show.  However, a lot of the questions are no longer geared for a family.  A lot of times, contestants are teenagers and/or clergy and  many of the questions are very embarrassing and just not suitable.  This tends to take away the enjoyment of the game for me.

Today, I'm watching for the mail carrier again.  My other new book should be coming today.  Woo Hoo!  I'm hoping that with the help of these two new books I'll be able to find my way around the new version of Photoshop.

Now I think I'll put  load of laundry into the washer, then do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

I'm Enjoying Some Old TV Programs Today

April 16, 2019

Good morning.  Tis a bit cloudy and the temperature is 41F degrees.  Today's temps should get up into the upper fifties with lots of sunshine.  According to the forecast, tomorrow should be sunny then we'll have several days of rain.  I guess I'd best get out either today or tomorrow to do my errands.

This morning I've been watching old reruns of the "I Love Lucy" show.  Comedy sure was different in my day.  Lucy always managed to get into some really ridiculous situations.  I think one of my favorites was the time she and Ethel were working at a candy factory.  Yup, comedy was really funny way back then.

Yesterday was a bit low key.  I decided not to play with the new machine.  Instead, I went online to check out classes at the college.  That didn't work out very well.  I did not find anything that I was looking for.  So, instead, I went looking on Amazon for Visual Learning Photoshop CC books.  I found a couple of books and ordered them.  One should be here today and the other tomorrow.

I'll have to watch for the mail.  The regular carrier is on vacation this week and I don't know the substitute's schedule.  I'm anxious to see these new books.  Meanwhile, I've been cutting fringes and putting them on the shawl.  Problem is, I don't think I like it very much with all this fringe.  I think I'll have to give it some more thought before putting any more on it.

Last night I made a key lime pie, using that recipe that I posted on an earlier post.  I looked at it while I was making my coffee this morning.  Yup, I wanted a piece of that pie for my breakfast.  But I was good and did not touch it.  However, I can't promise to be that good come lunch time.  Easter is coming right up, so maybe I'll make a berry pie and take it over to Deanne's house.

Last night I watched the Food Channel on TV.  They were playing reruns of the kids baking championship.  I am so amazed at how smart these kids are.  Afterwards, I watched a program about some of the outstanding cakes that "Duff" has made.  Some of his cakes are just awesome.  No one in my family was much of a "sweets" eater, so I never really got to bake very much.

Next weekend the new Worst Cooks in America will be starting and it will be featuring celebrities.  I can't wait to watch it.  The last season was just so funny.  Some of the contestants can't even boil water, but they learn how to cook some delicious meals.

Today I have a couple more coloring pages from Dover.  I hope you can enjoy some relaxing time coloring them.

I think I'm going to make my self a bowl of cereal and a fresh cup of coffee.  Then I'm off to do a bit of blog reading before getting started on this beautiful new day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Happy Rubber Eraser Day

April 15, 2019

Good morning.  Happy Tax Day!  Well, at least I hope it is a happy day for you.   Have you worn down the erasers on all your pencils?  I hope not because today is National Rubber Eraser Day.  I hope it's a good day for you.

Today is also Patriots Day and Boston Marathon Day here in New England.  Not interested?  Then how about celebrating McDonalds Day.  This day in 1955 was when McDonalds first opened.  If this doesn't make you happy, then how about National Gripers Day.  Now that's probably a better name for Tax Day.

Well, yesterday I took the bull by the horns and opened up the new laptop.  I transferred a couple folders to the desktop from my old laptop.  (I use a thumb drive to do this,)  Then I tried to download MediaFire to the desk top.  I ran into a problem here because I hadn't figured out how to save favorites.  Once the program was downloaded to my laptop, my next problem was to figure out where it was hiding. Between the Visual Learn book and a HELP call to daughter Audrey, we found where the program was hiding.

I should mention here that Audrey is learning Windows 10 too.  She got her new laptop back in December.  She has the Visual Learn book too, but she is very tech savvy.

Next, we tried to download my Amazon Music to the desktop.  This proved to be too much for either of us.  So I called Amazon tech support, and a nice lady there talked me through the whole process.   She even helped me download "Alexa" to my desktop.  God Bless her, she was so patient with me.  She even showed me how to find my music and Alexa when I turn the laptop on.

I've been asked what type of laptop I bought.  It's a HP, and I posted a picture of it with its description on April 5.  You can check that post for more information about it.  I have always had a Hewlett Packard computer, whether it be a desk top or a laptop.

Today I'm going to call the local college to find out if and when they have classes for Photoshop.  Up to now, I haven't had a problem with this program, but the new version is totally Greek to me.  I should try to spend some time playing with it to see if I can figure any of it out so that I can work on my quick pages.

I just had a brainstorm.  I think I'll look online to see if there is a Visual Learn book for the new Photoshop.  Now that would be a big help!  Hopefully, I'll get lucky and find one.

Today I have a few images that I borrowed from the web to share with you.  This first picture is oh so important.  Always treat your doggies as family.  They are so precious. and you are their whole world.

This next image lists companies that pay for tests done on animals.  Please don't support them.  There should be no animal testing.

I also found this interesting tidbit.  Did you know this?  I did not.  Wow, talk about monopolies!  These six companies sort of run the whole media system.

Ah well, I'm not going to be tempted to celebrate National Gripers Day.  Nope, today I'm going to stay away from "frazzle stuff."  Well, at least I'm going to try!  Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Miz Cranky Is Back!

April 14, 2019

Good morning.  It's 6:07 and I've been up for a while.  Day is just breaking.  The forecast for today has temps in the upper sixties and sunny.  That will be super nice.  Yesterday was also super nice.  Not that I noticed, I napped most of the day away.

Friday proved to be a very traumatic day for me, and I needed all day Saturday to recuperate.  What was so traumatic you ask?  I opened my new laptop and tried to set it up by myself.  At first it wasn't too bad, but then you know they are going to ask me a question that I can't answer.  And they did!

After working myself up into a lather, I finally called my daughter Audrey, and she was able to help me get past this difficult point.  Next, I decided I would go to Adobe's website and download the Photoshop (in the cloud) program so that I can start working on quick pages again.

This, too, proved to be very trying for me.  First I had to open an account.  Would they let me?  Nope!  They said that I already had an account.  Well, I did from years ago, but I never even used it.  Eventually, I had to come up with another new password.  (You can't do much of anything on this machine without coming up with a batch of new passwords!)

Eventually, I somehow managed to get the program downloaded to my new laptop.  You would think that I'd be all set now, right?  Nope!  I did not recognize my favorite program anymore.  It was asking me for stuff that I did not understand, and I could not find any of the things that I normally use in this program.  After spewing out another batch of rather naughty words, I'd had enough.

I decided I'd just shut the laptop off and call it a day.  Well, I can decide all I want, but it didn't change the fact that I didn't know how to shut the stupid machine off.  Through all of this, my new Visual Learning book is lying right here next to me.  Did I open it?  Of course not.  That would have been too easy.

Actually, thoughts of the book never entered my miserable mind.  Instead I called Audrey, and she showed me how to shut my laptop off.  She would take a photo of her desktop (on her computer) and send it to me in a text message.  Then I could match her photo to my desktop.  You know, if I had just used a tiny portion of my pea brain, I'd have opened my Visual book and it would have shown me how to shut off my laptop.

By now, though, my poor miserable old brain was in such a tizzy, that I did not want to have anything more to do with this horrid new machine and program.  Before I started all of this, I had visions of spending an afternoon making new quick pages in my new Photoshop program.  Well, that thought got shot down really fast.

I've since decided that for now, I'll try to make my pages in my old laptop, then move them over to my new laptop.  That is, IF I can download MediaFire to my new laptop.  So, maybe later today I'll try to download MediaFire.  I have one bottle of Sam Adams left in my fridge.  Maybe I'll drink that first before trying anything else on that new machine.

Enough of my crabbing!  Today I have a beautiful picture to share with you. I borrowed it from a friend's web page.  This is called the Highway to Heaven.  It really does look as if it is reaching up to Heaven.

Then I borrowed another picture from the web to share.  It shows a really neat way to have bedding available for any children that might be visiting.  It's really quite easy to make too.

The next musical revue at the Paris Cabaret will be "70's Disco Fever."  This will be presented on April 27, May 11 & 18, and June 1 & 22.   In between, there will be a special Mother's Day show.  Here is a photo of the cast.  That's our Jazzy in the upper right.

Well, I've done my grumbling, and drank all my coffee.  I think it's time I made a fresh cup of coffee and did a bit of blog reading.   I promise not to hurt that new machine if it gives me any problems later today.  I guess I'll start looking to see if the college offers any classes on Photoshop.  With this new version, I'll need all the help I can get to learn it.

Meanwhile, I finished the shawl I've been working on.  Now I'm just cutting and putting on fringe.  As soon as I get the fringe on it, I'll take a photo to share here.  Now I'm going to get me that cup of coffee.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Is It A Bird?

April 12, 2019

Good morning.  It's a little after 1:30 a.m. and I'm having my breakfast.  Pogo has already had his and is now sound asleep next to me here on the sofa.  Maybe I can join him in dreamland in a little while.

Late yesterday afternoon, Deanne, Eddie and I went to the college to see Jazzy being inducted into Phi Theta Kappa.  It was quite a nice ceremony, and at the end of it, Jazzy and two other girls sang a song.  As soon as I can figure out how to get the song over here to my blog, I will post it.

As soon as I got home, I had supper (Pogo only ate a little of his) and then I sat down to crochet on the shawl for a while.  I put on one row and put it away.  My eyes were falling shut. I was sound asleep before nine o'clock.  Pogo did try to wake me up around midnight for the rest of his supper, but it didn't work.  I just fell right back to sleep.  Till 1 a.m.

Yesterday was not the day to open my new laptop.  So I guess I'll do it today.  After I get some more sleep of course.  For the life of me, I don't know why I procrastinate.   I think I've always been a bit afraid of new things.  (until I get to know them better)

When I got my first computer back in 1997, I was so proud of it.  When ever anyone came by the house, I would show them my new computer.  I would proudly turn it on.  "See, isn't this super?"  Then I would shut it off.  That's all I knew how to do.  Finally hubby said that I should learn how to use my new compuiter to justify spending all that money.  So I learned it.

I put a couple programs that I wanted to learn into my new computer, and I was off and running.  The rest is history.  So, I guess the first thing I need to do, after getting the laptop up and running, is to download Photoshop.  Then I want to get my puzzles into the laptop.  After that, I should be good to go.

I have a couple photos from our vacation to share.  This is my friend Beth and Pogo.  She had taken him out for a little stroll.

While they were out, Beth stopped to get a photo of what looked like a little bird perched on the bush outside our unit.  Upon closer inspection, she got quite a surprise.

What looked like a little bird turned out to be a leaf.  But can you see why it looked like a bird?  I've colored the leaf to make it easier to see it.

I'm not sure what I'm up to today, other than to try to set up my laptop.  It may be that is all I will have time for.  hahaha.  Before I go, let me share another picture with you.  I borrowed this one from the web.

This is what I call a huge act of kindness.  By the way, that's the year when I was born.  I don't remember wearing dresses made from these flower sacks.  I do remember having lots of pretty little dresses and pinafores.  My mother made most of them.

Now I think I'll wash my breakfast dishes and try to catch a few more winks.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.
