Happy Birthday Kyra

January 8, 2014

Good morning.  Did I say it was nasty cold yesterday?  Well, I have to say it was a lot warmer yesterday than it was last night and this morning.  It was -4F degrees during the night, and it is -2F degrees this morning with a wind chill of -15F.   The weather man says that we should get up to 19F today, and only down to 15F tonight.

If I thought I was bad for counting the days away till Spring, the weatherman is worse.  He's counting the days till Summer.  Only 164 days away!!  That's very little comfort right now though, because my fingers are rather cold as I sit here typing.

Today is my good friend Kyra's birthday.  It would be nice if you could stop over to her blog and leave her some birthday wishes.   Kyra, I'm wishing you a beautiful day filled with lots of love and happiness.  Happy Birthday, Kyra.  I'm so glad to call you my friend.

Well, this morning I have lots of news, some good and some not so good.  The good news is that my granddaughter Jasmine auditioned yesterday for a part in a new musical coming up, "The Wizard Of Oz".     Last evening, she got a call and was offered the part of Dorothy.  Woo Hoo!!  Congratulations Jazzy!

The not so good news is that my daughter Audrey is sick in bed, and daughter in law Janet is also sick in bed.   Girls, I'm hoping for a speedy recovery for both of you.  I love you.

Before Christmas, I bought a new Amaryllis bulb, and Joe planted it.  We've all been watching the plant very closely, waiting for it to bloom.  Well yesterday it was in full bloom. and oh is it ever beautiful.  Here are a coupe of photos that I took with my phone.

While I was having fun with my phone, I also took a couple of photos of our Poinsettia plant which also is quite beautiful.

About an hour ago, I used my remote starter to start my car.  With this bitter cold, I wanted to make sure that it would start.  And it did!!!  I let it run for about ten minutes, then shut it off.  I'll try it again later this afternoon.  I'm not sure if Joe and I will do the food shopping today or tomorrow.  Either way, I need to know that my car will start.

When I started typing this blog, I had a full cup of hot coffee.  I didn't gulp it all down, so now I have a mug full of ice coffee.  Not quite what I was wanting right now.  So I think I'll head on out to the kitchen and make myself a hot cup of cocoa.

When my cocoa is ready, I'm going to curl up in my lounge chair with my new afghan that Kyra made me for Christmas, and crochet for a while.   So, till tomorrow, Y'all try to stay warm, and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Staying warm in not in the books today ... -12 windchill -35. It burns your face even when I put vasoline on my skin to protect it. Best stay in until this blows over Edna or you will end up like your daughter and Dil. There are lot of sick people around here too ... hard for the body to tolerate this kind of weather.

Your flowers are gorgeous, but I have to say that at least the poinsetta is poisonous to animals so make sure the cats and Pogo stay away from them. Cats are notorious plant eaters so keep an eye on them.

I am still cleaning away. Doesn't seem like I am getting that much done because it is all the kind of cleaning that you can't see unless you are looking for it. But I feel good that I am making progress. Time is running out though ... the kids will be back in two weeks Woo Hoo ... Yikes!

Cold coffee is a nurses faire ... I never poured a cup of coffee that I didn't have to leave while I took care of a patient's needs. I got so used to drinking cold coffee, that now most of the time, I drink ice coffee. Just seems more natural, even now years after I have retired. Go figure ...

Well, I am off to put some things away that have been making their home on my desk for way too long. You stay warm, Edna, and keep bundled in your Afghan. Love to the Pogo from Izzi ...

The Amyryllis is just gorgeous!
Oh my, so sorry for Aurdrey and Janet, wishing them a speedy recovery!
Glad my afghan keeps you a bit warm these days. And you know what? Your afghan is wonderful, I used it yesterday afternoon to take a little nap, and it kept me oh so warm!
Cold coffee? I often drink that, just almost always seem to forget I have some coffee in my mug LOL!
Have a warm and wonderful day!
Hugs
Kyra
