It's A Good Day To Gather Up The Leaves

Good morning.  It's a little after 9 a.m., and the sun is shining.  It's cooler today with a little breeze, but it is still nice.  SIL Eddie and grandson Kevin are outside working on my tractor lawn mower.  Something isn't working on it, so they will fix it.   Then they will see about bagging up some of the leaves that are covering the whole yard.

Yesterday afternoon, I thought I would go through a lot of my music discs to see if any of them still played.  I didn't realize when I made them that they would stop working in a few years.  Up to now, a lot of them have not worked, but yesterday I got lucky.  I copied each one that actually worked into a folder on my desk top PC, then I copied the folder on to a thumb drive. 

I still have quite a lot of discs to go through, but at least I'm able to save some of my music.  Guess what I'll be doing this afternoon once the laundry is finished.  I'd work on it while the laundry was washing, but I have a habit of getting lost in what I'm doing. 

I also worked on, and finished my contribution to the World Wide Christmas Scrapping blog train.  It was fun, so I made a few more QP's to put in my "freebie" folder.  Next I'll start making some Christmas QP's for my folder. 

A lot of the discs that I had saved scrap resources on are still good.  I went through a lot of them hoping to find some goodies to use on my QP's.  Oh yes, I found a lot of them.  Woo Hoo! 

Today I have some photos that I took at the park the other day.  A couple show the pretty scenery, and couple show the swan family.  Gosh, it won't be long before the babies will be white like their parents.

I can hear the hum of the lawn tractor, so I guess that's all fixed.  God bless that son in law of mine.  He's smart and he's very good to me.  Soon he'll be coming in to get the leaf blower/vacuum/mulcher.  Kevin will get to play with that nifty little gadget.  (and I'll get a clean yard!!)

Looking For New Craft Ideas?

Good morning.  It's a bit cloudy this morning, but it is still a gorgeous day.  It's 68F degrees and my flag is happily waving and dancing in the breeze.  It's a beautiful sight.

Yesterday, Pogo and I took a ride to the park to watch the water birds.  There was a swan family of four, and still quite a few gulls, ducks and geese.  I took some photos, but haven't had a chance to go through them and crop a few.  I promise I'll do that later today.

I borrowed a craft project from my daughter Audrey's FB page to share with you.  If you love making home made gifts, this one should be fun.  These are ornaments filled with cocoa and marshmallows.

I'm sure once you make these, you can think of other things to fill them with.  I have the link for the website where you can learn how to make these, plus you'll find lots of other fun ideas (and recipes) there.

You can buy the ornaments in some of the Walmart stores, but I found them on Amazon.  They are a little more than $2 a piece.  There are other shapes that are just under $2 each.  If you make any, do share a photo of your creations.

Another fun thing that I borrowed from the web is a wonderful space saver for when you have children visiting.  If you use those space saver plastic bags, you can store the pillows in one, vacuum the air out of the bag, and store it in a drawer.

I finished a couple more neck warmers, and started one in the Pink Camo yarn.  I have run out of the kilt pins though, and will have to wait for my new order of them to arrive.  I also want to make a couple more lapghans.  These can be used to maybe have a little fun with in December.  More on that later.

There was one more item that I borrowed from the web to share with all my coffee loving friends.  These little minions are so darn smart!!

My Cup Runneth Over. I Am So Very Blessed.

Good morning.  Oh my, what a beautiful morning.  Lots of sunshine and warm temps.  Pogo and I are going to take us a ride to the park later this morning to enjoy some of this gorgeous weather.  Today should reach 69 or 70F degrees.   Simply super!

Well yesterday was quite the wonderful birthday day.  The weather was perfect, and I got lots of good wishes from my family and friends.  Even Pogo was in a playful mood most of the day. 

When the postman came, he brought two birthday packages.  One from my good friend Kyra, and one from my daughter Audrey.  I set Audrey's package aside to open in the evening while we talked on the phone. 

The package from Kyra had a beautiful card and a jeweled pen and notebook.  Thank you so much Kyra.  I love all things paper.  I'm not sure why, but I've always loved paper, and this tiny notebook is just adorable. 

Later in the afternoon, Deanne and Eddie came by to take me out to dinner.  Plus, they brought me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, which fit into two vases.  Oh my, those orange roses are just gorgeous!

 

We met the kids at the restaurant, and had us a wonderful time full of  good food and lots of laughter.   While we were there, Kevin told me his good news.  He made the cut for the Spring baseball team at his college.  Gosh all mighty, does it get any better? 

 

When I got home, Pogo was hopping all over me with lots of his little licks.  Any wonder why I love this little guy?   Then I made him up a plate of steak for his dinner.  It only took a few minutes for him to lick the plate clean.

 

Next I called Audrey (in Virginia), and I opened my other package.  I had told her that I would like some more kitchen towels, preferably in orange or green.  And oh my, here's what she made for me.  Aren't they wonderful?  She even made me matching dish cloths.  I love these, and they brighten up my little kitchen. 

 

 

Another package was delivered yesterday afternoon.  It was my new calendars and my Christmas cards.  Wowee!!  Vista Print did a great job of printing them.  I'm very happy with my whole order.  Now I can start addressing the envelopes.  A few a day, and I'll have them finished by the end of the month. 

 

Last night, I thought I'd finish up the pale plum neck warmer and start another one, but alas, I fell asleep early.  Ahhh, happy dreams.

Happy Birthday Laura Jean

Good morning.  The sun is shining, and it's going to be another fabulous day.  Right now, it's 56F, and headed towards the low 60's.  Tomorrow will be the warmest day with temps in the low 70's.  I love it!! 

Today my youngest child turns fifty.  Laura Jean, I hope your special day is filled with warm sunshine and music.  (she loves music)  We all love you very much.  As for me, well I got a little bit older too.  I just had an awful thought.  In four years, I'll arrive at another big "0" year.  groan, groan.

On the news this morning, they are showing a picture of the train that is carrying the White House Christmas Tree from Alaska to Washington D.C.  The tree is inside a whole train car.  The newscasters, along with many other folks, think that this is just wonderful. 

I guess what I don't understand is just what makes this wonderful?  They have cut down a beautiful, healthy tree two months before Christmas, and they will ship it all the way across the country to the Capitol, where it will be adorned with tens of thousands of lights.  Folks, I find this a major waste of resources.  First the tree, and then the huge amount of energy and money it will take transport it and keep it lit up. 

I love Christmas and all its beautiful decorations, but I think killing and decorating these huge trees is just too much.  What's wrong with a much smaller tree?  Even better, why not plant a tree on the White House lawn, and decorate it every year for the Holidays?   Certainly large retailers could do this too. 

Enough of my banter.  I want to share something that was in yesterday's newspaper.  The headline reads:  "Teen works for NASA, flies planes and has published two books."  Wow!!  Moshe Kai Cavalin has two college degrees and flies airplanes, but he is too young to vote or drive a car alone.  He graduated from community college at age 11, and four years later he had a bachelor's degree in math from the University of California in Los Angeles.

Currently, he is studying for a degree in cybersecurity through the Boston area's Brandeis University.  However, he has put it on hold for a couple of terms while he helps NASA develop surveillance technology for airplanes and drones.  His goal is to eventually start his own cybersecurity company.  For now though, he is counting down the days until his 18th birthday, when he'll be able to get a full drivers license (California law). 

Wow!  Wow Wow and Wow!!   What an awesome young man!  The only part of all of this that bothers me is the childhood that this amazing young man has not had time to enjoy.  He doesn't seem to miss it, but I feel that the toys and playing parts of youth are important.  Either way, he is an amazing young man.

Today I will start working on a freebie to post in the Worldwide Christmas Scrapbooking  blog train.  This will start on December 1st and be available for the whole month of December.  I'll post more information in a few weeks. 

For today, I have an Autumn QP for you.   I just love the colors for this season.  The oranges and the golds are the colors of a gorgeous sunset.  I hope you can use it.

Last night, I finished the second light raspberry neck warmer and started on another pale plum one.  I have a few more of these that I want to make, then I'll get back to my baby projects and the lapghans.  I probably could have finished the new warmer, but alas I fell asleep early.

This evening, Deanne, Eddie and their children are taking me out to dinner.  Pogo cannot go with us, so I'm making him a nice steak dinner to make up for it.  I went through my old photos and found this one of me to share.  It was taken fifty eight years ago at my high school prom.  This handsome young man was the love of my life.  (Love can be fickle.  He later married someone else.)

Ah well, memories - I have lots of them.  For now though, I'm going to play with Pogo for a while.  He's been crawling all over me while I'm typing, and trying to coax me into a cuddle game.  He's a smushy little fellow.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Oh What A Beautiful Morning, Oh What A Beautiful Day.

Good morning.  I must say that it is absolutely lovely outside today.  The sun is shining, it's fairly warm and there's a nice breeze.  As I look out my door, I see a tree (at the end of the driveway) glowing in gorgeous golds and yellows.  Our flag is waving against this beautiful backdrop of Autumn colors.   This makes my eyes really happy.

Well, yesterday Pogo and I took a ride to the Post Office.  There's a small fenced in grassy area at the corner of the parking lot, and Pogo just can't wait to run in there to start sniffing all the strange smells.  I have to pick him up and carry him back to the car or we'd be there all day. 

Last evening, I got all settled in my comfy lounge chair with crocheting in hand, to watch the season opener of "Major Crime."  I woke up just as it was ending.  Wah, wah, wah!  So I decided to make something to eat seeing as how Pogo and I had a very light supper.  By the time I did this and washed up all the dishes, the program was being re-run.  This worked out pretty good. 

The down side was that now I would be awake for a few hours when I'd rather be sleeping.  The good side was that I finished the light raspberry neck warmer that I was making and started another one.  I'll have to take photos later.

Today I thought I'd share some humor that I found on the web.  This first image really made me smile big time.  This lovely lady proves that just because we're a bit older, we're not to be messed with.  Go get 'em girl!!

This second set of images is for some really simple home remedies.  However, I don't suggest you try any of them.  I think my favorites are #'s 1, 5, 7 & 9.

Pogo is at the door and barking ferociously at something.  I walked over to see what or who was outside, but there is no one there.  Just little birds enjoying the peanut butter treat.  I picked him up so that he could see more of what was out there, and he stopped barking.  After a couple of minutes, I set him down and came back to my post.  Now he's barking again.  Maybe it's the leaves flying around that is getting him excited.  Hmmm?

Well, there's not much news this morning, and it's getting very close to lunch time.  I think I'll take my leave here and head for the kitchen.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Sunshine And Warm Temps - Sounds Good To Me!

Good morning.  I'm late today, but that's because I got some good sleep.  Last night's sleep was getting quite patchy so I took an Advil PM and slumber took over.  Mmmmmm!  I woke up to sun shining and mild temps.  Life is good.

According to the Weather Channel, we are going to have warm temps all week before the temperature cools down again.  They are forecasting 60's and even some low 70's.  Yes, yes, yes!  I can so handle it!  Pogo and I will take advantage of this super weather, and will take a ride to the Post Office in a little while to mail a box to my youngest daughter, Laura Jean. 

I found this poster on Facebook and I thought I'd like to share it with you.  So many of us have, or know someone who has, a very special child.   Let us celebrate them and the joy they have brought into our lives.

Yesterday was a rather quiet day here.  Pogo and I had ourselves a nice long nap.  It sort of used up a good part of the day, but we needed the sleep.  In my younger days, I could ride all night and do other things all day.  Not so anymore! 

I also have a super photo from the other night to share.  My goodness, how would you like to come home to this charming couple?   Can you guess who they might be? 

Did you guess Deanne and Eddie?  Yup, these two beauties are mine.  Don't you just love their outfits?  I almost did not recognize them.  I think they may have scared off the neighborhood kids. because no one came by for candy.

This morning, the guys from the pest control company came by to see if Mr. Fat Rat is still here or if he has found a new place to call home.  None of us has seem this critter lately, and these men could not find him either.  Let's hope that is a good sign.

Hello November!!

Good morning everybody, and Happy November!!   Well, I must say Pogo and I will be needing a really nice long nap this morning.   We had ourselves a fabulous ride during the night, and had a wonderful time meeting up with our friends. 

At one point during the night, we stopped over in Paris for a potty break and a hot cup of coffee, and a  hamburger for Pogo.  O my, the view was just beautiful.  While we were having our coffee, I called daughter Audrey to let her know we were all right.  I was quite surprised that my cell phone worked so well. 

Here's a photo of the Eiffel Tower on our way in for our potty and coffee break.  Gosh, isn't it pretty?  I also took a photo of our table.  Wow, what a gorgeous view!!

The weather was pretty good for most of our ride, and the cloud cover wasn't too bad.  We did manage to catch a few of our blogland friends waving to us as we passed overhead.  Thank you so much for watching for us.  I hope all of you had a wonderful Halloween evening. 

Someone asked if maybe some of us "frequent flyers" weren't a tad bit too old to be broom flying.  No, I do believe most of us are from the last generation to learn how to drive a stick.  We're a hardy lot.   (image borrowed from web)

Can you believe, it is already November?   There's not quite nine weeks left in this year.  Gosh, I am so glad for that surprise email from Vista Print a few days ago or I'd still be procrastinating about making my cards and new calendar.  Speaking of calendars, here is my November page from this year's calendar. 

This past Friday, Kyra posted an adorable Halloween kit called "Goosebumps" on her blog, and I just had to make another Halloween QP.   Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year,(can you tell?)  so it is a little hard to let go of it.  I hope you can use this QP.  I had fun making it.  As usual, there is a list of credits enclosed with the TOU.

Have you ever watched the TV commercial for Belsomra, a sleeping aid?  There are these two little furry darlings, one called "Sleep" and the other called "Wake."  Have you noticed how the lady never pets little Wake?  She only cuddles and pets Sleep.  

Poor little Wake follows her around like an adoring puppy, but she never stops to pet him.  This really bothers me because I can't stand to see a child or animal being ignored or pushed aside.  All of us have arms big enough to cuddle all our little ones.

Mind you, I don't normally get emotional over TV commercials, but this one just got to me.  I wonder if I write to the company and relate my feelings about this ad to them if they would even care.   On the other hand, maybe I'm just a bit too sensitive to this type of thing.  Hmmmm?

Well now I think I'll finish my coffee, and have me a little nap.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
