X RATED, Do Not Read If You Have Tender Ears

Good morning.  Tis gray outside, but warm.  My phone app says we should have light rain with temps in the upper seventies.  Sounds like a nice day to me!  Just so you know, I did have the spaghetti for breakfast yesterday and it was Yummy!

Today I want to ask you what you think of some of the newer commercials on TV.  I'm not sure if these are on all channels, but they are on the ones that I watch.  MeTV, BUZZR, and I don't remember all the other letter names.  

This morning, while watching cartoons on MeTV, this one came on.  It showed two people in a vehicle driving wicked fast and then crashing through a gated entrance to get a boat.  Then it showed them speeding down the highway with these words on the screen:  DODGE   Never Surrender.

So, just what exactly does this say to our children, the cartoon watchers (not me).  That it's okay to steal, and speed, as long as you don't get caught?

Then of course there's this guy who rides a mechanical bull (or horse, not sure which) talking about his wonderful underwear that has secure, roomy, comfortable ball room.  One ad even says that if you buy this underwear, your balls will thank you.  ????  I only play with crochet hooks!  And they don't care what I wear for undies.

I know this is not blog reading material, but I really had to say something before I explode.  I think today I'll write a letter to the Managers of these TV stations and express my thoughts about their choice of advertisers.  Not that it will help.

And one more thing.  That Jimmy Walker ad telling us about all the wonderful extra benefits and money he is now getting from Social Security really irks me.  I looked him up on Google and here's what I found.

If the man is a millionaire, how does this make him eligible to get $100 back into his check each month, and for all the other extras?  If a millionaire is eligible, why not just give these benefits to all folks who get Social Security?  

I just think that ad companies need to re-assess how they make up their TV ads.  They need more training in things like morals and sensitivity, and what things folks really want to know about a product and how to discuss it.

Unfashionable Me

Good morning.  Gosh, I slept a bit later this morning!  I woke up in time to watch "Fit 2 Stitch" on PBS.  (Rhode Island PBS)  Today's show was about fake furs, how they came about and how to make beautiful coats with them.  So, so interesting!

Right now, the "Quilting With Nancy" show is on.  They are discussing some of the newer, more modern quilt designs.  Some are quite lovely.  Some are downright ugly.  To me.  

Last night, I watched the last two episodes of "Making The Cut" on Amazon Prime Video.  I do love these fashion design programs, but I'm not a lover of many of the newer fashions.  Some look as though a hank of material were thumb tacked to your shoulder (or another part of your body) and just left to hang.  Others are just underwear with some sparkle splashed on them.   I'm not into the sheer clothing with only the undies beneath them.  In other words, I'm just not fashionable!

This was the finale to this season and I really enjoyed watching each of the finalists design their pop up store and the fashions to display in it.  For the finale, they each had to make ten new outfits.  The fashion runway show at the end was dazzling.  The winner got a million dollars, plus a slew of other impressive gifts.

I did no crocheting yesterday.  Instead, I went online looking for patterns for solid Granny Square patterns.  Both square and rectangular.  I found some really nice ones and now I can't wait to try one of them. 

While I was wandering around the web, Deanne and some of her friends were enjoying a Hawaiian Luau party.  When these ladies get together, they always have a fun time!

I did make a meat sauce and a pot of pasta yesterday.  And, I used my own home grown tomatoes for the sauce!  Yum! Yum!  I've never done this before, and I must say the sauce was simply delicious!  My tummy is beginning to rumble now because it wants breakfast.  

So, the big question is -- should I have a bowl of spaghetti?  Or a bowl of cereal?  Hmmm, if I think about it for a few minutes the spaghetti will probably win!  Not that it matters.  I can always have the cereal for lunch.

Tis A Really Beautiful Day

Good morning.  Tis really lovely outside.  The sun is shining and temps are in the seventies,  heading for the mid eighties.  A really nice summer day.  

I've been watching "Crime Watch" on TV all morning.  Seeing how these different crimes are solved is very interesting.  I find the different forensic sciences very intriguing.   If I were a lot younger, I might even think about going to school to study them.

I finished the new baby cocoon, so now I just have to make the hat and then photo the whole set.  Next, I really do think I should make a few afghans.  (My family keeps on growing.)

It's time for me to make another grocery order for delivery pretty soon.  And, I feel like having some pasta so I'll take some meat out of the freezer to thaw this afternoon.  Let's hope the doctors never tell me I can't have pasta anymore.  I'll starve!  (not really, but close!)

Listening To The Rain

Good morning.  It is raining!  Woo Hoo!  We needed this rain.  There is a metal awning over my living room windows, so all you hear is tap, tap, tap, tap.  Dancing raindrops.

I dug out my pattern book for the baby cocoons and decided to make a set to match the last baby blanket that I made.  These will be for the new baby coming in February.  Here is a picture of the covers of the pattern book.

 I'm making the pink set shown on the cover.  Here's a photo of the first set I made some years ago.

I have the cocoon about three quarters done.  Hopefully, I'll have the whole set finished by the weekend..  I'll take a photo when the whole set is done.  Then I should get back to working on the pocket wraps.  

I found another copy of "Learn How To Crochet In Just One Day" on Ebay, so I ordered it for my cousin Anita.  I think it will help her with her crocheting too.  Gosh, life would be so much easier if we could all just get together.  Ah well, this will have to do.

Yesterday's TV ware was really good.  A whole day of Blue Bloods.  I love those TV marathons when they run my favorite shows.  

As we get older, we often start thinking about getting rid of a lot of the things that we've collected over the years.  Sometimes this can be a very daunting project.  I found this adorable cartoon that says it like it is.  Hahahaha.  Enjoy.

A Busy Day Today.

Good morning.  It's quite lovely outside this morning.  I've cropped a few photos, and gone outside and watered the plants.  There's whole batch of tomatoes waiting to be picked today.  

This afternoon, I have an appointment at the lab for more bloodwork.  Yuk, yuk.  Not my kind of fun, but I'll get it done.  Hopefully, my doctor doesn't want to make this a frequent habit.  

I downloaded a map of Martha's Vineyard in case some folks aren't sure where it is.  It's off Cape Cod.

 I also cropped a few photos to share.  Deanne and Eddie got to see four of the five lighthouses that are on the island.  

For this next photo, Deanne said to think Beach Plums.  Yum! (and beautiful!)

This morning's TV fare is Leave It To Beaver and Perry Mason.  After that, it's a Law & Order marathon.  (not SVU)   I have a bag of junk mail that I can go through while watching TV this afternoon.  

I also have some patterns that I want to look through.  Just in case something catches my eye.  Of course.  hahaha.  I have a pattern book that I'm going to send to a friend.  It's "Learn How To Crochet In Just One Day."  It has lots of "how to" pictures of the stitches and it includes four nice patterns.

Scenic Martha's Vineyard

Good morning.  It's early and I've been up a while.  I've decided that I'm going to have to put Photoshop CC on this laptop if I want to be able to crop and/or resize any of my photos.  I do try to use the programs that come with the laptop, but I don't get what I want.

Deanne took lots of wonderful photos over the weekend.  It's so hard to pick out which ones to share so I'll post a few today and a few tomorrow.  Martha's Vineyard is such a beautiful place.  And just look at this sailboat!  It's awesome!

Meanwhile, I went online to order another skein of yarn for one of the pocket wraps that I'm working on, and I saw that there are some beautiful colors being added to the yarns that I use.  Oh my gosh!  I spent (what seemed like) hours looking at them and trying to decide what I could make with them.    After all that time, I realized that they won't be available until October.  Phew!  Another decision that I can put off till later.

This morning's TV fare is "Toon In With Me."  It's an hour of cartoons.  Right now, the pink panther is trying to outsmart a termite.  Obviously, he's not winning.

Now I think I'll go to the kitchen and make some breakfast and a cup of coffee.  Then I'll enjoy some morning blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay safe and have a fantabulous day.

Laptop Acting Wonky?

Good morning.   My laptop is acting weird this morning.  I don't know if it is updating itself or if it's just acting out.  Let's hope it isn't acting out.  I'm not really in the mood for it.  Over the past few years, I've gained a moderate dislike for laptops and their operating systems.  Gee, I wonder why!

I do have a bit of news today.  There's another great grandbaby coming soon.  This one is due in February.  Congratulations to Mia and Jarod.

I have three baby blankets made.  I'll have to make a couple more.  That's two new great grandbabies coming.  Talk about my cup runneth over!

Yesterday was a gorgeous day here in New England, and Deanne and Eddie took a trip to Martha's Vineyard.  It was the perfect day for sight seeing and visiting friends.  This is one of the photos she took.  Just beautiful!

I was able to sleep a bit later this morning.  4:45 a.m. instead of 3:00 a.m.  Maybe it's the cooler temps at night?  Still, I'll be looking for a little nap this afternoon.  Then I want to put a few more rows on the pocket wraps that I'm working on.  Gosh, when these are finished, I'm going to miss working on them.

Ah, but I have another bag full of junk mail to go through.  I'll spend some time with this later on too.  This is one thing that there is always plenty of.  When we talk about climate control, I wonder what would happen if junk mail were cut in half?  Just think of all the trees that would not have to be cut down to print all this junk mail.  Food for thought?
