A Real "Crappy" Evening

May 8, 2015

Good morning.  Well, it's another gorgeous day coming up.  I love how the daylight has been pushed back to around 5 am.   When I wake up early, and look out and see daylight, it starts my day in a happy way.

This morning when I woke up so early, I decided to stay up.  Mornings have been my worst time this past week.  I cough when I wake up and lose my breath, and have quite a time getting it back.  This makes is difficult to comfortably fall asleep, not knowing if you'll make it in the morning.  This is the same thing my grandson Kevin was going through for so long this winter.

This morning, it wasn't so bad for me.  I'm thinking it might have been because I got up so early and it didn't have a chance to get too bad.  I don't really know.  On the other hand, maybe I'm beginning the healing thing.  Oh boy, wouldn't that be wonderful!!

There's not really much for news, except for my "crappy" evening last night.  Do you know how much I love my little Pogo?   A whole lot!!!   Last night he was starting to act funny.  He came over to me, and he was shaking and wanting to be picked up.  So I picked him up.  He cuddled in and got all comfy on my chest with his little hind legs tucked into the top of the front of my jammys.   He was shaking wicked, so I hugged him close.  And then he got the squirties all down the inside of my jammy top!!!

How about that for a "crappy" evening!!   First I set him on a towel while I took off the jammy top.  Then I cleaned us both up, got him a clean shirt and me a clean pair of jammies.  No biggie.  That's what mommies do.  I'm happy to say that after all that, Pogo was feeling much better.  This morning he is in a very playful mood.

I took a photo of the two new lapghans that I am working on.  One is Buff and the other is Orchid.  These are numbers six and seven.  I'm not sure how many I need, so I'll just keep on making them until I decide who they are going to and how many I need.

Going through some of my many catalogues, I found a very interesting item that some of my cat lover friends might like.  A sexy pair of "cat" stockings.  Wowee!!

Before I take my leave, I want to thank the Queen Jester for giving me the name of those pretty blue flowers that are growing in my yard.  They are Scilla, or more commonly know as Siberian Squill.  Thank you QJ.

Now I'm going to drink my coffee and get caught up a bit on my blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a magnificent weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Nature Is Smiling At Me

May 7, 2015

Good morning.  It's going to be warm today.  It's already 79F degrees and headed for the low 80's.  Wow, it's sort of like an intro to Summer.   Well, Summer can wait a bit.  I'm wanting to get outside and enjoy some of this beautiful Spring weather before it's time to turn on the A/C.

Well, I was very good yesterday, and did not do anymore shopping.  I'll have to admit that it wasn't because I tried not to.  I watched the kitchen specials all day and evening.  I had my eye on a really gorgeous set of cookware.  Unfortunately, it would not be good for induction cooking so I did not order it.   I'm going to hold off on buying any new pans (which I really could use) until I get my new burners set up.

Yesterday, I started two new lapghans.  One in Buff, and one in Orchid.  Why do I have two going at the same time?  Because just sitting around makes me restless and I get bored with the project that I'm working on.  So this way, I can put one project down and pick up another.  It changes my mood rather nicely.

Gosh, this pneumonia stuff is messing up all my fun.  One of my great granddaughters is in a dance recital this weekend for Mother's Day, and I'm not going to be able to see this.  The following weekend, Jazzy is in a performance of "Anything Goes".  I don't know yet if I'll be able to go watch this yet.  If I can't, I'll still buy a couple of tickets, and a couple of the dwarfs can go instead.

There's really not much news for today, so I'll just post a couple photos of some of the new blooms in my yard.  Aren't these yellow tulips gorgeous??   It's sort of like Nature is smiling at me.  It sure does put a big smile on my face.  I'm not sure what the little blue flowers are that are poking up through the leaves, but they sure are pretty.

Well, I think it's time to go back to my lounge chair.  If I stay up too long, I get a bit shaky.  Gosh, I'll surely be glad when things get back to normal.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Shopping My Little Heart Out!!

May 6, 2015

Good morning.  Tis a bit on the cloudy side this morning, but if today is anything like yesterday, the sun will be out in a while and the whole day will be fabulous.   It's already almost 70F and it's not even ten o'clock yet.

I guess the good news is that I'm all done with the antibiotic.  The doctor says it will just take time now.  Hmmm, easy for him to say!    Part way through the day, I do feel as though I'm getting stronger.  However, when I go to do some things, I find out how wrong I am.

Yesterday afternoon, I took a bottle of water out to give the plants on the doorstep a drink.  On my way back in, I fell on the step by my back door.  Thank goodness folks were home, and windows were open.  I called out and Joe came out to help me.  I'm okay, just some scrapes on the elbow, and a huge purple bruise on one leg.   I've been given orders not to go outside alone when no one is at home.  (by the dwarfs)   They threatened to call one of my girls if I did not listen.   Yeesh!

Last evening, I finished off the Key Lime lapghan, and now I need to go through my yarn to find a different color for the next one.   I'm thinking that I'd like to make a buff colored one, and of course a couple in different blue shades.   Hmmm, just a thought.

Yesterday, while I was outside checking on the mail, I took this photo of Pogo sitting by his door.  This is where he is everything afternoon, watching and waiting for Joe to come home so that he can get his turkey treat.

I'm noticing that the blanket is still rolled up by the bottom of the door.  I think I can remove it now.  I put it there in the Fall when it started getting cold, in order to prevent any possible drafts from getting on Pogo while he sits there.

I also took a photo of the pansies.  Gosh, these are beautiful!!  As long as I remember to water them and pick a few blooms every couple of days, they just keep on blossoming.  (Don't laugh!  My green thumb turned brown many many moons ago!)   Having the plants on my doorstep is a good way to remind me that they need water.

I also have another photo of our calla lily plant.  It is just soooo pretty!   I'm thinking though, that it might be wanting to be planted outside soon.   I'll have to research this plant a bit more to see if it is ever just a house plant or if it definitely needs to be outside.  Gosh, isn't this pretty?

A couple of my favorite TV channels lately seem to be the shopping channels.  Since last evening, they've been featuring a lot of kitchen items.   Usually this is not my favorite type of product to be watching, but right now I'm having a grand time.

I've been wanting to change over to induction cooking for some time now, so pretty soon I'll have my first burner.  Well, actually I'll have two of them.  I will ask SIL Eddie if he can make me a shelf cover to go over my stove top.  I'll use this as a counter top for my new burners.   I also ordered a beautiful new microwave cooking pot.  A few years ago, I found a wonderful covered cooking bowl for the microwave.  I love it!   However, I've not been able to find any more of them.  I just know that this new pot will soon be another favorite of mine.

I also ordered me a new little grinder (for pepper, etc.)  It's orange with white polka dots.  Oh boy! d I'm a nut for orange.  And I definitely love the polka dots!   Next on my list will be some new pans.  First I want to research which pans I can use.  There is a magnet coming with my new burners that I can use to test different pans.

Folks, this is one of the downsides of being put on lots of rest.  The shopping is such fun, and so easy to do.   That's the catch word - "easy".   Ah, but I am a careful shopper.  Occasionally, I do lose out on a fabulous buy because I take too long to think about something, but usually I do very well.   Another thing I'm watching for is a pressure cooker.   There will be a new one featured on the one of the channels later today, so I'll be watching for it.

Well, there's really not much more happening here, so I think I'll go pick out a new yarn color for the next lapghan.   So, till tomorrow, Y'all be well, and have a magnificent day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Big Welcome To Princess Charlotte

May 5, 2019

Good morning.  Oh what a beautiful day it was yesterday!!  We had the door and windows open all day, and even into the late evening.  Oh my, it felt really good.  This morning is on the cloudy side, and we'll probably have some rain today.  That's okay.  We can still have the door open all day.

I guess it's coming on time to uncover the air conditioner and clean it out.  Looking at the blades on my ceiling fan, I'm thinking that these will need to be cleaned again too.  As for the dust bunnies, I'm ignoring them on purpose.  I'll deal with them when I'm feeling a lot better.

Yesterday I dug out a couple of plastic totes to store all my new crochet goodies in.   If it weren't for all the rows of work ripped out the first couple of weeks, I'd have a lot more stuff finished.  So far, I have a shrug, two shawls, and four and a half lapghans done.  Not too bad.

I'm thinking that I will probably have to pick up a couple more of the big plastic totes too, for storing the finished afghans.   This will make it easy to keep things organized and clean until Christmas time.

Folks, do you use Amazon Prime?  I love this program.  Last night I went online to order a Tommy Copper knee sleeve for my SIL Eddie, and early this morning I got an email letting me know that my order has already been shipped.  It will be here by  tomorrow morning.  You just cannot beat this kind of service!   (no, this is not a paid commercial)    And this is not all you get from Prime.  There is all kinds of free music, movies, videos, TV programs, books and free two day shipping.   Have a look into it.  I think you'll like it.

Well, today I take my last antibiotic pill.  I just called my doctor to see if he wants me to stay on it longer or not.  My SIL Eddie is going by the doctor's office this morning to pick up my new scripts.  A lot of the pain has let up, and the cough is not so bad.  Once I can get my lungs cleared, the rest will be easy to deal with.   It looks like this old gal is going to make it.

My good friend Rhoda sent me the cutest image yesterday, and I just have to share it with you.  It's called The Affordable Pool Act.   Hmmm, I might be able to get me my own pool, but first I have to figure out how to get in and out of it.  Enjoy, and thanks Rhoda!!

I have another really cute image that I borrowed from the web.  Until you read the article that came with the picture, or look really close, you would not believe that this is a cake.  This is just beautiful.  Awesome!

Starting today, I'll be watching for the mail for more packages.  I've found some great buys on the shopping channels for upcoming graduation and birthday gifts, and I have a drawer ready to put them into.   I'm checking things off on my gift list, and being entertained at the same time.

While I'm on the topic of shopping, here's a photo of my new treasure that I bought a couple of weeks ago.   It will be a while before I can actually get to use it, but I'm quite happy with it.

Well, I can see that it's going to be another long, busy day for Pogo.  The front door is open, and no matter where Pogo sits or lies, he makes sure that he can keep his eye on the goings on outside the door.  Unfortunately for him, people keep insisting on walking by on the sidewalks out front.  Of course, this means that he will be kept busy barking or growling at them to make sure they keep their distance.  He is such a good little protector.

Before I take my leave this morning, let me say a big "Welcome" to the new Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge.  I wish you a long, happy life.

So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hats - Luxurious, Flirty And Sometimes A Bit Sexy

May 4, 2015

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is supposed to hit 79 to 82F today.  I may have to take Pogo and sit out in the warm sunshine later today.  Staying indoors doesn't seem to be getting me closer to healing, so maybe the warm sun and fresh air might help.

I may even get to shut off the heat today and leave it off for the rest of the week.  Wouldn't that be nice!!   Pogo got to run around naked yesterday afternoon.  As soon as it gets warm enough this morning, I'll take his little shirt off again.  It's still a bit cool till about mid-morning.

My mind is working very hard at this "getting better" thing.  Unfortunately, it's the body that is not cooperating.   The mind says "Let's!" and the body says "Not today lady, not today!"   Gosh, what's a girl to do?

Well, I've been crocheting a batch of lapghans; and yesterday, I read a bit in my phone and tablet manuals on how to better use the camera in these items.   I do learn new things, but my aging brain doesn't hold onto the information for too long.  Pretty soon, I'm back looking up the same things.  Yeah for books!!!

Here's a shot of some of my new lapghans.  Aren't these colors just yummy??  Note the bottom right lapghan is the one in that "Cheeky Pink" color.

Yesterday I was having a bit of trouble getting some photos transferred from my phone to my laptop via email, but I solved that problem temporarily by erasing a ton of non-essential photos from my phone's photo gallery.   So today I can share photos of my girls in their Kentucky Derby hat fashions.

This is Audrey (on the right) and her friend, Miss Bea.  Looking good, ladies!

And this is Eddie and Deanne.  Oh my, those mint juleps look sooooo delicious!!

Wouldn't it be nice if we could get back into the trend of wearing these fabulous hats?  I remember when I was young - us gals always wore our hats when we dressed up or went out.  My favorites were the ones with the wide floppy brims.  I wonder whatever made us stop wearing them?  I think they are wonderful.

Yesterday, Joe cleaned out the birdies water bowl and re-filled it with fresh water.  I was going to try doing this today, but I appreciate that he did this for me.  I'm short and have trouble reaching it from both the ground and the window.

The weatherman says we'll be getting some rain tomorrow afternoon.  Well, that's okay.  The grass and the gardens will appreciate the water.   And, it will be warm, so we can keep the door open and watch the rain fall.

I guess one of the "perks" of these golden years is that our brains now get to slow down long enough to appreciate the beauty of watching the rain fall from the sky.  Gads, that is sooooo -- wow, for once I have no words to describe something.   Hmmm, I'll have to give that some thought.

One last thing.  Have you heard anything about the new Windows 10 yet?   They say the free upgrade will be given to all who have version 7 or 8.1 already, and will be kept updated for the life of the pc or laptop, etc.  I have a bit of research to do on this, but my one big question is - what happened to a #9 version?

On that note I'll leave you.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Yeahhh, I Won $7 !!!

May 3, 2015

Good morning.  It's taking a bit for the sun to come out, but it's early yet.  Temps will be warmer today and keep getting better all week.  Yeahhhh!

I wish I could say that I feel much better, but it's just not happening so soon.  Of course, today is only day four on the new meds, so it may be too soon for the healing.  Pneumonia is nasty stuff.  I'm keeping busy with the crocheting.  As for the TV, there's not really much good on right now.  I don't like most of the programs that are offered, and a lot of my favorite re-runs have already stopped playing.

As for the news, I am so sick of watching all the Baltimore chaos.  It's on every day, all day long.  I think maybe if the media wouldn't give them so much attention, the protestors and rebel rousers might settle down and go home.   They may have an issue that needs to be heard, but their behavior and violence is unacceptable.  Isn't there anything good happening anywhere in this country that can be splashed all over the news programs instead?

Yesterday, I did watch the Kentucky Derby Race.  Did you all pick a winner?  I had three picks, and American Pharoah won me $7.  Woo Hoo!!    My girls were at different Kentucky Derby parties and looking absolutely glamorous in their beautifully decorated hats.  As soon as I can get my photos to download to my email, I'll share them.

My phone is telling me that it is getting low on room and some things aren't working properly because of it.  Hmmm, I'll have to get out my book to figure out how to fix this problem.  If that doesn't work, then I'll just have to call Jasmine.  She knows the phone inside out.

I have a cute photo of Pogo to share.  I just had to laugh at the look on his face.  Sort of like "Really Mom!  Don't you have enough photos yet?"   No cutie, I could use a few more

Late last night, the moon was really bright, so I took my phone outside to get a few photos.  There were lots of fluffy clouds in the sky, and this shot was taken just after the moon and clouds came out from behind the tall trees.

Did any of you watch the fight last night?  I did not as boxing is not my forte.  However, if you had your money on Mayweather, then you came out a winner.  Today, Pacquiao says he did not win because he was hurting and therefore could not do his best.

On a really bright side, Britain has a beautiful new Princess.  They showed a few photos of the new baby on the news.  Gosh what a cutie pie!!   Now the suspense is on to learn what she will be named.

Well that's my news for this morning.  It's time to take my meds and let Pogo go out into the house to find Joe.  Pogo is looking for his turkey treat.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy May Day

May 1, 2015

Good morning.  My goodness, see how quickly April has gone by and we are already into May.  Time is flying by and pretty soon we'll be able to start putting new plants into the garden.  The weather man is promising us a whole week of super temperatures starting tomorrow.

Before I forget, here's the May page from my calendar.

Today is gray and cool, and I find myself slipping into a blue funk mood.  You know how when your eyes think they want to cry but you have no reason to cry?  Or you get up and walk around for no particular rhyme or reason?  I know it's just a combination of the gray damp day and being sickly for so long, and things will get better.

Today is day three on the new antibiotic and I'm really hoping for a huge healing trend.  I know, I'm getting overly anxious.  I have hopes that the new meds will make me all better so I'm rushing myself to get well.  Realistically though, I know that things will work out in their own time.

Today I have more photos of the flowers blooming outside in the little garden.  Yesterday morning when I put the plants out on the doorstep, I noticed two beautiful orange tulips budded and getting ready to open.  I grabbed my phone and took a photo.  By noon, the tulips had opened and of course I had to go back out and get another photo.

Aren't these just the happiest orange color?   I also took another photo of the white daffodils with the peach center, and a shot of the plants sitting on the doorstep.

Last night was not a good night for sleeping.  I did, however, keep dozing off for a while all through the nght.  This morning though, I'm rather tired, so I'll be catching a nap in a little while.    During the night, I finished the "Pumpkin Orange" lapghan and started another new one in "Cheeky Pink".  This is a rather weird but pretty color.  Well, at least I think it's pretty.

Next on the list of lapghans will be one in "Key Lime" and one in "Lemon Yellow".  Gosh, these colors sound so yummy.  I had ordered a batch of new yarn colors, and the box arrived yesterday.   Now my fingers itch to play with all the new yarn.   One of the new colors is "Pomegranate" and another is "Hot".  Am I making you hungry yet?

Well, enough of my chit chat.  I think I'll try for that nap now.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.
