Pumpkins For Our Wildlife

November 5, 2019

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temperature is 46F degrees.  We may get up into the mid fifties later today.  It must have rained during the night because there is a puddle at the end of the driveway.

Well, yesterday was a lovely, laid back day for Pogo and me.   Although to see him laid out and snoring after supper, one would think that I had kept him busy all day.  I just had to take another photo of him.

On Halloween evening, once all the little kiddies had done their trick or treating, it was time for the big kiddos to have some fun.  I just had to share this photo of Deanne and Eddie in their party costumes.  Scary!

It makes me remember all the awesome costumes that Michael and I used to see every year when we would go to the Halloween Gala at a local club.  Ahh, memories!

I meant to buy a few small pumpkins this year, but I never did get to do it.  I had wanted to carve them a bit and then place them among the trees over in the side of my yard.  They are really good for the critters who live there.  Maybe I can still get some.  I'll have a look when I go to the market this week.

Here's another great way to use your pumpkins after Halloween goes by.  I borrowed this from the web.

Did you know that animals and birds love these pumpkins?  I didn't know it, and now that I do know it, I want to put some pumpkins out each year.  I wonder if turkeys like them.  Our turkey friends have returned now that the weather is cooling way down.  They were out in the yard a couple of times while Audrey was here and she got to take some nice photos.

While Audrey was here, we set some things aside for me to go through later at my leisure.  So today I will pick one or two of those things and do just that.  And while I'm doing that, I think I'll listen to some of my music on my new boom box.  Sounds like a great plan!

That's my news for today.  Now I'm off to read some blogs.  This is one morning habit that I really enjoy.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I'm sure birds WOULD love a pumpkin, and whatever insects it collects outside. That's a great idea if you've got a big yard. I wouldn't want it too close to the house, though!

I didn't get any pumpkins this year as well. What a change from the past few years, but I WAS okay with it until I read your post. Now I may go and get a few just for the animals. Thanks for sharing your good ideas!

I see Pogo doesn't miss a wink of sleep. He's a growing boy that need his rest. He look so handsome laying there sleep with no worry in the world.

It's relaxing to do blog reading in the morning. Steve and Sean time is a lot different from ours so I get the opportunity to read theirs early mornings if I wake up very early. I just go down a line blog reading. (lol) I am back using the ceiling fan because it is not cool again. We keep going from heat to air which is not good but the weather here is so weird. I hope you and Pogo have a beautiful and healthy day. I guess I will go vote some time today. Have a great day.
