Shopping At Ocean State Job Lot

September 8, 2019

Good morning.  It's quite lovely here today.  Temps will be in the low seventies with a little breeze.  Nice!  Autumn is moving in quickly though.  Pretty soon all the leaves will be turning and temps will drop even more.  The nicer part of summer just doesn't last long enough.

Has anyone noticed that Dorian went right over Nova Scotia, causing all sorts of havoc.  Isn't that called a landfall?  And right now it is heading over the Eastern tip of Newfoundland.  Is that another landfall?  Is this hurricane setting a record?  I don't think I've even seen a hurricane take in the whole Eastern coast of North America.

I was asked what Ocean State Job Lot is like.  It's like an inexpensive department store.  They have a little bit of almost everything.  They have some of the neatest things for your yard and garden.  I love poking around in this department.  Plus they have clothes, office goods, toys, crafts, books, cards, auto things, a hardware department, pet food and accessories, canned and dry foods, coffee and tea, furniture, rugs, linens, novelties, did I forget anything? Their prices are super.

And Pogo loves that store.  Everyone is so nice to him there.  We have two of these stores.  One of them is smaller and is not far from us.  The other is new and huge, and only two towns over.  That's the one we went to on Friday.  It was fun just walking around and looking at everything.

I did find a couple gifts for Christmas.  Plus I got a loaf of raisin sweet bread.  I love that bread.  In the tea aisle, I got a bottle of green tea to try.  Guess what?  I liked it!  Next trip, I'll pick up some more of it.  We found some brown gingerbread men peeps.  I got two packages and ate them both that night.  Yum yum.  I even found a bottle of maple syrup, so I bought it and had it on my pancakes this morning.

Today I thought I'd post a couple more of my favorite "oldies but goodies" QP's.   These are both from four years ago.  I hope you can use them.

Tomorrow's post may be late.  I'm taking Deanne and her little dog Sassy to the hospital.  Sassy hasn't been feeling so good lately so we're going to have her checked out.  I may be posting in the afternoon.

Now I'm off to do a bit of blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

So sorry to hear Sassy isn't feeling well. They do have sick days like us. I've been noticing babs losing weight. My son brought it to my attention. I have been trying to make her lose because she is too big for her size. Queen should be next. I've cut back a lot on their food. I am giving them just enough to fill their tummies but not to over eat. Milo get more because he is not fat. (lol0

That store sounds like a gem for shopping. The best our little town has is Walmart. I usually go to Houston, Spring, or New Caney to shop for grocery. We have the signature grocery store, like Kroger which is too expensive to buy a lot of food that you like, so I will travel when I shop. Our thrift stores aren't very cheap. I go in Houston if I want to go to the thrift stores. I hadn't been shopping in a while for anything but grocery. The holiday is approaching and I will do a small amount of shopping for other things then. Hope you and Pogo have a great Sunday.

That store you visited sounds like it has all sorts of bargains. I hope Dorian weakens and ends soon.

This store is unfamiliar to me too, Edna, but sounds like one I would enjoy visiting, Ginger peeps sound great too, gingerbread has been on my mind lately, I have been wanting to bake some gingerbread, but Dorian came by, and like you I don't believe I have ever heard of a hurricane skirting the whole eastern seaboard, I am glad to see her leave for good.

prayers for a good report at the vet,.
