Nature's Beauty All Around Us

September 13, 2019

Good morning.  It is BRRRRR!  in here this morning.  The temperature is up to 57F degrees outside and will only make it into the low sixties today.  Pretty soon we'll be in the longest (and coldest) season of the year.  Winter.  It seems to last at least six months every year.  Not my cup of tea.

Well, we finally got a little rain yesterday.  At first it was heavy enough to make a few puddles, then it was light till the afternoon sun came out.  Meanwhile, I was able to go out on the porch and take a few photos of the raindrop bubbles in our one big puddle.

Have you ever noticed how drops of water make beautiful bubbles when they go splat! in a puddle?  Here's a few photos of my water bubbles.

You really don't have to look very far to find something beautiful or interesting to photograph.  The other day, Joe was out feeding the birds and small critters and he spotted a baby squirrel sitting all by itself and looking a bit bewildered.  We did not know if  it was injured, or just waiting for it's mother.  Joe put down a pile of seeds and corn near it along with a bowl of water.

Meanwhile, I grabbed my camera and went out to the porch.  I got a lot of photos before this tiny little cutie was scared off by something that I did not see.  I just hope it found it's way home.  Isn't this just the cutest little fellow?

My friend Beth tells me that she has a kitten and a very young possum who come to her doorstep every day for food and water.  She's very lucky.  Animals seem to know who they can trust to help them with food and maybe even shelter.

Today I'll dig out Pogo's little shirts and sweaters.  As he gets older, his hair is thinning and I imagine he can feel the cold more now.  He hasn't had any new sweaters for quite a while, so I guess a shopping trip is in order.

Now it's time for me to wash the breakfast dishes and get ready to go out with Deanne.  It's Taser shopping time.  I think while we are at the gun shop, we should look into target shooting classes.  It's been a while since we've been practicing our shooting skills and we could both use a refresher course.

So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I am just loving your weather. It's in the 70's at night but the 90's all day long. The air is still blowing strong as ever. We are always happy to see our winter. Our winters are our fall and I doesn't think we have fall season here. It's summer all the way to December. (lol) We can grow some fruit trees here. Mine is doing well but no fruit yet on the lemon and orange tree. The plum and the kumkwat tree is bearing fruit. I remember reading the orange and lemon trees take 3 to 5 years to bear fruit. I have 2 more years to go with them.
That little squirrel is so cute and yes our animals know where and who accept them. Our little neighborhood strays (3 of them now) hang out on my street and the street adjoining my street because we feed them and make sure they have clean water. We are so afraid to call animal control to pick them up because we know they will most likely put them down and they don't deserve to die because some idiot decided not to take them with them when they moved. We do believe that's what happen. Keep my baby Pogo warm. I hope you and Pogo have a great day and weekend.

Love the baby squirrel pictures! Here in Maine I feed squirrels (we have red squirrels), deer, raccoons, turkeys, birds and the occasional fox. I can view them all through the kitchen window over the sink. I started it all 4 years ago when I started to take care of my 92 yr old mother. She is housebound and really enjoys our visiting wildlife.

Hahahaha, I had to laugh when I read about your "cleaning out"project and at the end it seemed if there wasn;t much of a "dent"into the stuff. I know how that feels!
It is a pity that it seems as if the warmer days are almost over now and I hate to think about colder temperatures and winter time.
Do you think you really need to have a taser around? I understand that you want to protect yourself, of course, still it is frightning to think we need to have that kind of protection.
Oh, that little squirrel is adorable. I too hope it found its way back home and to the family.
Hopefully in the coming wees we still will have some lovely days to enjoy, with sunshine that warms our old bones!
Have a lovely day and also week ahead.
Big hug
Kyra
