Tis A Gorgeous Summer Day

August 9. 2019

Good morning.  It's another beautiful sunny day here, and the temperature is 71F degrees.  Soon, though, it will get up into the low to mid eighties.  Sounds like a gorgeous summer day to me!

Pogo's doctor just called and said that all his labs from yesterday came back normal.  Such good news for my boy.  He's all set now with his Rabies shot for another three years.  The only downside came when we were discussing his eyesight.  My handsome little Pogo has cataracts growing in his eyes.

I will have to make him an appointment soon with the eye doctor to see if he is a candidate for cataract surgery.  The cost?  One eye is $4000.  Both eyes is $6000.  Wowsie!  But sight is precious, so we will see what Pogo needs, and then we will find a way to do it.

In a couple hours, Deanne will be here to pick me up.  We're going to have our nails done.  Mine can surely use it.  They are a mess!  It will be nice to see them looking pretty again

Tomorrow night, we're going to the Cabaret to see Jazzy in "Where The Girls Are."  I'm looking forward to this.  A delicious dinner of Prime Rib, wonderful musical entertainment and great  company.  What more can you ask for?

The little white radio on the poster reminds me of my first little portable radio.  I was fifteen years old, and Kay Jewelers was having a sale and a feature item was a little pink portable radio.  I forget the price, but I went to the store to look at it.  It was just beautiful!

I asked if I could pay something every week and take it home when it was paid for.  I did have a job.  I worked at the local theatre every evening.  I sold tickets, helped with the concession stand and closed up for the night.  Fortunately for me, the salesperson was really nice and offered to let me open my very own charge account.  I got to take my radio home with me that day and I paid a little bit every week until my bill was paid in full.  That was the beginning of me building my credit.

Yesterday, I phoned Chewy.com and ordered Pogo's refills for his flea medicines.  When Joe got home from work, he went to WalMart to get Pogo's prescription filled.  This medicine is for his collapsing trachea.  Pogo sometimes coughs a lot to open his throat, and this medicine will help him.  Whatever it takes, I'll do whatever I can to keep him comfortable.

My blood pressure is going down, so I must be doing something right.  Actually, it's most likely the meds that is doing this.  I've been weighing myself every day and get super excited when I see a pound slip away.

Now I think I'll make a cup of coffee and do a bit of blog reading.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

OH Edna I loved this post. Pogo is all set with his new hair cut and shots plus I know that he feels better. I do worry about his throat closing up but so very glad that they have medication for that.

Great going for you to get your nails done. I do love seeing my nails after I have mine done. You will have to take a photo so we can see them.

I loved the story of your little pink portable radio. How very awesome that you were able to start building your credit.

I am so sorry that I cannot be with you and Deanne tomorrow night to see the Jazzy perform. There isn't a single person or group on the poster that I don't love. Such a wonderful time for you and your family. I cannot wait to hear all about it.

Much love my dear and I will talk to you this afternoon. Love to you and Pogo always, xxx Beth

It's so hot here our heat index has been as high as 110. I am staying inside. I went to the bank earlier and took care of my beneficiary on my accounts because you never know what is going to happen. From experience when you're sick and can't tell anyone anything it can be drastic. My next step is to do a power of attorney just in case my son forget my pass words, etc. he will be able to take care of everything. My sister in Louisiana did very good by guessing on a lot when I was on life support but she live so far away and have enough to do on her own.

I hope Pogo can get by without the surgery but he need to continue to see. It make you feel sad when your babies are sick. That little boy is blessed to have you around. So take good care of yourself and Pogo and have a great day.

Hi Edna,
I thought that I had left a comment but I guess I just thought that I did. I am so excited for you to get to go to the Cabaret tonight. I would love to go with you because every song on that poster is from groups and bands and singles that I adore. I had a little black portable radio very similar to the one on the poster.
You have a great fun filled evening and I hope that you eat some of that Prime Rib for me too!

The cost for Pogo's eyes are ridiculous. I read some years ago that pets are the rising cost of Health Care that people endure and that the insurance for pets is a rip off because most of what is covered is not what our pets need.
I wonder if Pogo's treatment for cataracts and his Trachea would even be covered. My poor boy.
Nathan and I use to walk a little dog. She was a little Min Pin and she was on up there in age. Her name was Heidi. She had diabetes and was also blind. We would have to pick her up and set her down and she loved her little walks. Thankfully her fur mom and dad took care of her insulin.

I decided I am going to give you a call haha... so I will end this now and wish you my dear sweet friend a great evening and lots of kisses and cuddles for my darling handsome boy to Pogo. xxx Beth

Happy all results were good for Pogo except for the cataracts. My goodness, the costs for an operation for his eyes isn;t normal! I looked it up here and the costs varie quite, but avarage between 900 to 1500 euro(I think it is per eye).
Quite a difference.
You first gave me a shock when i read in the post that your Lion King wasn;t no more!!!!
But reading the post I understood what you meant. Pfffffffff.
I will send you a bit later(after i post on my blog) a little mail with some information about dog's cataract etc. Perhaps it is helpfull.
Have a wonderful weekend, and congrats with the drop of your bloodpressure. Keep on the gopod work LOL!
Hugs

Great news on your blood pressure. I am so sorry that Pogo is having issues with his eyes, so expensive... everything these days is so expensive. I would love to see that show, I know you enjoyed it. Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!

I love your story about buying your radio. I still have my first transistor radio, a Panasonic Panapet radio from the early '70s. I never listen to it but I'll keep it forever! Sorry to hear about Pogo's cataracts -- I know that's a common problem in older dogs. It might be worth phoning around and seeing if another vet is available who can do it at a more reasonable price. That does seem like an excessive amount of money.
