Saying Good Bye to August

August 30, 2019

Good morning.  Tis rather gray outside right now, but I'm sure the sun will be out in a while.  At least that's what the weather app on my phone says.  Do you realize that August is almost over and a new month will begin this weekend?  Wow, time  is flying by!

Well, yesterday Deanne and I went grocery shopping in the morning.  This was good because the rest of the day was rather sleepy for me.  I don't know why I was so tired, but at least I could rest a lot.  And I did.

The other day, I made a small meatloaf with the left over meat after the peppers were stuffed.  Last night, I ate the meatloaf with ketchup.  Heinz makes a "No Salt Added" ketchup that has only 5mg of sodium per Tablespoon.  This helped to make the meatloaf more tasty.  Hmm, maybe I should have added more of this ketchup to the meat before I cooked it?  I'll give it a try the next time.

I got a new 35% off coupon from Blog2Print in my email.  It's almost time to make my new blog book.  Hopefully this time I won't have the same problems that I had the last time.  Today I will look through my photos to pick out two to use on the covers of the new book.

I borrowed this cute image from the web.  There's no message other than how creative how some of us old folks can be in a dire situation.

Have you seen many dragonflies this year?  I only saw a few.  When I was working, I used to see lots of them every day.  I hope they are not disappearing.  Here's an image that I borrowed from the web.

Do you share some of your table foods and other things with your fur baby?  Before you do, check the label to see if it has ZYLITOL listed in the ingredients.  This is poison to your fur babies.

Today I don't have any special plans.  I'm hoping to to do a couple loads of laundry and make a couple pies.  I think I need to clean out my refrigerator too.  Wow, wish me a shot of energy!

September is only a couple days away.  It's time to start getting my new calendar ready and my new Christmas card.  I also want to buckle down and try to finish up most of my holiday shopping.  I really don't like waiting until the last minute.  I would also like to get this pink afghan finished so that I can mail it to Ulf in Sweden.  Phew!  I think I just wore myself out!  hahahaha.

Before I go to do some blogging, let me share this image that I borrowed from the web.  This is such an important subject for all of us.

Now  I'm off to start this new day.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

I love the little old ladies rescuing the cat...how cute! And yes, it's good to read labels for ourselves AND our pets! Enjoy your day!

Well, that last bit of artwork is certainly true!

I haven't heard about the xylitol issue. Fortunately, we don't eat much processed food and we're even less likely to give it to Olga!

I give my fur babies boiled chicken in their dry dog food. I was reading online that the chi can't digest table food very well when I first got them. I wish I could just give them the boiled chicken but they need some other nutrients so I will mix it and use bottled water warmed in the microwave to give them warm food. They are so spoiled and won't eat cold food. That's okay because I won't eat cold food and they deserve to be happy.

We did get a very good amount of rain yesterday. It made my grass very happy. (lol) It's so dry we need more but thanks for the rain we did get. I hope you and Pogo have a great day and weekend.

I was fortunate to see a lovely dragonfly just the other night in our yard. I get very tired during the day too. Yesterday I drove us to a couple of appts. and when I returned home, I napped for 3 hrs! My dr. told me I was deficient in Vit. D, so I am taking supplements. Maybe that will help.
I am looking forward to cooler weather. I hope you will enjoy the weekend.

I am with you, have not seen a dragonfly in a long time. We have been covered up with those singing katydids.

I am sitting with my Granddoggies for a few days, they don't get any REAL food! I know there are certain foods that can be deadly. I am sitting watching the hummingbirds on my Daughter's patio. It is nice to just get some rest and I am enjoying every minute of it. Have a blessed and beautiful weekend dear friend, HUGS!

First Happy be;ated Birthday to Kevin. He is such an awesome youngster!!!
It is good you try your hand on sme recipes, but I know, it is harder to cook when you cannot use salt(or just a little). Perhaps you can find a salt with not as much sodium in it as the "normal"salt. I told I use one that contains 66% less sodium. That already helps. And of course I still try to use just a little from it.
I am sure you will figure out some good dishes that are tasteful and are not comtainiing a lot of sodium.
I am still in the search for some things.
Deanne is so sweet to bring you often some ready to eat dishes.

Oh, I never saw that Goldfishplant!!! Looks so funny and pretty.
And I love also your Christmas cactus. wonderful color.

I hope you still will have some nice days with good enough temperatures to sit at times at the porch. Autumn and winter are coming so close already again. And Just as you I am not ready yet for colder temperatures.
Sending you a mail now with a link for some perhaps nice recipes(like
Alfreado's sauce low sodium?? Just skip the things you don;t like(as for the shrimps perhaps).
Now just time for a quick solitaire game and then I will make our coffee and we will have a quiet evening at the tv. Lots of things to watch.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Hugs
