I've Lost My Nerd (iness)

May 5, 2019

Good morning.  Tis another gray, damp day here in New England.  To be honest, I'm getting a bit bored with it.  It would be nice to have some warm sunny Spring days to enjoy before Spring is gone.  I know folks across the country are wishing for the same thing.  The weather has been really strange this year.

We used to have four distinct seasons here.  Now we seem to be down to two seasons.  Winter and Summer.  Guess what??  I just went to type a letter and two whole paragraphs just disappeared.  How is this?  I'm beginning to get the feeling that technology just doesn't like me anymore.  I used to really like it, but now it's just a lot of frustration when changes or anything new comes along.

Take my cellphone.  I have a really great phone that does tons of things.  But I only use it for texting, surfing FaceBook, some shopping and taking photographs.  Sometimes I even use it to take or make a phone call.

Then there is my tablet.  It's a really good one, but about all I use it for is to store and read my kindle books.  It has a keyboard that has never wanted to synchronize with it.  I guess that's when I lost interest in using it for anything other than a library.

There's my old laptop.  This has been my friend for many many years, but now it too is gettng old.  Every so often, something stops working.  Adobe no longer recognizes my old Photoshop program, Explorer doesn't work anymore and it takes forever and a day for it to get running once I turn it on.

Then, of course, there's the new laptop with the demon Windows 10 in it.  This contraption has really been doing a number on my last little nerve.  Oh, I know that one day I will be able to finally figure out how to use this new program.  I just wish that day would come a lot sooner.

I have two books to help me but they don't address the problem of how to get access to my own blog.  I have tried looking up some videos on You Tube, but again I haven't found one that can help me get to my blog.  I'm sure it's there somewhere so I'll keep trying.  ONce I figure out how to get to my blog I think I'll be okay.  I can take my time learning everything else.

Of course, Pogo and I can always hop on a plane and go to Virginia.  I'm sure my daughter Audrey and her hubby Mac can help me find my way around this new laptop.  First, I do have an appointment Tuesday afternoon at the Library with that nice young lady who will try to help me.  Plus, I think I'll  call the Computer Store downtown to see if I can get some help there.  You never know!

Hmmm, that plane ride is beginning to sound like a fantabulous idea.  Oops, maybe not for this particular reason.  There is no wifi in the cornfields.  Believe it or not, there are lines going out there for electricity, but cable companies can't run one for wifi.  Hmmm, maybe I'm not really the one who is technologically challenged.  Seems the cable companies need a bit of updating too.

How about some fun stuff now?  I found these images on the web and borrowed them to share.  This first one is for cookie lovers.  The dwarfs in my house just love, love cookies!

And here's a giggle to lighten up things.

On a serious note, not too long ago, I was discussing with someone the possibility of hackers checking on you through the camera on your laptop.  Soon after that, I watched a commercial on TV that showed a woman whispering to Alexa in the wee hours of the morning.  Alexa answered her in a whisper.  Then I ran into this on the web.  It really makes one think.

Now it's time to see what Pogo and I will have for lunch.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh these contraptions, laptops and phones... so annoying sometimes but can’t live without them. I hope you learn a lot about your new laptop so you can use it. Love that cookie cutter, hehe. Enjoy your day dear friend. Hugs.
