It Feels Like Spring!

May 8, 2019

Good morning.  Tis another beautiful day outside this morning.  It's sunny with a bit of a breeze.   The temperature is at 55F degrees, headed for the high sixties.  It feels like Spring!

Well, yesterday was quite the busy day.  Pogo and I went to the park to spend some time with Deanne and Eddie and their two little grandchildren. These are two of my youngest great grandkids.  So here's a photo of me with Aurora, Xander and Pogo at the park.

We brought all sorts of healthy food for the ducks and geese, swans and gulls.  Let me tell you, the water birds were not at all impressed with our offerings.  I brought cracked corn and rice, and Deanne brought lettuce and peas.  No bread.  These birds wanted bread.  It may not be good for them, but they've been eating it for many years, so I guess that's what they are used to.

Tomorrow, I'll share some photos of the water birds.  Today, though, I have some photos to share of some other birds that have taken up residence at our park.  This is a huge park with lots of ponds.

Way off to our right (in the water) there is a big rock sticking out of the water. The first time I spotted a commorrant there, it was sunning on that rock.  What a hugh surprise.  That was a few years ago. Yesterday, I thought I spotted one sitting on that rock and thought I'd take a photo.  By the time I got my camera turned on, the commorrant had disappeared.

However, way off in the distance, there is an island, and there are a couple rocks sticking out of the water there.  I thought I could see a speck on the rock, so I zoomed out my lens and took a photo.  I really didn't think I'd get much of a photo because the subject was so far away.

But here's what I got.  Surprise, surprise!  The photo is a bit blurry but you can definitely see two commorrants and a large turtle sitting on the rock.  Woo Hoo!  Here's the original photo, and another zoomed and cropped.

In the first photo, you could not make out what was on the rock or how many were there.  My little Canon PowerShot has a 65x digital zoom.  By zooming the lens all the way out, I was able to see that there were at least two birds on the rock.  I could not see the turtle until I cropped the photo and enlarged it.  This little camera is amazing.

While I was busy taking photos of the kids feeding the ducks and geese, I almost missed a new pond resident.  Wow!  This one was not too far from us and I was able to get some nice photos.  It was a Great Blue Heron.  I had to look it up in my bird book to make sure.  What a beauty!

What can I say.  It was a beautiful day and we had a great time.  On the way home, Pogo and I stopped by Popeyes to get some chicken take out for our lunch.  Yum yum!

Then at four o'clock I was at the Library, toting my new laptop and a notebook for taking notes.  The young lady who would be helping me was Sharon, and she was just awesome.  I told here about the problems I was having trying to get access to my blog.  After trying a couple different things, we decided to get rid of Microsoft Edge for now and  use Explorer.  That did it!  With Explorer I got right to my blog.  Well, what do you know!

I know that Explorer will be fazed out in the future, but I'll have to worry about that when it happens.  Meanwhile, we were able to dowload MediaFire, and she showed me how to put shortcuts on my desktop.  For things that I use constantly, I don't want to have to go find a folder to find my shortcuts.  I want these shortcuts right on my desktop where I can see them.

Afterwards, she helped me get around a bit in Photoshop.  I thought I only had thirty minutes, but she gave me a whole hour.  This young lady saved my laptop's life.  Now I don't have to kill it.  She did tell me to turn it on when I got home and let it update itself.  (I did this as soon as I got home.)

So, tomorrow I just may try to post my blog from the new laptop.  If that works, I'll be able to have my new blog book printed and ordered.  Oh happy day, oh happy day!  Who knows, maybe I'll even be able to post a quick page this week.  Keep your fingers crossed.

Now it's time for me to finish my coffee and get dressed.  I'm meeting Deanne in an hour at a new store that just opened up.  I'll tell you more about that tomorrow.  So, till then, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Fantastic that you had rather nice weather when you went to the parck with Deanne. And yes, your camera is really amazing! WOW 65 x zoom. Increadible.
What a good help you had from Sharon at the Library! It will be worthwile to try and get some more study-hours with her!
I would recommand you to try to download Mozilla Firefox for browser(perhaps Sharon can help you with it, and also with installing your preferences etc).
Internet Explorer is almost finishedand I never really liiked it).
Here's hoping that you will finally will get used to your new laptop and perhaps even growing to like it LOL!
Now on to your next post.
Hugs
