I Think That I Shall Never See A Poem As Lovely As A Tree

May 17, 2019

Good morning.  Temps are beginning to warm up here, but we're getting a lot of rain.  I'm not complaining though, other parts of the country are being flooded with the rain.  Every now and then we have a day of sunshine.

I do have to say though, that the rain is hurting my plants.  There's just too much of it.  This morning, I brought two of the pots back up on the porch (after I dumped the water out of them.)  I don't think they will make it.

Remember the days when a user manual came with most products?  For some reason, the manufacturers decided that we did not need the paper manual, and instead put one online.  You can usually download it as a PDF file.

I don't know about you, but it's very difficult for me to try to look things up on my laptop when I'm outdoors trying to take photographs.  The cameras (at least the Canon ones) do come with a little user manual.  The booklet is small with tiny print, and only a third or fourth of the manual is in English.  I don't find this user friendly.

I found a company on the web that will print any PDF manual for you.  Their name is PDF-2-PRINT LTD.  Their web address is: www.pdf-2-print.co.uk.  I had the manual for my PowerShot printed, and it is really nice.  The cost was reasonable.  I think it was around $17.  Just thought you might be interested.

Today I thought I would share some photos that I took of a really interesting tree that is on the grounds of my timeshare resort.  The tree was just stunning, from the ground all the way up to the top of it.

This is the base of the tree.

This is the mid section of the tree.  Years of different types and size of philodendron plants have been growing up and around the tree.

Trees

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
 Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

I haven't made any special plans for today because somehow my plans keep getting changed.  Not that it matters.  My new outlook is "if I get to it, I'll get to it.  If not, there's tomorrow."  This seems to work.  I am going to set aside some time to play on my laptop.  I need to make some more quick pages.

We were supposed to have sunshine today, but I'm looking out my door and it is looking pretty gray.  A breeze is picking up and the clouds seem to be getting darker.  At least the trees have all filled out with beautiful green leaves.  The two big trees at the end of my driveway sort of make an arch over the entrance to my yard.  It's really a pretty sight.

Now I'm off.  I'll do a bit of blog reading first, then I'll see about making some new quick pages.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

They don't even give you directions on the cartons anymore on how to put things together. My fur babies have out grown their old stroller and I found a twin stroller at Petco and order it for all 3 to ride and I looked for directions on putting the wheels on and there were none. I had to look at the photo of the stroller on the box and put them on correctly. It shouldn't be an outrageous cost for them to send a pamphlet with the merchandise. I doesn't shop like I use to and buy only if there's a need. It's depressing the way the world have changed and it is only getting worse.

They are trying to get rid of all the papers. My mortgage company keep sending me an email for me to go paperless but that is a no, no. All utility bills and mortgage bills will be coming in the mail. If I get sick again someone need to know where they are to pay them. Some things just don't need to disappear. Sometimes I wish I could. (lol) but to keep living you need to stay visible. Have a great day.

This is my first time to read your blog. May I ask , where do you live? I've never seen a philodendron grow on a tree like that. Here in Arkansas, we take house plants outside during the summer sometimes. They seem to love being out in the sun or shade. But come winter, back indoor they go. That philodendron is amazing! Love your blog. Totally agree about products that don't contain proper instructions. That makes me keep the older products that I have even tho I know that I need new ones. Some of these new fangled things are not an option simply because they are too complicated and no proper instructiokns are given. Navigating thru websites on computers to get those instructions? Really, please? I'm shocked that I can even comment on a blog post that I thoroughly enjoyed reading! I , also, agree that I , too, want paper bills! Also, a simple written reminder that it is time to renew a subscription is so much easier than for a company to just automatically renew it and bill my credit card! What if i change my mind? Then I have to contact them. Cancel subscription and they have to refund my credit card.
Sending me an email clearly marked TIME TO RENEW might get my attention but 3 or 4 emails a week about a dozen different things become too easy to just delete and IGNORE! Wow, I have gotten off track. Anyway, love your blog and will be subscribing today!

It's a paperless world for sure. I like to still get some things in paper though. Like my utility bills. I was given a go pro and wanted to know how to use it but the manual was 300 pages and they wanted me to print it out. Uh... no.

So glad the weather is better. I'm sure enjoying the sun.

It seems you have more or less the same kind of weather as we have here.
We do have once in a while some sunshine and then it is lovely outside, but it is mainly for a short period.
I think your tomatoe plants need some real warm weather and sunshine!
Some of ours do rather well, an other species is taking a loooong time to grow(I wonder if we will have tomatoes on those).
I feel with you when you talk about energy, and think at times the same as you, if not today, then I will do it tomorrow, LOL.
What a lovely surprise Pogo had for you! A lovely ring, wow hahaha.
You are righht about manuals or directions for using the things we buy, often they are not included and if they are they are more or less unconprehensible. And it is nice that you can find it on internet, but it would be handy to have them right at hand.
All things change, we will have to cope with it, but it isn;t always for the better.
Well, I will first take a cup of coffee and then post on my blog.
You take care and I wish you a fantastic week,
HBug

We haven't had the rain but it is really heating up. I think it is going to be 90 degrees this afternoon, POOL time for me:) My husband got a smart phone last year, he kept dragging his feet on upgrading his phone. The first thing he said was "where is the manual":) I told him, you have to look it up on-line! Times have changed, haven't they. Anyway, I hope you have a beautiful day and maybe some sunshine! HUGS!
