Ouch! The Storm Got Me Good!

March 3, 2018

Good morning.  I'm heartbroken!!!  Yesterday's storm brought down a branch from a huge tree from the yard next door onto the roof of my house.  (It also broke part of my privacy fence.)  We heard the noise, but it sounded like it was coming from down the street so we were not worried.  Till this morning when Joe took a walk around the yard.  Oh wow!

I took some pictures and tried to contact the insurance company.  Have you ever tried to call them on a weekend or Holiday day?  They are not there.  I did manage to get a call back from a man who takes the weekend calls.  He gave me some information, told me what kind of companies to look up for tree removal, etc, but that's all he could help me with.

The first photo shows the huge branch that crashed onto my roof and the broken privacy fence.  The second photo shows the other side of the roof where the branch broke again and then (3rd photo) fell onto my shed.

I have called several places, but only got recordings and I left messages.  Hopefully someone will call me back today.  Joe just came in from doing an errand and said that there are tree removal trucks everywhere.  He has just gone back out to see if he can find one of them who can possibly come by here today.

I've also had to call the airline to see if I'll be able to change my flight to Florida for a day or two with out being charged, seeing as this is storm related.  If I had changed my flight when I called, they would not have charged me.  But I cannot do this until I find out what is happening here.  It's just one big problem after another.

Not only that, my friend Beth is on her way to Florida now, and will be waiting at a hotel for me to pick her up tomorrow.  Did I mention this keeps getting bigger and bigger?  Now I have to think about to take care of her if I have to change my flight.  Aye yi yi yi yi!!!!!

Gosh, Beth.  I really do feel badly for you right about now.  You will be able to get into the condo without me, but then you will have to worry about food for a day or two if my flight is changed.  I'll call you a bit later and fill you in on lots of things.

Right about now, my head is spinning, and beginning to hurt.  I feel helpless because there is really nothing I can do until someone finds my phone messages and calls me back.  If I could just get the damn tree removed and the roof all covered in tarp, then I would take my Pogo and get on that plane.  I just don't think I can handle any more grief this year.

I have a couple more hours before I decide what to do about my plane ticket.  I think I need to go take my meds now though.  My blood pressure must be through the roof by now.  Sorry about such a sad post, but this is what I woke to this morning.  If I'm still here tomorrow, I'll post again with an update.  Until then, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh Edna, whnat misery! Hope you were able to sort things out at time and that the tree has been removed and all that. And that you could take that flight to Florida. Try to stay as calm as possible, (hmmmm I know it is easy to say, ).
I am not in really good state either, so I'll do just a short comment. Forgive me, hope it all will be better next week.
Crossing my fingers you are in Florida now and can relax and possibly forget about all the worries for a bit.
Big hugs
Kyra

P.s. If the tree is from the yard next door, the neighbours should call in somebody to remove the tree. But perhaps it could be easier and quicker if you called one(as you tried) and let the insurance company handle it with the neighbours for the costs.

It never rains but it pours they say. And it looks like you had a flood of bad luck. Hopefully everything will be taken care of tomorrow and you can get on your flight. After all of that you definitely need a vacation. At least no one was hurt. I hope the next post I get from you, you are in Florida.

we all know the feeling and have been there in our lifetime and some of us are still there with our problems. I did escape Harvey floods by the grace of God and I was too weak to flee. Oh well, I had Chemo on Wednesday and has been very irritable. Not feeling well also. I has this brother who decide to call you when he has a drink being stupid and he did that today and I am not feeling well. I hung the phone up in his face and my sister told me I shouldn't have done it. I had to holler at her a time of two and remind her if I had to do Chemo, I must be sick and not up to mess. So we all got something going on. I hope they come soon before it rain and if it does, there's more problems. Just hang in there and remember God got our backs. take care and hope you have a safe trip to Florida when you get your home taken care of. Hug Pogo for me
