We Had A White Christmas Here In New England

December 26, 2017

Good morning.  It's only 7:30 so I'm not sure what sort of day we'll be having here today.  According to my cell phone, today will be cloudy and in the mid twenties.  I know that there is some really bitter cold coming our way this week so Pogo and I will be spending all our time indoors.

Yesterday morning I looked out my window to see lots and lots of snow swirling and blowing everywhere.  We ended up getting a three or four inches of it.  Here's a photo I took from the laundry room door.

Pogo and I spent the morning opening presents, playing with some of them and trying on others.  I took lots of photos.  Oh my, such wonderful gifts everyone gave to us.  Santa Claus has a sense of humor and left lots of presents for us in Holland.  Of course, my friend Kyra sent them on to us.  There were gifts from Santa, Mrs Claus and Rudolph.  Wowsie!!  Kyra, you are such an awesome friend.  You know we love you very much.

I took a photo of the adorable Christmas plant that daughter Deanne had brought me on Christmas Eve.  Isn't this cute?  (that's the TV in the background)

I also took photos of the M&M tree to share, along with a photo taken in the dark to show off the lights.  It's really the cutest little tree.

Today I will crop all the photos from yesterday so that I can share a lot of them here.  Pogo and I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful gifts, and the candy too.  I love chocolate!  Right now, Pogo is nest to me on the sofa, curled up in one of his new fuzzy blankets.  This little guy really loves his blankets.

Last month, I took photos of a couple of my crochet projects but I could not post them because they were going to be gifts.  By now, they've been opened so it's okay to post the photos.  These are the two bed dolls that I made.  In the new year, I'd like to make a couple more of them.

Last night, Joe brought Chinese food home for his supper and he shared it with Pogo and me.  We had already eaten our supper so I saved it for our breakfast.  Oh my, was it ever tasty!!  I know, I know, one doesn't usually have Chinese food for breakfast.  But when one is retired, who cares what you have for breakfast?  Right?  I'll make up for it and have a bowl of cereal for my supper tonight.

Well, my coffee is cold now so I think I'll head over to the kitchen and make a fresh cup.  Hmmm, maybe I'll just make a cup of hot apple cider instead.  Oh gosh, what to have, what to have!  hahaha.  Till tomorrow folks, Y'all have an awesome day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I’m so glad you enjoyed your white Christmas! We had a wonderful day at my dad’s, seeing family and all the great food. We also got to watch the snowfall… And fall… And fall. That wasn’t much fun drive home in. (And even less getting the wheelchair van into a couple inches of snow in the driveway!) But after we took care of that and got in the house it was OK. We settle down a little bit and then opened presents. I’ll write a little bit about it this afternoon, but I wanted to make a point of saying thank you for our goodies box! Enjoying presents, I had apple cider for breakfast and the ripe persimmon my dad gave me. I am so blessed!

Hugs, Nani

Glad you didn't have to go anywhere in that snow. It's pretty, but I don't like to travel in it. You received some very nice gifts. I love the little tree. I would totally have Chinese food for breakfast. When you are retired as we are you can eat what you want when you want. Now I want Chinese! Have a wonderful day and stay warm.

What a treat opening up our box from Massachusetts! The caps and scarves were perfect for this morning as we took Reen to the airport to fly home to TN and it was only 9 below in LaX but 14 below in Rochester! The doll was darling...I couldn't figure out the scent holder but then remember to place it under her skirt...duh! Of course the John Wayne tape made the hit of the day. I don't know how you find these treasures. Thank you for all the joy you bring to everyone. All our love, your Wisconsin friends. BTW no snow here!

Dearest Edna, Cisco and I want to thank you again for our lovely Christmas presents. They are truly appreciated and we are so Blessed to have you and Pogo as our friend and we love you very much.
I am very glad that you did not have to go out in it and that you and Pogo will stay inside where it is warm and cozy.
YUM... Chinese food is so delicious and especially for breakfast. I am not so much a breakfast person. I enjoy it more on a cold winter's night. I would rather have left overs or Chinese any morning rather than bacon and eggs. LOL.
It's been a rough night so I am going to give you a call and lay down for awhile. Hugs, Beth and Cisco xx

Hi Edna, I was sending you an e mail because I had a question but it won't go through. Arrrggghhh.......
I love the dolls. Oh my goodness, I still have a couple dolls my mom's friend made me years ago. She used Dawn dish soap bottles and put lovely velvet gowns on some of them because when my oldest Noelle was a little girl another friend made us matching velvet dresses two years in a row. SHe gave me my leftover fabric and DOrothy created the dresses from the dolls. Some had hand knitted/crocheted clothing. They are just beautiful. Yours are so beautiful too. Me and dolls. Oh my goodness, I never tire of any of my dolls. I love them all so much.
I would love to have a crafty hand. Artistic. Oh my I love paintings and anyone who can paint, crochet, knit, quilt. SIGH My dad's mom, my grandmother had poor health most of her life but she crocheted and somewhere in my dolls I have a cupid doll, a tiny one, with a crocheted dress.
My goodness you and Pogo had to be extra good getting gifts from across the world. Woo Hoo!
Harrison gave me a Willow Tree figure called "Grandmother". He handed me the gift bag and said, "present for you". Oh Lord! I cried many many happy tears. Then Jayden made us a tiny birdhouse. It is sitting in my tree next to a red bird. Those gifts made my day.
DO you know I still have my mom's yellow poodle toilet paper roll cover. What a joy? I love the crochets or knitted, I know nothing about either craft, tea towels with the knitted skirts on them. So special. A gal I worked with years ago made me some of those and I wore them out!
You stay nice and warm. ENjoy your week. The holidays mix up the days for me. Hee Hee Hee!

HUGS
