Our First Winter Snow

December 5, 2016

Good morning.  Goodness, I don't seem to able to get up early too often any more.  By the time I get up and make breakfast and coffee, it's after ten a.m.  Then I check my emails before posting here.  I think it's the weather.  Once the cold and winter sets in, I get in a sort of blue funk.  This morning everything outside is covered with a light layer of snow.  Oh yuckie, yuckie, yuckie!

Yesterday was a quiet day.  SIL Eddie came by for a visit.  After that, I put one of my plants in a new pot.  Last evening, I put a few rows on the Delft Blue afghan.  Here's a photo of the yarns I'm using on this afghan.

There's no hurry about finishing this afghan.  It's going to be one of next year's Christmas gifts.  I have a couple more colors that I want to make afghans with next year.  One color is called "Chili."

I think I'd also like to make another one with orange as the main color.  We'll see.  I have plenty of time to work on these new afghans.

Today I'm going to attempt to get a few boxes ready for mailing.  I really need to get past this "procrastinating" thing.  I don't like being behind with everything.  Sad to say, my next big project, once Christmas is over, will be to get my taxes ready for my accountant.  Gosh, in my younger days, I was so organized.  How does a personality get so disheveled as it ages?

My sister in law, Edie, called me last night.  She had such good news!  After battling cancer for oh so many years, her latest tests are so promising.  The cancer is shrinking.  Yeaaaaah!!!!!  Edie sent me a new photo of her fur baby, Laylee.  In this photo, Laylee is asking her mom, who is trying to nap, to play ball with her.  Guess who cut her nap short???

It's very gloomy and gray outside, and it's raining now.  I think maybe I'll make a new cup of coffee and get started on my wrapping project.  This should be fun for Pogo.  He likes to check everything out before it gets wrapped and put in a box.

On that note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Edna,
I do love those yarn colors. They are beautiful. I know that your afghans are going to be just beautiful.

What a cutie pie your sister in law's little dog is. So cute. She was able to get a fantastic photo of her baby. My baby is having a nap. He has been curious this morning. We had a visitor and I wasn't sure if I was going to have to put him in my room or not until she left but he finally settled down and was fine until she stood up from her chair and walked to me to shake my hand and that was it. Cisco was on guard! I had to get his leash and put on him to hold him so she could walk out the door. It is just me I think. I think that he is just over protective of me and how can I ever be upset at that?

It is rainy here. 4 days now the rain has pushed thru almost a constant drizzle with a few hard showers in between. The rain is supposed to clear out today before the real cold moves in and already there is a little light patches of blue here and there but they are covered and gone quickly. At least it is not snow. Still our cold is nothing compared to your cold.

I understand the Winter Time Blues Edna. I get them as well. It starts with the time change for me. It is still dark when I get up and gets dark around 4:30 or 5:00 every day. It is cold and gray and lack of pretty sunshine and bright blue skies can really make a person feel down.
Even tho we do not have the winters like where you are and our temps are usually mild, we still have a lot of gray days in the winter. Hopefully the sun will come out and you can open your blinds or curtains and let the sunlight come in.

I am going to have to rest soon. It has been a busy morning but first I really need to head over to my blog and post. It has been a little while since I was able to do so.

Have a fantastic day and take care! Give my love to Pogo. Cisco always sends Pogo greetings too. Love Cisco and Beth

Oh, Edna, I am finding as I get older that I either get up very early and can't go back to sleep or I sleep late and can't get the gumption to do anything around the house. I know just what you mean! The colors in your afghan are beautiful. I really like the blues.

We have not had any snow here yet but have had a lot of rain. Those cold gray days just seem to sap my energy. It is nice and sunny today so maybe I will get something done.

Have a good day!
