Tis Rather A Dreary Day Here In New England

October 18, 2016

Good morning.  My goodness, have you noticed how late it is when day breaks now?  At seven o'clock this morning it was still dark outside my door.  The sky may have lightened up five minutes earlier, but it rained all through the night so there are lots of clouds.

For the moment, the rain has stopped, but the forecast calls for more rain during the day.  Temps today will be in the high 70's, so at least it won't feel cold.  For a little while, the weather forecast called for 80F degrees for us, but somehow that changed while I was sleeping.

Well, Pogo and I went out yesterday as far as the bank and the Post Office.  Then we came right home.  That was about all the traipsing around I could do.  It's taking longer than I thought to get back to my normal speed.

I found another fun pattern on the web.  This one is for a crocheted witch hat.  Although I prefer the traditional black hat, these fun colors should appeal to the younger witches.

I also found an interesting picture of a photo wall treatment.  I borrowed the photo from the web to share here.  (author unknown)   Goodness, what a unique way to display the family photos.

Yesterday, Pogo and I spent quite a lot of time out on the porch.  Today though, we'll be spending most of our time indoors.  Unless of course, the sun comes out and warms things up.  Then maybe we can sit out for a while.  Meanwhile, this is a very good day to work on crafts.

Today, I'm going to print out some crochet patterns for DIL Janet and Aunt Lucy.  I'll also print out some cover sheets that I've made that show pictures of the finished items.  Altogether there are fifteen patterns that include afghans, a snoodie, pet sweaters, ponchos, wraps, and baby outfits.

There's not much news for today.  So now, I think I'll see what's in the freezer for our supper and take it out to thaw.  Then I'll make a hot cup of cocoa (mmmm, sounds yummy!) and put a few more rows on the afghan.

On that note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

As much as I like cocoa, I really need to start my day with a cup of coffee. Gets the brain moving which is something of a trick these days. Speaking of cocoa ... my friend and I had lunch at a local sandwich/book shop and I had a chocolate/peppermint hot chocolate and she had a chocolate/raspberry hot chocolate. Oh, to die for, with whip cream on top. My mouth loved it, but my body will pay :)

You are all full of projects these days. I like your photo on wood project. It sounds like fun and I certainly have a few photo's that could use some form of framing. My biggest problem is finding the time. Doesn't seem to be much of that these days.

Hope you are feeling better ... changing weather can bring on the viruses. So far I am okay, but my daughter has been fighting a sinus infection for several weeks now. She too seems to be feeling better at this point so all is good.

This Thursday, I am having cataract surgery. It is my sincere hope that once I have done this, I will be able to tell again if my pictures are in focus before I click the shutter. It is amazing how we take our sight for granted until it starts creeping away on us. Anyway, it is not a big deal to have it done and I am told it will make a huge difference :)

Izzi girl is not doing all that well. She still limps on that leg no matter how much walking and stretching and exercising we do. The Vet says it has healed fine and is nice and tight, but she seems to be having pain anyway. Probably arthritis ... she has it in the other leg, why not this one :( Anyway most of her fun stuff (Frisbee and Agility ) are a thing of the past. The walking is good though and we have been hitting the forest preserves around here. There are many and they are well kept so we can enjoy our walks.

As you may have noticed we have added a new cat to our family. She looks just like our Diva and the first time I saw her outside, I was sure Diva had slipped out of the house. She is different though in that she is definitely a lap cat. She loves to cuddle and purrs up a storm when I come around. Yesterday I had her checked out, wormed and given all the shots she needs and then brought her home and put her in the upstairs bedroom, where she will stay until I get her spayed. That way the other cats will get somewhat used to her smell before we turn her loose in the house ... could be some fur flying, but fingers crossed, hopefully it will end peacefully :)

Can't think of any other news for now. It is always good to hear from you (you are much more reliable than me)and it sounds like Pogo is doing well these days. Now you need to whip yourself into tip top shape and all will be perfect (except for the blasted contractor :)By the way, before I forget ... do you have a ProAir Inhaler? You should carry one with you at all times and inhale times 2 when you feel your airway closing. That is scary and I do hope you have talked to your doctor about it. Be well, Edna and love to Pogo from Izzi ...

Hi Edna,

What a cute hat.... I like the black ones too but this is really just so cute how could one resist wearing it?

Wow you were not kidding about the heat wave. I have really been miserable. It is the high humidity along with the heat but we have a cool front moving in tomorrow night.

Sleep did not come easily for me last night. I tossed and turned for most of the night and at 2:00 am I went out to sit on the patio and low and behold, my bats were out and about. I was so pleased. I guess that I was just out at the wrong time of the night to hear them. I actually saw a couple fluttering around a light. My heart did a happy dance.
Cisco has deserted me. He hung out with the boys last night after he got his treat of course! He took it and ran to Nathan. I followed him and he was laying at my son's feet happily wagging tail and munching on his Milk Bone. I asked him if he would like to come and lay down with me but he didn't want to.

I really love your rain right now. We could sure use some as well. I hope that you and Pogo have a marvelous day.. Hugs to you both and talk soon. Cisco and Beth

Just take it easy on yourself Edna, till you are all shaped up again We do need more time to recover from something when we get older.
But it sounds you have enough crafting and other things to do to keep you busy so enjoy yourself with that.
hat witch hat is quite fun, although I like more the traditional one in black.
That family tree is really a lovely thing I don;t think I would make one in my house, but it is a great idea.
Today we will have quite stormy weather, accompanied by some real hard winds, so no fun to be outside today Good that I did some shopping yesterday, so I can stay inside.
Have a lovely day, hope you can sit a bit at the porch later today.
Hug
