A Rough Start To The Weekend For Pogo

September 4, 2016

Good morning.  My goodness, did you know that yesterday was our Flag's birthday?  September 3, 1777 was the first date that our beautiful flag was flown.  I borrowed this image from the web.  Let's all wish a Happy Birthday to our flag.  May she always wave freely.

Friday afternoon, while Cliff was painting, I took my camera outside to get some photos.  This is Cliff, and the more he paints we find more areas that need new paint.  Ah, this is not going to be the small job that we had originally thought it might be.

I also took photos of the wisteria blossoms.  So far, there's only a couple of blossoms, but now that it has started to bloom, maybe next year will bring more blossoms.

During all this time that I was outside, Pogo was on the porch keeping a watchful eye on everything.  Here's a photo of him peeking out from behind the railing posts.

My poor little guy was up sick all Friday night and early Saturday morning.  He wasn't eating anything, but he kept throwing up.  I wish he could talk so he could tell me what is hurting and why he is sick.  I kept him comfortable with lots of clean blankets all through the night.  Obviously, we did not get much sleep.  Finally around 5 a.m., he fell asleep and I did too.

Yesterday, I had a few loads of laundry to do.  Blankets, towels, etc.  No biggee.  This is one reason why we have so many towels and blankets.  They are all washable, so we never run out.  It's important that my Pogo knows it is okay to be sick or have accidents and get hugs instead of hurts.  What's a little soap and water and elbow grease compared to your little one's happiness?

Today, Pogo is feeling back to normal.  Feisty, bouncy and full of personality.  Of course, he's still a super picky eater, but I am constantly working on that.   This morning we tried one of Rachael Ray's Nutrish dinners.  Can you guess the outcome?  Yup, he wouldn't even look at it, let alone taste it.

Another thing that I've been busy with is the mess I created on Friday trying to find an important piece of paper that I've misplaced.  I thought I put it away with the paid bills, but it wasn't there.  Needless to say, I tore into just about everything.  Every once in a while, I would take a short break and then look through all the same things again.  (in case I overlooked it)  Still nothing.

I kept searching right up until Pogo started getting sick.  Yesterday, I had piles and piles of stuff everywhere that I had to go through before putting things back where they came from.  The one good thing that came out of all this was the three big shopping bags full of trash.  (recycle, plus one big bag for the shredder)  Yesterday morning after I got one of the loads of laundry started, I decided to go through everything one more time.

I started first with the pile of paid bills.  This time I looked at each and every piece of paper and scrap that was in this pile.  Well I'll be darned!!  There's the paper I'm looking for.  Just sitting there smack in the middle of the paid bills, looking ever so innocent at me.  If it wasn't such an important piece of paper, I'd have done a happy dance all over it.  Sad to say, I'll be busy for a few days cleaning up the mess that I made while looking for this thing.

In between loads of laundry, I went out to the kitchen in the main house to water all my houseplants.  I keep a small plastic bottle full of water on the window sill near the plants.  I use this to water the plants, refill it and place it back on the windowsill.  Once the bottle was re-filled with water, I could not find the cap for it.  I looked everywhere, and finally dwarf Helen noticed it.  Don't laugh yet.  The cap was already on the bottle.  I just didn't realize that I had already put it back on.  Aye yai yai!!

The history of this phrase is interesting.  Look it up on Google and see for yourself.   I wish we'd had something like Google back in my school and college years.  Studying might have been easier.  We had to do it the old fashioned way.  Read lots of books till we found the answers we were looking for.  Ah, but it was good for our minds.

Well, now that I've chewed your ear off, I think I'll make myself a fresh cup of coffee and take Pogo out to sit on the porch for a while.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hi Edna,
So sorry that Pogo was sick. I am sure that his tummy wasn't feeling like putting anything in it just at the moment. I am glad that he is a bit perkier today as well and I loved how you said to give him hugs and not hurts when he has an accident. No fur baby or real baby should ever get hurts!

Finding that paper is great news, especially since it was important. I have been looking for some documents but cannot find them and I feel that I am going to have to go to the court house and get them again.

Not so good news on the painting. Amazing how a fresh coat of paint will show up all the flaws on the rest of the house. It is a job that I do not envy Cliff at all. Scraping and painting, filling cracks with caulking... But it is a job and I am sure that he is grateful.

I need to update my blog but just not feeling up to doing it right now. Maybe tomorrow. I went to sleep too early last night, woke up at midnight and it was after 5:00 this morning when I drifted back off. (I bought a new Readers Digest and had to take a peek) and got back up at 8:30 this morning so I am a bit tired.

Jonathan ordered Chinese for our lunch and dinner tonight so I don't have to cook. This place is amazing as they always make sure to take extra precautions against my seafood allergy. We don't order from the Japanese place anymore since I had that bad reaction, but I feel bad for Jonathan as he prefers the Japanese place. I told him to order from there when he wants to. I can always order elsewhere or find something here. But he never does. Bless him for thinking of me.

Food is here so I am going to head off and have a bite of Sesame Chicken and a spoonful of rice. Take care and much love to you and Pogo... Beth

So did you find the paper? If you said so, I missed it :) Your episodes of "brain fart" are oh so familiar. I often think about doing something, but never do it and then later when I think about it, my mind tells me I have done it. The old Poop brain is designed to pay us back for a lifetime of indiscretions, I think.

So sorry about Pogo. Sounds like he ate something that didn't set with him. Hope he is okay now and that you find something he will eat. We know he likes turkey and McD's hamburgers ... just stick with that, Ha! Izzi says that you need to find a good food that is good for him "AND" tastes good. She is not liking her food that I am feeding her now. She eats it because she is hungry, but she sits and stares at it in disgust for a long time before she gives in to her hunger :( I am too cheap to toss it, so I will finish it and then try something new ... our poor spoiled babies :)

My friend and I are going to Niagara Falls with my son and his wife next weekend. He is planning different trips to show her the USA, since this is now her new country. We were thrilled when they invited us to go along. I haven't been there since I was a teenager so this will be a real treat.

This weekend, they are power washing the house, deck and gutters. A big job, but needed to be done. Thank goodness for their willingness to do things for us. To have it done would be very expensive and then the job may not be done as well as we like. We are lucky to have them here.

Nest week I have an appointment to see an eye surgeon about getting my cataracts removed. It will be quite a relief to get that done and over with. My vision has been getting progressively worse and my eye doctor thinks that is why. Fingers crossed :) I'll keep you posted. Pretty much covers my news ... have to get dressed and go grocery shopping. Not a good day to shop (Labor Day) but everybody seems to be out of everything so I will have to grin and bear it :( You and Pogo have yourselves a wonderful day ...

Sorry that Pogo wasn't feeling good for some time, but glad to hear he is okay now again
Oh, it is terrible to need some important paper and you know you have it but not knowing where, so you have to search it and that is a terrible job!
I am happy for you, that you finally found it, all the work was n;t for nothing.
I wasn;t on the blog yesterday because of my gastroscopie. I didn;t worry too much, but of course you still get a bit nervous But it was a 100% fine.
Because of my little anaesthesia I didn;t notice any of it, and it all was done quickly. Just "slept out"about 1/2 an hour and then they woke me up. Had a sandwich and some coffee, in the mean time they phones Jan, so he picked me up
They didn;t find any disturbing things( if so they would say), so I;ll have to wait for result till the 13th. If I don;t hear from the surgeoan, I will have to call my doctor and we'll see what comes next then
Looks to be a bit cloudy today, but temperature is good, and from tomorrow it will be sunshine and warm.
You have a wonderful day.

I'm glad that Pogo is okay now. Yes I wish they could talk.
I hate it when I can't find something.
We all do crazy things. I put the TV remote on the phone charger. Hubby had a good laugh. I wondered why it didn't fit well.
