Do You Know What You Are Feeding Your Doggie?

August 2, 2016

Good morning.  It's rather gray outside and we have a good chance of getting some rain today.  Well, at least that's what the weather man says.  I won't hold my breath waiting for the rain, but it would be nice to have some.

Yesterday Cliff (Eddie's friend) came by to do a bit of work, and he started with scraping the peeling paint on the house near the front entrance.  He's going to be re-painting the whole front porch area and the portion of the house exterior inside my new porch.  (as long as it doesn't rain, of course)  If the rain really happens, we may have to postpone today's work until tomorrow.  We'll see.

In the afternoon, I gave Pogo another whole body rub down with the Aloe Vera Gel.  I think it's helping because last night he made it through the whole night with hardly any scratching.  Oh, what a relief this was!

Last evening, I picked up my crocheting again and put a couple rows on the scarlet afghan, but it is still too warm to be working on it.  Actually, it is the humidity that makes it uncomfortable.  However, I have plenty of time to get it finished before the holidays get here.

I'm thinking that today I might like to get started sorting out everything in the gift drawer and the big gift tote.  I need to make a list of what I already have so that I know what I still need to get/make.  I also need to go through all my clothes and get rid of any that I haven't been wearing.  Gosh, there's just too much stuff here.  I need to get rid of a lot of it.

Today I have a list (that I found on the web) of pet foods for you to be careful with.  It lists many brands that are made in China and have been in question and linked to pet illnesses and deaths, and suggests that you throw these brands out.  You may want to check these for yourself.

Waggin Train, Canyon Creek Ranch, Dogswell, Hartz, Snausages, Booda Bones, Aspen Pet, Milos Kitchen, American Kennel Club, Dingos, Beefeaters, Cadet, Sargents, Ever Pet (Dollar General), Home Pet 360, Walgreens Simple (new brand), The Kingdoms Pets, Benufuk (not a misspelling), Beggin Strips, Pupperoni, Canine Carryout, Bill Jack, Milkbone Dentastyx, Milkbone Brushing chew, and all Beneful Brand line.

I looked these up on Snopes, and could only find Ever Pet Dog Food, Beneful, Menu Foods, and Canine Carry Outs listed as being harmful or causing pet deaths.  So do check out any brand that you are using before giving it to your doggie.

Here's something else that I found on the web and wanted to share with you.  Aren't these just the cutest little kittens?

Today I have an appointment with someone from a solar energy company.  I'm checking with three different companies to see if this is something that I need or can afford for the house.  It is supposed to help reduce my electric bill drastically, but I need to do my research before making any decisions.

Now it's time for me to dress and get started on this wonderful new day.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Edna,
Thank You so much for posting the pet food list. A lot of the items surprised me. Especially the Beneful, snausages, and pupperoni. I have bought and given all to Cisco before. The Beneful has not been a favorite and since he is on the Science Diet has not been an option, but the snacks? Wow. I was really shocked.

What color are you going with for the house and porch? It will look good with some fresh paint. Give the old girl, and the new girl too a bit of a lift.
I do have a question about the solar panels. What happens when it snows? The snow will cover the panels and not be able to absorb the sunlight correct?
Well I am for one really happy to do anything that can help our environment. We had sticker shock with our electric bill this month. When I get my check tomorrow I will have my rent for Jonathan and I asked him to use it for the electric bill. Of course it is up to him to use it to pay for what ever he needs it for. I just get a little nervous as we have never had one this high before.

I guess that I will close and get moving along. Enjoyed your call yesterday and I hope that your leg is feeling better. Mine hurt all night but has finally stopped hurting for now. Much love to you and Pogo. Love, Beth

Quite a job for Chris, to do a big part of repainting But it is only good for the house, of course.
what a list of pet food there is, that isn;t good for our pets! I almost don;t know any of them, except for the Beneful.

Solar panels could be a great solution for your energy. But I don;t know how it works in your country, but here for now, more and more people are thinking it over, but to install panels in or around your house is still an expensive thing and it will take some time to get all the costs out and really benefit from it.
Still I think, that you do a good job checking it out and perhaps it is something to consider taking in near future All depending on how it will be done and what the costs are, I guess.
Yesterday we had a rainy day, today will be about the same, but later this week summer will return again.
Perhaps it will be good weather to take a nap in the afternoon LOL.
Have a wonderful day.

Thanks for the list of possible harmful pet foods. I don't think we have any of them in the house but I'll check. We now are the hotel for 1 small deer head Chihuahua, 1 very old (14+) and 1 very young kitten. Mrs Beasley the old dear is mine but I live with a family of Wicca's so naturally there is a black cat in the house. Albeit still very small, 2 months old kitten but she still hasn't learned her boundaries so there is a lot of growling and backing off. The kitten's name is Lagitha (A Worrier Shield in the Wicca religion). She's a lively little thing and she is making friends with the doggie although maybe not for long. She was mated two & half weeks ago so she might be pregnant and then she'll get some runaway hormones. (I did 3 times so why shouldn't the dog). That might either mellow her out or make her vengeful toward the kitten. Mrs. Beasley (my old cat) is almost 3 times the dogs size and really loud (no front claws so she uses her voice) and scares the small dog but not the small cat!
And thank you for the lovely QP. I'll use it today, I think.
