A Super Use For Epsom Salts

August 11, 2016

Good morning.  Yup, I'm late again, but sleep was not so easy during the night because of the muggies, so I slept in as late s I could this morning.  Today is very warm here.  The cool nights that we've been enjoying lately have been replaced with temps in the mid 70's.  Those temps are great for daytime, but a bit too warm for sleeping during the night.

Pogo has been doing so good lately with no fleas.  Oops, spoke too soon.  Yesterday I found one on him, so I put him in the sink for a bath.  Afterwards, I combed him out and found a dead one.  Yuk!  The bath towels were then put back in the wash, and today the blankets will all get washed again.

Dwarf Helen has just sprinkled the floors in the main part of the house with Epsom salts, and I'll do mine when I finish this post.  I'll sprinkle Pogo's and my furniture too.  I just called Cliff and he'll come over in a few hours to vacuum it all up.  Technically, it should be down longer, but I don't want to take a chance that Pogo will want to eat any of it.

You can bathe your doggie with Epsom salts too.  You mix 8 tablespoons with a gallon of warm water and use this for the bath water.  Keep your fur baby in the water for five minutes, rinse and dry off.  I would check on Google for the right recipe for bathing kitties.  You can also bathe them in Dawn dish detergent.  This also will kill the fleas.

Last evening, I took this photo of Pogo with my phone.  It's not easy to get a photo of him looking at me because as soon as he sees the phone he hides his face.  So, I have to be really quick.  He's curled up on a couple of his little blankets on his chair.

I found a photo on Facebook that I borrowed to share with you.  This one really got to me.  The look on this little doggie's face tells me that he has been abused, and is ever so grateful to the person holding him for being kind and sharing love.  And I am ever so grateful that this person came along to save this little doggie.

Well, it's getting late and I've lots of things to get done here today.  I'm going to sprinkle the Epsom salts everywhere now and then see about rustling up some lunch for Pogo and me.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

That's heart breaking to see how cruel some of us humans are to animals and most likely other humans also. I have 3 small fur babies now as of last week. My neighbors next door had a maltepoo and couldn't keep him unless she paid the landlord $1,000 dollars pet deposit and stated she didn't just want to put him out on the streets. She finally admitted yesterday that she just couldn't take care of Milo along with her 5 small children. First of all she could have atleast given the poor baby a bath and brushed his locks. He was so bad, I had a hard time brushing him without him being offensive from the pain from trying to brush through the matted fur. Most likely I am going to have to take him to a groomer for more trimming because I am still finding matted fur. You could feel his ribs and backbone. Now if you can't afford to feed a pet along with your 5 children, leave them alone. The government is paying the expensive rent for the home and most likely food stamps doesn't cover pet food. His fur was very dirty. He was suppose to be white but he was yellow. Now he is beginning to be handsome. Someone beat him during his potty training because he get very offensive if he does something on the floor. My babies are trained to use indoor training pads and he also get offensive if he see them using the pads. I am having a hard time training him inside because I can't do the walking he needs to go outside all the time. He is a handsome fellow and remind me of that handsome Pogo. (lol)So glad he is getting better and thanks for the information in reference to the Epsom salt and the fleas. I didn't know it would kill fleas. Have a great day.

Hi Edna,
Epsom Salts is great. It is good for your gardens too. It repels slugs and snails and other critters plus adds magnesium into the ground. Good idea to wash the blankets and vacuum up all of the salts. Darn fleas.

I will give you a call later on tonight or in the morning. I have the nurses coming today and a conference call at 4:00... Just wanted to stop in and say Hi.. Love the photo of Pogo... He is just too cute! Love, Beth

Pogo looks so cute, but it isn;t hard to admit that he is all over a cute guy!!!
It is great that you found something to kill the fleas Don;t forget to throw away also the bag of the vacuum cleaner(if you have one with a bag of course).
That photo of the abused dog is heartbreaking, but so good he found a home where he will be loved.
Now I will go and post on my blog, then hopefully the sun will be shining a little bit
Have a wonderful day.
Hug
